Dear All,

Filtered sites? On the www??! Are you in China? Well I guess so..
Well though I'm not using Mozilla Firefox Mobile, I would use it in conjunction with a proxy addon if I were in your situation.
Or start to use any other browser that your standard browser, which is in my humble opinion SET to 'filter pages' in the first place. I could be wrong here though..
Success,
yes we are some where like china.

Hi. I'm running a T-Mobile Dash with Windows Mobile 6, and I'm looking for a free IM client that can connect to AIM, at least. I know Windows Live gives me Pocket MSNIM, but only a tiny minority of my friends use that. The on-board Oz Instant Messenger refuses to work with AT&T, and I just get error messages, so I'm kind of at a stand-still right now.
The other thing I'm looking for is a lower priority, I'm trying to find an SSH client for my SmartPhone too. PocketPuTTY, I've heard of, but I can't seem to find it. Again, I'm cheap, so I'm hoping for something free.
There's one catch to all this: I'm running a Mac, so EXE installers are no-go. CABs and SFX (Self-Extracting ZIPs) are usable, but anything more complex isn't going to work.
Thanks for all the help!

Welcome to XDA-Dev
Rule of thumb: follow my articles - I've published full Bibles and roundups on almost all aspects of handheld computing. Your question is answered in the Smartphone General forum, at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323654
Let me know if you need help in extracing the CAB file of any EXE installers - I'll upload it for you.
Oohh, useful!
Well, thank you. Your article was thorough, and (in the end) informative. I was aware of Mundu, IM+ and Imov messengers, and I was hoping someone had an alternative to them that was free. Your article eventually lead me to the Basic version of Imov, but the problem is that it's one of those set-up EXEs that I can't seem to crack. I've managed to find a download of Imov Basic 1.22, and I'd be willing to provide it for you.
Thank you for the offer, and all the help.
is there any cracked verson available for mundu

Have you tried Palringo yet?
Fring is a free IM app too(Just released a new version today that supports AIM). Palringo is pretty good too.

Since I don't see it mentioned, you may be able to use PocketPuTTY,
http://www.pocketputty.net/ ,
for a SSH application. It works for me. The file that you download while named PocketPuTTY.exe is a Windows Mobile binary. Just copy it to your phone and run it. Hope it works for you.
So regarding IM clients Do they all use webgateways provided by the Makers. Are there any that directly connect to the AIM, Yahoo!, and MSN Servers?
Not that I walk around wearing a tinfoil hat. but I just like to know where my data is being sent.
Octro Chat uses one. But I can't find any info as to if mundu uses one. If they all use it I will get over it but I was just curious is anyone knew.
pocket putty doesnt run on smartphones just ppc. i am also looking for a free shh client for smartphone (wm standard)
if your looking for just aim..this is about as good as your gonna get lol
Hi there,
thanks already for all your help in the past.
Today I have two new topics:
1) I am searching for a web browser that supports digest authentication.
Unfortunately Pocket Explorer does not support it. And Opera Mini would support but redirects to Pocket Explorer again for any downloads. So I am lost.
Tried already Minimo but without big success.
Does anybody know a browser that is free and supports authentication?
2) Does anybody know whether HTC plans to release Windows Mobile 6.1 for the Vox as download version? I asked them already but there is not yet a response.
Thanks and have a nice day.
BR
Andi
Found it
Hi,
just to let you know - I just came across the JB5 browser and it seems to do exactly what I want.
Good piece of software, and it is free.
Cheers
Andi
If you have been using the live mesh technical preview, the mobile client for wm6 is now available. Just sign in as normal and then add device.
I'm still seeing "Coming soon for mobile" The limited Mac tech preview shows up, though.

I signed in and out of live mesh and it appeared.
Must not have replicated to the servers I hit yet. I'll keep an eye out. Thanks for the heads-up!
I really like live mesh, (for me at least), it just works out of the box.
Hi !
Is there someone that can post the cab ?
Thanks !
Whatever !
I found it :
http://m.mesh.com/install/wm6/LiveMesh.cab
But it doesn't connect to the mesh : "only available to a limited number of users"
Arrgh this is annoying, Ive been using Mesh for a while and now its comming up with for U.S only wtf?

It says US and UK on the Live Mesh blog. I am however having trouble at the point where it's trying to add the device, possibly because I'm on GPRS at the moment and it might be timing out, I guess.
SQL CE error
When I try to install I get this error message....
"Live Mesh was unable to find a suitable version of SQL CE on this device. Unable to install Live Mesh."
I've tried to install SQL, i downloaded it from microsoft directly, and its listed as "SQLServerCompact 3.5 Core" under Remove Programs....
Any ideas??? I really want to use this....
Yes, it's only for US and UK
I installed the mesh cab, and using an "US" account (a french one, but with my country changed to US ) it WORKS ! And works well. I have now a "cabstore" synced with my own server, live mesh and my TyTN II.
Great service !
Got it last night, works great with my XV6800.

I've got this exact same problem. I posted over on the Microsoft Mesh forum and am waiting for a conclusive answer. It's been passed over to the Mobile Dev team apparently.
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/LiveMesh/thread/8e80d590-9c88-4522-bdab-3d23bea718c0
I wonder if it's got anything to do with cooked roms? I'm running CRC WM 6.1 v13.0 on my Hermes.
--Update--
Apparently there is an issue with cooked ROMs as they don't all include SQL. Installing SQL seperately will not help unless you use a version lower the 3.5 but even that has not been proven yet.
I'm going to try and find an older version of SQL and give it a bash.
Further information here:
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMeshMobile/thread/b8a6da09-c53a-4168-91bf-f476d2a1876f
Firstly I am in the UK Ive downloaded the updated cab and now everytime I run it it gets past verifying user and then gets stuck on Getting mobile phone identifier and then fails
SQL CE Issue has been identified and resolved
The client needs SQL CE 3.1 installed, and does not work with SQL CE 3.5 installed.
Read and follow information in forum:
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMeshMobile/thread/b8a6da09-c53a-4168-91bf-f476d2a1876f/
All working well after applying Jef K's fix over on the Mesh Forum.
Problem now is that the MEsh Client can't acquire my device ID to register the phone onto my mesh.
Issue being delt with over at http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMeshMobile/thread/c7ce844c-a4e3-4be4-838d-1ebdca5986e7
I downloaded the cab but says that I cannot do it because only a limited number of users can right now. How sad...

No
You cannot remote desktop to the phone (shame)
Limited Users
Limited Users, anyone else got the same problem?
cheeers Tom
I use mesh for a back up right now and it works great for my home computers. Some things that bugged me are:
No remote desktop.
It will only sync your remote directories to the main memory. I tried to sync my work folder and it didn't place it in the storage card.
It launches external applications to view the mesh folders (Pocket IE) and the file explorer to view local folders.
All in all, a nice first attempt. Build in remote desktop and I would PAY for a service like this!
@Networkguy: it's still the first beta... keep waiting
Unfortunately i can't find a today plugin. This is sad. Anyone has an idea?
I have just discovered Open Market and it is quite frankly a bit more reach in free apps.
Look for OpnMarket
I would like people to use this thread to share the best apps for HTC HD2.
Come on have your say.
Mine so far is WIFI Remote Access v1.00
Enables to browse the content of your Windows Phone 6.5 or Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1 device from your computer's web browser using a WIFI connection without installing anything on your computer!
Hi Ive tried the open market and its ok , too bad that there aint more like open market where you can get more apps .

People would benefit from searching xda developers a bit more thouroughly (or in some cases, at all!) before looking elsewhere for applications. This community has much more to offer than any other single location on the internet (including Wifi Remote Access v1.7)

totally agree with you. whatever i'm looking for i usually end up finding it here anyway.
I'm still anxiously waiting for XDA-Marketplace.....! Already there isa version for Android, I'm wondering how long it will take for a WM version, since originally xda-developers was intended for windows mobile... That's the one I want to have!
Can't seem to get Omarket to function properly on my HD2. It requires a login or registration and attempt to register, but it says my information is incorrect...LOL
At first it would say my email was incorrect, and I tried 3 email address, then it says there's an error in the fields.

Just go to www.freewarepocketpc.net and register there. it worked for me
first I look at openmarket and after here bc I way easier then here to search the forums. OpenMarket is a must have.
PS: a shame that they try to make another one and dont work together. One place with all stuff, that must be the target
So I have an HD7 from Tmobile and downloaded Mango 7720 last night. Everything seems like its working perfectly but one problem I am having is with IE9 and HTML5 mobile sites. If I navigate to m.bing.com or m.google.com or even mobile youtube I get the old standard mobile sites NOT the html5 mobile versions. Navigating to Bing mobile is especially bad, I cant even see the full menu of bing services. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm just curious to know if anyone else has this issue before I try to reinstall the update.
Anyone? Maybe the sites don't recognize the browser. Not sure what it is but some people claim these sites come up fine on their phones (except for youtube mobile).
Same here. Weird. Maybe they need some time to integrate Mobile IE9 user-agent code?
However 'enhanced' mobile Facebook works well (touch.facebook.com)

Yes, touch facebook works nicely! Hopefully they impliment the user-agent code soon. I guess since Mango is not officially released they havent implemented it yet.
I'm still having this problem with my HTC Titan running Mango 7740. Surely these sites recognise the ie9 useragent now. Though i'm sure that other Mango users aren't still having this issue, i can't work it out!
Don't worry, you're not alone. Google is a major culprit for me. Its almost impossible to get the newer looking mobile site on my phone, instead it looks like the old barebones mobile site. *shudder*
This is not because IE9 does not support HTML5. It is because your website preference is set to mobile or viceversa.
E.g. if you goto google.com with Desktop mode, you will be presented a majorly cut down HTML google version. However, if you visit with Mobile Profile, you will be presented the HTML5 version
Not even the facebook is that good in my opinion, there are some visual artefacts visible.
Same with dropbox.
And it is missing "swiping" functionality. For example, mobile.theverge.com, you have to tap the small dots, instead of just swiping to the next story.
It's not the mobile/desktop setting. I can actually get to the mobile sites (incl. google) but they all look awful. m.facebook.com goes to the oldschool html4 mobile site. touch.facebook.com goes to the html5 mobile site but it's quite broken and not slick. m.google.com has plain text hyperlinks along the top instead of the graphical tabs seen on other mobile OS's.
I guess it's just a trade-off between having a lovely looking OS and Apps, and not having a decent view of mobile web apps.
