[Q] Gmail theme - General Questions and Answers

I am sorry if these questions have been asked before. I am brand new to rooting and flashing roms.
I am currently running Mikfroyo version 4.5. I love the theming that has been done to the android market and the gmail app.
So I lost the theme for the android market randomly, is there anyway to restore this without reflashing everything?
Second, there is an update to the gmail app, version 2.3.4, while mikfroyo comes with a themed 2.3.2. If I update the gmail app, I loose the theming. Is there anyway to update and keep the theming, or do I have to wait tell the next release of the rom?
As an extra question, where do I get the chogardjr Blue Theme? If i click the link in the Mikfroyo post, I get denied the download.
Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

thank you so much

The market probably updated itself. You should be able to go into settings > applications > manage applications > all, find the market & uninstall updates.
EDIT: And some actions like posting in development & downloading certain things require at least 10 (non-spam) posts. Just answer some questions & say thanks a couple times and you'll be there soon.

Step by Step Guide / questions installing ROMS / nk02's ION Multi5 [board 32b]

Hi,
Ive heard so many possitive comments on the new ROMS including nk02's ION Multi5 [board 32b] it and im really looking forward to using them but i have quite a few questions regarding doing so.....
Can the standard built in ROM be reverted with the settings and apps?
Does it delete all of your current contacts/pictures and apps?
lastly would it be possible to please post a step by step guide on how to install roms / nk02's ION Multi5 [board 32b]onto the HTC Magic google/Vodafone edition.
Ive used this forum when i owned a Omnia and its extremely helpful and the guides are very clear and informative. But the Android things have left me scratching my head.
Thank you for your time!! ;-)
here ya go buddy this is one helpful thread which helped me get everything i needed to root my magic kudos to writers and devs
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529062
thats wicked man, thank you
Will i lose my current apps and contacts/Vodafone live settings doing this?
thanks
Yes since you have to do a wipe before flashing the new ROM. However after you sign in to your Google account, you could re-sync your contacts and re-install the apps.
Try this guide mate http://www.karrderized.com/romguide/
So just to confirm, if i install a new rom when i sign back in with my gmail account all my paid for apps will be available for download again.....incl Copilot.... i dont want to have to pay £25-00 again
Regards Craig
yes thats it as soon as you enter your email again your contacts and that will be synced back and your paid apps will be available for download again

[Q] Factory Reset Data?

I bought my g tablet in late November and as a newbie I managed to get it to the point that it ran flash, played angry birds and had the Google market from the great help I found on these threads. I ran out of free time to tweak it and muddle through the technical speak in the threads so now I am unsure if I can update the TnT version or if I should factory reset and follow one of the great newbie threads on this site to update since I can't remember exactly what I did to get where I am with it. Please be gentle- I know I'm a spaz and should have paid more attention to the steps I took originally.

Ok u r running the latest stock version. A new version 3991 is in testing now and may be out soon. A major change with many of the changes in roebeets enhancement pack. I would just wait a few days.
Ok- Thanks so much for your help!
brandyc,
I agree. If your time and memory are limited -- and your G-Tablet is working well -- leave well enough alone.
All the current ROMs have their unique features, but in the end there is getting to be less and less difference in the alternate ROMs and stock. It's fun to play, but not necessary!
I have two tablets -- one on TNT Lite 5.0.1 and one stock 3991. Both work great!

Hello
It's better that you uninstal app with Root Uninstaller !
Search it on the market, I can set a link here, I am to new :/
Here you go.
This app won't allow you to delete important system apps like Android System/Calendar/Clock/Contacts and so on (marked with red), so you're safe with this app.
POST SPAM!
thanks all

Hello, I am new to the smartphone world and I have been reading threads on here for a few days and decided to join since I got a infuse. I have ATT. and I dont understand how to download themes from this site to my phone. I am sorry if this has been asked before but I have no idea how this thing even works. Its funny when the Iphone came out I was all over it and loved it and then switched to a blackberry, now with this phone I feel like I am in the dark. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

SENT FROM MY AEON ROCKIN INFUSE
Thank you. I read that and I still have no idea what that stuff is. I just want a different theme, and I thought I could find it in the market but its only wallpapers. or am I missing something?
If your just wanting a theme download go launcher from the play store and then download themes for it.
In market/Google Play download Go launcher or AWD launcher to change main themes. I prefer AWD myself more things to tweek in settings. Once downloaded you can search the market for premade themes or create your own with a plugin for Go
If you want to change things like contact themes or dialers, I use Go contacts Ex. Same for SMS layout. Go has a Go SMS Ex and Go keyboard. All ive metioned are fully customizable and free. But some premade themes are pay
Hope this helps to get you started

Another Idea ...this is what I did before taking the plunge into these awesome custom ROMs,
YOUTUBE, do a search there for Samsung Infuse and themes for the android 2.3, you can get a great idea and some videos post the links to the market...
Just a idea, that's what I did...
BTW welcome....
Short Explanation
I'll try to keep this simple since I was a newbie recently lol
ROM - basically all the software on your phone, your entire OS, since you have ATT, you have:
stock ROM (unchanged), Android 2.2 Froyo (OS name)
Kernel - the drivers to make the hardware and software click, you have:
stock kernel (unchanged)
Developers edit stock ROMS and tweak them and release them for eveyone to use. Often, they release themes for them. To change your ROM, you have to:
-root (get administrative access, jailbreak for Android)
-get recovery (where you can flash ROMS, kernels and stuff) (flashing is another way to say installing)
-download a ROM, follow instructions and flash (install)
-download a theme FOR THAT ROM, follow instructions and flash (install)
If im missing something, let me know people thnkz

Themes
I have had very good results with the GO EX Launcher. There are all kinds of add-ons and themes you can get for free (tons more paid). You can also download an app called Zedge that will help you select wallpapers, sounds, and ringtones for free to finish it off. Enjoy!

[Q] Unsure about the ROM

Hi,
I have Froyo installed on my Galaxy 3 right now but it crashes too often and is slow, it also have lots of "Orange" apps and theming, was installed a year go maybe.
I checked this sticky post, but i'm completely new to the Android scene so I'm not sure which of the available ROMS is the most stable and fast for daily use. I guess ICS and gingerbread are out of the question, so can someone please suggest the best Froyo ROM.
Thanks
here you can read some suggestions:
