Any chance of porting the Honeycomb 3.0 ROM from the Xoom to the G Tablet? Similar chipset (Tegra) and specs....
hopefully
I think we will see it before to long!
I would guess shortly after someone gets their hands on a xoom.

It's insane to me that people just can't seem to understand how forums work... Read first, post second. You are now the latest in a long line of people that have asked the exact same question. I'm not trying to bust balls here, but if you actually want the answer to your question a quick forum search would have done the job. Instead we have a useless thread....

Source Code should be coming soon
Since Moto wanted to keep the XOOM as legendary as possible (The UBER Official First Tab with a Honeycomb ROM) I say we should see a system dump/source dump coming juuuuuuust a little bit after that.

Not to perpetuate this lame thread, BUT this is a good place for my question, I suppose. Don't you all think that Motorola is going to lock down the Xoom pretty tight? I don't know much about porting a new ROM, but I'm guessing it's not going to be a slam dunk.

Has anyone taken the system images from the SDK and tried to cwm them onto the gtab?
I'll be trying this today..
The reason why I'm not too worried is,
1. CWM Backups are your friend!
2. Honeycomb was designed for the Tegra2 proc right? Xoom = T2 proc.. so most of the drivers should work, hopefully. (except the sd card, camera, etc..)
3. I didn't pay for my Gtab..
EDIT: Ok.. that didn't go so well. Reboot loop.. trying a new boot.img

Go to notioninkhacks.com they are close to having a rom they need two files. There isa post on front page read it andcontact them.
Forget the Xoom port, I want the Honeycomb AOSP. CM usually gets them earlier than anyone so I'm assuming a CM Honeycomb base will come out two weeks after the Xoom gets released. After the Honeycomb base, then Roebeet, Rothic, Gojimi, and (fingers crossed) Bekit can start cooking!
CM doesn't get access to AOSP earlier than anyone else. Android Open Source Project is what AOSP means and is available whenever Google releases the source to open source and pushes it to androids github repository.
Once the " Honeycomb" branch is pushed we can start seeing real progress...though proper drivers also need to be released from nvidia.
I suspect a Xoom port will be available before an AOSP built rom is.

The images from the sdk are built for the emulator and not the tegra 2 CPU...that is a big reason why it hasn't been "ported" already like it was for the nook color.

[sent with Xooming Android technology]
... Showing my interest also.
It looks like it's going to take a recompile of libsurfaceflinger.so. I tried using adb to push it to my xoom (just for the fun of it, since I knew I couldn't truly brick it by doing it) and it hung on the dual core tech screen with both of the versions of libsurfaceflinger.so that were provided in the link (they're the files in the .zip updates that are replaced).
It will probably have to wait until the honeycomb source is released before we see this solution supported, unless someone knows how to hex edit the existing honeycomb libsurfaceflinger.so (if it's similar enough to Froyo's or gingerbread's). I looked for the changes that they made to it to support the color calibration and all I could find is that they had made the changes in the "source". (Whether that's C or ASM, I don't know).
Short answer is, unless someone has found another way to do it- this method's probably not going to happen until honeycomb source is released.

I know its been a while, but...
I'd be interested in something like this too, if it is made to work on the Xoom. I bought my Xoom partially to show my photography portfolio, so I would pay for an app to let me fine tune the color.
Doug
Yes, I would also pay/donate for a solution. I also noticed, that the screen hue is dependant on screen brightness level. It would be great if a brightness level dependant compensation could be implemented.
Also a Photographer btw.
Greetings from Germany!
Chris
YES we definitely need to get something like this going, should be a very high priority among XOOM devs, IMO.
I think so, too. I can't believe so few people are complaining about this!
Sounds like you will want to look at this tip of mine found here:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099941
It's not exactly what you were looking for but it does enhance the Xoom's screen quality and diaplays a little nicer color. I am gathering a list of user known issues so that we can help solve them and possibly get some new features added. Hope this was helpful.
Yes, me too please. I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1v and just got a Xoom WiFi. The colors on the Tab are much richer and gray is accurate. On the Xoom the color is definately on the 'cold' side by being a bit blue and the saturation looks a bit washed out.
I work with Photoshop all day on a calibrated monitor so perhaps I am being a bit picky but the GT 10.1v is much closer to my monitor than the Xoom.
Anyone have an idea how hard it would be to port this tiamat kernel over to Transformer? built for XOOM and others, and the XOOM hardware is near identical right? Just a thought, this thread has the info and link to the github of the sources.

Yeah, I was going to PM him, but he has PMs disabled, and I wasn't going to post in the thread because people hate that, me included. There is nothing more annoying in a thread when someone else comes in asking to do this all to their device. While this is a situation where at least the device internals are pretty similar, still not a polite thing to do. The github of his work should be enough for any dev here to port the work over pretty easily I'd think. We'll see though.

The hardware is fairly similar but they are based on two completely different OEM boards. Transformer=Ventana, Xoom=Stingray.
The Tiamat kernel modificationc could possibly be ported to the transformer kernel, but it isn't as straight forward and simple as you might think.
definitely would be sweet.. dual 1.6GHZ sounds pretty good
Hopefully we get some support soon.. I wish I knew how to do this stuff.

Its not limited in just availability, its limited in 'mod-ability'.. It could just be the product maker following the guidelines for that particular board and making use of 'security' features specific to that board, but its still a pain in the ass. Work was put in to make the end user work harder to be able to customize.
I have the gtab (harmony), Xoom (stingray) , and eeepad (ventana). The gtab is the fastest, the easiest to mod, the hardest to brick.. and the heaviest with the worst screen. The eeepad is the slowest, the worst to mod and the lightest.. guess what .. best screen.
I am typing this on the gtab tho.. and I just got the eeepad today. It'll probably collect dust. Tried to play south park (originally avi/xvid/mp3) converted/muxed to mp4/xvid/aac and the Asus would play it... but volume control was not working it was full blast or mute. My gtab plays xvid avi/mp3 without a hiccup. Any other format I can throw at it too (sans multichannel audio and high profile h264). Its really surprising how far this has come. Since its oc'd every which way, it makes everything else seem very very slow. Only thing I haven't been able to get oc'd yet is emc.
Getting the ability and the clocks setup for the Asus was a breeze. Configuring/adjusting /making sense of all the bits and pieces of dvfs was not. speedo_id is a new one to me, and that seems to be the value that is read from fuse data and locks down max clocks
You guys got Blades and Netarchy on the case. You don't need me lol. I would LOVE to have Netarchy working on stingray.
Hey Guys. Ive been googling my heart out for anything related to 2.3 for the bravo, and found a set of instructions. Cant post links, but if you google Motorola bravo 2.3, its the first result. The main url is android50. Does anyone know if those instructions actually work? They look pretty sketchy, but also pretty specific when it comes to that sort of thing. Anyways. I cant post in the Development section yet, so if some nice mod or someone wants to move this over there, be my guest.
Here's the link. http://www.android50.com/Topic/view/id-9421
I don't like it. The wording just sets me off. O yea, and there's the post about updating to 3.0.... http://www.android50.com/Topic/view/id-9420
Definitely not buying it. Also a reference to some random zip?
ew, I didnt notice the 3.0 page. The zip on that one is the same one on the 2.3 page (hc_NS_test-8.1.zip). Mannnn thats a bummer. Oh well, someone will figure it out eventually.
edit: Found hc_NS_test-8.1.zip. Its a real android build, but it seems to be 3.0 according to the build.prop. Weeeiiirrrrdddd.

If you wanted AOSP so badly, you should have waited for it to be available on an LTE phone before you bought one. Buyers remorse is no reason to come onto the forums and ***** about not getting something that's unsupported and done in the developer's free time.

I have used CM7 before, and I love it. I look forward to it coming just as much as a lot of people. But I'm not going to get pissed about it because development is going slower than I would like in the perfect world that exists in my brain. I don't get pissed because I know I'm unable to contribute to the process, so I have to just sit and wait patiently.
If you were contributing code daily and fixing issues, and the rest of the people working on the project weren't doing as much as you or stalling on the project, then maybe you'd have an angle for getting upset. But as it stands, you just need to STFU and wait for JT to make a breakthrough like the rest of us.

Inexperience has absolutely nothing to do with the responses that have been posted here. It is rude and in all honesty a sign of your inexperience for you to complain about the speed of development. You are neither contributing nor populating the forums with decent honest questions or any positive material!

I used CM7, OMFGB, and jt1134's Vanilla GB on the fascinate, but I have nothing to contribute in the way of development of a ROM except for thorough testing. So I calmly wait and accept the fact I am on the dev's timetable. I suggest you do the same. Couple of things for you to consider:
1) Read the stories about CM7 on the Bionic. Everything I read said it booted on the phone, but is nowhere near functional enough for release. From what I have read of jt's progress on CM7 for the Charge, he is ahead of the Bionic progress.
2) Have you noticed some of the most respected devs, Nitsuj17 and Adrynalyne, have started chiming in here and are telling you to stfu? Especialy Nitsuj17, he is one of the nicest guys I have seen across many forums. It's a truly rare occasion when he responds to someone the way he did here, so good job. That to me is a big clue you are talking out of your ass and are the real clueless one.
Next time you open your mouth it would be a good idea to first remove you head from your ass. It prevents you from spouting nothing but a bunch of ****.

why is it taking soooo long to restore 8600 text messages??? Actually, why does it not limit people to 300 like I checked. Would knock off a couple thousand easy. i have limits set in gosms and stock to no avail.
And it feels weird having a phone that doesn't say Samsung on it. It's been about four years. Would've been longer if Sammy would've made the i550.
Will say, the Q charges a lot quicker than the Epic ever did with or without a charge only cable. Keys have a bit more travel than the Epic's. Doesn't feel like a good thing at the moment, but I'm sure it's more of just what I'm used to. Same goes for the tab key, weird punctuation placement and the annoying on screen keys. What's the point of having onscreen buttons if there is so much bezel space at the bottom. Phone feels light and plasticy, but not in a bad way. At least there's no chromed plastic. Slider seems solid. Screen is definitely bright. Colors aren't oversaturated, and I still see a touch of pixelization that probably would be non existent if it were HD and not qHD.
Hopefully there will be some worthwhile development for this thing. Cheers all.

Bought this device for my mom, will be rooting it this weekend and starting the debloat. Hope to see the community around this grow, maybe even get a CM maintainer. This has the specs to make it through a few Android OS releases

Do you have a tree up? I saw there's kernel source from Moto...
I was looking at buying this device, and I want to put TWRP 2.0 and AOKP on it. I'd love to help ya .
i handed the device tree off to dees_troy since he did the photon twrp himself before i imagine he will prolly do this one as well twrp currently doesnt boot
as for device trees i got sick of so many cwm ports back in teh froyo days not having source up so i do everything in my power to ensure people can get it https://github.com/Shabbypenguin/android_device_moto_asanti
as for aokp/cm and the like i tried to compile CM9 and it threw a bit fit. thats about where im gunna stop
You've been thanked, this should at least get me somewheres. Would like to see some good ROM's for this beast

give me some time and ill have us some goodies, buying this phone real soon, and will port over what I've done for the photon to the q (not saying I'm going to port from photon)... in case you don't know of me....I've taken on miui, aokp, aokpcb, cm9, cna,.paranoid android, and themed/tweaked stock ....I've had alot of great friends helping me through them, so in no way can I take full credit for them but I'm certain I should be able to do the same for the q.....

Hell yeah I've heard of you and enjoyed your work. I can't wait to see what you put together for the Q.

Alright! I am getting CM9 and will work with some other peoples to get Shabby's device tree fleshed out. Hopefully we can get that up and running pretty quickly so we can move onto CM10/AOKP
Also, I ordered the phone today - hope to have it here soon!
My wifey wants this phone but she said she wants to wait till ROMs come out for it. Was shocked when she said that I think I got her spoiled on ROMs from her epic 4g lol.

why is it taking soooo long to restore 8600 text messages???
