I'm rooted, s-off and running AndroidRevolution HD, but for some reason my phone will not boot into CWM. Any suggestions? I'm coming from a Captivate and I noticed that there is no update.zip file on my sd card.
Did you turn fastboot off?

or if fastboot is on, tell your phone to reboot and hold the volume down button the whole time.
Fastboot is turned off. I've tried "Install ROM from SD Card" and "Reboot into Recovery" and still nothing. Very frustrating.

Rather than trying to enter recovery from ROM Manager, have you tried either:
A) With phone off, hold Volume - and Power until HBoot starts, then select recovery
B) With phone on, hold Volume - and choose Restart from the power menu, hold Vol - until HBoot appears, and choose Recovery

Well I updated my CWM to the latest .5 or something because it was supposed to fix the charging while off problem, unfortunately now I can't get into CWM manually at all.
I used to be able to pull the battery, plug phone in, put battery back and turn on and it would load CWM. Now it just begins charging and then boots normally when I hold the power button.
Any help?
Heres what i do:
1. Shutdown the phone
2. Once its off, press and hold the volume down, then press and hold the powerbutton.
3. once in the bootloader, use you volume down button to select the recovery option, to click it press the power button and it should be on CWM recovery.
OR
1. Download ROM manager from the Android Market
2. Once installed, Click on "Reboot to recovery" or something similar.
I tried flashing chingy's gingervitis but its got all sorts of problems for me.
Can someone tell me how to get into CWR without Rom manager so I can flash my backup? I can't download it from the market because opening the market freezes and reboots my phone.
Turn phone off > Hold vol - (first) then hold the pwr button
Plug into pc...adb reboot recovery

If you want to restore a CW backup choose the "recovery" option.
Sometimes it will start scanning the P05IMG.zip file if you have one on the SD so take it off with a card reader so HBOOT doesn't scan the file, unless you want to just restore one of the RUU's then you can leave it there and install it from HBOOT.
Hello all,
How can I confirm that CWM is installed in my phone? I just ran the CWM installation and I'm not quite sure if it installed succesfully. Thanks for any help!
Go into hboot and select recovery and see if it let's you in.

Just boot into the recovery and see if it loads up CWM.
Download Rom manager, and click reboot into recovery. Then it will reboot to CWM

- Go to Settings>Power, and uncheck "Fast boot". Then power off the phone.
- Once powered off fully, hold the volume down button, and press and release the power button. Keep the vol down button depressed until a white screen comes up with Android mascots along the bottom. This is hboot.
- From there, use the volume rocker to navigate up and down, and power to select. Select "Recovery".
If a black screen with blue text menus appears, you have CWM.
If you don't have CMW, a black screen with a symbol with a green circle will appear, and after a few seconds be replaced with a red exclamation mark.
thanks guys! got it!

HTC wildfire S (marvel) - 2.3.5 ginger, kernel: 2.6.35.10

At the recovery menu, use the volume buttons to select "install zip from sd card".
after I hboot and select the recovery menu the HTC logo comes up and after a while (5-7 secs) the phone shuts down.

I recently tried to install ics on my device and ran into some problems. I followed the instructions to the T but when I went to reboot my phone after the installation I ran into a boot loop. Eventually I had to download and install a return to stock file. Well 4 actually. The fourth one finally worked. Now my phone is back to normal but I still want ics. I believe the ics version was darknight. Any insight/help would be great and muchly appreciated.

Flashing the ICS rom that you have chosen will take two flashes, if you're coming from Gingerbread.
Download the rom zip. Put the rom zip on the internal sdcard, and then shut the phone off. Then, hold the power button and both volume buttons. When you see the Samsung logo, release the power button and continue to hold the volume buttons until you enter red CWM recovery. Choose "install zip from sdcard" (using the volume keys) and press power to select. Then select "choose zip from sdcard" and choose the rom zip. Confirm your choice and flash. When the flash is finished, go back to the main menu and select "reboot system now".
At this point, the phone will hang at a screen with the Galaxy S logo and won't boot anything. That's normal. Hold the power button and both volume keys. The phone will turn off for a moment. Keep holding power and both volume keys. When you see the Samsung logo, release the power button and continue to hold the volume keys until you are in blue CWM recovery. In blue recovery, choose "mounts and storage"; then "format system", "format data", and "format cache". Go back and select "install zip from sdcard" and "choose zip from sdcard" to flash the rom zip again. After the rom flash, go back and select "reboot system now". The phone should boot into the new rom.
