What is USB Storage in my Samsung Galaxy Pocket? Read further pls? - General Questions and Answers

Just bought a Samsung Galaxy Pocket.
Settings -> SD card and phone storage settings:
There are three typs of storage. SD card, Internal phone storage, and USB Storage. What is that last one?
My Ace doesn't have the USB storage, only SD card and Internal phone storage. My galaxy pocket has all three, and I don't know what USB storage is and how it differs from Internal phone storage.
Are "Internal phone storage" and "USB Storage" two parts of one thing? Or are they two separate pieces of hardware?
Also, it doesn't have an SD card yet, so if I download an app that's suppose to install in SD card, will it install in 'Internal phone storage' or 'USB storage'?
Thanks!

[Q] Mount External SD to Computer

I previously had the original Vibrant. When I would mount the phone to my Mac Computer it would show both of my Internal and External SD cards.
Now when I mount my new Vibrant 4g it only shows the Internal SD card. I have turned on USB Debugging and it still won't display the External SD card.
Anyone know how to get both SD cards to mount to my computer?
Btw...in the time past I never needed to download drivers or anything.
You are most likely only seeing the external SD card when you mount it to your computer as the Galaxy S 4G does not have an internal 16gigs like the Vibrant. So only the external 16gig is mountable.

[Q] What is Kies Internal/External Storage?

In Kies, I show Internal Storage and it has the CWM Backup and Titanium Backup folders. Kies also shows external storage which seems the same size as my removable SD card.
On the phone, if I use Astro and browse SD card I see the CWM and Titanium folders under SDCARD.
I am totally confused - what is Kies showing as Internal and what is external and why doesn't it match Astro's SDCARD view?
Because they are different programs, and the phone has a built in internal 16 gigabyte sd card. Also a slot for a removeable sd card up to 32 gigabytes
So are there different device names for the internal and external SD cards? How to I reference each SD?
Internal sd card is one that comes with phone and external sd is when you put micro sdhc. And to refresh you can go into setting and storage and there you can see both internal and external. You can go to my computer and see both there as well.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 USB and SD card Storage

Hi everyone,
I've recently bought samsung galaxy ace 2 phone. And my question is regarding the usb storage and sd card storage. I searched the forum, but couldn't find solution to my problem.
In Galaxy Ace 2, GT-I8160, there are 3 kinds of storage being shown in the phone settings.
1. SD Card (the external sd card, which I've myself inserted in the phone and it is of 8GB)
2. USB Storage which is 1.2GB (which was built in storage I guess)
3. System Storage (which is also of about 1.1GB)
We know in android there are some apps which can be moved to SD Card, not all.
In other phones like my previous phone was HTC, in that phone when I moved an app to SD Card, it was moved to external SD card properly. But in samsung galaxy ace 2, whenever I move any app to SD card, it is moved to the usb storage, and not to the external sd card. And we know the usb storage of this phone is only 1.2GB. I want my apps (which are movable) to be moved to external sd card. What I've noticed, this phone is recognizing the usb storage as sd card.
Even if you go to settings - apps - Sd card, it'll show you the USB storage of 1.2GB, not the storage of my actual external SD card (8GB)
Why is this so? Why is this phone recognizing the usb storage as sd card storage. Why this phone is not recognizing my external sd card as the sd card storage?
Your response will be highly appreciated
Regards,
Omer.
I have the same problem and I just don't know which is which so basically I can't transfer anything.
Do you have the same phone? Samsung Galaxy Ace 2?
I think this is how it works may be. It is treating the USB storage as SD Card and ignoring the external SD card.
This may only be the case with samsung phones, because in HTC, the external sd card was considered as sd card and apps were moved to it.
Anyways I've found the following link regarding this issue, I won't try the solution mentioned in this link, coz it required root and I do not want to root my phone

Try to install samsung kies then connect phone with usb debug on. Troubleshoot to reinstall your usb driver. If this dont work uninstall samsung usb driver at device manager abd connect phone and wait for the computer to make update. Restart pc after process. Ty

[Q] What is USB Storage?

Hi everyone,
My Galaxy Ace Plus is my first Android phone, and since I bought it several months ago I was confused because I found 3 memory locations on my device: the Internal Storage, USB Storage, and the External Memory card that I added.
I can't really understand what the USB Storage is?
In fact I made a factory reset few days ago as the device was freezing a lot, and it asked me whether I want to format the USB storage or not, stating that if I chose to format it I will lose all my music and pictures and other files. So I became more confused because all my media files, ebooks, etc. are placed in the External Memory card! so why it would consume space of both storage locations!!
can anyone explain that please?
Also what will I lose if I formated the USB Storage only? would it improve the device performance anyway?
Thanks!

Internal storage , Usb storage & SD storage
internal storage is the one reserved for system, i.e 1.5 GB on Note, or in another words it is the flash memory of the device. It stores the components of ROM or the ANDROID OS. Applications get installed on this memory.
USB storage is the rest of the original storage on Note (i.e around 9.5 GB). In common language an Internal Memory where all your files are saved by default. This memory is used by most of the applications for storage of their data.
Most of the move2sd apps move apps from internal to SD Storage which means the USB Storage.
external SD Card storage, on the other hand, is the storage which relies on another SD Card put into the phone, e.g....external SD Card.
That's before you put external SD card..
If you put another SD Card in the phone, it will read as external SD Card. In the file system, it is known as external_sd.
Now, the answer to your next question.. Formatting the USB Storage of the phone is simply formatting your internal memory. It has nothing to do with PERFORMANCE. it just makes space available on your device's internal memory. :good:
Thanks a lot!

SD card not being used? (Concept ROM)

Hi,
I'm on the Concept Marshmallow build 3657.
I chose the option to combine my 64GB SD card so it can be used seamlessly with the internal storage (ie- not as portable).
But when I plug my phone into the PC, I only see the ~12GB of internal storage available. Also in a file explorer on the phone, I only see the 12GB internal storage.
In "Storage & USB" I see the internal storage is almost full, 11.00GB used of 11.57GB. And the SD card is listed there, only 739MB used of 56.7GB. I have some apps installed on it.
But how can I either: move photos, audio etc to the SD card from the internal storage (SD doesn't show up in file explorers). I thought the SD card would act as a seamless extension of internal storage, but that doesn't seem to be happening here.
Any advice on what I can do?
