Hello ya'll, I'm new to the DInc (Eris took a shiz) and after I rooted with Unrevoked I searched and searched for the Wireless Tether app I had grown to love with my eris running 2.1
I found the developers website on google and after reading through all the coments I finally found a working (not on market) version.
Download, find the APK with a root explorer (I used Astro), then open App Manager and finally install.
Plug in your USB cable and tap on the app to open it.
Enjoy ya'll
Here's the link:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre7.apk
Sweet thx!

am I missing something here? thats the normal wireless tether included with almost all custom roms...not a wired tether and thats also an older version.

As I implied, I'm stock with root. No custom rom.
The market version doesn't work, requiring you to look for alternatives.

Is it possible? If it is, what's the best app for our hero? Even if its a paid app I would pay. I tried searching but I just could not find anywhere that it's possible on our hero's, so anyone who knows a workaround......

Because we don't have our kernel. The app even says it does not support our phone when you start it....
Thanks for the info! I hope we get it soon!
Posted this in General but did not hear anything. I dont mean to spam. Just looking for a solution.
For those who have an android phone running froyo your probably aware that hulu had blocked their site from android users. Generally in the past there were methods around this which involved installing a modified flash.apk.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688054
Okay so I went ahead and removed the previously installed flash apk (use root explorer to do it) then I use adb to install it. The next step involved using the debug mode in the browser to make our seem like it is a desktop. Well when I type about:debug in my browser and go into the settings there is no option to change it to desktop. I only see these options:
So my question is, how the heck do we get hulu working?! When I used skyfire to and switched it to the desktop view, it said I didn't have flash installed. Any ideas?
update:
okay so i found a thread on XDA that seemed to get me a lil further but not where i wanna be.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...794512&page=12
this thread suggest that you just install the latest flash.apk and just replace the lib file they give u with the one that comes preinstalled. doing that gets me an error on hulu:
"Unfortunately Hulu is not supported on your platform. We apologize for any inconvenience."
Before, I just got an error saying that they are gonna bring hulu plus to android but thats about it. yes i changed it to desktop and even tried it on skyfire. nothing.
anyone?

Ive gone through the same steps ( own a nexus one and had hulu running fine) ran into the same issues on the tab. Hulu is on it, they dont want mobile browsing on the site without paying. Channelsurfing.net and atdhe.net work on the tab just fine.

Thanks for the sites but unfortunately it doesn't have my anime. I'm following a new series and its only available through funamation which posts everything on hulu. Would really love to get this working.

I have that's why l am asking the question trying to connect to my transformer. With out using theT mobile. Hot spot barnacle didn't work I also try'd Open garden that was the closet one to working but my Tf kept searching for IP address.
Did you try searching for the stock WiFi Hotspot app that came on the Sensation (at least for tmobile)? I'd search for that.
EDIT: Found this link to wifirouter.apk for you - might be able to try it out and see if it works.
WiFiRouter.apk
can someone create a zip that i can flash to my phone so that i can use my usb cable to my phone to get internet from my laptop ...
running hellfire sandwich v1.6
probably not, if your laptop has a sticker on it saying it was built for windows 7, then you can get a program that will allow your laptop to become a hotspot (like our phones can) if not then its most likely going to be some kind of 3rd party app on both your phone and your computer.
Search the Google Play Store, and Google. if nothing shows up then your probably out of luck.
i have an app on my phone called 'reverse tether' but it doesnt wanna connect ..

the zip is corrupt, link to the download in the app store itself instead.
also, read the description carefully, most of those types of apps need a program to run on the computer too.
try it now .. thx

no, i cant help unless i know where you got the apk from. was it from the google market? did it come with instructions? was it a 3rd party app store? what versions of android is it made for? does it need a program to run on the computer as well?
i need a link to where you got it from.
got it on the market.. its made for droid 2.2+ there isnt any app that needs to run on the pc ... u just need lg drivers installed.. i get it to show up as an network connection via usb from the phone but it just stays at "unidenified network" wont get internet access
and if you would of just installed the apk you would see that the instructions are built into the app

i think This is the app your talking about.
if it is, then take down the .apk, because its a paid app and you cant post that stuff here.
second, ICS Drivers are kinda messed up with USB tethering, so try it on an GB Rom and see if it works.
and finally, im helping you because i want to, all i asked for was a link to the market app, and you just cannot even take the time to do that, so this is all the time im going to put into helping you. if what i said above does not help, then good luck.
Edit: also, im not going to install an apk from an unreliable source. turns out, there are such things as viruses and malware for android phones.
well thanks anyways..
i think your statement with ics drivers is right ..appreciate your time
Get the program called Connectify for your laptop. You can rebroadcast your Internet as wifi with it. Then just connect via wifi.

Thanks, same for me. that's how this app came to be.
went to market and d/l v1.1.... did not work, won't find internet connection and does f/c if you tap on the " no applications found"
I'm guessing that doesn't support ics? if not, any plans for that in the future?
thanx,
Z.

Thanx for updating!! Looking forward to trying this out!
I also appreciate the rebuild for ICS as well. Will come in handy as I don't wish to d/grade back to gingerbread.
I do have a quick question, are you going to integrate any security tools? IE: wireless, lan, packet type stuff and what not... ? If so, that would be really great. But anyways, looking forward to trying this out and about to d/l the latest version now. Thanx again and your work is appreciated!
Z.
Thank you for updating the app and the prompt email response... Great app...
