Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 USB and SD card Storage - General Questions and Answers

Hi everyone,
I've recently bought samsung galaxy ace 2 phone. And my question is regarding the usb storage and sd card storage. I searched the forum, but couldn't find solution to my problem.
In Galaxy Ace 2, GT-I8160, there are 3 kinds of storage being shown in the phone settings.
1. SD Card (the external sd card, which I've myself inserted in the phone and it is of 8GB)
2. USB Storage which is 1.2GB (which was built in storage I guess)
3. System Storage (which is also of about 1.1GB)
We know in android there are some apps which can be moved to SD Card, not all.
In other phones like my previous phone was HTC, in that phone when I moved an app to SD Card, it was moved to external SD card properly. But in samsung galaxy ace 2, whenever I move any app to SD card, it is moved to the usb storage, and not to the external sd card. And we know the usb storage of this phone is only 1.2GB. I want my apps (which are movable) to be moved to external sd card. What I've noticed, this phone is recognizing the usb storage as sd card.
Even if you go to settings - apps - Sd card, it'll show you the USB storage of 1.2GB, not the storage of my actual external SD card (8GB)
Why is this so? Why is this phone recognizing the usb storage as sd card storage. Why this phone is not recognizing my external sd card as the sd card storage?
Your response will be highly appreciated
Regards,
Omer.

I have the same problem and I just don't know which is which so basically I can't transfer anything.

Do you have the same phone? Samsung Galaxy Ace 2?
I think this is how it works may be. It is treating the USB storage as SD Card and ignoring the external SD card.
This may only be the case with samsung phones, because in HTC, the external sd card was considered as sd card and apps were moved to it.
Anyways I've found the following link regarding this issue, I won't try the solution mentioned in this link, coz it required root and I do not want to root my phone

Try to install samsung kies then connect phone with usb debug on. Troubleshoot to reinstall your usb driver. If this dont work uninstall samsung usb driver at device manager abd connect phone and wait for the computer to make update. Restart pc after process. Ty

If you have issue with full of memory, you can swap memory, http://goo.gl/VnCnYN Just flash with cwm

THIS IS A SHORT AND EASY METHOD.

[Q] How to reset default internal sd card on Samsung Galaxy ace 2

Hello,
I have used the swapsd beta app to swap my internal sd card with the external sd card on my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 and now I am getting errors that memory space is not enough.
I’ve tried the default option to swap it back and it is not working.
When I go to view my files I get the error message ‘No SD card inserted’.
I can’t see the external memory nor the phone memory anymore when I plug my phone to my PC.
Please note that my phone is rooted.
Can someone send me the instructions to set it back to default please?
Thanks,
Krjnrj.

[Completed] [Q] Lenovo A880 memory card not detected

Hi everyone,
Firstly i want to apologize for my broken english.
I have an issue with my lenovo a880 which my sd card not detected.
Usb drive not detected on pc as well but im not using any usb software, plus when im charging usb option popup.
I tried change my sd card with others card, but it still not working.
Is this a failure from the phone software?
If it is the External SD Card not being detected, then that could be one of 2 reason.
1. Size and Capacity of the Card.
2. The way the card is formatted.
If the card is accessible on a PC, then I suggest format it as FAT32 and then try again.

[Completed] [Q] External sd card

Hi,
I just noticed this morning that my external sd card is not working anymore , at first I thought it was my Samsung galaxy tab2 10.1 that have a problem but I later put the external sd card in my LG Mobile Phone and it same thing, it is not recognised but when I insert the external sd card that I use on my LG Mobile Phone into my Samsung galaxy tab, it worked so I guess , the external sd card I use for my Samsung has gone but I have loads of things on it, PLEASE what can I do to retrieve them from the sd card that is not working.
I will be very grateful for your help.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. If the card is bad you may not be able to retrieve anything from it. But you can mount the card as a mass storage device on your PC so I'd try some data recovery tools that are available on the internet.

Without access to the micro sd card on android 5.02

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, if not a moderator please move it to the right place.
I installed GL to SD after I opened it he said I needed to change some issues / paste files and restarts.
Now I no longer have access to Ext Sd Card, I can not read or access anything. In the file manager says he has no more space available on it (before had 20GB available). I can not copy anything on it.
I pressed "restore Samsung Press" in the application, but did not solve the problem.
In my notebook I can read / write the Micro SD card removed from the cell through the adapter for the USB port.
When I put the Sd Card via USB OTG cable it can read / write the card also.
I tried with another Micro SD card and the same problem occurred. It seems that the GL To SD took my tablet's ability to access the Ext Sd Card.
Help me solve this problem.
(Tablet Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 SM-P905M)
Thanks

Recover Adopted Storage SD Card

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) and use LineageOS 16.0.
Yesterday my phone stopped reading the Micro SD card, which is a bummer because I enabled Adopted Storage. I suspect this to be a hardware issue (most likely the reader).
Can I somehow make a backup of the storage (internal + sd) ? I was thinking maybe attach the phone via adb and insert the sd card to the computer and then somehow put the two back together?
Also is there someway I can put that back up on the phone but not using adopted storage?
Any help is much appreciated
