I posted this on the Desire forums, but since I got no solution there, I'm trying here.
Basically the problem is that every custom rom that I'm trying to install that is not the stock Sense Froyo, ends up popping endless force close messages ("the process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again") and I get no signal. Thus far I've tried Cyanogen 6.1.1, Cyanogen 7 RC1, Oxygen 2.0 and Ginger Villain 1.2. All had the same problem. I am wiping all of the Data and Cache prior to flashing.
For a detailed explanation of the process I took, you can go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971150
Device is HTC Desire GSM, Clockwork 2.5 Recovery. Rooted using Revoked 3,
I would love some help on this as it drives me crazy. Thanks!
Any ideas guys? This is really frustrating.

Hmm... I've found that if I force the phone into Airplane mode, the FC messages stop. Of course, I still have no signal.
So, the reason for the FC messages is due to the failure to connect to my mobile network. Now, why would I be able to connect to my network fine on the official Desire ROM, but not on any other ROM?

Hi All,
I own a Motorola Defy. I am kind of new to android developement. i had 2.2 on my phone and wanted to upgrade, followed all the steps available online for cyanogen 7.1, liquid arc, etc. with all the ROM's i had the same problem. Everything goes fine, until i reboot my phone. The moment i do that after installing new ROM. I loose network connectivity and a pop up msg comes up continously saying android.phone.com stopped responding. From there i have to do the complete wipe once again. i read in some forum about flashing radio, however i dont see this option in my recovery mode at all.
Anybody who knows how to resolve this????????
I looked this up in the forums. This applies to going from 2.1 to 2.2, but sounds like it may help you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947578
Thank you for the reply.
However, I was already running Froyo on my defy. I can also go back to that via RSD or by restoring it to the ROM i backedup before i started this testing. My concern is why i am not able to Install this custom ROM and make it working when all others can do it without any issues. I am still running Cyanogen nightly ROM (2.3.7). I also know the moment i restart my phone it will loose network connectivity and will keep getting those pop msgs. Is there a way to curb that.
Appreciate the help...
You can look for MIUI for the defy. I have also MIUI on my Defy and it works perfect

Thanks for your reply....
I was missing the defy baseband update. Thank fully that fixed the network connectivity issue. Now i am running ICS 4.0.1 perfectly. Except the camera everything is working smooth. Had little issue with restore from Titanum backup. But an unregistered version of TB fixed it.
Hello!
So there is this annoying thing that's been going on since I firstly rooted my phone and started flashing ROM's, radios etc.
I've been using only ARHD ROM's since they have a great reputation, haven't tried others.
So, I started with ARHD 3.6.x ROM's and now I'm on the latest 6.2.1. XE ( No OC ).
So the problem for me all through my experience with my phone, is getting random reboots at mostly no specific times.
The most common is in this situation:
The phone is just sitting nicely in my pocket, I feel that somebody is calling me. I take the phone out of the pocket, want to answer by unlcoking the phone and ding! it just crashes.
When I turn it on, the random reboots just won't stop until I give the phone a rest and don't use it for a while. Because after a random reboot the reboots just keep on coming, if I use the phone.
This also happens when I just take the phone out of my picket and try to unlock it.
So, mostly it reboots when I try to unlock it.
This just makes the phone unreliable and many times people can't call me because I have no idea that it has crashed in my pocket.
I've been hoping that it would stop with the next version of ARHD but it didn't. The problem keeps comming back.
So I wanted to know: Is there any way to see, what is the soul purpose of those crashes? Is there anyway it's curable? Because I don't know if it's the HW or the SW. When I had stock everything and no root, these problems were not present.
My setup:
* Super CID
* Firmware from 3.24.401.1 & 3.25.401.101 RUU
* Android Revolution HD 6.2.1 XE
* Radio: 11.68.3504.00U_11.21.3504.13_2
* Kernel ( from about info ): 3.0.16-g5e58c5e [email protected] #1
* Any other info you need to help me fully?
the kernel could be the problem...try not to use it and see if it happens again..however i suggest to you to flash the insertcoin rom cause it is the best ics rom out there...trust me try it and you will not be disappointed
I have the same problem with all ROMs, including stock, except for the Virtuous Quattro alphas which I was able to run 20 days straight without a crash (impossible with other ROMs). Also the battery readings after a crash is weird, dropping from eg. 60% before the crash, down to 5% when booting after a crash. I contacted HTC about this and they told me it's probably a faulty mainboard. So I'm planning on sending it back in a few months.
I have the same problem with all sense roms GB and ICS its really frustrating I've had it for some time already

Today I will try virtuous_quattro_alpha3_pyramid. If it's too buggy, will try the Inqusition. And if I still have any problem, give the InsertCoin a try. Will post my findigs as I get them.
Any idea what kernel to use? Which is the most stable?
not sure but crashes may have something to do with your applications being in sdcard. i have moved all my applications to phone memory (though i don't have many) and i have not had a forced reboot after that. also super-smooth/ultra-smooth rosie helped, with this tweak my phone is really fast now.
using leedroid rom.
If the phone didn't reboot on stock then it's a firmware/software issue - go back to fully stock and see if the problem still occurs.
If not then start from scratch and make sure the checksums match the downloaded file before you install then, especially the firmware and radio file.
From my hd2 days you might first try setting your network manually, as I did hear that even native Android phones can reset during auto network selection.
So now I am on Virtuos Inqusition and the reboots still occur. It's frustrating.
And ONLY when I take my phone out of my pocket to see what time is it.
So I met a guy who is on all stock, without root etc. and he's getting the same issues.
Anyone else having this problem?
Could it really be the HW fault?
Or still could just be because an official ICS ROM for the Sensation hasn't come out yet?
Full wiped?
Did you full wiped it before you upgraded to the latest verison? In many cases reason for reboots are kernel and/or cache related. So maybe something which is still in your cache could bring that output. Another possibility is when you restore apps and settings from System Tuner or Titanium backup. As you are using stock kernel I don't think it should be the problem generator.
1. Do a nandroid backup
2. Full wipe with Mike's script
3. Fresh install ICS rom you like (I'm using Insertcoin 4.5.4 + Ultrasmooth Rosie)
4. Check MD5
5. install custom ROM
6. Don't restore settings/apps from Google.
7. Don't restore apps/settings from Titanium etc...
Just try to use your phone without all your apps installed for a short time.
Good Luck, hope it helps...
Yes, I always Super-Wipe before a fresh install.
But I will re do everything, installing only the timetable for buses - addicted to that app.
Can I restore contacts from google or should that wait for a while?
Update
So, it's been a while that I've been using Virtous Inqusition with Google sync and nothing else. The original problem still exists, Could this be a HW issue?
I don't really want to go all stock to loose SuperCID and everything else.
So, I guess I have to stick with this problem and leave my Sensation unreliable.

Do a full wipe and reflash the ROM also wipe the battery stats and perhaps try a different kernel maybe one closer to stock frequency

Hey everyone!
Been lurking for months here and finally got the guts to try myself at installing a new ROM.
I have an LG G2X with Videotron here in Quebec Canada, we are stuck on Froyo and it will never get upgraded. :/
I rooted it without issues!
I also flashed CWM 5.0.2.8
I have backed up my stock ROM to SD Card.
I have installed the following ROM's with issues.
aokp_p999_build-37
won't boot, stays at LG logo
BionixReloaded_v1.4.1_FINAL
It runs. No 4G, Wifi connects and disconnects in a loop.
update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-p999-signed
Does not boot, stays at CM screen
update-cm-7.1.0-G2x-signed
It runs. No 4G, Wifi connects and disconnects in a loop.
Bionix2-TheLegacyContinues-RC1 with Bionix2-RC1-Patch
It runs. No 4G, Wifi connects and disconnects in a loop. I had 4G work in this ROM for a bit then it stopped.
Steps I have done from CWM
Wipe phone
Wipe Cache
Wipe Davik cache (or something like that!)
Formated System
Installed ROM from ZIP
reset permissions
I also backed up my APN settings from my stock rom and added into the packaged ROMS and still no go. The APN settings for Videotron were in them already. Phone portion works and SMS also, it does say Videotron when connected with cell antenna..
I know some people on Videotron have done it in the past and the only issues were with PAN settings which seem to have been added in newer ROMs.
I have searched endlessly and now I'm at a point where I can't see straight! lol
Any ideas would really be appreciated.
Marc
Ah man nevermind! lol I was tired and figured it out while driving back from work!
Thanks anyway!
Can you post your solution in case other people have the problem?

No probs!
In most cases I was just installing an update so I'm guessing that the ROM was partially running as I had not installed the base ROM and then the updates. But some of the full ROM's listed would not get passed the splash screens...
Now I have EaglesBlood™ Ice Cream Sandwich [AOSP 4.0.4] and it's running with minimal issues!
My Wifi and 4G are running without issues!
I've had a few EBLauncher crashes that required a battery pull...
The Voicemail notification does not work with this ROM for me...
EDIT: GMail does not Sync, I need to deactivate and reactivate Sync for it to work for 1 time only... Have to do this everytime I wan't to know if I have emails...
So far, no other issues. I will try to search for the issues I am experiencing now and see what I can fine. Could not find anything on the voicemail notification issue.
I'm running miui 2.9.14 and i always lose my status bar and the ability to answer calls when i get the message "unfortunately system ui has stopped working" and once that happens i am forced to wipe and then reflash because thats the only fix i know which is so frustrating setting everything up again just because of the problem. is it because im flashing gapps, could that cause the problem, or is it a system problem? serached through so many forms and all they say is to wipe dalvik and cache and when i do that it happens again! Please someone help me
Have you tried posting on the miui site ? I'm not familiar with that Rom but it could be a sort of "bug". You can post on the Rom site and see if others are experiencing the same issue. If they are, perhaps they likely know of a fix for this issue.?? Wish I could be of more help but I don't know much about that particular Rom. On the miui site they sould be able to direct you towards a solution . Best of luck to you!

Hey brad, you ever find a fix for this? i have this same problem, and ive searched everywhere on the web and i cant find a solution other than to use the hyperMIUI rom. But id rather use the official MIUI
Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet?
Hello, having some troubles with data. Phone calls and text work fine. I have an HTC one m8, viperone rom, on PPC. A few nights ago I let my battery completely drain to the point that it would get stuck on boot screen. So I did a factory reset, that got me out of the bootloop but since then I only have data when im on 1x, nor 3g or 4g, says mobile data disconnected. I have been using roms for a few years, no expert but i know enough to check the basic when troubleshooting. So next i tried installing a new sim card, same issue. Next I flashed the same 5.1 rom, same issue. I downloaded the latest rom from viper, 6.1 installed fine but now no data at all. So tried all the reboots, reinserted the card, airplane mode, modes, etc.....
Do i need to install a new radio firmware? I currently have the 1.12
Or did I mess up the divice with the battery completely draining?
Hopefully its a noob error I can fix with some advice from you guru's
Much thanks in advance!!
Bill
