Hi all. After updating my i897 via kies yesterday, all went well.. I re-rooted and phone is working as it should. However, I just went into "Settings... SD card and phone storage" and noticed something strange. For my External SD card, I have the usual options "Total space", "Available space", Unmount SD card", and "Format SD card". The only one highlighted is "Umount SD card". HOWEVER.. on the Internal SD card, I only have "Total space", "Available space", and "Format SD Card" (which is highlighted!). No option to "Mount/Unmount". so two concerns... why is the "Format SD card" highlighted...seems risky... and where did the option to Mount/Unmount" go? It's disconnected from PC and has been rebooted, but still shows this. Thanks for your help.
Yep I have the same thing and I am running Cog 4
And why here is something wrong?
are you in debugging mode my is working

With USB Debugging On or Off... it's the same. images attached.
Mine has the option to unmount the external card, however it locked up last time I tried. Using KB1.

if you have your usb cord plug in to your pc and phone. on the screen that you slide down doesnt it have a place to mount your card there . my says usb connected hit that and it mounts both cards to add stuff to the cards.

I am having some issues with putting files on the sd card with it installed on the phone not sure of what i can do...thanks for any help you can give me
format card to fat32. Plug phone into pc and mount it to pc. When the drives pop up, open the folder looking thing. and theres your files. Now drag and drop from pc to in there.
this is more for using it with double twist
i tried that and in double twist it only gives me the 5 gb internal option not both internal and sd card options

did you go in and mount the sd card in the menu > settings?
I just updated to the recent Gingerbread release (2.3.3, LG-P999-V21e) and it seems to have broken my SD Card connectivity on my G2x.
I have a 16GB SD card mounted on my phone, but when I'm connected to my PC via USB and try to "Turn on USB storage" I get the spinning loading icon for about 10 seconds I then get notified that my SD card has been unmounted in the notification bar. If I leave it unmounted and try to connect again, it connects fine, but I don't have access to the unmounted SD card. I've tried remounting it, and get the same results.
I don't have DoubleTwist or Winamp installed. I've tried checking and unchecking "Mass storage only", and I've tried a different SD card. I also updated to the latest LG phone drivers before I updated the phone. I even reverted the phone back with the "factory data reset" with no luck. I'm at a total loss. It doesn't seem like any one else has had this problem since the update...so I might just be screwed.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
I had a similar problem, though with various ROMs. Pull your SD and back it up to your computer, then reformat it in your phone.
Both Internal and external SD have to be unmounted for the USB storage mode to work.
There you can access both from your computer.
That did it....THANKS!
I'am having the same problem on my HTC Sensation running CM 10.2.
How do you unmount internal storage?
In cwm recovery. Go to mounts and storage. Unmount/mount internal storage

Just bought a Samsung Galaxy Pocket.
Settings -> SD card and phone storage settings:
There are three typs of storage. SD card, Internal phone storage, and USB Storage. What is that last one?
My Ace doesn't have the USB storage, only SD card and Internal phone storage. My galaxy pocket has all three, and I don't know what USB storage is and how it differs from Internal phone storage.
Are "Internal phone storage" and "USB Storage" two parts of one thing? Or are they two separate pieces of hardware?
Also, it doesn't have an SD card yet, so if I download an app that's suppose to install in SD card, will it install in 'Internal phone storage' or 'USB storage'?
Thanks!

Can you post screenshots?
My phone is unable to detect my SD card, details are as following:
1] I tried with two cards, one 4GB class2 card and 32GB class10 UHS-I card. Both cards were working fine before I messed up. (Scroll down to see what I did)
2] Both cards work fine on other phones (Lumia720, lenovo P780) and in my laptop when I connect them using card reader.
3] Other cards work fine in my phone. (Cards from Lumia720, lenovo P780)
4] Phone detects above memory cards (4GB, class2 card, 32GB class10 UHS-I) in Recovery menu. (I browsed it when I was trying to "install zip from sd card". And I could browse the entire sd card with no problem.)
5] In ES File explorer it says "SD card unmounted or not present". In "SD & phone storage", it says "Total space: unavailable", "Available Space: Unavailable". In camera app, it says "Please insert an SD card".
6] "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" is not working.
Here's what I did:
Everything was going smoothly.
1] 4GB card was in the phone, I did hard factory reset without unmounting the card. When I rebooted, above error occurred (SD card unmounted or not present).
2] I bought a new 32GB card, it was working fine in the phone.
3] While 32 GB card was inside phone: I installed "Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed" using "install zip from sd card" menu in "recovery" mode. When I rebooted above error occurred (For 32GB card).
4] I inserted previous 4GB card, it got detected and was working fine.
5] I did hard factory reset without unmounting the 4GB card. When I rebooted, above error occurred (with 4GB card).
Now both cards have above problem (SD card unmounted or not present).
Very strange problem. Will be glad to hear solution.
Thanx well in advance.

Yes, I've formatted it using FAT32 file system. Not working.

No, I formatted it using "MiniTool Partition Wizard". I can't detect SD card from "settings - phone storage" menu.
Mini Tool is to blame for that issue. I messed up a couple of SD Cards with it. The only way I could revive them was this: Find an older phone (not smart phone, some older Nokia or Samsung - I did it on Samsung J200) and insert the SD Card in it and format it within the settings of the phone. It should do the trick.
Hi folks,
I have an SD card here that I was using for Adopted Storage but I've managed to get it stuck as an "adopted" card and can't seem to get it back functioning as a normal SD card
Long story short... I wiped the device the card was in but I didn't "unadopt" the SD card before hand - as in set it back to portable mode. While the device could recognise there was an SD card afterwards, it couldn't prepare it for use and suggested a card error or something to that effect.
I figured I'd just pop it in my laptop (Windows 10 x64) and re-format it but this didn't work. Failing this, I decided I'd "nuke" it using Minitools Partition Wizard. While this program had better luck identifying the card, could display and delete the partitions on it and could run the Wipe task - it had no effect on the card... the partitions just re-appear after any attempt to nuke them!
Has anyone any ideas about how I can restore this card back to a normal FAT formated SD card?
Just to clarify - I don't care for the data that might be on it... I just want the card back usable
Thanks
Recovering an "Adopted" SD Card?
The best solution for now would be to plug the sd card into a phone with android 6.0 so that the phone can read the card and then while setting it up,you can format the card as "normal "(the part where it asks you whether to use the card as in adaptive storage or for accessing files).

When I try this, I get "Unsupported SanDisk SD card"
I'm then asked to select either Portable or Internal and then Erase & Format but neither work. They fail at 20% and the message "Unsupported SanDisk SD card" is shown again
I'm a bit stumped. I thought surely the encryption used on adopted cards was only to stop external reads. It seems in this case it's stopping me from writing to or formating the card
Running out of options
