[Boot Animation] Updated Toshiba TG01 Animated Bootscreen - TG01 Themes and Apps

Here is the final Toshiba TG01 Animated Bootscreen.
Animation is 85 frames, 100% dithered and is available in 2 flavours, for those that just want the standard 128 colour bootscreen, download Toshiba TG01 Animated Bootscreen 2.cab
For those that want the highest quality 256 colour boot animation, download Toshiba TG01 Animated Bootscreen 2 HQ.cab
I decided against sound, if you want sound you can add your own bootup sound.
If you are using a NON SENSE rom and you wish to have a animated start screen you really need to read this thread. Once you have got it working you can then install my bootscreen.
I am happy for people to use this in their rom releases as long as i am asked first, given credit for my work, and it is untouched. If you want animated.gif for your release i can give you the gif file in higher quality if you wish.
Previews are small to be attached, the bootscreen and welcomehead are obviously fullscreen and high quality!
If you appeciate my work please hit the thanks button!
enjoy!

Yep, probably because the rom didn't originally have a animation at start, I have uploaded a beta for you to try.
Animation requires a file called HTCAnimation.dll, i cannot just install this file on all roms because that may mess up the rom someone is using already.
Let me know how you get on with the beta cab

Thanks for testing, i will edit the cab and reupload it, i willl update my post when the updated cab is available
The problem is that roms that do not have animation at boot genreally cannot have animation at boot, but i will see if i can make it possible.

Great work!

I am having trouble finding a good startup sound, if anybody has one they would like me to consider for use in version 2 please attach here or if its too large, contact me via pm so i can get it from you.
Startup sounds have to be in WAV format

http://www.speedyshare.com/files/27902311/Turn_On.mp3
chica chumm chaaa

I see someone has voted for not making animation longer, can people post arguements for both
I can tell you what i think, there is room for longer animation, its possible to have maybe 85 frames in the animation, if i can find a good startup sound that will add to the experience.
Longer animation will obviously lead to one downside, a larger gif file, you cannot have such high quality gif file without a tradeoff somewhere, they are not efficient, 85 frames dithered gif file of 128 colours will give about a 3mb file.

well i think both slow and fast versions have their virtues and bad sides but what i would really like to know is how to make it work when i don;t have Rom with stock animated boot screen?

I would use a longer animation, maybe a much better quality one, if the gif won't be bigger than 20-40mb.
I have 130mb free because i install most things on the SD. In the internal memory i only install vital software like spb shell, audio/video player, etc.
The curent animation is cool, but the phone has its limits. The animations plays and at some point there should apear 3 tg01 on the screen. I "get" the first tg01, the second, but when "getting" the third tg01, the phone lags a bit. I don't know.. it may be because of my phone. I'm using a costom wm 6.5.5.

Thats odd, i have tried it with a few roms and it always playsback properly. If i extend animation beyond 85 frames then animation will not be complete. I have played with many settings within the gif files themselves.
I can change frame length, currently each frame is 8/100th's of a second, this makes it pretty much 12.5fps, i can change this but it really doesn't matter, in fact if i change it to be quicker, you can get playback artifacts.
Filesize i think is very important, this is just a startup animation, it is already a huge gif file, i can offer 2 versions, 256 colour and 128, that way people have the choice how much rom space is used, but from checking on a crt montor i cannot really see much difference between them, not enough to justify using almost double the rom space, a 256 colour dithered gif file for this animation could be over 5mb!
Sadly due to the filesize i cannot really squeeze more than 85 fps in because it takes quite some time for the file to be loaded into memory to begin with, which shortens how long the animation can be.

I solved my problem. Using "Advance config" app i changed the startup animation speed from 80 to 62. Now it is fine.

ROMs that don't use HTC Sense lack a few dll files and registry entries needed to use animated bootscreens.
There is a solution, read this thread and experiment, when you get a animated bootscreen working, you can then install my bootscreen.

It's been out for a while, the slide uses a SWF. You must first load WA2 and WAD then load the slide program. And im pretty sure it does goes back to the slide after the device goes into hibernate. I'm sticking with the WAlite and WAD. I really like the original WM6 look and feel.

To clarify a little, though I have been using the slide for a while now, the slide program does not require WA or WAD to be ran, you copy the lock folder to anywhere on ppc, and then run the slide.exe program, and you may also change the background of the wallpaper to any image in bmp format by renaming it to wallpaper.bmp and also, the program does not automatically run after comming from standy, you have to activate the program by running the .exe file, or by assigning to hardware button as for right now. Not sure of anyway to have an app to auto run after comming from standbu, hopefully someone knows.
Heres a screeny of my slider.....and yes it actually slides across...

My 5cents
I have gotten the slider program to work via SkTools (memmaid will work too) and made a notification to run the program coming out of a wake up. However currently I have found this extremely buggy... ie sometimes the program runs multiple times when coming out of standby and sometimes causes an error..
My main use was to replace the now screen from mobile shell with this, seeing as that was my favorite part of mobile shell. If anyone knows of a program better for this, or has had better experience with getting the slider to work in wm6 out of standby, please let me know.

To have it run after you come out of standby, you need to add a "Notification Queue" entry for the slide.exe file with the WHEN setting of " The Device woke up"
You can add entries for any system state changes to the notification queue to run any program.

[Theme] VistaMobile VGA (AND NOW QVGA!) with Extras released!

Hey guys,
I posted a little teaser for my skin/theme, and I've got some pretty positive feedback/lots of traffic to my site. I have now released the theme in it's entirety, and it is available on my site for which you can find the link at the bottom of this post.
Lots of time and development have been put into creating this, and I couldn't have done it without the majority of graphics from Corleno. Thanks to him for allowing me to 'remix' his Wisbar Advance theme, "Vista Pocket".
Anyways, take a look at the pics below, and find a link to the download at my site. Sorry I did not post the actual files here, but posting it on my own site will allow me to update the theme easily if need be, and people from many other sites can comment on it there too. I really hope you enjoy this, as it took me much longer than it should have! (I'm not surprised, because I'm a pixel-perfectionist)

Hey man, glad you enjoy the theme. You actually need both of the software titles that you mentioned above. "Wisbar Advance (WA)" AND "Wisbar Advance Desktop (WAD)". That version of WAD should give you no problems, however I built and test this theme only on WA v2, and not the newest v3. I'm sure that it will work in v3, since I don't believe anything major has changed, however I cannot guarantee that since I only tested it with v2.
If you do try out v3, please let us know how it works.
Thanks!

Hi /b/-TarD,
That's actually a great question you ask. I have never had any memory issues with my Uni while running this theme. I also just checked my current memory status after a fresh reboot, and "DesktopApp.exe" (Wisbar Advance Desktop) is using 2.56mb of RAM, while "wisbaradv2.exe" (Wisbar Advance) is using 303kb of RAM.
This makes sense to me because the WAD theme is much more detailed and has larger graphics than the WA skin. For me, its worth sacrificing 2.9mb of RAM to run this theme set. I hope you'll agree too
Let me know if you do run into any issues with RAM usage, but I can tell you that everything works fine for me!
this is a great skin however i have had a few problems, not sure if it is the skin or my setings, i am using it on a SPV M5000 running WAD and WA2, not had issues with other sking but my machine keeps on "freezing" after a short while and the only way to respore it is to so a soft reset and load the skin up again. WAD and WA2 are installed to my SD card, dont think that that is the problem though

Hey Hooperman, I would have personally installed WA + WAD to the Main Memory and NOT the Storage Card. I know this requires a fair bit of free space in the Main Memory, but WA + WAD will definitely respond faster and keep running optimally.
My theme has been downloaded a sh*tload of times, and I haven't heard anyone else with your problems, so I would think that having your WA/WAD on the Storage Card is definitely the issue.
If you have the space, try installing WA/WAD to the Main Memory and let us know how it goes...
Hope this helps!

Hi azzkicker, I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. It's quite unfortunate that the WAD skin is not working for you. Not to single you out, but no one else has contacted me with the issues you are having, which leads me to believe that you just haven't copied the folder structures properly.
Read my blog post again here, and make sure that you copy each of the files/folders EXACTLY where I described in that post.

Hey there kcguy,
First off, let me say that I have no problem with you creating a QVGA version of my theme. I just request that you keep all graphics as high-quality as you can, so that the theme doesn't lose it's visual appeal.
Also, please just send me a private message before you release the theme, so that we can ensure that everyone who participated in it's development is credited properly. I can also (and prefer to) host the QVGA version for you on my protogenLabs.com website.
Let me know how it's coming along, and if the above sounds good to you. Looking forward to seeing your work!
-scar
not a problem
scar45,
I didn't modify any of your graphics, only edited the sizes to fit the QVGA format. I'd be happy to send it to you so you can release it. That is the way it should be, since a lot of effort went into the design.
I have modified the landscape files also, but have had no success getting it to display when I'm in landscape mode. My wizard switches from portrait to landscape when you slide the qwerty out. Any ideas why it won't display? Only displays the default wisbar desktop theme in landscape, but instantly goes back to your theme when I close the keyboard and go back to portrait mode.
kcguy, can you post your qvga format? I would like to try this on my HTC hermes. Thanks.

hey kcguy,
Thanks for the effort you've put into making a QVGA version of my theme. I'm not sure why the landscape mode won't work, as I didn't run into the same problem as you. What I might suggest is to put the device in landscape mode, then try to re-select the landscape version of the theme, and hopefully it will stick (vistaMobile_L_(Q)VGA).
Anyways, let me know when you've completed the theme, and please send this to no one else but myself first, and following that, I will package it up for download and host it on my site.
Hope it's still coming along nicely!
-scar
It's complete
Hey scar45,
I don't know what the issue is with the landscape mode, but I have a work- around, if anybody else has the same issue. On my wizard, I had to open the landscape QVGA while in portrait mode on my phone as well as WAD. I then rotated the screne 90 deg. to the right so it displayed properly, opened my qwerty which switched the device to landscape mode, and no more problems. When you receive the zip file back, you'll notice that p_QVGA now shows two pages, 0 & 1 which I assume is because I opened the L_QVGA in portrait mode, but for whatever reason, it now works perfectly. I am trying to send you the files as we speak so you can take a look and decide if you want to release them. Thanks for the awesome theme!

Heya soalle,
At this point, I would say that this theme is not possible to use on a Smartphone QVGA device. The main core of the theme is based on Wisbar Advance/Wisbar Advance Desktop, and I don't believe that this program is available for the Smartphone version of Windows Mobile.
I wish there was a way that I could develop it for that, but unfortunately there isn't at this point in time.
I will be releasing kcguy's QVGA version of my theme for PocketPCs, so if you obtain one of those devices (or better yet, a VGA PPC), then you would be able to use this theme set.
Keep an eye out on this post though, and if anyone finds a way to make this theme usable on a Smartphone QVGA device, it will surely be posted here.
Thanks!

A LOT of people had been asking for this version after I released the original, so after some time, and some help from kcguy, I was able to rewrite the theme to support QVGA devices.
I have tested it out on my QVGA Pocket PC Emulator, and it seemed to work perfectly fine. If anyone else runs into any issues, please post them in this thread, and I'll do my best to address them as soon as I possibly can. You might get a quicker response if you post an actual comment to my protogenLabs site where the file is hosted.
You can grab the actual .zip file here:
protogenLabs.com - VistaMobile PocketPC VGA and QVGA theme finally completed!
Anyways, Merry Xmas to all, and I hope you enjoy!

Keep Manila2D, Just Change Themes !

I think the next best thing to having a stable and speedy ROM is the ability to change the OS theme every once in a while, or frequently, which makes it very important to have a collection of themes on hand. You would need of course the M2DC ( customizer ) to add the theme of choice.
before you start changing themes, you need to back up your ROM Theme. This is very important. to do so, open M2DC and in "restore" tab, click on "backup M2D Theme" just in case you need to go back to your original Theme.
I have compiled some of the nicest themes around, herewith. After downloading or saving them on your PC, you would need to change the theme file extension name of every theme you saved from zip to m2dct. This is very important, ie.. CleanClock_TWolf.zip becomes CleanClock_TWolf.m2dct .
Copy those themes on your SD card in a separate folder. Open M2DC and in "themes" click on "add" then start adding the themes one by one to your Manila Customizer Theme folder. You will be able to see how these themes look like on the Theme window of M2DC.
During the theme being applied a pop up window asks you if you are going to keep/or change the original icons, tabs and weather screen. very important to keep the weather screen unchanged. ( Check mark the first line box ).
This will help you not get bored with your phone and will look like you have a new ROM every time you install a new theme.
i know this is redundant thread, however, I felt there are a lot of noobs here now and they are flashing Roms right and left, just because they see the screen shots of the cooked ROM. this I hope will reduce the flashing errors and the ForNoGoodReason.
I have no objection if someone wants to take a task upon himself or herself to upload screen shots of those themes.
ps.... All Credits go to the creators of these themes.
more themes to upload to your device.
Here you go... more themes....
I tried to upload more themes, but the server keeps kicking me out... I hope that gives you a good start on customizing the way your kaiser looks.

Very good topic albeit that M2DC thread and denco7's HTC thread have the relevant info.
About above quote not important as M2DC supports .zip or .m2dct so no need to change the extension.
Just make sure them theme is not a .zip'd .m2dct.

iPhone by Lepsyfou Hung?
asfoor,
I tried iphone_by Lepsyfou and it always hung when I slide to SMS page on M2D. Even removing M2D from Today Setting won't close it and the only way is to SR. Other functions are ok though .. I suspected something is wrong with the image files. Do you mind testing and confirming?

Chris,
lepsyfou's theme includes two widgets that our standard M2D can not support unless you add them. I believe he added "Phone" and "Nav" tabs. You will have glitches with his theme for sure unless you modify the M2d registry and add the strings for widget he included. I am sorry I do not have time to test it fully, but I believe thats what is causing your freeze, not the SMS. It will freeze even when you slide to start Google.
There is another iPhone Theme that has the widget that are mapped to our M2D's and will not cause the freeze.
interesting thread.Thx guys
Asfoor,
I even tried copying manually just the image files, thinking it will simply replace the existing files, and the image will change. It always stuck on SMS (whenever I swipe to highlight SMS). It runs well for other tabs that currently we have, except for SMS ..
All done while Manila is disabled.I suspected the image file (png) is corrupted somehow, though, but will check when I have time.
Thanks for the tips though. I'll try again by removing the unused files, and run it through M2DC.

Thanx matrix for taking the time to post the images of the themes. I am experimenting with ThrottleLauncher_1.0_RC1 that integrates 3D without using too much resources. If someone wants the Cab file to test, here it is. Please post your results and images if you have time.
Remember to disable HTCHome or Manila prior to installing. After Install you can only run one theme or OS. This is the latest from Throttle Launcher.
Here is the direct link to Throttle Launcher website. The cab file I posted above is of the most recent version of TL, and is a non-beta and free to the users.
http://www.throttlelauncher.com/portal/downloads/56-tlauncher/119-10rc1release
The License is valid till May 12, 2009. A lifetime License is offered by APBilbo for a nominal donation of $1.00 ... Of course, larger donation is greatly appreciated by APBilbo; He has continuously supported our Kaiser firmware and software development and pioneered very appreciated OS enhancement all of us are enjoying everyday.

You are aware that Manila2D is a derivative of Throttle Launcher, which is a depiction of SPB Shell, right? HTC decided to adopt TL but wanted to change the name to Manila when the OS was first introduced to HTC Diamond.
There is one issue with the current release of TL RC1, and I am sure it has to do with other 3rd party programs. It will be resolved with a fix very soon.
The new SPB Shell V3.0 is by far more advanced than the current Manila3D, and offers a sophisticated/advanced touchFlo features iPhone dreams of having. If you can, give it a try and see what I am talking about. Maybe TL will follow the footsteps of SPB which in turn gets adapted by HTC R&D.

Hi asfoor!
glad you're experimenting with TL . Let me know if you have any doubts or problems... About your comment about licensing, as you've said the CAB file includes a license valid until 12 May, but users will always be able to download as much licenses as they want for free at www.throttlelauncher.com/keygen . So there's not time limit on how long you can use ThrottleLauncher for free, just you've to visit the web once a month (licenses last for that long). Also I'm sending lifetime licenses for users helping with themes and supporting TL (even with 1$ donations)....
Thanks for your interest!!

[Theme] Clear - Built on Damage 2.1 (3-28-10)

Special thx to Damage and his unnamed leak for the official 2.1 release! VVM was business-necessary for me (ability to forward voicemails).
This is a Port of Ratcom's GSM version; all credit goes to him. Those interested in theme development, look up Ratcom and check his sig.
(3-28-10) Rosie no longer includes buttons; instead they're located under Framework in com.htc.resources.apk. So editing Rosie requires you to update both these APKs. Therefore they're both in the ZIP, which makes for a big file.

This is the theme I personally use and plan to keep it up-to-date for as long as Flipz wants to pump out updates.
I do have a day job though
Can you try to port over a smaller home like in the beautiful home app(4x1 instead of 4x2)
sweet, thanks a million.
quick question, did this change?
You're referring to this:
Copied from this post in the GSM themes:
adb remount
adb shell
su
rm -R system/etc/lockscreen/port
Whatever lockscreen you have will now show directly on top of your home screen.

installed fresh 1 and i still have the wallpaper i set for the background, installed the clear theme as well. tried this command and it keeps saying file or directory doesn't exist.
just sucks that the clear notify makes you lose the new task bar and puts the old one back on.
I don't understand the point of the clear lock screen included here since Flip put out lock removal patch. I'm not complaining, just curious of the difference. And since the lock screen is totally transparent with Fresh 1.0 + delock, is there a way to remove the clock from the lock screen since a lot of people use the HTC Clock widget anyway?
I'm using the keyboard, widgets and buttons. I really like how just the word Phone and just the visible parts of the other two buttons light up now, that's a really nice touch. I'd use the clear notification but I like the new taskbar icons, if there's a way to get both the clear notification pane and the new icons I'd use it. Again, I love your work!
Amazing JOB!! Really love it. Thank you a lot for this!!

I've tried to split everything out as much as possible, but with ZIP updates, you update the entire APK, not bits and pieces. In this case, both the notifications and taskbar graphics are located in the same APK (framework-res). So it's all or nothing.
All Clear downloads are labeled with the APK it replaces to help the community know what it is the ZIP is actually changing.
I haven't even looked for it yet, but I'm guessing Tsowen's taskbar is a GSM theme that Flipz started to port over. I also know Flipz needs a break and mentioned something about working in the kitchen. If it is a port, I don't mind looking at it, but it would have to wait 'till next week, as things get BUSY starting today.

The difference: this is for those who have DE-Freshed. This lockscreen offers a separate lockscreen wallpaper that has no arc or other graphics on it, just your wireless carrier and the time. You don't see your homescreen or HTC Clock widget at all.
As for removing the clock, well, I have the habit of giving out almost-truths Then Flipz yells at me and sets everyone straight. I'll try to explain with what I think I currently know, and then the pros will (hopefully) come by and tell you how it really works.
Visuals are controlled by binary XML files within an APK. You can't just open and edit them, they're not regular XML. There's a java "printer" that will convert them to TXT so that they can be edited, but there's no known way to re-package them again. Unless you're editing source code not to look for certain files, you can't just delete XML files either.
What that means for us - Removing the clock would be a specific feature a ROM cooker would have to change the source code for. That's waaaay past what a simple graphics hobby jockey like myself is capable of
I really like how just the word Phone and just the visible parts of the other two buttons light up now, that's a really nice touch.

Glad you like it! The original Clear-button Rosie was a quick hack-job to remove the "at rest" buttons. I think these hold true to the theme much better.

Flipz corrected me when I quoted that from the GSM theme forum. There's a backup wallpaper as well, so to "remove" your lock screen to view the homescreen beneath takes a bit more work.
As per my OP, I would like to look into this, as there seem to be enough people interested. Ideally there would be a ZIP update package that modifies things to the point that you'd be able to flash Evil's lockscreen (or whatever) and still see your homescreen beneath. I'd like to think this is possible, but that requires time to play around

OK, that's cool. I'd actually been wanting to wipe my phone and start from scratch so I went ahead and ruu'd back and started over. Installed fresh 1 and your clears and got the clear, no background lockscreen.
Thanks for your work.
hmm... just wondering...
but what happened to the cool selection icon/picture?
like, when you scroll over something or select a program, in regular android it was a green square/rectangle.
but in the last clear theme for fresh .7, it was like, a fading circle
did you take that out? :O
oh, and btw, i LOVE this theme. thanks sooo much for putting it on fresh 1.0 so fast!
I'm not sure who to ask this but somewhere between running .6 fresh and .7 clears, and the 1 fresh with 1 clears, I lost a screen animation.
I was running .6 fresh with the original ratcom's clears and the other optimization pack, then when the .7 clears were made, i put that on and afterwards I had an animation where it instead of "flashing" between screens, it would "go into" the screen. After flashing the fresh 1 and the new clears, the animation is gone. But what little I know about the themes, I wouldn't think they would have any effect on the animations, that should be in the rom, correct? But it's weird that they didn't change until I put the .7 clears over the .6 fresh rom.
Edit: nevermind, I figured it out, the transition animation speed was turned off.

do you think you could repackage that in? i really liked it, it was a nice additional touch that really blended in with the theme and it looked good too.
thanks for all your work!
I'm sorry if this has been answered already:
Fresh 1.0, used the clear lock .zip and thought it was totally cool. I was playing with using a lock paper again and thought I could just run the .zip again to remove a lockscreen paper but it didn't work, my last lockscreen image is still there. There is not a "lockscreen" folder in /system/etc/
Any advice on how I can get back to having an invisible lockscreen image?
Thanks
*edit - again, I'm sorry if this has been covered. I just tried running delock_1.0.zip again with no result. I am guessing the invisible lock screen is part of fresh itself...
*edit #2 - I just reread this thread and realized how unobservant I am. A week ago I had zero exposure to Android, my head hurts from learning so much in such a short time. Thank you all for your work and patience with the noobs. I think its time I go hit a few "donate" buttons...
There's a few issues on the Fresh 1.0 topic that reference this, and Flipz posted about it directly. It appears that if you had your own wallpaper, it caches it away someplace. Flipz plans on addressing it in the future.
I was hoping to look at the lockscreen stuff but haven't had the time yet. 'Tis the season for a bazillion things going on.

You're not kidding! This may sound a little over dramatic but my perception of Android so far is it's revolutionary. I am absolutely amazed by what these devices are capable of.
Thanks again guys!
How do you install these? I just rooted and installed Fresh on my Hero, but not sure how to install these themes. Do I boot into recovery and apply from SD card?
Yup, just like a ROM. Save the ZIP on your sdcard, then boot to recovery: "Choose ZIP" and confirm.
I don't think we've had any issues with 1.0, but it should go without saying to do your Nandroid backups first!

If you mean the CHT Notifications its quite simple
The 4 Notifications are png files with the names:
CHT_messages
CHT_missedcalls
CHT_voicemail
CHT_email
All of them are 128x128 pixels and if you want to make your own, just create them with this dimensions, give them the names I told you and copy to windows directory
Assuming that I am right and you mean the Notifications you would mean the Bubble with the number inside, right?
If you want to edit that you would need to have these two manila files:
7fc6de76_manila
41bcf042_manila
within these files there is a 64x64 pixels png image with the bubble or whatever inside
This is the background file on which the number of messages etc will be displayed.
Hope I got you right And if so, that was of help for you

did you back up your original manila file png? I usually use that as a template.
answer to your question..image could be any size within the bounds of the canvas (with that being said canvas needs to be transparent)
im not personally familiar with the file your trying to edit. but keep in mind on most of those manila images don't adhere to the entire size of the canvas because of the dimension needs.
hope that made sense.
