greetings,
I have a new GTablet, started with Tap UI version 1.0-2763. email began stopping, so installed clockworkMod Recovery, did backup, installed update.zip, which turned out to be Tap UI v 1.1-3588. email and more stops, so no help. Also, new problem -- even though System Storage sees \sdcard2, the photo, music and video apps don't see the card. So:
1. how can system be cleaned up to prevent app stopping?
2. how to get the apps to include \sdcard2? (Answer: do a Factory Data Reset)
Thank you
If u try titanium backup and clear the data app by app that worked for me

I know when you root the N1 it wipes the phone. My question is can I use any of the various backup programs to back all my apps up and re-install when I root? If so, which is recommended?
My applications were partially restored after rooting. Not sure how, though.
Mybackup Pro will do what you ask.
Seems like it restores apps you install from the market.
Any app not installed from the market has too be be manually re-installed.

It appears, from what some others have suggested, that it reinstalls apps you have installed from the Market if you have Google backup your settings. And yes, MyBackup Pro is a nice app. A bit pricey but it's extremely useful, especially if you are always wiping (a 30 day free trial is available if you only need it once). My Backup for Root Users is free but it can be buggy at times and obviously cannot be used until after you've rooted.
has anyone noticed mybackup pro errors out on home screen backup?
no errors on mine.
its not an error that stands out...when i perform a backup i select bookmarks, sys settings, android home, and playlists. once the app is finished backup up the data i get the summary window which displays the following:
backup bookmarks successful
backup system settings successful
backup home shortcuts failed: null
backup music playlist successful
I have had no problems with My Backup Pro. I especially like the online backup just in case your SD card becomes corrupt and wipes everything.
Astro
Astro file manager has an application backup tool, and it will save the apps to the SD card.
Astro is a very cool file manager and completely free.
I've been using Mybackup Pro for a while now, as I am always swapping between phones, and wiping them etc. so I figured I would pay for the pro version.
If however it is just to wipe the phone once, I would recommend the trial version. It can be installed to back things up, then you can install it again after the wipe and restore everything to the way it was.
Hope that helps any.
I haven't taken the plunge to Cyanogen's beta ROM yet. Is there a way to back up all of my phone's settings (notification settings, sounds selections, homescreen layouts) so that I can restore them afterwards without jacking things up?
I've used apps to back up my settings before, but am always scared to restore settings following a wipe when going from one kind of ROM to another, or (in this case) from stock to a custom ROM. Should I not be worried?
I'm missing a few Apps from App Drawer that should be there.
some background info :
Recently switched roms from cm7 to superasop 8.2.
I did a full wipe and restored my apps + data using Titanium Backup.
Everything went fine until I rebooted the phone and found that Angry Birds, PocketCloud and Toki Tori are missing from the app drawer.
Went to settings -> applications and the apps are still there installed, just can't access them.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling through titanium backup as well reinstalling manually through android market.
Bug? Sorry I cannot post in the SuperASOP forum because of the stupid 10 post rule.
hmm i found out that the app is not in app drawer because I had moved it from phone memory to SD.
No one .... ?

I'm having the same problem since installing NSCollab 1.0.38 w/Matrix.
Apps show installed in Market but won't show up when 'All' apps are selected on the NS.
Had this before, I cleared market cache, uninstalled the app (the app was still showing up in apps menu) via Titanium, logged into market again, the app wasn't showing up there so I simply redownloaded it and deleted it properly afterwards.
Another option would be fixing permissions in cwm recovery. It's under advanced tab. Maybe also wipe /cache.
I have installed the backup and everything works fine, but suddenly i receive a google talk authentification error and i am not able to download apps from the google market or to receveive google mails. If i restart the phone it works for some hours and the error occurs again. I use a googlemail account.
For the problem:
You can try these solutions.
1) The automatic synchronization and data in the background is turned on?
If not, both activated and restart the mobile.
2) under "Settings" "Applications" "Manage Applications" " Clear the cache of Google talk and Android Market
3)Make a wipe of DalviK Cache
PS: Radical Solution
Save the program with backup titanium and restore the factory.
"Settings" "Privacy" Factory data reset.
The 1 and the 2 i have still tried, but without succcess. Now ia have started the radical "tour". I hope it solves the problem
Hello!
I've rooted my Nexus S and decided to remove some system apps that I don't use.
I downloaded Root Uninstaller from Market and removed this ones:
PHP:
BooksTablet_2.3.6.apk
com.google.android.apps.googlevoice-2_0.4.2.54.apk
com.google.earth-2_6.2.apk
HoloSpiralWallpaper_4.0.4-299849.apk
LiveWallpapers_4.0.4-299849.apk
Microbes_4.0.4-299849.apk
NoiseField_1.0.apk
PhaseBeam_1.0.apk
talkback_3.0.2.apk
VideoEditorGoogle_1.1.apk
Videos_1.4.11.apk
VisualizationWallpapers_4.0.4-299849.apk
VoiceDialer_4.0.4-299849.apk
VoiceSearch_3.0.1.apk
I thought that they are not so critical.
After rebooting I stucked with constant error from gapps and every other app that uses SD card. For example, error stack from Financisto:
Code:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{...}: android.database.sqlite.SQLiteReadOnlyDatabaseException: attemt to write a readonly database.
Same thing with stock Exchange app, Gtalk and others. However, Total Commander can browse and view files on it. Mount to computer with USB also works fine.
I can try to wipe and/or flash custom rom, but want to save information from some apps. Stock 4.0.4 rom and Matr1x kernel.
Any suggestions how to fix this?
Back up your apps with titanium backup. It'll save the data as well. Just restore data+app for those select few. Wipe and reflash. Best bet is to always freeze apps because of stuff like this happening. You really aren't gaining any significant amount of space by deleting them anyways.

Not to intrude, but could you help me with an issue with my Nexus S ?

All are fine to deleted except com.google.android.apps. Restore it and you shouldn't have any issues.

Thank you, but I was unable to install anything. Things got worse and I received constant errors from every google app. I tried to install Titanium several times from market or apk or recover deleted gapps from backup without success.
So I wiped my phone and now all is ok.
Last night i upgraded from nougat to oreo and applications start to crash.
And in some games i can't even log in with facebook / twitter. Everytime time i hit the login with facebook/twitter button, the game crash.
Torrent application not showing any text / pic.
The battery is not draining fast, but faster than nougat's.
Some application don't make to their page. Some do, but few seconds later *crash*.
Octopus' (keymapping app) service is running but the app always crashes when i try to run it.
SmartThings, sometimes bluetooth keyboard and mouse stop working.
I tried factory reset on setting, clearing cache on recovery mode. Nothing works.
I appreciate any help!
Uninstall and reinstall the apps, or clear data and not just cache in app manager.
Personally I always do a clean wipe on new OS versions partially because of this reason, you bring up old data from the previous version and often causes issues.

I did factory reset through setting menu, should i try hard reset?
Ah I thought you meant you reset the app settings. But yes a factory wipe in recovery is going to be more thorough than one through settings.
Other wise you can do a full flash in Odin using the stock firmware files, that method doesn't trip knox / warranty etc
