Connectivity - G Tablet General

Hi all,
Was trying to search for the answer but came up with nothing. I'm thinking the answer is no but are you able to use a 3g/4g usb dongle with the VS Gtab or is it WiFi only?
Thanks,
Ho'okani

I'm looking for this answer also before buying one. Can someone please let us know. Thanks

Some 3g modems work with some roms, at least. I don't have one, but I know that the Huawie 1550 works with the Calkulin rom under the current revision by Clemsyn. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024120
Somewhere in there, they discuss other links to 3g stuff.

Oh, also see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016921 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991342

SMT5800 Verizon: Rom & BT Questions

yo. a few Qs:
1. can I flash the rom on this to one of the roms here with WM6.1?
2. using the default rom, I am trying to tether via bluetooth. A am able to tether via usb cable fine. I dont believe there is a bluetooth serial port profile for this verizon version of the vox, is there a way to enable it via the registry?
Thanks
doesnt seem like anyone knows the answer to these questions, i have tried posting them elsewhere and no one replys there either. can anyone at least answer the bluetooth question?
If it is a Vox then it should be possible to flash all ROMs here. You just have to do the USPL! Look around in the forum, you should find all information you need. Also consider the wiki!
there is a registry hack somewhere on the forum for the serial port profile. I'll update this post later when i find it.
Isn't SMT5800 a CDMA device?
All ROMS here are for the GSM version i guess.
But the Docs 6.1 ROM does not have the Radio. So in theory you should be able to flash it, but I am not sure.
You should ask this to any ROM cooker.
frauhottelmann?
oh frauhottelmann you posted on this.
It came after i posted the reply.
Hm if it is CDMA then I don't know about flashing. The problem is that it might need other drivers. We need more information if it uses the same chipset, which I doubt!
It has a faster processor MSM7500 (400 Mhz)
It has a different phone controller than S710.
SMT5800 has Qualcomm MSM7500
S710 has TI TMS320C54x
and it does not have Wi-Fi.

I guess Alphafox you should forget about the flashing!
There should be a forum for SMT5800 somewhere..
thanks for the replys guys, I dont think any of the roms here will work as this phone is indeed CDMA.
what I would really like to get to work though is setting up the bluetooth so I can get online from my laptop through the phones data connection. I have the unlimited data and have been able to get it to work via a usb cable. I was reading on here and I guess there is a way to turn that function on but I dont think it works with smartphones? can someone point me in the right direction?
this is the thread I was looking at, it doesnt seem to work though..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333762&highlight=vox+modem+bluetooth
anyone have any ideas?
I have tried a lot to make bluetooth networking work. but with no success
with this phone? is it a lost cause?
you could try and maybe you could make the hack work.
but i could not make the vox work as bluetooth modem.
internet connection sharing is a huge advantage though.
so is wififofum.

[Q] Putting 3g back into Vegan 5.1

Hi,
I do apologize if this has all ready been answered in the forum but I can't seem to find it. I can't believe the amount of postings there are regarding Viewsonic Gtab modified ROM's.
I have a Malata ZPad with 3g. I've installed Vegan 5.1 and like it. I would like to continue to use it but it doesn't come with 3g. I believe the 3g may have been taken out to the help extend battery life.
Does anyone know if it's possible to restore the 3g functionality? What files do I need and were can I get them?
Thanks for your help.

[Q] Elelinux-7.1-Hero-v3.6 + Wifi

Sorry wrong forum (posted in q&a htc hero)
Pls delete
Hi,
I'm posting my question here, since i can't reply on the original thread.
Currently i'm running Elelinux-7.1-Hero-v3.6 (custom) on my HTC Hero.
First off all, great job and thank you so much for keeping the hero alive!!
Tried a lot of different roms and this one leaves the others far behind!
I do however have a small problem with wifi. The device is not "finding" my home network. It does find other networks in the area, and i have been able to log in on a friends network. But it doesnt find this particular one. Other devices (laptops, desktops) are able to connect to it, so i dont think that the issue lies with the network.
Previously i was running elelinux FROYO_2.2.1_Final_Android_Stock (special edition) and did not have this problem.
Is there anyone with the same/a similar problem? Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this?
Dont know if it matters, its an assus N-router.
Thank you

my friend there are a couple of threads already opened prior to yours asking the same question. Lets do a little better searching and maybe you should ask your question in one of their threads so we can centralize this issue. Believe me you are not the only one inquiring about this....
Thx

[Q] Is it possible to use "Wifi" ROMs on a Wifi+3g?

Hey!
I'm considering getting a Xoom, and I Wounder if I could use a ROM made for the wifi verison (because that seems to get updated alot quicker) on a wifi+3g device?
I won't be using the 3g part anyways, but I might still pick one up if it's cheaper then the wifi only.
Would this work?
Also, are you happy with your choice to get a Xoom?
thanks!
Edit: I should've searched more carfully, on page 2 there was a very similar thread (the answer is yes).. Please delete this post!
