Anyone come from a Aria?

Thinking about picking up a tab as soon as ATT launches, I love my captivate but dont really need two identical (hardware) devices. I was thinking about picking up a Aria throwing cyanogenmod and overclocking to 800mhz, i wouldn't mind a smaller phone in the pocket.
Anyone come from a Aria to the captivate and have any knowledge to drop?

I had an Aria prior to the Captivate and found it to be a little too small for use. The real issue I had that caused me to swap it out was the screen was so dim you couldn't see it in sunlight; that is definitely not a problem with the Captivate.

BUT the Aria has adavantages, quick snappy response, GPS WORKS, and does most what the captivate can do. Smaller screen, kind of bugged me, but can get over it. Though the captivates screen is OH SO NICE.... Gaming much better on the captivate also!

^ with a tab (hopefully) on the way the screen size should be welcome for the smaller form factor, the pocket legends beta is making me think twice now haha, looks so nice on the samoled.

I was debating on if I should go to Aria or Captivate when I was getting a new phone. I picked the Captivate because of this too. I love the bigger brighter screen and very glad I went with it. I am very happy with my Captivate. GPS is good enough for me (outdoors), no random shutdowns or any other major problems.

Don't do it. I drove 30 miles to replace my Aria.
The only advantage is GPS. You'll be sacrificing a lot of performance for a smaller footprint. Aria's actually slightly thicker. Just about every spec is worse. Know that it's a mid-range phone that will feel obsolete quickly. You really feel it when loading large webpages/images and playing games.

I loved the Aria it was very responsive although it had a small scree it was really easy to browse through text on the web, GPS was good, it size is an advantage when traveling on business. Basically if you don't need a large screen this is a good phone.

I originally had an Aria that I exchanged for the Captivate. It's a neat little phone, though you won't be able to get some apps that require the arm v7 instruction set (google earth, for example), and live wallpapers run a bit slow sometimes (super mario), but all in all, it's an awesome little phone that I wouldn't mind using as my daily driver.
I ended up exchanging it for the Captivate simply because it seemed more future-proof and because the subsidized price difference was so small that it was hard to justify keeping the Aria.
With the leaks of the Nexus S today, I can see that I made the correct choice. If it turns out that the Nexus S hardware is very similar to the rest of the Galaxy S line (which will most likely be the case, considering the model number), we are basically guaranteed updates direct from google (with a little hacking to get it running on our Captivates) for a long time to come.
Update: Oh yeah, forgot to mention the speaker. The speaker is absolutely terrible. It sounds tinny and buzzy, and you'll be instantly infuriated anytime your phone rings. Watching videos on it is unbearable unless you use headphones. This is another reason I exchanged it for the Captivate.

Aria advantages are fm radio, better browser that makes text readable on the smaller screen. 2.1 os with flash that works, snappy feel do to the smaller screen needing less processing power. Small size.
Dis advantages are poor out door readability especially with screen protectors, poor battery life, I find the captivate to be better, gps didn't work any better than the captivate, actually I think the captivate is better but I seem to be a minority in that my gps works, hard to type on small screen and I'm not one to complain about touch screens, I actually prefer touch screens for typing but 3.2 inches is just to small, non multi touch keyboard. Significantly thicker than captivate, it doesn't look it but it is. call quality not as good, ringer/speakerphone not as loud, camera not as good, captivate camera has many options only winphone7 compares imho but win phone 7 is good for different reasons, also aria camera takes time to adjust to the light, apparent in videos. Stock headphones not as good as samsung stock headphones. Internal storage couldn't hold enough apps.
All in all I did have buyers remorse when I got the aria because I couldn't read the screen in day light and because the internal storage was limited but was otherwise satiated, then when I traded up for the captive I had buyers remorse because missed the fm radio, the browser and the flash player, but it all went away when I started making phone calls, and got a taste of the stock headphones for music, every bit as good as $40 v-moda ones that I had recently broken, and better than the $50 treble heavy skull candies I bought to use with the aria.
The aria was almost a good phone and if you have an sd card and don't use 100 apps and you can deal with the screen there is nothing wrong with it but for the money it might not make sense unless they have dropped the price or the whole required store credit/rebate thing. But I feel the captivate is better for more reasons than the obvious even with it's shortcomings.

The Aria is...
...one bada$$ little phone! I was so very opposed to going to a full-touchscreen phone. I've always had keyboards on all my HTC Smartphones and PDA's. The fact that i got turned on to a full touch screen phone via the Aria is pretty impressive in my book.
Yes it is small. But that is one of the benefits of the phone itself, considering how big all the phones are getting. At this rate it looks like we're almost headed back to the "motorola-in-a-brief-case-Nino-Brown-era". hahaha! Sure, if you have huge fingers it will be a bit of a pain to type on no doubt. But I'm a 5'11" athletic black man and I had not too many issues.
Its just about as snappy as most other "high-end" considered phones in most categories. The speaker does suck pretty bad, but i'm always using bluetooth headsets and BT stereo headphones anyway. I loved that little phone. And now my wife loves it.
I have the Captivate now. I never wanted to get anything but HTC, but I'm on AT&T and the HTC Surround looks like a joke - not to mention I do not want a first generation WP7 anyway. So to the tune of $69 (AT&T matched the Wirefly.com price) I couldn't pass it up. Aside from not having a flash I LOVE this phone and it feels about the same weight as the Aria!
All that to say...YES, the Aria is a solid phone and great switch up from the current popular trend in phone sizes.

Captivate Owners!

I just wanted to know what made you guys buy the captivate? At first I was going to but the Aria but changed my mind at the last minute. I wasn't interested in the captivate because if the size of the phone, but I said "what the heck" and got it to try it. I had intentions on returning it, but as you can tell, it never made it back to the AT&T store....

Besides being an Android phone, screen size was the biggest reason I got it. Phones done good for me.

I dropped my aria two months after I purchased and busted the screen. $250 and a week later, I received my captivate from ebay. Im very glad I got the phone but I miss my stable cyanogenmod the aria had.

I bought it due to fairly good reviews on it and could do lot more than my old winmo phone. It had a great screen size and has high resolution.
I found the hard way that it had lot of delayed updates for it and gps issues as well. I still kept it because its far better than winmo. It was a deal that was hard to beat, for me.

Why? Simple. I waited for nearly two years for AT&T to release an Android phone that wasn't a total piece of crap. This was it. AT&T passed on the G1 and the N1 because they were too busy catering to the iPhone. Like I was really going to buy an HTC Lancaster?

I bought it for its potential. Stock this phone is meh, but with custom ROMs it is a Nexus S that gives up the front camera for an extra micro sd slot.

i got it for the screen. at first i got an aria, great little phone, but once att dropped the $100 rebate i made the switch because with 2.1 the aria had too little storage for apps. yeah i went app crazy at first. and without 2.2 i could not do app to sd
also the cost of a large sd card vs the captivate having 14 usable internal + all the other features of the captivate it seemed like a no brainer. after i got the captivate i did have alittle buyers remorse though. the rom was meh. thee update made it better but it wasnt the update we were anticipating and by then i was already using a beta leak and utb.
i miss fm radio, the lazer mouse, the browser(text was always readable) and other things but removing the batery and sd card is a pain in the arse on the aria, and if you do it too many times the cover loosens up and the antennas can get poor reception.
on the captivate i enjoy flashing roms with little fear of bricking with the availability of odin3. the screen of coarse, the headphones, 46 gigs of storage, unbeaten graphics chip so far(hard to believe it holds that title this long) the camera, and the fact that nobody seems to know what the hell it is. but we all know about the gps issues samsungs delayed updates and various incompatabilities with proprietary samsung code like the wii mote app.

Screen size and because I found this phone to be the prettiest of any phone I've seen and android.

the hardware was (is) incredible. turns out the software, not so much .

I have been all over the place with phones had never tried android before never was there a phone worth it on att to get and I didn't feel like getting an unlocked g2. This phone even with its issues is still a good and solid phone. Could use a few things like flash in the camera like its brother has. But the Nice size internal memory almost 16gigs for w.e u want plus a micro SD so your good for as lil a 2 gigs or as much as 32 more which is great. No fear or running out of room. Screen is really good just over all design it grabs a lot of attention

I got it because AT&T only had this or the aria as far as Android devices went at the time. Plus, gorgeous screen, super fast yada yada.. also promise of a update soon.
Starting to regret returning my iPhone 4 sadly.

1. Screen (super-amoled + size + vibrant color)
2. CPU
3. Best GPU performance in smartphone to date. The olympus and some of the coming Tegra 2's might change that.

i had an iphone 3g and was wanting to try something new so i wanted an android was going to get the aria but when captivate came out i bought this instead.

The release of my first choice, a Nokia N8 5 band UMTS world phone, was delayed so I bought the Captivate, my second choice. I almost didn't buy it because of the GPS issue. I like the Android OS and the super AMOLED display. I lucked into making the right choice.

I had the iPhone 3G and then the 3Gs, got burned out on ios, android was the obvious choice and the Captivate had top of the line hardware. GPS works fine, if you really need a reliable GPS then u really should get a standalone GPS device, and for music junkies get a stand alone mp3 player.

I wouldn't say that the GPS works fine. Maybe for you it does, but I don't think it's acceptable for my phone to thing that I'm in Philadelphia or Oakland or even Germany when I'm really in Southern California. There is a major issue with LBS on this phone and I can't wait to get rid of it. IF you don't care about location based services, this is an amazing phone. I love everything else about it.

I bought it for the screen and for Android. I was going to hold out for a bigger screen HTC phone to make its way to AT&T but my old phone died before that happened. I am not currently having the GPS issues. Just waiting for the upgrade to 2.2.

1. The only galaxy s phone on at&t .
2. The only phone with mkv and h264 high profile playback .
Extra reason 16gb internal plus can add 32gb micro sdcard which I did 48gb media awesomeness *drool*

I had an aria but i just had this feeling that i was going to regret it in two years, so i traded for the next up

Was out today and thought I'd stop by and check out the infuse...
I spent about 5 minutes goin over it...
The screen looks awesome....
Touchwiz looks cheap...
GPS could not lock on my location..but the Atrix and the Inspire on display had no trouble at all..
I may be a little jealous if the display and battery size of the infuse...otherwise I'm stickin with the inspire...

I messed with one for five minutes as well. Salesman was really hyping it up how it was the best phone on at&t right now. I agree the screen is nice but I still prefer the inspire.

I feel just like that whenever I look at my wife’s Galaxy Captivate’s bright screen, until I try to navigate that damn Touchwiz. Grass will always be greener on the other side when it comes to technical toys. But with all the things I can do with my Inspire 4G, I can do without the faster CPU, front facing camera, and the extra .2 inches of high def screen until next Inspire (something comparable to) comes out.

so you're damn right its the best phone we have at AT&T right now..
(i still use my inspire and i think its way better than both infuse and atrix, much more solid built etc)

I checked out a non-working demo unit at Costco and it's about the same size as the Inspire and the screen was noticeably bigger. Bravo Samsung for coming out with a 4.5" screen phone and using as much real estate on the front of the phone as possible.

As far as the UI: Come on... most of us hate TouchWiz. That's a given. Just replace it with LauncherPro or ADWLauncher. I bet half of the Inspire users here don't use Sense (though I do and actually like Sense).
Would I trade in my Inspire for the Infuse (I bought from Costco): No. I'm still pissed off at Samsung over the Captivate GPS issues... but if the Infuse turns out to have 100% working hardware and features as advertised it'd be a step in the right direction winning me back. I would recommend it to non-phone obsessed friends who don't care about quick OS updates.
We'll be hearing about any defects or problems within a week if there are any.

I love sense, and when I had my captivated, everything about it was HTC. notification bar, battery meter, signal meter, app icons, etc. I wasn't phone obsessed as far as updates until I got into Android. So that may change for them.

Samsung's hardware is tempting, but I'll never forget the garbage I (we) went through with the Captivate. Dying earpiece and external speakers (both happened to me on different handsets), sleep death, no GPS, the OTA update that bricked stock phones...all of this and more, and the phone hasn't even been out for a year.
Not only that, but Samsung insulted us by releasing a GPS "fix" app in the market that "restored the GPS to factory settings"...you know, the ones that didn't work in the first place?
I'm not a fanboy and won't spend my money buying products from a company that is all to happy to ass-rape me for giving them business. Apple has the luxury for rabid fanboyism, so no matter what they do, people will still buy their products. Samsung doesn't have that, they just think they do for some reason.

The good side of the Infuse is his unlocked bootloader.
My wife has a Inspire and I have a captivate, I have to say the captivate is really easier to unlock. But I agree with most of you about the captivate, a stock captivate is really not perfect, but I'm running my cappy with Contiuuum 5.4.1 (Android 2.3.3) and I can say bye bye to all the problems, my gps is a dream and my battery time is amazing.

I have a SE Xperia X10 and I'm in the market for a new phone, so I went to my local AT&T store for the Sunday release of the Infuse. I played with it, and with the Inspire, for about an hour.
I came away from the experience thinking my next phone will be an HTC...now if I can only hold out for the upcoming "Holiday." hee hee. Here's why-
1. I have owned Samsungs before, including a brief stint with the Captivate, and I'm unimpressed with the company as far as updates and support.
2. The HTC aluminum unibody case just says "build quality" to me. The infuse felt just like the Captivate in the hand - like flimsy, cheap plastic that should not be used for high-end phones. I know some people want light weight, but come on - few extra grams won't kill ya and it just might save your phone if you're a little rough with it.
3. The Infuse's screen was way too color over-saturated for me. It's bright and clear, but looks surreal to me. I would tire of that in hurry.
4. I could detect no speed or smoothness advantage for the Infuse. Heck, I could load up a custom rom on the Inspire, overclock it conservatively and just beat the snot out of the Infuse... which leads me to....
5. There seems to be a whole lot more developer time and interest in the HTC devices, which means loads more fun for me.

I have both phones with me right now and here are my quick observations between the two phones (Inspire running current version of LeeDroid 2.3.3):
Web browsing: Inspire – Seems to load pages faster and better scrolling.
Camera: Infuse – For some reason the pictures from my Inspire produce a redish look and are too soft, almost out of focus.
Build quality: Inspire – HTC = solid. I don’t notice much difference when carrying them in my pocket as the Infuse is lighter.
Screen: Infuse - However the Inspire is not bad. I could live with both. After looking at the Infuse I do notice a little bit of softness to the Inspire’s text.
Call quality/Handset speaker: Infuse – I have always had an issue with the call quality of HTC devices for my taste. I have to say that the Infuse has one of the best sounding speakers. I would rate it on par with the iPhone 4 or better.
GPS: Infuse – I get a lock in about 10 seconds. Inspire takes about 1 minute with current ROM/Radio.
Battery life: Infuse – But not by much (10 to 15% better).
Speedtests: Infuse – Speed tests seam consistently higher using Speedtest.net (between 4-5 download and 1.5-2 upload).
Battery charging: Inspire – for some reason the Infuse (and most Samsung phones) take forever to fully charge.
Reception: Still need a few more days with the phone but did have an issue with it the very first call. Called AT&T to make a change to my account and dropped the call five times. The lady at AT&T apologized and said that her land line has been dropping a lot of calls lately (WTF?!?!). I should have a conclusion within the next few days.
I’m not going to get into Touchwiz vs. Sense as there are several write-ups on this but based upon the above, I’m leaning towards the Infuse. Call quality is fantastic on my side as well as the other side. I travel a lot so being in airports and cars this is very important for me. The other item is camera quality. Images may be a little oversaturated by they look sharp and I’m no longer to grabbing my wife’s iPhone 4 to take pictures or videos.
Hope this helps anyone looking at both of these devices and let me know if you have any questions.

I may have to reconsider. I spent another day playing with the phones at the ATT shop. I loaded up speedtest on the Inspire, Attrix and Infuse and ran it on each phone about five times. The Infuse consistently beat the others on download and upload. It was close with the Attrix, but the Inspire got its clock cleaned every time.
The screen on the Infuse started to grow on me when I got out of the start screen and its surreal, over the top background and icon colors. When you look at web pages, movies and snapped pictures, it looks amazingly good. The blacks are so very black, even way off axis.
I also played around with the cameras and I have to say that the Infuse is outstanding. Very fast focus and snap and consistently better looking shots...well, could have been the better screen making them appear to be better.
With all the apps coming out now that utilize video chat with the front camera, I don't know if I could go another year or so without one and of course the Infuse has a nice one.
The only down side I had with the Infuse was the build quality. Now that I think about it, it was really the "feel" and the super light weight. Then it dawned on me...duh!...I'm going to put a case on it, so that can be easily corrected.
So now the only thing that I have left to quibble about is the lack of notification lights on the Infuse.....and yet, something tells me that there will be an app or fix that converts some of those other front lights to message notifications. And then of course there's the relative lack of developer input on Samsung devices.
Ok, so do you think I am talking myself into the Infuse?....maybe, just maybe.

Yes indeed. This inspire has fallen off the back of the car and bounced and slid a goodways before realizing that on this narrow road here in mesquite. I picked it up after backtracking and had dust on the screen that's it. And even had it.upstairs and my nephew dropped the phone 1.5 stories and not one crack nor scratch. Btw had a platinum series casing on the whole time.
NO INSPIRES WERE HURT THRU THESE HORRID TIMES

If I wanted a Captivate, I would buy a Captivate. The Infuse is just a stupid phone in my opinion. It's not bad, I'm sure, but it doesn't make sense to buy one with the Holiday and Ma Bell's version of the Galaxy S II right around the corner.

I think I will stay with G2x after testing Sensation

I had an opportunity to borrow one from corp store rep.
Unfortunately, I am not impressed with this machine. The screen gets washed out if you watch more than 30 degrees off while G2x doesn't (it gets blue tint though).
The rep told me it gets 24xx on Quadrant, which is about same as my G2x.
Moreover, mine doesn't have much problem, so it may be wise for me to stay with G2x and wait for Samsung Hercules.

The screen size makes me want the sensation. The screen quality keeps me at the g2x

Timely thread for me. I'm returning my 2nd one and was really studying that Sensation a little while ago....."Should I cut my losses and get this"? Looks pretty good, it really does, but I'm staying with the G2X.
Hopefully the third one works without the reboots. But it is so nice I think I'd likely try a fourth. This after much thought.
It definately needs replacing.....hell it disconnected w/ black screen WHILE I was talking to the T mobile rep today LOL and while it did not reboot in the night, it did lose the bookmarks.
But my daughters is still running perfectly. Not one problem.
And man, this phone is just like her. When its good, it's very very good, but when it's bad....

How often are you getting these reboots? I've had a total of 3 G2X's in my household, and none of them suffer from reboots. I had to replace mine today because of USB issues, but other than that the phones have been great.

1st locked up twice and the flashlight went on (?) and I had to pull the battery. Frankly that wasn't enough to return it but two days later was when they mysteriously disappeared fron the shelves and I had an Ick attack. It was on my 14th day and I exchanged it, just in case.
This one as I said elsewhere has been resetting in the night. Every morning I wake up to the phone wanting my sim password. I accidently activated that and like it. But seeing it tells me it has reset, which I would not notice otherwise I don't think. And I have been interupted three or four times on my calls with the phone shutting off. And it reboots randomly and frequently during the day. This is not good.
The first day (friday) it locked up with a very loud buzzing sound, not like the vibration but a loud buzz. This is my main reason for sending it back. I do believe the reboots issues will be fixed with the update.
In retospect I probably should have kept the first one. It was problem free other than the two incidents.

I really don't know which way to go.I'm a die hard invidia fan and the tegra 2 IMO will outperform the Snapdragon anytime but due to all the build issues with the G2X I just don't know where to look.

the screen part: HTC has long had a problem with screen visibility in direct sunlight, and it seems that issue has continued somewhat with the Sensation. It's definitely a step up, as at medium brightness you can make out what's on the screen, but compare it to the iPhone 4's Retina Display or the Super AMOLED Plus of the Galaxy S2 and it's miles behind. However, the resolution is definitely a step forward, and the sharpness of the text is impressive.

Big toss up. Screen size is very tempting. I loved HTC built devices and the LG kinda let me down with all its kinks, but the support is nice.

I've got a solid G2X, no freezing, rebooting, and minimal screen bleed (after 1 return). The sensation looks like a great phone to me but the size of the G2X is the biggest I'll ever go. And after 2 HTC phones I'll never go back until they replace that damn speaker phone speaker with something you can actually hear.

the screen part: HTC has long had a problem with screen visibility in direct sunlight, and it seems that issue has continued somewhat with the Sensation. It's definitely a step up, as at medium brightness you can make out what's on the screen, but compare it to the iPhone 4's Retina Display or the Super AMOLED Plus of the Galaxy S2 and it's miles behind. However, the resolution is definitely a step forward, and the sharpness of the text is impressive.

In all honesty, that second link was mostly garbage. If you're going to compare 3 devices, at least do it in a common and neutral environment. It seems a bit silly to judge text clarity when you're looking at several different examples on different backgrounds and text effects.
Angle of view is also useless after a certain point. If you're viewing your phone at a 20 degree angle, it might be best to worry about untying yourself and getting away from your kidnappers first.

Yes, or atleast its supposed to sit a bit inside the housing so that when you set it face down it doesn't touch the surface.

I remember reading people really liked the metal strip the G2X has, that they would avoid putting a cover on it cause it looked so nice!!! I agreed but still bought a case since I'm selling the G2X for this aluminum sexy model called a phone, haha. I just love the feel of HTC phones prefer Sense overall as well... sucks for those with all those issues and still want to keep the G2X I feel bad as I have no issues and am still selling this phone.

Have no issues with my G2X either but I feel the Sensations aluminum body isn't enough of a upgrade over the G2x but I can tell you what is a worthy upgrade. A SGSII variant. It's still the phone to beat and is still called the best Android phone that exists. Engadget even said in the Sensation review that the SGSII was more responsive and had more power. Myriam on Engadget said it wasn't enough to get rid of her SGSII and Sense was holding it down. I think I'll pass since I won't have enough app storage available to even store 2 of my Game Loft games. It's 2011 and HTC is still giving us 1gb of app storsge.

ya I dont want plastic at all... and launcher pro will take care of the sense hogging down if it does slow it down... doubt it will. The Sensations resolution helps with pixels... I've seen a couple captivates, and a vibrants that had weird looks to the text stuff... Sure they are bright and vivid but clarity is awesome...
Besides that Samsung has a well bad rap when it comes to phones, lol... just saying the G2X is awesome but I prefer HTC and Sense.

Let us know how you feel when its not so great in sunlight.

the sensation has most likely been sitting in boxes with those encrypted bootloaders.
and the benchmarks i see do not score 2400 on the sensation.
But it should be a decent phone, also the sensation has the mhl connection not a seperate hdmi and i hear it doesnt come with the cable. and they are hard or imposible to find.
also the mhl standard does allow charging but no hardware out at this time knows that standard so no charging while using hdmi out.
It did take 3 tries but i think i have a good g2x finallly it was dated april 30th for anyone that cares
So i would wait and see whats said once they come out.
Im sure it will be a fine phone but if you are into modding id wait and check out that bootloader first.

Sense ui eats so much ram!

No way would I touch a sensation after I researched it for my buyers remorse period when I bought the G2x. Glad I made the right choice in choosing a phone. I never had a problem with any of my G2x phones. I traded the first one because of the backlight but never had any reboots or issues. The second one is near flawless.
The Sensation looks like a sweet phone and all but it is just to much of a step back in too many departments coming from the G2x.

Sure you can opt to run Launcher Pro and not use Sense... but that doesn't mean that Sense just vanishes. All those graphic files have to be stored somewhere. I cooked many Sense roms to know the difference in weight between a Sense and Non-Sense rom.

[Q] Is The Infuse Worth It?

So I have a Captivate and was thinking about upgrading to the Infuse. Is it worth getting? I know it has a better camera and a larger screen, but reviews say that the screen PPI is less than the Captivate and the processor isn't dual core. Just 200mhz faster. So I'm at a crossroads... Keep my Cappy or upgrade?

I personally think it is a great device. i can say one of the best i have own. People make such a big fuzz about screens i honestly done get it. it doenst have one of those cheap phone screens, so im set. i can read my text, videos look good. so im good. its a phone not a computer.
its good phone, it works and functions as it should. so im content. this is my first samsung phone. and im happy. its a great little big device

My first android and im in love. I would recommend the infuse. Unless if ur in the battle between the infuse and sgsII. I still love my infuse though.

I'd say totally worth it, had a captivate running gingerbread and loved it but this blows it away, far better screen, camera(also front facing), gps rocks, love downloading movies from pirate bay straight from my phone and watching them on the big screen with an hdmi. It's really fast, great roms so far and it'll get gb roms really soon... I bought mine for 200 and right now it's only 50 at target! The only downside is the sgs2 will be released next month... Either way both are huge upgrades from the already awesome captivate!

I have the inspire and the infuse, and i really like the infuse better. Its a very snappy phone. The battery life is way better on the infuse, its lighter and the screen is better than the inspire. Now with that said, compared to the Craptivate which was my first android phone the infuse is 100 times better. I have a feeling when we get gingerbread its going to be a great device.

I don't think it's worth it, the specs aren't all that different. (400mhz bump in clock speed, slightly better camera, slightly better screen). I'd wait till August for the S2 at the very least.
I mean, I do love my Infuse.. But let's be realistic.

It all depends, if the main thing you do with the phone is talk and play a couple songs then its not worth it.
But if you do a lot of other stuff with the phone and have an extra $200 bucks to shell out like I did, you can buy a new or near new one on eBay for under $450 and you can sell your captivate for at least $225 if its in good shape and complete. So its not as if you were to shell out $450.
I sold my Captivate for $250 on eBay in less than 2 days about 3 weeks ago.
There is a big difference between Captivate and Infuse.
Since I take a lot of pictures the main thing which comes to mind is the fact that the Infuse has a LED flash, the flash is nothing like a professional strobe BUT without the LED flash, as I am certain you know by now that you can forget about taking decent pictures indoors or outdoors at night.
With the LED flash I get very decent pictures anywhere and anytime as long as the subject(s) is not much further than 7 feet or so from where I stand.
Plus the Infuse also has a front facing camera which is great for video chat using wifi and or 3G. Not to forget that the camera is much better being its 8Megapixels.
And yes the Infuse is not double the speed of the Captivate, but the 20% increase which it does have is nothing to sneeze at either. It is noticably faster. The speed difference is most noticable when playing action games and when you surf the web.
Perhaps 4G is in your future? if it is, the Infuse has that too.
Plus you can record and watch 720p videos then connect the phone to big screen tv using the mini hdmi adaptor which comes with the phone.
All in all its well worth the couple hundred bucks difference.
If you do plan to buy one, I would suggest you do it as soon as you can because the longer you wait the less money you will be able to sell the Captivate for on eBay or anywhere else.
I wanted to write about the big 4.5 inch SCREEN last, that in my mind is such a huge difference that if everything else was the same on both phones and the only difference was the screen size I would have still purchased the Infuse..
A half inch does not sound like much at all, but when you consider something so small to start with as a 4 inch screen and then you add a half inch to that, it makes the Infuse screen approx 20% larger.
Not only is the screen larger, but it uses a much newer Super Amoled Plus screen technology which really rivals the iPhone screen as far as resolution goes, its way better than the Captivate. Infuse is much better on the eyes for people who spend a lot of time using all the features of the phone.
Well thats about it........... That's my review and comparison between Captivate and the Infuse phones.

BestBuy definately matches. Just bought one a few hours ago. Had them price check on the web and even told them Target wasnt getting them until tomorrow. All depends on the rep. Manager signed off on the 50 Target price match no problem.

They price matched for me too. Go back get a different rep and adk for a.price match. Stop by target and pick up there ad. That should seal the deal.

I have had or used several phones lately:
BlackBerry (Sets the Standard, but I don't see BB keeping up with the trend)
HTC Tilt 2 (The best speakers),
Moto Razor (Still going strong after 5 years) Wife loves it
Samsung Blackjack 3 (wore the paint off the keyboard)
Moto Atrix (Fast phone and very nice)
HTC Inspire (just keeps getting better)
Infuse (The best screen out there)
My favorite of all is the Infuse, except it doesn't make Chai Latte' with a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg.
There are hundreds of phones out there to choose from for hundreds of different needs, likes and dislikes.
There are a lot of critics over cell phones, but any of the top brands and top models are going to be just right for someone. Manufactures are cranking out new models faster than the first recharge. The Infuse I have is an engineering marvel. You just can't beat Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Palm, BB, LG, Nokia, Apple, etc.
I still have an old Qualcomm from around 1995. I keep it as a reminder of how far phones have come in just a few years.
The Infuse is a top-of-the-line SmartPhone. The only complaint I have about it is: No External LED notification lights.
The hottest phone I'm hearing about and reading about is the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G

nothing wrong with the ol cappy, nor the infuse. hell verizon customers need to make a choice, tegra2 or lte. all the lte phones have single core 1ghz processors. all the dual core phones are 3g. they had to either drop or delay the bionic due to heat issues. instead they released a 3g droid x2 with the tegra chipset.
id rather have a nice thin samsung than all that stuff they have on verizon, and i can do without the sgs2 for now. ill get next years varient though im sure. i cant keep a phone for 2 years anymore. i have an obsession.

At least I know I'm not alone anymore
For some reason I always feel the need to upgrade my phone every 6mo or so. Right now have the iPhone so it makes it easier to stay with 1 phone for a full year. Android moves so quick that I'm always trying to find that perfect phone that does everything imaginable for me.

I sell mobile phones for a living and every time I unbox an Infuse and fire it up I'm blown away. I prefer Samsung phones, had the Vibrant and Nexus S. Currently I have a G2x and I couldn't be more disappointed. I'm so close to switching over to the Infuse....

The Infuse is my first Android. I switched over from an iPhone 3G. And oh my goodness what an upgrade it was. I can never go back to an iPhone with it's baby-sized screen. The Infuse is one of my best purchases ever and I have not looked back since. I thought I could never live without my iPhone. Then came my Infuse and 2 days later, I sold my iPhone with no regrets at all. Go with the Infuse. It is amazing. And Netflix just released for it, making it even sweeter.
