Useful app for those with cases - G Tablet General

Hello! Fahrbot Mobile are running a closed beta of Killswitch, an app that allows you to put your tablet into standby by simply shutting the case.
We have no GTab at the office, so it would be good to have a few beta testers from this forum.
You can find the app thread HERE.
Thanks.

PM sent your way.

PM'd as well.

PM on the way

I really don't see how "closing a case" on a tablet can do anything since there is no physical button being pressed or anything.

Let me guess you are one of those that posts questions without searching and reading if topics are already there on the subject?
I ask this because if you bothered to "READ" and click the link you would see how they are doing this.

I have read nothing myself, but if the guy would think a little bit he would realize the tablet has an ambient light sensor, thus they are using this to pick up on the fact that the cover is closed on the device.
He probably doesn't even own a G Tab, thus the reason for the seemingly un-researched question.

Hi everyone, and thanks to those that participated in the beta! The RC is now ready and will be avaliable on the android market at around 4PM GMT.

Hi guys, just a quick reminder to all those who did participate in the beta: we still havent got a single logcat from GTab owners.
People are reporting that the light sensor is not working under CM7, and we need to confirm whether this is true, so please get in touch with me and let me know.
So far Killswitch has been tested bug-free on Galaxy Tab and Moto Xoom. No light sensor at all on the Vega, so facedown only for those kids

Well, give us a definitive answer. Does it work with the gtab or not?

Well, if it has a light meter it should work just fine. It does on every device we have in the office running 2.2+.
EDIT: i just got a reply from the person who was having GTab issues on CM7 and he says:
Sorry, I undid the fugutweaks before I read your reply and this appears to have cured the problem!

So it looks like everything is working just fine!

Works perfectly on xoom. Still waiting for gtab tests.

I commented in the market. Cm7 rc2 flip was working and the option to auto unlock was working. Ligt only would work if set to 1% and then it through up the message tellin me it was gonna close every minute or so. Now its not working at all. If you tell me how to i would be happy to send you whatever report you need. Will pm you too.

Ok so i feel foolish. Turns out there must have been an update and i have set to auto update and never turned it back on. Oops. Guess i will have to remember that if it doesnt run agian.
Will have to test light sensor again.
Sent from my GTablet using Tapatalk

Hello everyone! The app has been positive reviews now from lots of people, but i see there are only a few GTab users.
Could those using it please provide some feedback so we can improve the app, as we dont have a GTablet at the office?

Well that's obnoxious...

So I come back from my very first day off from work in two weeks and find my thread closed? What gives?
I'm sorry, I do have a life outside of XDA. FYI, I'm an adult with a mortgage, two car payments, a wife, a 15 month old daughter, and a live-in mother-in-law. I've worked everyday for the past two weeks and because you guys haven't had any updates you close my thread?
I was planning on releasing the update I've been working on during the nights when I haven't come home and just passed out, which HAS the working power menu and battery mods not to mention testing throughout the past 3 days to make sure there were no bugs, but you know what, I think I'll just sit on it.
Thanks for nothing, maybe I'll see you over in the G2x forums in a month or so.

wow... really? so does that mean a mod just randomly closed it? lol. i sent one of my GS4Gs to Krylon360 today. UPS tracking # is 1Z0209FW0303104104. so keep going on this phone man... it's a great phone. just needs some dev love.
I thought that was a bit strange to of locked it as well, especially since there was no mob posting at the end explaining why it was locked. Maybe it was a mistake? Don't hold out on use because of a mistake, we love your work! I understand life gets stressful outside of xda, heck I figured you were close to releasing something new anyways based on the your steady flow of updates.
I hope to see your thread reopened and to continue seeing you around here until the 20th or so when you move on I'll probably follow in stride with you there too, but I got to get these 2 phones taken care of first unfortunately.
Damn shadowman....give em hell. I personally would like to thank you for your work. I hope you change your mind. Either way thanks.
hit up Mr. Clown to see why it was closed. I've been busy job hunting so haven't been keeping up on stuff.
I hope you reconsider not posting here too, Shadowman. No one here knows who closed your post or why they did. Obviously some mod screwed up. But please don't hold that against the entire community.
Your rom is excellent work and many of us are grateful for all of your efforts to jump start sgs4g development. So thank you! And yes--for what it's worth--I'm sure most of us are very patient here. I for one have life and job issues too--so I completely understand time away...

yeah man! I was wondering why the thread was close! considering this is the only custom rom we have! I've been doing support while you were gone and the next thing I know it was closed! this is a bummer!
I'm sure it was a mistake, I don't think they would close a thread for that reason? please don't give up on us, this is the only rom we have...
Sounds like we have mods trying to sabotage this phone too? what the heck man..
It's gotta be a mistake man, some mod just got confused or slipped up. There's no reason that thread should be locked. Take a deep breath, check back in a few hours, I'm sure it'll get cleared up.
Hey shadow.
Good to see it wasn't just you leaving. We all obviously appreciate what you do. I thought it was strange that the thread just closed. I am sure if you pm Mr.clown he will open it up. He was in here closing a few other threads that deserved to be closed. I bet yours was by accident.

AOKP JB [strike]discussion[/strike] [insert]Q&A[/insert] thread

I am starting this thread to maintain discussion of AOKP jb. Hopefully to pick up where the development thread left off. I'm not sure exactly why that thread is locked but I know that r4ins has NOT stopped developing AOKP for the skyrocket and it would still help progress that development if there were still a place to discuss. (I think it would also be best NOT to mention the circumstances that led to the locking of the AOKP development thread elsewise this one will likely end up locked shortly thereafter as well)
You can find r4ins builds in his goo.im folder. Since this isn't his thread there are no constraints on what will be considered "official r4ins approved releases". Basically anyone that downloads from there is testing. And other users can decide to run a build or not based on the discussion here. There's no lack of people willing to test a new AOKP build, so hopefully we can still post our findings here for other users. Kinda like baconstep's cm9 nightly discussion thread, except it's for us AOKP buttlings.
I didn't ask r4ins permission to start this thread but since we all creep his goo folder looking for new builds anyway, and we can't talk about it there, this would be the best place for it.
Link to r4ins goo.im folder:
http://goo.im/devs/R4INS
Just make sure anything you download says SKYROCKET on it.
Test builds will be labeled as such for those wary of flashing something not completely tested, builds deemed "stable" by r4ins and the testers will be dated.
You can get an idea of what changes might be included with each build by checking out this site: http://gerrit.sudoservers.com/#/q/status:merged,n,z

Not being able to off-topic your own thread is crap but such is life. Still not really sure what a certain MOD was thinking there but I'm sure he was just doing his job. Half of what made your thread so enjoyable was some off-topicness. It's nice not to see people so damn serious all the time in a dev thread. Let it blow over than make your decision. Stay or go you still get a ton of respect from me for your work here so far. Thanks and see you soon.

R4ins, you're awesome! I'm getting 14+ hours out of a single charge with normal to heavy use (calls, texts, data on, games, etc.) on the sep 9.2 build. Great build.
How are people getting 2 days on a charge? Or is that bs?
Bugs for 2012-09-14-2
Unfortunate enough, I am still getting ramdom shutdowns with AOKP. Version 2012-09-14-2 didnt improve in that area.
1 crash while the phone on top of my desktop and an incoming call arrived.
2 crashes while doing nothing other than moving the app drawer.
Samsung logo appears, and the screen goes black. Need a force rebook to get the phone working.
Going back to Samsung Stock ICS , Certainly these AOKP are plain fast, but as I depend a lot on my mobile phone, I need it to be stable

If you wait too long and it picks up mobile data it wont ask for wifi. If you hit next, and yes to the gmail account really fast before data kicks in it will ask for wifi. I'm a crack flasher so i have that down pat lol.

One: by steering clear of smurfs village,
Two (and more substantially): by being connected to WiFi for two days. I usually only have to charge once on weekends, but during the work week I tend to get around 8-10 hours with maybe an hour and a half at most of screen on time.

I wouldn't blame you at all, man.
Downloading 9-14-2 to flash later. I had flashed the 1st 9-14 (dirty) and that didn't work out too well.. just a lot of flicker, and kind of janky all around. But it's cool, it wasn't ready anyhow.
So, is 9-14-2 the newest or is it still in the testing phase?

[ROM]CM9 Unofficial Alpha 1

Hey guys,
I saw interloper posted his CM10, so I figured I should get in on the fun and post my CM9 work.
Now this is ALPHA so there are a lot of things broken. I haven't really had time to test all the things broken, but here's the short list:
Radios (all - cell, wifi, bt)
Cam
Probably accelerometer
So obviously this is NOT going to be your daily driver. This is just a preview of what is to come!
Also, if anyone has any ideas on how I can improve, please let me know! A lot of people have helped get this booting - Shabbypenguin started the ball rolling, interloper has helped with tips, and a slew of others that don't even have a Photon Q have helped me understand how to get this up and running. Of course Cyanogen for the awesome community, and Google for being the grandfather of this madness.
So it boots, but very little will work. Touch works, and any apps that don't use the above hardware should work as well. Without wifi or cell radios, the build is kinda useless - I realize this. But, I'm hoping maybe it'll attract some more developer attention - thanks!!!

Post #2 will probably be buglist
Post #3 will probably be changelog
post 4 will be mine

I have always asked myself why on this great and other main forums, arrogant people that think themselves so above the rest, come to every thread to post a reply even more stupid than the one they critic.
This is first of all an informative forum, people come here to learn about their devices, so far I haven't seen anyone posting about it, so I came here to inform all of you about it, if you don't like it, just keep on moving, others may appreciate knowing about it.

All that dude does is go around posting pointless insults. And not in the "search first, noob" kind of way, but rather in the "I don't get enough attention and have to take out my lack of self esteem on internet forums" kind of way.
Best way to deal with people (and I use the term loosely) like that is to completely ignore them. Nothing pisses of someone trying to seem important or insulting than completely disregarding what they're saying. You can't reason with ignorance. But you can piss it off by ignoring it.

Lol, some people... good response OP.

Actually some of these "gimmicky" features, as some people refer to them, need highlighted. So, thanks OP--:0
And yes a few here take every opportunity to bash someone, they are on every Forum I have been on from day one. Just best not to respond. Playing Devil's advocate though, I do sometimes respond to those who want the step by step answer with no research on their own. Main reason I don't like that is that they are doing themselves a disservice by not learning the how and why things are done the way they are in flashing roms. It will come back to haunt them.
I actually use a number of these features and they work very well. Except :eye" scrolling. Hopefully that will be improved and hope app devs and Goolge allow more programs to use these features.
There are too many negative comments on these features here and in reviews along with the screen issue to cause people to hesitate buying this phone. So, these goodies need highlighted in these threads from time to time. It is absolutely a fantastic phone. Functional and Fun at the same time--
Best I have ever owned. Not that I didn't love my Nexus One and HTC One S, but technology just keeps producing better products. And 5 inch is perfect screen size for me.

It will work on Flip Board and Stock Calendar. Do you have it selected in Options?
Can't recall what others atm
EDIT: Oh, works on speed dial--hover over number and contact comes up. don't have to memorize my speed dials now--
Also, by accident had it work on Music Player. If you hover over the lower Next and Previous symbols it will tell you next/previous song. These are when Music player is full screen with Album Art.

Great news it seems! Has anyone seen this??

This was the only reason I had to refund my poco.
If this gets confirmed I'll be more than glad to get it once again.
What do you guys think?
Seems like the real deal to me.

One word sums up my feelings about this perfectly.
I really hope this will be the real deal so I can get it back ASAP.
It's literally the only device that covers all my needs, any other device I'd get I'd have to compromise on something.
I have read the post, I understand why he can't share out the fix. Because he has no right to do that. Some jerks there are trying to provoke him and xiaomi for not share out.

Well I wouldn't share it either.
This would break their trust and besides that it may have side effects in the long term we are not aware of, they may need to finalize the firmware before rolling it out.

Agree, people provide a secret firmware fix as a trust to you, just don't break the trust. Some 'Clever' people are simply ridiculous.
Some said he will share straight away once he confirms it is fixed.
some ask the OP to upload the fix at some other link so people can share the fix..
Omg, they are so 'clever'.

Heh, I like the way you put it.
Seriously, they need to get a life.
I saw there is one large jerk who has sold his poco f1 because of the touch issue and change to Nokia 7 plus.
Now that this post is out, he is now spamming and spreading virus in there.
He must be so sad that the fix is out but he can't do anything because he has sold it already.
I will pray for him.........to get Tombstone Piledriver by The Undertaker and Attitude Adjustment by Joooohhhnnnnnn Ceeeeeeeeeennnnaaaaaaa!!!!!

Look I was unoptimistic as well, but this has been fixed before with this exact same method on another device I owned myself, so it can be fixed.
The thing is Xiaomi hasn't ever provided feedback on this issue, that's why everyone, me included, thought this wouldn't get fixed.
Now that we have video evidence I'm confident this will be resolved as well.
P. S. if you're baiting, it's a hell of a bad one fyi.
nobody noticed that in the video , his ping ms was over 1000 in the beginning ?

LOL MAN.
What the hell does ping have to do with screen input latency?
The measuring is done with the android developer option: "Show pointer location." not with PUBG.
Ping has nothing to do with that.
If you had some basic technology knowledge you would know these are different things and wouldn't have posted what you posted.

No answers from Xiaomi and they remove info about bug in official post, I can't show u link to post on forum because I'm new at this forum.
So my Hope is down.
How long we must wait?! This phone was released 3 months ago. And bug still there...

I hear you.
Well since a dev managed to find a fix I'd think this would be included in the next beta or two, and most likely in the next stable as well.
(if no side effects are found that is)
I understand your frustration, but don't tell me about it, since this annoyed me so much that I refunded my phone just for this, and use a redmi note 3, my backup phone, for the time being.

It seems your inteligence reaches the level of a pineapple.
Not gonna bother explaining what kind of lag is the one you refering vs the real issue this device has.
You either understand or not.
Also google is your friend, use it.
And yes of course I saw the video, if it wasn't clear to me this was a real fic I wouldn't have made the thread, I have enough experience with electronics to understand, that's what I studied and got a degree in as well.

Here is official response from Alvis(Head of Pocophone global)
https://mobile.twitter.com/atytse/status/1061252037315305478
Enjoy.
Ugh, I'm sick of them talking and throwing empty promises at us, just implement the fix and be done with it already... Anyway, the guy who received the fix said it didn't work with the latest Pie beta so they will have to rework it for new updates if they really plan on releasing it at all.
