SD Card - T-Mobile LG G2x

I am having some issues with putting files on the sd card with it installed on the phone not sure of what i can do...thanks for any help you can give me

format card to fat32. Plug phone into pc and mount it to pc. When the drives pop up, open the folder looking thing. and theres your files. Now drag and drop from pc to in there.

this is more for using it with double twist

i tried that and in double twist it only gives me the 5 gb internal option not both internal and sd card options

microSD card not showing up on FIleManager

Hi
I recently got a Kingston 8GB class 4 microSD card and installed it onto my captivate , when i connect to windows i can see both my 16GB internal Storage and my 8 GB microSD card , but none of the file managers seem to show the microSD card .
i tried several apps like SDcard speed tester , QSysteminfo etc they all just show the info about the internal Memory and dont really show any info about the microSD card
in the defualt camera option settings theres an option to select stoage and when i select memory card instead of phone and when i connect to windows i can see the photo being stored in my microSD card
also in the filemanager i see a path called SDCard\SD this seems like a soft like to my microSD card
my question is how do i make all these apps to recognize my microSD and say run a speed test on it.
any help appreciated.
Thanks

Not exactly what you are trying to say in this quote here, but sdcard/sd IS your external sd card.

Yes
/Sdcard is the internal storage (sometimes call internal SDcard or phone storage)
/SDcard/SD is your external SD card ( MicroSD)

Thanks for your response , so how do i run speed tests on this External microSD card all of those apps only recognize the phones internal 16GB memory.

Strange SD problem.

I'm having the same problem with 2 SD cards. It recognizes the card and all that but when I go into file manager and click storage I see at the bottom right /mnt/sdcard and there are a bunch of folder "downloads, dcim, movies etc". They all have files in them but the sd card still shows no space used.
When I pop out the sd card and go to file manager I still see the /mnt/sdcard and all the files and folders are there so obviously it's not storing stuff on the sd card even though file manager says it is.
Any idea as to what's going on?

one way 2 see the cards content is clicking on the notification icon bottom right of notification bar then the folder icon, this opens up the card and its content
correct path being /removable/microsd

There's a folder on the tablet called sdcard that is not actually an sd card. The physical sd cards can be seen under removable>MicroSD
So can I assume that the downlods/dcim etc folders don't save to the sd card automatically like on my evo? And if so is there any way to force it to?

It definitely seems that the apps think that the sdcard folder is truly the sdcard. I am really curious if you did apps to sd if it would just save the app in the sdcard folder, or look for a physical sdcard. I am wondering if my 16gb is partitioned somehow for system, data, and sdcard space. I am going to play around with this more when I have time.
With certain apps, you should be able to adjust the save location in the settings.
which sd card do you have?
Its treating the internal storage as if its the SD card you would put in a phone mounting it to /mnt/SDcard.
The actual SD card gets mounted to /Removable/SDCard.

There is no move to SD option in manage application settings as far as I can see theres no way to move apps to SD card, with the storage you get theres probably no need anyway.
/mnt/sdcard is indeed the onboard storage's sd card partition it seems. I think this is done similar to how the DInc handles its internal storage. The problem with things saving automatically to /mnt/sdcard and not the removable storage by default is because until honeycomb and tablets there haven't been any phones that have both internal storage and external sd card storage. The devs therefore only programmed apps that look for /mnt/sdcard because no matter what phone you used, thats either where the external card is or where the internal memory is partitioned as.
Until the app devs themselves update their software to allow for custom default save locations this will keep happening.
For instance, if you put an office document on one a microsd and try to open it inside quickoffice or polaris, you won't find it as those apps don't let you go any higher than /mnt/sdcard, which on the transformer is the internal memory.

It would seem they do download to the appropriate directories under /sdcard/, however /sdcard/ is the internal storage, not the MicroSD card. Looks to be a symlink to /mnt/sdcard.
Given this I expect applications that try to save to the SD card will save in /sdcard/, which of course ends up being the internal storage.

did you try formatting your sd card via a card reader or something? did you customize your phone at all?
Nop..didn't modified or change anything at all.But if i format the sd card and directly put it in the phone does it will directly convert to ext4 or format that the phone needed or do i need to anything after format the sd card??
The problem was with the camera that in the setting menu to save picture switch to sd-card but cannot it just shows the phone(in grey colour) can't select to sd-card.
formatting to et4 only affects the internal sd, not the external. if you're trying to put photos on the external but it's not working, that's why I asked if you tried formatting.
since you say you've done nothing, take it to sammy and they'll look at it since it's under warranty
You checked the second tab of the settings screen if the saving options is available or grey out at least ?

CM10 Flashed sdcard1 not mounting to PC.

I have been trying to fix this problem for a few hours now with not result.
Last night I went from an one click unbricked stock rom on my infuse to CM10.
Before CM10:
Normally when I plugged the phone into my computer two removable drives would be recognized by my computer but would not be accessible until I triggered the USB storage from the phone. When I do that I would have access to the 16gig internal SD card on the phone which is now sdcard0 and I would also have had access to the 32gig external SD card that I have in the expansion port.
Now:
My computer still has two removable drives pop up when the phone is plugged into the computer. However I can only get into the internal SD card on the phone. When I click the Removable Disk H icon for my external 32 gig SD or sdcard1 I get a please insert disk error.
To sum it up. I am able to transfer files back and forth between the two disks on the phone. I can access everything on each SD card. I still have an external_sd in the file list but it is now just a folder with a few files in it instead of the external sd cards contents being there on the stock rom. For some reason the phone isn't mounting the sdcard1 as its own removable drive when I connect USB storage to my computer.
I am going to continue looking for an answer on my own in addition to what ever help I receive here
Thanks for reading in advance.

Recovering an "Adopted" SD Card?

Hi folks,
I have an SD card here that I was using for Adopted Storage but I've managed to get it stuck as an "adopted" card and can't seem to get it back functioning as a normal SD card
Long story short... I wiped the device the card was in but I didn't "unadopt" the SD card before hand - as in set it back to portable mode. While the device could recognise there was an SD card afterwards, it couldn't prepare it for use and suggested a card error or something to that effect.
I figured I'd just pop it in my laptop (Windows 10 x64) and re-format it but this didn't work. Failing this, I decided I'd "nuke" it using Minitools Partition Wizard. While this program had better luck identifying the card, could display and delete the partitions on it and could run the Wipe task - it had no effect on the card... the partitions just re-appear after any attempt to nuke them!
Has anyone any ideas about how I can restore this card back to a normal FAT formated SD card?
Just to clarify - I don't care for the data that might be on it... I just want the card back usable
Thanks
Recovering an "Adopted" SD Card?
The best solution for now would be to plug the sd card into a phone with android 6.0 so that the phone can read the card and then while setting it up,you can format the card as "normal "(the part where it asks you whether to use the card as in adaptive storage or for accessing files).

When I try this, I get "Unsupported SanDisk SD card"
I'm then asked to select either Portable or Internal and then Erase & Format but neither work. They fail at 20% and the message "Unsupported SanDisk SD card" is shown again
I'm a bit stumped. I thought surely the encryption used on adopted cards was only to stop external reads. It seems in this case it's stopping me from writing to or formating the card
