[Q] Putting 3g back into Vegan 5.1 - G Tablet General

Hi,
I do apologize if this has all ready been answered in the forum but I can't seem to find it. I can't believe the amount of postings there are regarding Viewsonic Gtab modified ROM's.
I have a Malata ZPad with 3g. I've installed Vegan 5.1 and like it. I would like to continue to use it but it doesn't come with 3g. I believe the 3g may have been taken out to the help extend battery life.
Does anyone know if it's possible to restore the 3g functionality? What files do I need and were can I get them?
Thanks for your help.

Connectivity

Hi all,
Was trying to search for the answer but came up with nothing. I'm thinking the answer is no but are you able to use a 3g/4g usb dongle with the VS Gtab or is it WiFi only?
Thanks,
Ho'okani
I'm looking for this answer also before buying one. Can someone please let us know. Thanks
Some 3g modems work with some roms, at least. I don't have one, but I know that the Huawie 1550 works with the Calkulin rom under the current revision by Clemsyn. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024120
Somewhere in there, they discuss other links to 3g stuff.

Malata Zpad Reviewed

They were unimpressed with it.

haha I just ran Avatar at 1080p using rockplayer and it played flawlessly. Looked really nice! Took about 4gb of storage though. The stock player did not want to play it though.
I've had this thing for a week (Zpad SMB-1002-3G). I normally find new hardware platforms to be a little average, but I must say, this is working VERY well.
My Quadrant score was 2350 from memory and I don't have problems with Video either. I'd say the reviewer has probably broken something by installing so some (incompatible) apps on there.
Just for everyone else, these are the Apps I run (that work well)
LauncherPro
Touchdown (Exchange)
Pocket Cloud
File Expert
MSN Talk
Clarus Battery
Morelocale 2 (needed for Australia)
Photoshop Express
Everything else is stock (not rooted etc).
I do however have the battery calibration problem. My was 94, then it went to 91, now it's 89% after a full charge. I'd love to fix that, but it's battery performance is still VERY good, so I'm not too worried about the gauge.
Can anyone recommend a good backup program for the Zpad without "rooting" it.
Should I just Root it and run Titanium Backup? Has anyone done this with Zpad?
Cheers, Mal.
Nice case that came with it! They should sell those at Sears for $4.99 instead of the sleeve ;-)
Nobody knows if it supports also HSDPA the 3G module ? I only see WCDMA.
I want that case!

Me to.....must have case!
Why is this identical to gtablet?
Yes, the WiFi v1's are the exact same hardware as ours. That's why our firmware is interchangeable.
Hey guys. I'm not sure if you need a 3G ROM. If someone can tell me how I can get it off I'll post it up here for everyone. I assume Clockwork? Can you install that without wiping current data?
PS: It's now rooted with Z4.
Cheers, Mal.
Case
Wow the case looks awesome. I want one too...but can't seem to find any after 30 mins of searching the web.
anyone knows about this site

3g working
I've been looking for about a week now and can't find anyone that has 3g working with the zpad. I'm running on Vegan-Tab but would be happy to change if I could get the 3g working. Anybody got any ideas?
I have 3G, it works perfectly! Malata SMB-1002-3G (unless it only works on a select band, eg 2100 for Australia)????
ROM
What ROM are you using?
It's the stock ROM. I'm not sure how I can get the version number. I'm just about to do a factory reset and install clockwork (fingers crossed I don't break anything). I'm happy to upload it somewhere for you.

[Q] Optimus T WiFi Calling.apk PLEASE READ

Okay, it's come to this.
I recently booted void onto my Optimus T and am loving it, I totally recommend it but for one thing: No WiFi Calling.
I've spent days scouring the web for an .apk and have tried to rip the file myself from several custom roms. However, the big thing is, I don't want the whole T-Mobile package of apps.
Please, this is the most elite source of Android knowledge on the internet. If anyone can help me, it's you guys.
Thanks in advance for any efforts, advice, and eventual success.

[Q] Is it possible to use "Wifi" ROMs on a Wifi+3g?

Hey!
I'm considering getting a Xoom, and I Wounder if I could use a ROM made for the wifi verison (because that seems to get updated alot quicker) on a wifi+3g device?
I won't be using the 3g part anyways, but I might still pick one up if it's cheaper then the wifi only.
Would this work?
Also, are you happy with your choice to get a Xoom?
thanks!
Edit: I should've searched more carfully, on page 2 there was a very similar thread (the answer is yes).. Please delete this post!

What to do with rooted Milestone X2?

So I decided to root my Milestone X2 from Bluegrass Cellular. However, after several hours of searching it appears I'm not able to do anything as far as creating a backup for installing ROMs. On top of that, I don't think there are even any custom ROMs for my phone. All my preliminary research about rooting that led me to pulling the trigger was conducted under the assumption that the Milestone X2 was just the Bluegrass generic name for Droid X2. I now realize this isn't the case.
So my question is, what can I do with my rooted phone now? I was all excited about trying custom ROMs, but I think the only benefit I can get from rooting with my phone is free tethering? If someone could please provide some insight, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
