Ordered online will local store replace? - HTC Inspire 4G

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I ordered my phone online and it has a dead pixel. Do you guys think my local store will exchange for another one? I did not buy with a contract. I would hate to go with out my phone...especially now that I am loving THIS phone.

what store did you order it from? i think most national chains will replace your stuff in store. not positive though.

Amazon is very good about exchanges within 30 days if that's where you got it. Otherwise you can call 611 I had one captivate replaced by amazon and one by AT&T

If you ordered from AT&T online a cor store will exchange for you. If you purchased from an agent like Wirefly they will not.

Hey gunny! I followed you on the captivate and now have an inspire. What I did fellows is speak with an account executive about my ****ty captivates performance and they offered me the inspire for the contract price. Great deal and awesome phone. I am kind of bummed that I found a dead pixel. So it appears a core store will exchange? I hate to exchange it....over one stuck pixel. Hope they don't think I'm being a **** or anything. I just know its gonna bother me down the road.

Ugh. I got like 3 dead pixels stuck on the top right corner, barely noticeable...but I notice it. did you get it replaced?

Yeah. I just got back from the retail store about an hour ago. It kind of sucked because the pixel was so small and they could hardly see it. It was stuck in green which didn't help. I have very good eye sight. I can even see the pixels on the iPhone 4 screen. Eventually they were able to see it and replaced the phone. They were amazed at how I got the phone without a contract though.

Would you buy the recertified Thunderbolt?

My Incredible, which I love, took a bath in my pocket and is having all sorts of issues now. I'm up for an upgrade and decided that I'm going with a Thunderbolt over the Inc2. My question is, has anyone had horror story with the recertified phones from Verizon? My boss got his Incredible from the precertified program and has had continuous issues. Thoughts?
Should be ok. If theres something
Wrong you could always send it back for a new one. I had hardware problems with a replacement and they had no problem sending out a new one.

I've never bought a certified reused phone but i did go through warranty replacements and they send me certified used ones. I don't really see a difference. They look brand new and work just as fine. If there is a problem, you can always exchange it or ask for another warranty replacement,
I suppose I could go a week or two prior to rooting it to make sure there aren't any issues. I guess I'd survive.
Mines certified used from vzw. Was bassically brand new I'm box. Everything was new except the SD card i think, it was already installed in the phone. Haven't had any problems whatsoever

I don't have a problem with a recertified device. Anytime you receive a replacement device for issues you're receiving a certified like new device. If you have any problems Verizon still covers it and replaces it for you. I would buy one.
no i hate refurbs.
Mine is a referb and I have not had a problem. Rooted it and everything and not a single problem.

Yes, depending on price. Got my brand new TB on launch day for $75 (after loyalty discount & Best Buy comp) so it would have to be pretty cheap!
Thanks, Robrecht
I would buy an HTC refurb. I've never had bad luck with manufacturer refurbished items, there are certain products that are cheap to begin with that I wouldn't buy refurbished, but then again I generally don't buy cheap stuff new either, especially when it comes to hardware.
I'd love to find a refurb on sale to buy for my girlfriend to use as we're both just starting to get into some theming and learning some development
My Bolt is a CPO. I got it for $199. The first one they sent was defective. I simply called them and they sent another. No worries since. Before my first two weeks had completed, they dropped the price on the CPO's to $169. I called them up and asked about it...they credited me the $30. I've been very pleased. Especially coming from the Eris.
Go for it.

I got mine new for 99 for an upgrade they gave me 100 off then I got a postcard with another 50 a week after I bought it so I ended up paying 99. My girl got the palm 2 and I did bill to my account ( I lost my wallet ) and instead of billing my acct the credited it for 149 dollar's. LOL bet that'll never happen again.

I buy used phones all the time, who knows if they are a refurb or not, never have problems.
Most of the problems people return their phones for can be solved with a master reset.
Nothing wrong with a cpo/refurb device imo
Buy a used TH from Craigslist and don't extend your contract. Then when the dual-core phones arrive get one of those. My next phone will be 4G, dual-core with 4 inch screen. TB just too big/heavy but I like it.

are there any good sales for this phone?

Long story short: broke my Sidekick, need a new phone.
the only phones I'm interested in is another Sidekick ($380), or a mytouch 4g slide (at least $500). problem is, even though my contract has run only a few months, it's actually cheaper to pay the cancellation fee (max $200) and switch to another provider than to buy a new phone unsubsidized, which afaik, is all t-mobile will allow. (kind of a screwed up business model, huh?)
so since its almost black friday in 6 hours or so,, does anyone know of a good sale on either Mytouch 4g slide, or even the Sidekick?
May want to check t mobiles website. You can always buy a refurbished phone as well.

You would probably be better off buying the phone off ebay or Amazon, because they're a lot cheaper than buying them from TMobile

Just buy a Droid RAZR with Verizon off Amazon, 1 cent.

thanks for the suggestions guys, but the only good deal I found at all was for the Samsung Transform Ultra, on Boost Mobile. so I went for that, I think I'll be pretty happy to finally have real stock android rather than a Sense/Touchwiz infection.
I did look for deals on tmobile phones, but they were all for new contracts and upgrades ONLY. I even got on the customer service line twice and explained to them that 1. I could not keep using the broken phone, and 2. the ONLY adequate replacements are twice the cost of cancelling; they did not seem to have a contingency for this. oh well, their loss. my new phone, of course, will have a protection plan, but still, Tmobile really should rethink their replacement system.

Just sell your cell phone contract to a third party.
well now that i'm on Boost, I've been noticing that If I started a new contract with Tmobile under the current black friday weekend deals, I could get this or several other phones free and then actually recoup some of the money I just spent, provided I return the Boost phone I just bought. so:
in general, how good is this phone? I noticed it seemed smooth and lagless in store, but of course that's just a store model without a bunch of additional apps from the market. I'm mostly wondering if Sense causes problems at all regarding compatibility with any apps, or stability problems that wouldn't be expected to happen on a stock 2.3 rom. I have a stock 2.3 phone now, so that could be a risky change; however, this phone I have is only $230 new, single core, and is known for a screen sensitivity problem that may get worse on my handset, but may not.
also, could I expect any problems or side effects from rooting? one of my goals in that, if I get the MT4GS, will be to quickly turn the "genius" button into a search button. that cause problems for anyone? I did the same thing on the Sidekick, and sometimes it worked, sometimes not. but it may have just been that particular phone.

[Q] AT&T Store Question

Will AT&T allow you to turn on and inspect the One X before purchasing it? I want to make sure it has no dead pixels before I pull the trigger. I have the worst luck with that stuff. From what I've seen in some reviews it has a big sticker covering the screen that says something like "I'm the one you've been waiting for". I wonder if I can take that off and look at the screen before definitely saying "i'll take it".
Also, does the *#0*# screen test work on HTC phones?
Thanks in advance!
I would definitely inspect the unit before I signed the contract or finished my purchase. Would be a bummer to find a stuck pixel right after leaving the store. I'm sure they would exchange, but I would rather find any issues before they had my money.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I already turned on and played around with the one they set aside for me for tomorrow.
Can't wait!
If you ask - yes.
But if there was a defect with it you can just exchange it on the spot anyway.
We can't do that with iphones because they're wrapped in plastic.
Can you exchange a defective phone at any AT&T store, or does it have to be the one you bought it from?
I'm on my 2nd AT&T One X. Both have dead pixels. I was going to live with this one (2 dead pixels) but then I started noticing random dust particles underneath the screen. This is ridiculous.
I'd prefer not to return to the same store because it's only a matter of time before they start getting angry with me for turning all of their One X's into refurbs.
And how many will they allow me to exchange before they say enough is enough? I've gone through 6 monitors before due to dead/stuck pixels, and the new one still has some stuck pixels. I gave up since the new one is nearly perfect. It is my theory that *most* high resolution LCD monitors have at least one pixel defect, because I always seem to find them.
But back to the question... Can I exchange at another AT&T store to prevent angering the managers at the original store?
yeah i dont have a dead pixle but my screen formed a small bubble then chiped off. really annoying.
And what happens if they don't have the phone in stock due to the customs delay? I have limited time to make this exchange so how does that work?
Dunno but those are all very good questions. My screen isn't perfect but I'm not going to risk getting a worse one.
Sent from my HTC One X
You can exchange at any corporate owned store. If they are out of stock, have them notate your account that you were back within 30 days and have them call you once they are in stock.
EDIT: I worked at AT&T until a couple days ago... this is SOP for when a phone is out of stock and someone needs to do a DOA exchange.

Probably like any other retail job. You have goals to meet and you do anything you need to to meet them. If you don't meet your goals you fix it or you're gone.
I'm on my third. First one had dust. Second one wouldn't charge or sync and now my third has the bottom of the screen light leak. Its like my phones smiles at me.
Got third one yesterday. Gonna call att tomorrow. I wonder if its a 25% chance for a good unit with this phone?

AT&T was a great company to work for. I just wanted to get out of the retail hours. I worked at a mall location, so I'd leave as late as 10:30 some nights. I have a 9 month old and a wife, so that was getting old.
But the benefits are really good... It's a union job, so health insurance is great once you've worked there for over 6 months. I'm talking $120/mo for two people (health, life, vision and dental) and a $500 out-of-pocket max for the year. Last year I made mid-40s, which for the work you do is good money. You just have to deal with quotas and customer surveys and a lame scheduling system. I never had to worry about hitting my targets. Just take care of the customer and focus on what would be best for them and your numbers will follow.

Wow.
Yeah, I noticed it yesterday when I was looking for accessories on AT&T's website. AC has an article too:
http://www.androidcentral.com/att-htc-one-x-out-stock-online
I hoping they just sold out and there isn't an issue with the initial batch of phones.
Well lets just say a few days ago I was at target and the lady said they sold out so fast she never even had time to replace the plaque that had the "coming soon" shown in front of phone. So she just left it there since she couldn't keep them in stock.
Yesterday I went to look online to see which best buy had this phone in stock for a friend of mine, and out of the nearest 10 best buys around me, they were all sold out.
I think this phone even with its relatively low press coverage compared to phones like Tmobile's One S is doing really well.

I went to an AT&T store in downtown Washington DC the next day the One X was released ( I believe it was a Monday) and they were sold out.
It's more likely they've been taken off the shelf to push the new update that fixes WiFi and messaging.
I really doubt the phone is selling out. When I picked mine up they told me I was the first person to buy it. Sadly, all the other customers were just there for iPhones.

I've been to many brick-n-mortars (AT&T, Radioshack, Best Buy) looking for accessories and all the employees were asking me about it. Employees at stores that don't have "live" models on display, like RS and BB, even wanted to check my HOX out.
It's a great phone. My local store had them in stock on release day. I was in yesterday for a swap, and they still had a couple available. Even in MS this is a popular phone.

Disappointed with HTC QC

My first htc one x was white and had light bleed. I just got it exchanged for a black one. It is flawless...or at least I thought. It has dust under the screen and its annoying. My local att store is stubborn and the guys there are mean. I bought this phone off-contract so I can't live with these defects. What should I say to the guys at the ATT store?
Also, I am very disappointed with HTC quality check system at this point

I had to pay a restocking fee to get a grey one. Well actually I wanted another white one but they are out of stock everywhere. And the said because of the customs thing they didn't know when they were getting more in. But because it was a different color they said it was like getting a whole different phone even though that's all they had left. They did offer to credit me on my bill though for the fee. I asked if I could have the zagg shield instead and they were cool and said ok.
It still makes me wonder though why they would charge a restocking fee for a defective unit. It wasn't my fault they only had grey left.

Well guys just thought id update you all. I just took my phone in for exchange because of the dead pixel. The new one looks great so far....lets hope I don't suddenly notice a dead pixel lol
Same happened to me, bought off contract white one x and exchanged for the grey due to light leak. Except i had to pay the restocking with no credit back or anything. This new one is great though so im happy.
Can we get away off restocking fee if we complain about no multitasking?
I can't even use my data logging app, as it's being closed all the time...I call it a defect...
Oh and they say it has 16gb, while we only get 10gb - that's a lie (btw, the store I bought it from (BestBuy) had a note regarding different phones, and for the HTC One X it was saying that it has 16gb expandable to 32gb)
Don't fret, simply take it back and exchange it. If there's a clear manufacturers defect the last thing on my mind is to worry about it. I think "sweet, I have irrefutable evidence to support an exchange".
That being said though, I've never had any issues with any Android handsets I've purchased. I always read about screens with light bleeding, dust under the screens, misaligned cases, etc. Never, ever had a problem and I'm hyper critical.
Return it, get your money back, and patronize a store that treats you properly.

Yeah and unless traffic to/from that dropbox doesn't count as data usage, I wouldn't consider it as free or expandable, but more like a LIE, especially if one doesn't have unlimited data.
Login on the PC to your dropbox account, then complete the star-up guide thing to access all your data space. I was confused about it before as well. And yea it does cost data to transfer so not all that useful. Luckily I don't really need 26GB of data out of my 32 GB available. But this phone is amazing anyway! Friends are very jealous!

Sounds like the amaze except both colors have light bleed. Can't believe they didn't fix this on there newest phone. People always saying there build quality is so good but yet the can't fix a problem that was a issue on a older phone.

You say this like other companies don't have QC issues. The new iPad has severe issues with really yellow screens and light bleeding. And that's from the biggest company on the planet.
