[Q] Unsure about the ROM - Galaxy 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have Froyo installed on my Galaxy 3 right now but it crashes too often and is slow, it also have lots of "Orange" apps and theming, was installed a year go maybe.
I checked this sticky post, but i'm completely new to the Android scene so I'm not sure which of the available ROMS is the most stable and fast for daily use. I guess ICS and gingerbread are out of the question, so can someone please suggest the best Froyo ROM.
Thanks

here you can read some suggestions:

I hate to ask the stooopid questions... but which one?

Hello all,
I am currently running the Phoenix on my Tilt. It is stable but am thinking about running other ROMs just to try them out, and this got me thinking.
What ROM are you running?
I would like a fast, stable, and non bloOOOted ROM.
What do you recommend?
I would recommend that you flash flash and flash untill you find the ROM you want as everyone will have different ideas on to which is really a question that reads "Best ROM?" to which is against forum rules, you can see what people use from sigs and in the end the ROM you will stick to will be personal choice...........
Thread closed as per Forum announcement - http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=378
There is no best ROM, just try the ones you like you. I have no idea what ROM's best for you

Please can we have a thread for beginners (who are wanting to learn) to Install Roms

Hello everyone,
Sorry for not understanding but i am new to this and definitely willing to learn, Id like to know what is the best Hero Rom (smoothest with the most things working) and if once i have installed it, is it possible to go back to my normal rom if i dont like it.
Id like to know how to download apps such as Apps2SD and themes such as the good ones on here (is a special rom needed or a certain rom ?)
Sorry for all the questions but please help i am willing to make a dontation to somebody who can help me.
Thanks Everyone
This is a place for discussion for more people who are experienced, thats why its called "development" as for themes those are under the "themes" section.....
if your looking for n00b resources for full on n00bs please don't post annoying threads here. Learn to look **** up on google and in under 10 seconds you would have found
http://theunlockr.com/category/howto/android_how_tos/
for how to root, one click rom install, and how to restore back to factory. Or even above your own damn post there are n00b resrouces.
as for ROMs this is the DEVELOPMENT section. So people need to stop asking for a perfect rom. Use cyanogen stable roms if you want stablility. If not ROMs come out every 2-3 days for evil and every couple weeks for other ROMs. They are NOT stable
Qtek=fastest most stable does not work on most MT3G (this is believed to be kernel issues with 2.7xxxx)
Evil= 50/50 depending on his builds, he likes to f* stuff up alot and patch within a few hours
cyanogen 4.1.11.1=android 1.6 AOSP(android open source project)

I did do a search and i did find that site although since i am such a noob i dint even know what rooting my Magic was for :/.
Could you tell me what rooting is for ? eg if i root my device once does that mean i can use all the stuff you guys are uploading eg just put a theme on it straight away?
Cheers James
rooting your phone gives you controll of the / files of yoru phone. It lets you install roms and such. i suggest looking at the latest video of rooting your magic and the video of how to install a rom. it'll put you right at par with where alot of users on this forum are at. only like 15 mins of video too.

Best Rom

title says it all really, i've tried a few roms on my kaiser (unlocked from orange now on o2).
what i'm looking for is the best rated rom to put on for everyday use.
Have tried:
Hyperdragon IV Mega - found it too unresponsive (probably due to wm6.5 not designed for it)
Stylez Black - Generally ok, clock issues on homepage
Android (from here) - Wouldn't load, kept crashing during loading
someone please help as there are far too many roms to download and try em all lol
Well il quote Mr stylez here, every rom has a different flava and everybody has there own needs so all u can do is experiment and find one that works for u, as long as you have hardspl u shouldnt have a problem.oh by the way this isnt the place to ask this as it has nothing to do with rom development.
There aren't even that many to try. Most of the roms that are up to date are on page 1.
If you have bug reports for roms, post them on the appropriate rom development thread. Complaining on about the bugs here helps no one.
Go read the rules of the forum.
As other have posted, issues go in ROM threads & there is no best ROM flash and find the one you find best.

[Q] Easy root 2.1 or 2.2

Does anyone have an easy root or universal root for Cellular South htc hero if not can one be done? Would really appreciate it very much if possible. Thanks in advance.
First off you are in the wrong section as there is a Q&A section for things such as this.
Second, there is a nice thread that explains everything as well as linking you to all the necessary files that you need to download. That thread can be found here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581869 . If you have any questions feel free to pm me as I check them frequently. Good luck to you, I have been on froyo 2.2 cyanogenmod 6 nightlies with my cell south hero, and i love it. So fast and none of the lag issues found on our stock 2.1 rom
Thanks for leading me in the right direction

can u please explain the nightlies to me or point me in the best direction to understand them. ive heard of them before and never know what they are. thanks in advanced
the nightlies are all of the updates to cm6 that are made throughout the day. To me these are more stable than the CM6.0.0 stable as lots of changes have been made between it's release and the latest nightlies. I take about fifteen mins every night hopping on and downloading the newest nightly. Sometimes the newest nightly is just a repeat of the night before but sometimes there are changes. All of these can be flashed over the last ones without wiping due to the same build. That way you can actually make settings one time and never have to worry about them after flashing a new nightly. I would also suggest downloading Decad3nce's BFS kernel and keep it updated as new releases are out. It must be flashed after each new nightly in order to remain in place.

[Q] Akop

I Can't post in the development section to ask for this!
Any one Tried Akop Build 5 (24-10-2012) on smultron?
some people on the orginal thread are saying it is slow.
Did they fix that?
I already Downloaded the rom but can't try it now and switch between the kernels (I'm on hasa miui ics)
as I'm going to go to the country side in few hours and my time is critical.
Speedy reply will be appreciated
