I have a viewsonic g tablet Clockwork mod with TNT Lite 4.2.4. Every time I open the web browser and input anything with the keyboard the browser closes. Any ideas how to fix this. There are 3 keyboards listed in setting, an NI, Android and tap & tap. All other input works fine with other apps. Only the web browser closes on input. Please help. I can't figure this out.
Thanks
Stock browser? Try another browser and see if it happens in that too. If it does you may just want to re flash your rom. From experience 1 in 3 flashes wont be perfect and will have its own qwirks. From weird app ticks to random reboots and bricking. Always backup and always follow the propper flashing steps.

Thanks for the reply. When reflashing is it best to do a wipe and clean reflash or is it ok to just overwrite? What is a good backup program for google store apps so that updates will be applied rather than just doing a sideload with the apk files.

I always full wipe. Data,cash,davlic.
If your planning on doing any kind of flashing in the future I would suggest purchasing titanium backup. It will save all your apps and user setting, app data and bookmarks.
It has saved me tons of time and agrevation. If I need to re flash I just do a full wipe and then install the stock rom. Then sideload titanium and full restore. I only had to do the market fix once since I purchased titanium not every time I flashed like before. It is very worth the few bucks if you are like me and value the freetime you use playing with/flashing your Gtab.
Hope that helped,

Hi - I have the stock rooted EE4 ROM, and I needed to do a factory reset this afternoon. Before the reset, I backed up all my apps with MyBackup Pro.
While it restored mostly OK, I seem to be stuck now.
A number of my apps show that they need to be updated.
However, my Market app is the old one (probably the one that was embedded in the ROM). Now, whenever I try to update (or, install) any of my apps, the download just seems to abort after a second, and none of my apps are getting updated/installed.
It doesn't matter if it is a new or old app - nothing gets downloaded. I do have 3G/4G data available, since I can browse OK, and the Market does show apps in its GUI.
How do I fix this?
Thanks ...

Go settings=>applications=>manage applications=>all applications=>market and clear data on the market. Also if you used the factory reset through settings=>privacy, you should never do this from a custom ROM. You should only use that option from a stock ROM.
Awesome, Landshark! That worked!
If I could "thank" you 5 times, I would!
Cheers!
Hi all,
When i reflash a new rom, all my apps which are supposed to just re download on their own get to a point and then about 30 + of them just fail.
Sometimes it says that there isn't enough space on the SD card, even though i've got plenty (16GB)
It's a real ballache to have to re download them one at a time and if i have to reboot then i lose the collection and that means i have to remember them and i always seem to forget some.
I only use titanium for a couple of apps because i don't see the point seeing as the android market usually does a good enough job of restoring my apps on it's own.
Rom's which this has happened with:
Coredroid
Insertcoin
P3D Sense
Android Revolution.
I always do a full wipe regardless of whether i'm instructed to or not, i format my card after every other flash of a rom and everything is usually tip top.
I'm about to re install a rom now and i'm betting that the same thing happens again.
Any help with this would be a great help.
Many thanks.

Your /cache partition is filling up while performing all the simultaneous downloads during the restore process. Android then aborts the download. You need to delete the orphaned apk files in that folder to clear the cache.
I think Google needs to improve the smarts in the restore process to prevent the cache from filling up
nvm Rumball beat me.

Nice one for that, but wouldn't i be clearing it by wiping the cache just before i flash the rom?
Would a second wipe help?
EDIT: Sonofabiiiatch it happened again, this is a pain in the ass man.
No, because its filling up because of your downloads, all the downloads at once have to store the files in the cache before installing it and with 30+ downloads it fills up quick, because of this i only ever use titanium to restore app.

Ah i see, but what if titanium restores apps which the market is already restoring? Won't you end up with two sets of everything?
Sounds silly but it's partly the reason why i don't use titanium so much.
EDIT: Shame on google for having such a **** part to their system.
just after you wipe , go to the market app and cancel all the downloads then dl titanium and restore, problem solved, and if your using the newer market, then it should just be a simple cancel all button on the top. Titanium also has the option of only restoring the apps you are missing.

Ahh i've not seen that option, i'll look into it next time i'm going to flash a new rom which won't be long Thanks for all your help m8. I appreciate it.
Just an FYI , the option is found by opening the menu and then selecting batch, it will bring up a bunch of option for restoring, wiping and backing up.
Hey Guys!
So I've been around the place for a while, usually passive. I rooted my phone a few months back, and left it at that coz i was too scared of bricking my new phone . But now getting tired of waiting for the official ICS (Not the buggy leak) has got me thinking of getting a custom Rom (cant decide between Victory or Romulus).
I've just installed CMW, and my phones backing up as we speak. My question is this, is it possible to restore a partial backup? Im hoping that once i get the custom rom up and running, i can restore my contacts, texts and apps onto my new rom. I know titanium backup can restore apps but i assume all that is gone once i format before installing the rom, right?
Thanks guys any help appreciated!

When you install any new ROM, you (usually) need to perform a full wipe through CWM including: wipe user data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik, then flash. Now, that will delete ALL of your stuff, contacts, texts, apps, etc. However, if you have access to WiFi, when your ROM flash has completed, you will be prompted to re-enter your Google account and, at which time, your contacts will re-populate (give it some time). Though, be sure you sync with Google's servers prior to your flash, so that any new contacts will be re-added once your account has been added after the flash. Also, if on WiFi, when your account has been entered, go to Google Play Store, and click the "my apps" button, and again after some time (depending on the number of apps you had) they too will re-populate. As far as texts, you could try a text backup app -not too familiar with this, as I don't ever have a need to save any texts- and you should be good. Word of warning: DO NOT use Titanium Backup to restore ANY application data, only the apps themselves. Also, another good alternative to TIB is App Backup & Restore. Hopefully, this clears up any doubts you have with your "stuff" and how to retrieve it after a flash...
Apex used capital letters in "do not restore app data" with good reason. Only a handful of times have I not followed those directions and every time I got weird fc's and an overall more unstable system. It's a shame there isn't a good way to do it but it only leads to heartache. Always keep a solid backup. I keep two. One original and another after a couple days on a new rom so that I'm able to experiment down the line.
I hope you have a good experience with your new system and learn a bit. It gets a little addicting.

So, once i clear everything and flash, to get back my apps all i have to do is reinstall "App Backup and Restore" then I can restore any saved apps? Because looking at the play store, the list in my apps (Not Installed) is too long, and contains apps that i simply installed to try and immediately removed.
One more thing as well, well actually 2. I was watching a video by mastermind278 on youtube on how to install custom Roms. He installs a rom by selecting restore from cmw recovery, so my question is, does that restore method work for installing most Roms, say for example, the Romulus rom? And finally, are the separate mods installed in the same way?

You can 'manually' select which apps you'd like to restore from within this app, so if there are some you'd rather forgo restoring, you can pick and choose.
As far as the flashing method through CWM, you'll just have to read and understand each of the ROM's flashing methods, as some of the GB ROM installs are different (flash or CWM restore). All of which are detailed in the threads for these ROM's. Along with that, any mods you'd like, you'll just need to refer to the install instructions for each...

Hi!
I did search and was hoping to find a 'Titanium Backup' section within XDA all I saw where threads in various sections. So if there is one and I should be posting there just let me know!
I will explain my situation;
I'm have a Nexus 5 that is unlocked and rooted. Within Google's update last night I had to reboot my phone and all of a sudden com.android.ui force closes and nothing worked. I wasn't able to tap on any app, app draw, dock .. nothing.
Here's where my ignorance comes to play. Could I have restored my phone from a backup which was only 3 days old without having to wipe it?
Yeah, I wiped the phone, re-rooted and let all the Google apps update and I'm bringing down my Titanium backup from the cloud to the device to restore my apps from it.
So could I have done this in a better way? If there is the next time I'll do it!
And is there some definitive guide on Titanium Backup? I followed a YouTube tut and it appeared to be have captured what I needed but I feel that there's more to it! I just feel I should be using that app to backup more than just my apps + data.
Hope you can help!
Thanks!

Hi Dave,
Unfortunately I would suggest to do first a wipe cache/dalvik cache before trying a factory reset.
Restoring apps system with Titanium is not really recommended (become worst than before). I tried and had many force close on system ui during the test.

P.

I'm bit past that point. I wasn't restoring system app .. just user apps + data. That's one thing that I caught on to when I was learning about backup up was things NOT to backup and system apps where one!
Somebody in the G+ Xposed community told me to wipe cache was well. And my reply was the same that if the UI has force closed and nothing is responsive then how can I do this?
You'll have to pardon my ignorance as this is the first time I've encountered a problem like this. I've been pretty blessed so far! =)

does the Nexus 5 comes which a standard recovery where you can do it ... otherwise install a custom recovery.
but if you could access to titanium application with the constant popup, it has a option to clean cache.
good luck

The other source I'd tapped told me since I have a custom recovery that I able to wipe cache and dalvik cache as well. This person has had the same issue.
So ... I learned something new today! =)
Hope you will get a full functional phone after that
also don't backup/restore system app files/ ie messaging> call log etc between different versions or different types of android

Yep, I said that third post down! =)
Only thing was I was expecting to be able to restore from the cloud. Instead I had to copy everything from the cloud back down to the phone.
Phone works though.
But in my case I was told to get into recovery which I had done but after that had no idea what to do. Wiping and restoring was a bit premature.
So I have been using TB for years now, since back in the day that I had the HTC Hero and I have never had a problem with it until now. There are some certain apps that it will just not restore no matter what I try. It begins restoring the others just fine but when it gets to the same exact apps, it just stops and freezes.
I am using the Restore missing apps with data option.
I have tried deleting all backups and backing up again. I have tried verifying my backups various times. I have also tried not using batch restore for those specific apps (Going directly to that app and restoring just that one app with and without data, and it just hangs as well).
I am using SuperSU with my binary updated and busy box installed. I also changed the application processing mode to indirect. Is anyone else having this same issue? Its not on one specific rom, it happens on every rom I flash may it be stock based or aosp. I have exactly 112 apps backed up so when I have to force stop TB, and go back to uncheck the apps that are not restoring various times to restore the rest, it sucks especially since I am very picky with things working as they should.
Apps it will not restore:
Tippy Tipper
Subway Surfer
Nimble Quest
Battlefriends at sea gold
Commander (Star wars)
Instasize
If anyone has any idea what may be causing this and how to fix it, please let me know. Thank you beforehand!
What kernel do you have installed?
Stock CM that came with the official CM12 rom.
But either way, I have had this issue on every rom I have flashed.

I was on a diff rom tho. Maybe I'll flash another rom.

If you go to the play store are you able to install them? I have had a few that i can't restore, but once I've installed them from the play store I can restore the backed up data. I haven't been able to figure out why some restore and others don't (unless they aren't compatible with the DPI and the Android version I've found a few that when you look them up in the play store they are not compatible)

I have been able to install them from the play store without any issue, I just can't restore them using TB no matter what I try. And its weird that its the same apps every time. So it is something that those apps have that does not get along. Can someone manipulate the situation and check on their end? I am running Illusion (Latest version from the 18th) and latest version of TB. See if you can restore those specific apps backed up from any rom.
Try changing the mount namespace separation setting in super su. I got that message when I first installed titanium it was a warning I don't know what it does or if it will fix your problem
I realized today that when backing up the specific apps after deleting all backups (Fresh backup), it rushes through those specific apps like as if it doesn't want to back it up but it doesn't give me an error message.
some apps don't like restoring to a different rom than they were made on.
Have you tried using the option in TB to create an update.zip you can then flash?
Hi there in desperation I come to this thread. Ive tried everything thats suggested in this thread and more.
TT backup Pro home page shows all necessary items like Root etc checked.
Problems with Pro:
1..Nandroid restore crashes immediately on item selection eg as soon as Menu Item Nandroid is selected Titanium crashes.
2..As mentioned by others, some apps wont restore; TT sits there in restore mode with nothing happening. This is on several apps.
3..Menu/Backup data to XML Bookmarks=yes Messages=yes Call log=crash/'Unfortunately, TT bup has stopped.'
4..Several other annoyances in reliability but the above are most important.
I have politely asked Titanium for support but they dont bother answering. After a few days waiting I gave the app a feedback of 1 on Play thinking that would get some response but no!
In 20 years of computer work, I have never had a software supplier with such a terrible support policy, and the feedback page for this app supports this comment.
Im sorry to have to come to this forum asking for help, but the Titanium folks leave me no choice.
As an aside I also use 'Backup Your Mobile' which IMHO is better at restoring settings and reliably restores apps with settings at no cost if you can put up with the ads.
Kind regards,
Alistair.
Since this post and no replies I have submitted 2 more support requests with TTBup support which is done via a web page interface. I even supplied a small video showing the problem. Alogcat does not report any errors which is odd.
Still no replies from TTBup support.
