[Q] Application not installed/already installed - General Questions and Answers

I'm running Cwm-GB-2.3.6-Octane-V3.0 XPLOD NO CIQ on my Galaxy S 4G, it's Gingerbread but runs ICS in the background or something(themed like ICS but is technically GB). I deleted my system music player app (ICS themed) because I couldn't download the new Google Play music app. It was saying "application already installed". I tried to install Google play music player on the market, no go. I then tried manually installing an .apk file for Google play music, no dice either. I get an "Application not installed' message. I've attempted this with several apps, mostly root browsers and an .apk installer. I've tried running it temporarily unrooted, changed permissions on the .apk, rebooted, r/r SD card, there's no .srec file in the sd card to delete either. Every time I try to download off the market or install an apk I get an "application already exists" or "application not installed" error message. I've also tried manually installing a stock music player apk I found. Any tips?

Google Maps not installing (Mytouch)

Hey guys, I just installed Cynogenmod 4.2.15 on my Mytouch. I tried to update Google Maps however it wouldn't allow me, it kept generating a "package not correctly signed". I heard that by deleting the map app from it's install folder (From the system > apps folder) then trying to download and install it from the market would solve the problem. However, it did not and now I don't even have maps at all. I tried to download the .apk file and installing it then but I just got an error saying "maps could not be installed on this phone".
Anybody know how to get the latest Google Maps to install? Thanks in advanced

No file manager app and no google play

So it seems that i have gotten myself in a little situation with my Samsung Galaxy Rugby GT-S5690M. At first i rooted the phone then installed various software. During all this i deleted the google play app and the file manager that came with the phone. Instead i used the astro file manager. Eventually when i wanted to install the google play app again it kept crashing and not launching. This led me to reset the phone to factory defaults. Consequently, this deleted astro meaning that i have no way to open files on my phone and cannot download any files using google play because that is not installed either. As a result i need a file manager to try to install google play and would like to know if anyone has any solutions to this problem.

[Q] Tablet wont' connect to play store

I bought for my kids the a generic android tablet. I set one up and was able to child proof it by deleting the browser and gmail and google talk. It works beautifully. Then I went to work on my other tablet. I deleted the browser, without backing up, and now I can't get to martket. I get the server error message.
I have dutifully searched the boards before asking any questions. I have:
From boot mode cleared the cache, reset to factory setttings (which did not restore the browser), installed the Google apps for 4.0 gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip which did not install a browser but did install Google talk.
I have signed out and resigned in and restarted play store many times, I have deleted and reinstalled the apk.
I have tried to install google framework apk where it gives me a parse error.
I unistalled play store and installed market hoping for the update and reinstall of play store. I get server error
I have installer market enabler.
Google sync doesn't work either.
The device came rooted. I use es file explorer.
Android 4.0.4
Kernel 3.0.8+
Please. Please help!
Bump!

Play Store must be installed as a system app. After you deleted it and reinstalled it, it installed as as a user app. Chances are the app you used to uninstall it can move it to to system. If not, there's a number of free apps that can.
As for the Insufficient Storage Space issue, first try wiping cache and dalvic cache. If that doesn't work try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2443267
Tried the thread u linked me it doesn't work cant find the folder
How do I do that?

You need a file browser with root access. ES File Explorer, for example. Do a search for "instagram". It'll probably a long time. Did you get Play Store working?
I have file explorer which has root access and still can't find that file and also nothing on instagram, had to uninstall play store due to the message play store has stopped working
What should I do now?

Question Unable install APK

Hi everyone,
When running into trouble with Revolut apps on the 12SU (China ROM), I tried to install an older version via APK from apkpure. I am however unable to install APK's. It says "couldn't install. Error 999" I have tried several other apps, same thing.
I already gave permission to install unknown apps to firefox, chrome and the xiaomi app installer app, but to no avail.
Any thoughts?
