i havent tried installing the honeycomb music player so im not sure
You must have root, then go in and delete the stock music apk on your phone before installing the honeycomb music player. I actually just did this to mine and its pretty slick

I have a branded Galaxy S with no Android market. I've found 3 different Vending.apks, version 1.665, 1.668, 1.713. I tried to install them using adb install. 1.7133 returns "unexpected exception". Other two install successfully but they both crash when click Install an app. When I go back to app page it says Starting download and gets stuck there (Market app is not frozen). Am I missing a step for manually installing market? Do I have to do anything like adb push Vending.apk /system/app/?
Have you tried flashing a gapps.apk?
have you tried using appbrain and their corrosponding apps like their installer?

AFAIK appbrain uses default market app to download. I don't have any market app that's the problem..

I don't know what gapps.apk is. Could you elaborate please?
Do you mean Vending.apk from the gapps-passion-EPE54B-signed.zip of the Cyanogenmod 5?
Btw I'm using:
pad: jvjh1
phone: jxjg2
csc: trcjh2
Did the same vending.apk installation on a HTC legend "Middle East Version" which also came with no Market and no sucess, i do have the same problem..."crashing at installation"
and about gapps, it's not an apk but rather a flashable content that require rooted device and since i don't wanna root this phone i really didn't figure it out so far. so i'm still waiting for a solution.
Ok. The gapps.apk I know of you can find on rom manager. I think you can DL rom manager straight from their website and install using something like astro file manager. Cyanogen can't release a rom with the Google apps for copyright reasons so they offer it as a seperate download. I'm assuming you can find it on the cyanogenmod site. Otherwise try flashing a stock image through rom manager if they have one for the galaxy x. How did it not come with a market?
Hi. I posted a reply for your idea for my problem but got no reply from you, I guess the thread got lost beneath all the other threads. Could you please give me any ideas about this:

Hi everyone,
does anyone happen to have a GTalk apk they can post. Gtalk does not show up on the market place and i have tried downloaded other apks for the xoom and nothing works on my rooted Asus using prime 1.7
Thx.
Gtalk should be part of the ROM. You don't have a "Talk" in the app drawer?
here it is if you still need it
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16959871/Talk.apk

It's a system app. Use ADB push it to system/app
but if you're using Prime 1.7 the Talk should already be there.
Ok, i just installed root explorer and i went to the sytem/app folder and found the talk.apk, uninstalled the old one and it works! thanks again..

Hi guys,
I tried installing "Gameboid" on my Galaxy Player 4.0 US version, but when i hit "install" after the processing was done, it said "Application Not Installed." By the way, Gameboid is not an app from Google Play. I downloaded the app from their official website. After that, I tried again downloading an ".apk" file from 4shared but again, it said the same thing.. do you guys have any idea of how to fix this??
this is only happening on this app... I downloaded many other apps from the internet and the all worked fine except for this.
Hope you guys reply!
PS. do you guys know if there is an ICS port for the Galaxy Player 4.0 yet?
do you have an older version of gameboid already installed? if so, remove it first, then try reinstalling.
have tried.

Sorry for the LATE reply and thanks for the idea. But unfortunately it didn't work. Gameboid is an app which you find off the internet, it is not in Google Play. This is what I did.
1) Installed the .apk from google on the player, not from the official website.
2) Installed the app from the official website
3) Installed the app from the official website and copied to sd and tried to run from there.
I have tried all three things and NONE of them have worked. It is not an incompatibility issue because my friend also has the app running on his Galaxy Player 4.0. And YES I do have the latest version of Gameboid
Uninstall whichever version you have on your phone right now, wipe dalvik cache, and then re-install
I'm running Cwm-GB-2.3.6-Octane-V3.0 XPLOD NO CIQ on my Galaxy S 4G, it's Gingerbread but runs ICS in the background or something(themed like ICS but is technically GB). I deleted my system music player app (ICS themed) because I couldn't download the new Google Play music app. It was saying "application already installed". I tried to install Google play music player on the market, no go. I then tried manually installing an .apk file for Google play music, no dice either. I get an "Application not installed' message. I've attempted this with several apps, mostly root browsers and an .apk installer. I've tried running it temporarily unrooted, changed permissions on the .apk, rebooted, r/r SD card, there's no .srec file in the sd card to delete either. Every time I try to download off the market or install an apk I get an "application already exists" or "application not installed" error message. I've also tried manually installing a stock music player apk I found. Any tips?
Hi, since the Oreo update I can't find the "Unknown sources" to install APK's freely. I'ts not under "Lock Screen and Security", and I have enabled Chrome in "Applications/Special Access/Install other apps" and I'm trying to install apps from the "Downloads" section of chrome, but it dosn't work this way either.
I was trying to install the Pixel Launcher as seen from here: https://theunlockr.com/2018/03/13/make-samsung-galaxy-s9-look-like-stock-android/
But everytime I try it I get the "<!> Application not installed".
I don't know exactly what says in english, I'm using my phone in spanish.
Any ideas? Thanks!
If you go to Settings-Apps-3 Dots-Special Access-Install Unknown Apps.
They've moved it so only certain apps can install unknown apps
Please help how to fix this problem. This doesn't work, I tried installing Accuweather pro several times. I have the app saved to my Google Drive, I click on the app and I see something called 'Staging App' and then I get this alert ' There was a problem parsing the package'. I currently had an older version of Accuweather pro installed and working fine. I decided to remove the old version and then reinstall it and I received the same alert. FYI the old Accuweather app was installed before the Oreo update.

Have you tried downloading your APP file from Google Drive to your phone then opening the copy on your phone, that should install the .apk
Go to settings on the phone >> apps >> 3 vertical dots at the top right corner >> special access >> install unknown apps >> and there enable the permission from where you are trying to download it.
All thank you,
I found out that you now have to download the app to your phone. Google Drive does not allow you to download and manually install .
Dear sir/madam,
Following your answer, in specific this part, "They've moved it so only certain apps can install unknown apps", perhaps someone could help me out. I use the Firefox Focus browser and this app doesn't show up in the list of apps that are allowed to install unknown apps.
* Does this mean Firefox Focus can't install apps from unknown apps, since it's not on the list?
* And perhaps we can conclude from that it will never be allowed to do so?
* Or would this app not be on this list, because I've never tried installing anything using this browser?
I guess the real question would be, what populates this list?
I hope to hear from you, thanks in advance, all the best.
Form what I've seen, 1st time you try to install apk from an app it asks you if you want to allow it?

That's what I was thinking as well, funny thing is that 'Google Chrome' is in the list and I've never used that browser. Unless it's there, because it's from Google
I have followed the above suggestions and have allowed Chrome to install apps since that's the browser I'm using. The phone says I have downloaded the app but it is not giving me any option to install it? Where did the download go and how can I get it actually installed? This is an app for work.
Edit: Nevermind - I restarted the phone and tried again and it worked. thanks.
