Has anyone experience notices in marketplace tile saying number of apps having an update AND when the update actually is done the notice is still there?
It's annoying.
Only Apps that are free or you have bought will update.
Trial apps will tell you if theres any updates, but won't download them.
Next time you hit the update button, watch what happens.
Trail apps will say 'pending' then dissapper.
Bought apps will say 'Pending' then 'Downloading' then 'Installing'

This usually happens to me if I press the center Windows button after the apps have downloaded and installed instead of pressing the back button to get out of Marketplace. Try going to Marketplace and then back out of it with the back button. That should clear the indicator, or at least that works for me.

+1. Yep, same here! I'm guessing that by just hitting the Windows button Marketplace doesn't refresh its live tile.

Tried all of those but whenever newer updates arise, the stuck retains after the update. Uninstalling and reinstalling solves it, but I don't always want to do that. Just like now, doodle god keeps telling an update, if i hit update or update all, it just installs it and its gone, when you hit back button sometimes it disappears but after awhile its there again.
That's because the trial version APP cannot update. You have to uninstall it and install the new version manually.
It won't happen for the free APP and the APP you've paid.

I don't normally apply updates all at once, only as needed. Yesterday I managed to "update all" by accident. Oh well, will let it do it's thing. It's still running today and nothing appears to actually be updating. The market shows "updating" with no progress. How do I cancel all of this from trying to do its thing?
I use app brain you can control what gets updated, it's great!
I couldn't get the apps to stop downloading (or trying). The battery was draining as a result. I finally rolled back to a backup that I made in Feb.
Guess it's a mute point now, but you should have been able to go into market, My Apps, then click on the app that was updating and there's an option to cancel.

that didn't work. I could press "cancel" but it would close out the market.
All of a sudden when I select the Internet Explorer Tile from my home screen on my HTC Mozart nothing happens, it just refreshes the home screen tiles, usually when apps do this rebooting the phone fixes the problem, but not in this case, I cannot open pages from Bing or open links. My phone has been updated to Mango and I have tried to revert back to an older software version but on my Zune there is no option to reinstall the update. I dont want to factory reset my phone because I will lose everything I have downloaded and purchased.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Does it happen if you hit the arrow and select it from your full application list?
If it doesn't remove from home screen and re-pin it.

Thanks for the reply, if I open it from the tile of from the application list it still doesnt open, I have tried unpinning it and pinning it, opening it through links in text messages and through bing but nothing works, I have cleared the history and cookies but still nothing, I dont understand what has caused it.

How do I deploy a .xap file to my device?
Do you have htc connection setup?
if not can you download it from the marketplace and run it?
You won't lose everything.. just saved games. You have to redownload from marketplace but when you click buy, it will tell you you already bought it and download it for you. You can see a list of what you have downloaded at www.windowsphone.com. Sign in with your hotmail id.
not sure what else to tell you from there.
IE will not open on my Samsung Omnia 7 too!

I have the same problem, like like you described. I was using my omnia 7 (wp7.5 unlocked, latest firmware) and suddenly i couldn't open IE, nor launch it from any app. Besides you, i haven't found anybody with the same bug...

I was facing similar issue. I guess I know when it started (but not sure about it).
I had opened Google Search app. I was searching some images. In results displayed, I clicked 1 image. It opened Internet Explorer. When I tried to open "Tab" from Menu to close tab and exit IE, IE was simply not getting close and it was opening continuously. I finally pressed Power button to switch off phone. After phone restarted, it wont open IE. After changing from New Tab to Current Tab in Settings, problem temporarily resolved. But I observed that while internet explorer is open and I open the tabs, it shows absolutely nothing, it doesn't show the tab for the page that is currently open or none of the other tabs that are open. Rather it shows Blank page with symbol to add new tab. But even new tab is not getting added. I tried several reboot on phone but somehow "Tab" thing is broken.
Hope this bus is fixed in 7.8.
(After I reset my phone, now IE is functioning normally with tabs working as well).
For almost a week now, my Marketplace app is no longer starting when i tap the icon (tapping the live tile as well as launching from the app menu fails).
The menu of my phone simply gets a 'refresh' once i tap the button and thats it (very odd).
I made a quick movie to show what i mean: Click (3 MB .mkv)
Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution to get this fixed?
I've had this on marketplace and other apps. I just restart my phone and it works. Would be nice for it to work anyway though
I tried powering down the phone before but that didn't really change anything.
So i decided to just pull out the battery and put it back in.
The marketplace is working again now, for me.
I have the same problem over and over again. Everytime I have to give my phone a reboot... this happens a lot. Maybe because of the really buggy Whatsapp interfering?
Hello everyone!
Let me start off by saying that i'm actually using an unrooted, officially update nexus 5, updated to the latest 5.0.1
I have no problem whatsoever, battery really seem to have improved, but lately i've been getting a strange behavior
After a period of use (it goes from a couple of days to a whole week) the phone oddly slows down when i press the middle button, to return back to the homescreen.
For example, if I'm using the facebook app, and watch a couple of videos along with opening a few external links, when i press the home button, the whole home "loads" from start. I mean, i literally see nothing for a second, then it slowly loads widgets and icons. After it's been loaded, everything works flawlessly again, but if i open facebook again, use it for a while and press the home screen, it loads again.
Mind that i have no custom drawer (i tried Themer, it gives me the same error, it says "loading homescreen" when the problem appears) but the problem is still there with the stock homescreen. I tried force-closing the apps i used, thinking about a memory issue, but to no avail. I have to turn off and turn on the device, and everything works wonders again.
Is there any app that could help me with this issue? I'd like to understand why it's doing this and which app is slowing down my phone.

I am not Sure whether this is 100% sure, But have heard that there is a memory leak issue in lollipop. Which might be the reason of ur problem. And the oly way get enough memory is to restart. But again, I am not Sure whether the above information is correct though.

I've heard that too, but it's strange that it has appeared only now. I haven't had this kind of issue ever since i updated it.
The FB app is just real buggy. My personal theory is whatever that app does exposes the Lollipop memory leak.

Yep i know about that, the FB app is just horrible script-wise. Nevertheless, i've never had THIS problem. And even if i forceclose it, it doesn't solve the problem anyway.
Hi everyone, ever since the update, my apps stop running in the background when I close the app. Example: I don't get Whatsapp notifications anymore unless I open the app and keep it open. If I close all open apps, I will no longer receive any of the notifications for any of them.
I went into the battery settings disabled battery saver mode but that didn't do anything.
I would appreciate any help you could provide.

It's apparently one of the issues with the latest OTA update, where closing all running apps will terminate the background processes associated with the apps closed. Prior to the update and the Close All button being added to the recent apps list, I don't think it had this problem (I don't use Whatsapp, but my Skype and Discord notifications still come through even if I don't have them on my recent apps list).
This is a little frustrating. Noticed that I wasn't getting any notifications from tasker, pushover, textra, hangouts, inbox and etc.
Also noticed that pushover will not update unless it is off of wifi. All my other devices receive notifications on this wifi. IE nothing blocked.
I have had to open all the programs that I want to receive notifications from, open. Not the best work around.

I noticed that on occasion there will be small text under the new button that says "long press to set up apps that could run in the background" I do it but it doesn't seem to do anything, maybe free up some of the RAM but that's about it. I'm wondering if there is a bug and if it's supposed to show something.
Has anyone else tried the long press?
As of now all I do is keep a folder on the desktop labeled background apps. It helps big time when I accidentally tap the close all button. But my solution as of now is to keep things open that don't seem to work in the background. I've been experimenting with what works and it seems like in some recent app updates they begin to work without being open. I know for sure that facebook and now facebook messenger work without being open, as well as some google services. I have a memory clearer app that I use when I'm not using my phone so it clears whatever it can without killing the apps. But that's what I have as of now, trial and error to figure out what I need to leave open and what I can close. And I strongly recommend the folder, I have had many times where I accidentally close everything and forget what I had to leave open.
It's a bummer though, I just bought the phone and then this update came out. Kinda kills the excitement of getting a new awesome phone if I have to deal with this frustration :/ Other than that, it's definately a nice step up from a Samsung S4.

Misbehave as in not show anything after a long press?
Yes, nothing happens anytime I try it. After reboot, the first time I pull up the running apps is when I get the prompt. After the first long press after a reboot, the prompt is gone. If I have an app open and then I do the long press, I am taken back to the desktop, but no matter what I try, nothing seems to happen after the long press other than being taken back to the desktop if I had an app open.
I have the same issue, I thought it was a Internet connection issue (see my thread) but after digging deeper realised my background apps werent running after closing them and the long press option does nothing.
I have the same problem. Any solution?

I've just installed the new update and it looks like the issues I had with background apps closing when clearing all apps has been fixed. I've got no apps running in the foreground yet can see Whatsapp, Fitbit, etc still running and I'm receiving notifications for them.
