[Q] Recommendation for Android Tablets pls
Hey Guys,
I have seen many threads with different versions of tablet and i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a good one.
I'm after a reasonably priced (meaning Chinese manufacturers less known brand) within a budget of £200, preferably 10 inch tablet.
I'm planning to upgrade afterwards to Android 2.2 or 2.3 (is possible) using your amazing mod ROMS.
Any advice recommendation would be great.
And any sellers that you have used (reliable ones) would also be much appreciated.
Cheers
Wolfy

just make sure you buy something with a capacitive touch screen. I bought a cheapie 7" tablet for my son to play some android games on and it is only resistive touch which makes it a pain to get used to.
It works but you'll want to spend the few extra bucks to get something nice.

Thanx a bunch
Hi folks,
thanx for suggestions.... let me check em out and see how they r.
i saw the latest Gipad and Sipad....... kinda of hit n miss in some areas.
any thoughts

[Q] Android tablets...

So i want to buy a android tablet. i will so be going to college, and i find it was easier to carry tablet with ebooks instead of the actual book.
I have AT&T. so their tablet will be the Galaxy Tab, which is okay for 549.99
but then the Motorola Xoom (wifi version) came out for 599.99 which i find way better only problem would be the 3G. i hate verizon btw.
and of course there are many other to come in the next months.
so can you all guide me in which direction will be the best for me. thanks

If only there was a thread called:
Need advice on my next TABLET / what model is better? Official Thread---
if only that thread was not limited to $200... -sigh-

If only you'd read the rest of it and realise it is now a combined general thread.
I would imagine you would be needing something with exceptional battery life and an excellent screen (particularly for viewing in sunlight). Something like the pixel qi technology, the Notion Ink Adam for example, however whether the Notion Ink delivers on what it promises remains to be seen, its been in development for a long time.
If you are spending that sort of money I would highly recommend getting a demo of the devices and I would also consider setting the iPad2 as a benchmark, if you are paying around the same price, then you should at least aim for a screen/battery better than that, or you might as well get one of those.
i not really in iOS, i have an ipod touch. its blah.
i liek android better.
there to many out there to go for.
i have my eyes set on some of them, HTC Flyer, Moto Xoom (AT&T verison might launch is that is so, we got a winner but until then), toshiba tablet, Viewsonic Viewpad 7 or 10. those are mainly the once i am intrested in. just dont know which will be best. and more hackable (if thats even a word.)

As far as I can tell they are all quite similar spec, although not looked in detail.
Regarding hack-ability, keep an eye out for which ones are rooted etc, with the hardware specs being so good and being from main stream manufacturers chances are they will be hacked (I imagine just too tempting).
I would expect that the Viewsonic's battery and screen won't be a patch on the others, as a lesser manufacturer, but then neither will the price.
For me, I've decided to go the cheep route, since I don't have the cash to get the more expensive ones or to upgrade them when they get superseded in 12 - 18 months.
I think after all the atrix with the lapdock will be my final choice
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I have a notion ink Adam - pixel qi, 3g.
It's a great piece of hardware. Fast, good camera, light, the pixel qi works well.
The down sides are:
- the Eden UI still has a few bugs. I'm looking to run Ubuntu anyway so not an issue for me
- pixel qi is not the same as a kindle. Similar, but pixel qi is more for usage in the sun.

[Q] Resistive screen tablet suggestions.

Hello XDA!
I've searched around but have not found a specific topic regarding suggestions of well made resistive screen tablets. What I am looking for is a tablet where writing with a stylus is very easy (like HTC Flyer) but less expensive. Most tablets sporting the stylus seem to be "cheap" ... Does anyone have suggestions on tablet in the 7"-10" range that has a decent set of specs, can be upgraded to Honeycomb (even if unofficial, I can deal with that) and can be found for less than the Flyer (which is going for like $300 now) ... ???
Or just point me to the topic that I missed when searching
Thanks!

you can buy a capacitive (sp?) stylus for under 10 dollars. find an app that's made for handwriting recognition (i'm sure there are plenty) and you're done.
If you NEED something that comes prepackaged with good stylus software, look into the galaxy note or the lenovo thinkpad.

Ya, I would do what he says, meaning get a stylus. I would check out the Amazon Fire, im sure eventually it will get Honeycomb threw hacking, and it is $200.
Please thank me if I helped.

[Q] tablet decision

hey guys,
i want to buy a tablet for my new school year. so i have to make my notes with it. furthermore i want to use it like a tablet wants to being used, browsing, streaming music and videos and using lots of applications etc.
i dont want to pay too much, actually not more than ~500-600€ because i have to buy a new phone as well.. so i came to the decision that the google nexus 7 would be a great device because it is really really cheap. i would have to buy a keyboard but that would not change the price a lot. (~300€). but the last hours i thought about the small display in relation to all other tablets. i mean its not that big and i need to work with it..
so the asus transformer pads came into my mind, especially the tf300t. its way expensiver but the keyboard dock would be really great. the display is bigger and the technical equipment is also better (sd card slot). the price would be ~500€.
i would like to know another opinions from experts, thanks in advance
500 euros???
for that amount you can get a cheap microbook or whatever....
like a 10 incher
if youre insisting on a tablet it really shouldnt cost you more than 300 euros- and yes 7 inches is a bit on the small side if youre doing a lot of work on it. but what kind of work can you do on it?

Nexus 7 Alternative (not big 6) tablet with custom ROM (budget)

Hi Guys,
So I am looking at a new tablet to replace my trusted Nexus 7 car headunit infotainment system. I know there are a few threads, but this one is different due to the requirements.... Also, as I dont really have the money to go buying from the big 6 (Samsung, Sony, Lenovo etc etc) I am considering those which are not big names.
So I am looking for a budget device, preferably £75 or less, must have GPS, and preferably would have 3G/4G. I have seen a few on ebay, inclusive of "AllWinner" and a few others such as "ExcelVan" or "Teclast p70". or "XGody". Looking for 7inch Phablet, brings up a few options, but just not sure what to go with! Ideally I would prefer to use the later OS's, the idea of using 5.1 over 4.4 appeals more, but I dont know if really that is the best call, and if I would be gaining or losing anything particularly by choosing this.
I am looking for something faster with the same sort of specs, but preferably with 2GB RAM, or something which can be overclocked to exceed the Nexus 7 2012, not too bothered about HD or Camera or stuff like that....
I think I am pushing my luck a little, as I dont think such a thing exists really, other than the "Swipe Slate 8" which I cant find in the UK, and that has a slightly larger screen.... I also know the chinese units dont tend to get as much love on the Custom ROM front as the big names, but I just dont have the money to buy the big names, and really I want something relatively modern (last 2-3 years or so) with equal specs....
I just dont know if these allwinner 23 / 33 processors are any good....
If anyone has any idea's I would gratefully receive them! Alternatively, if you can suggest some other 2GB tablets in the budget category, I would appreciate it!

Trying to decide on a 6" phone

Hi everyone
I'm trying to find a cheap 6" android phone with expandable storage for everyday use (I'm generally on building sites), reasonable camera, use the kindle and readly app, I'm not looking to play 3D type games (apart from soduku and reversi!)
At the moment I have a Samsung S2 i9100 running LineageOS - great little phone, but for reading, it's way too small for my poor old eyes
I've been looking at phones on ebay, and hopefully this link will keep my search options:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/Mobile-Sma...oid&rt=nc&Screen%20Size=6%2E0%22%20%26%20Over
Some of the phone manufacturers I've never heard of, my budget is only to £50 (not much I know) I'd want to root it, install TWRP and LineageOS.
Are there any manufacturers/models I should stay clear of?
Many thanks for any help
