My phone's IMEI looked like part of the recall but the built date was DEC. 2010, I installed the old leaked froyo back then (I897UCJF6 - Odin3 One-Click Downloader) and had the random shutdowns. using the load monitor app as a workaround drained the batt faster too.
After doing the stock restore to 2.1 and applying the official froyo thru kies mini, i haven't encounter the shutdowns for the past 3 days..
*non-rooted and no lagfix yet.... att-locked captivate...
Where is this recall information located?

Hello Guys,
Yesterday I upgraded to 2.2 froyo using Samsung Kies. Before upgrading, I did a factory reset to avoid running into any complications after or during the upgrade. Overall, the upgrade process was successful.
However, now my phone is running much slower, choppier - especially the browser. Even though I am getting better results in Linpack, i.e. 14-16, I am getting worse results in Quadrant, i.e. 1,800-2,000 instead of 2,200-2,300.
What is the problem? Anyone else ran into the same problem as me? I though upgrading to froyo would make my Captivate faster?
Thanks,
JUNG-NA
I completed the upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 using Kies over the weekend. That was not a straight forward process. I am noticing speed issues now, especially with the transitions and the pull down notification bar. The pull down notification bar has a 2 to 3 second delay. Original Quandrant score was between 800 and 900 and after the update the score is ~1000, i have not applied any lag fixes and the phone is unlocked and rooted.
The update was a leak and older, so it's un optimized. Either flash back to ji2, flash a voodoo kernel, or flash another custom rom.

Can't speak for everyone but I've done a lagfix on a Telus Fascinate and a Bell Vibrant(I9000M) and Quadrant was getting around 2200-2300 with 2.1 and only around 1900 with 2.2 so it seems normal.
Even with these numbers, the phone felt a bit faster with 2.2. Have only heard of 1 incident with GPS being wonky.
What is the cause in the differences in boot times between Froyo and Gingerbread roms?
Vegan 5.1.1 seems to boot really fast when compared to Vegan-Ginger and CM7.0.3. Those are the only roms Ive tried on my gtab so Im not really sure if it is a Froyo vs Gingerbread issue at all. Since Vegan-Ginger is based on CM7 could it just be the way CM is coded?
Thanks
There's something about those pesky ginger roms. Takes like 4 minutes to boot.
I'm not sure what is going on...and it seems to vary from tablet to tablet.
My brother loaded CM7 on his Gtablet and it boots in about 1 minute max. I loaded it on mine and it takes 5 to 7 minutes to boot.
I had installed VEGAn5.1.1 on a friends tablet and then changed it over to CM7 the other day and his boots in less than a minute. He commented on how much faster it boots now then when it was on VEGAn.
So I'm not sure what is the cause and/or why some boot times are quick and some are slow.
All the tablets mentioned above where running VEGAn5.1.1 before CM7.
In the loggcat it shows references to every app installed when booting. Some sort of check process. Fresh install and it boots in 1min of bootanimation. 100 apps extra and it boots in like 5min. May be there permanently or it may just be a part of cm7 until a stable 2.3+ release.
I'm hoping it goes away. Got kind of used to the quick boots of calk+Clem and tnt lite.
Hi my Samsung Infuse sometimes starts vibrating and then it turns off randomly, does someone here is experiencing this problem too?
If it vibrates once, then twice and reboots I think somwthing is force- closing but why it reboots Idk. Mine was doing that at one time (dont remember what rom/kernel I was on @the time) but I flashed 2 stock, then back to bionix & havnt had problem since
Mine does this too. Except when it reboots, my wallpaper changes back to what it recently was before I changed it (even after I deleted the obnoxious picture).
After flashing to Infuse 1.5.2, the wallpaper and shortcut locations were all normal (also lost my texts, not a problem). Later on, it vibrated and rebooted again, and all my old shortcut locations were back, my old wallpaper was back, and all of my texts were back, but I was still on Infused v1.5.2
It's kind of annoying seeing as it happens every other day or so.
might be too much UV
i only had this happen with test kernels on bionix -almost- never with infused

im not doing any UV/OC, this problem also existed when i was in stock firmware, i updated now to infuses 1.5.3, lets see if the problem persist, nobody know a possible fix?
Everytime I flash a 2.3.4 Rom (All CM7 Nighty's and MIUI), my phone seems to overheat. I kept it stock kernal at first, then I tried both faux's and morfics UV kernals and that didn't help either. But when I revert back to Froyo, it doesn't heat up at all.
Any experiencing the same?
Yup samething here. I experienced that with the new eagleblood rom and the new gingerbread leaked update. I notice that whenever i get overheating the phone automatically shutdown. Funny enough a tmobile rep persuaded me to buy a new battery by telling me that the one I have right now is faulty and is what cause the random reboots and shutdowns. Do you experience any of those issues with your phone as well?

No reboots, No blackscreens, it just gets really hot in the back whenever a 2.3.4 rom is running.
Hi, im new here and couldnt find any similar threads so posted this one.
I just updated my p920 with stock optus v20b firmware.
When i go into the battery usage page, the time on battery keeps restarting every couple of minutes.
eg. it would keep counting from "1s on battery" to "1m 7s on battery" then go back to "1s on battery".
This will also reset all the percentages used by apps. some times it even shows display using 230% when the time resets to 1s.
Has anyone had this problem??
any help would be appreciated. thanks
Yeah, that's a known problem on the stock GB ROMs. I have that too.
oh, so its a known problem. has there been any fixes for it yet?
Nope. Pretty much all GB roms (Except CM7 Ones i think) have some sort of broken battery stats
Yeah, CM7 works fine because it's not based on the original LG ROM. All other ROMs "inherit" that problem from the stock ROM.
