Hi,
I'm still waiting for OTA notification to uptade my Nexus S (version number GRH78C) to 2.3.3.
I don't want to do it manually because I wonder how long should I wait for OTA and how it works. It is my first Android.
I know that I need to leave active WiFi connection to receive the update, but do I need to leave checked 'data connection' to receive the notification or WiFi is enought?
cheers,

I think wifi alone is all you need if possible. You'll be fine
You can force a check-in by dialing *#*#CHECKIN#*#* on your phone.
If there are OS or App updates available, you will receive a prompt.
it works on both 3G and WiFi
Hi there, you need a wifi or 3G. Mine OTA came on last monday and the phone was bought on 20ths of december... notice that the OTA comes by IMEI number, and google anounces that could "take weeks" to hit everyone.
feel free pra trocar figurinhas sobre o nexus ><
Thanks everyone!

Has anyone else experienced this? The update downloaded and installed just fine. All apps seem to run fine, just cannot connect to my wifi network. In fact it doesn't seem to even see any networks.
I did not have my device activated for a Verizon Data Plan, and when I try and go through the "Activate Device" process that fails as well.
Thanks

Which update did you apply, was it an OTA update or one you found someplace else either on XDA or grabbed from the web?
As far as I know the only working update for a 3g Xoom is going out OTA to testers, and no one has grabbed a link for the zip install, so what did you install?

I installed the OTA using the trick to stop Google Framework Services and force the update check.
Before I have you go and do a whole bunch of crazy stuff, let me ask the simple question...have you rebooted your tablet and tried WiFi again?
Also, just so I understand the exact problem, is it that WiFi won't turn on, or is it that it does turn on but just doesn't find any WiFi networks?
Seems okay here. Unrooted and relocked and manually applied updates one by one.

It's that it doesn't find any networks.
EDIT: works now, for some reason after the update wifi was set to 5GHz only and couldn't find any networks. Setting it to Auto resolves the issue. Strangely also the Verizon 3g works now as well.
Thanks for the responses.
wifi not working after Jelly Bean update
My Xoom tablet (Wi-Fi only) just got an OTA update to Jelly Bean.
The Wi-Fi network has stopped working. The network is found and shows as "saved". If I tell the tablet to forget the connection, it will re-save it but it will not process the "connect" command. I am trying to connect to an open hotel network while on business travel. I was connected to this network during the upgrade but now I can't reconnect. I've rebooted and it doesn't do anything different.
Also, when the tablet boots, it still displays the ICS splash screens but after it boots, it has all the new Jelly Bean features.
I am currently unable to use the tablet at all for networking since it does not have any cellular capability.
What now????
=========
UPDATE: After sitting with Wi-Fi turned off and sleeping for about 20 minutes, the Wi-Fi now is working. I didn't touch anything. Previously, it wouldn't load the network and I rebooted it at least 4 times. Weird. but now it's working so I'm happy...

Mmmmmm idk if HTC is right to contact with this and idk. If they'll Care ...my honest is advice would be to say f u to that 2.20 device go return it if you can and get one on 1.85 or lower and root and install rom and problem will go bye bye
Hey guys,
Having an issue with WiFi since the Marshmallow update. We have an open WiFi network at work that you need to sign in to the firewall to access internet. Previously it worked fine, but after the Marshmallow update, my phone constantly drops the WiFi network. It always happens when I lock the phone or otherwise let the screen turn off for more than about a minute, but it also happens even when I'm using my phone, if I'm on for more than about 5 minutes on average it drops the network. When I go to reconnect, it lists under the SSID "Internet not available" but I just tap the network and tap connect and it connects anyway, doesn't even make me sign into the firewall again. I'd really appreciate some help with this, if I can't get this fixed I'll be doing away with Android for good. I don't use my phone for much other than Facebook and games, so I'm not at all opposed to using a custom ROM if that would help. Just haven't installed one since CM7 on my HTC Evo Shift, so I duno which would be best for my situation. Thanks in advance for any input!
Bump. Hopefully someone has a solution...
One more bump before I give up...
Hi, I'm on stock firm, and after the last upgrade, I cannot connect to my work's wifi network. It's a EAP-MSCHAP2 connection. At home, wifi works flawlessly....

try talking to your system administrator at work. The upgrade may cause a comparability issue that maybe fixed by a simple tweak at work.
This update broke USB tethering for me. I now receive a "Authentication Unsuccessful please contact blah blah blah". They should provide this information in the BASIC UPDATE INFO at least. If SOMETHING else happened to change this on my phone IMMEDIATELY after I did the update then I apologize for the incorrect information but I truly believe it was the update as no other changes have been made.
Have they halted the update

Nope I received it today when I put my sim back in my G4. Update went fine. Will test tethering in a little bit.
Tethering works for me so far. Wifi calling is still "activating".
EDIT: Wifi calling set up complete, and tethering still works. Perhaps it is a plan limitation that is now being enforced?

When I try to connect to Samsung update server (Settings --> Software update) connection fails (timeout after a minute or so)

Its not related to my connection, good signal on both WiFi and cell.
I have this crazy need of checking every week, and always get a return message saying that I already have the latest software installed.
Then some weeks ago connection to Samsung server totally failed and I haven't got any response since.
I think Samsung server is down and need some to confirm the actual situation

Yeah, it happens sometimes on phones. Just manually flash the updates with the HOME_CSC so it doesn't factory reset the phone
