I recently bought a HTC Wildfire, but I was a bit disappointed with its CPU, so I want to overclock it. But in order to do that it seems that I need to install a HBOOT USB driver. I followed the instructions provided by unrEVOked and successfully installed it in bootload mode, but when I try to connect my phone to my computer with USB debugging enabled, my computer says it needs to install drivers, even though I installed them. Can anyone help me?
I had that problem too and all I did was after it asked again I just directed it to the same location for the bootloader files and installed it like that. Unrevoked worked after that.
So I should just keep trying?
It still doesn't work.
I had the same problem with my HTC Aria, I had to install HTC sync to my computer. While your installing that, the program automatically installs 2 drivers for the phone. This might fix your problem. I wasn't able to root my Aria until I did this, you just have to make sure your not running HTC sync while your using unrevoked.

Have you dowloaded and installed the correct drivers, usb debugging checked, fastboot checked, phone connected to pc using HTC sync mode?

Errrrr, have you unpacked the archive? Not trying to say that you are stupid, just a good old "check simple things first" thing. Also, did you follow revolutionary how to?

Also, make sure your virus scanner isn't running.
I have the same problem. I tried on a different computer and at first revolutionary would go on but as soon as I installed HTC drivers it would immediately close. I tried uninstalling HTC sync but it still does it. Idk how to fastboot check I understan alot of android stuff but then my last 2 devices where a captivate and then an infuse so those were simple for root. lol I am a noob though when it comes to getting this much in depth. Any suggestions? I feel stupid asking this cause I have flashed a ton of roms in the past.
Figured it out I used the drivers that came with sync when you need to use th ones from revolutionary
any help on how to use the drivers that came with revolutionary not sync please
Just make sure you can connect via HTC sync then exit htc sync and make sure it is closed completley. give it a second and run revolutionary again
Revolution Doesnt work for me!
Hey guys i cant get Revolution to work. I'm having the same problem. Flashes and then goes off without running.
I have installed the htc drivers(from revolution site), enabled debugging, connected via htc sync(then closed it), extracted the .zip file and run the .exe.
I cant find an option to disable fastboot. I dont have a power in settings and in applications there is no option for fastboot. I'm running a t-mobile 2.2.1 android.
HELP!
So Im following the guide over at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 on rooting my Sensation.
Im stuck at #5 under step one.
When I double click revolutionary, whether my phone is plugged in or not, it opens then closes in about 2 seconds.. nothing happens..
Any idea what is wrong? I have tried re-downloading several time.. nothing is working!
My USB debugging is on, I have it set to everything it says on the forum..
Try another USB port .... and make sure the drivers are installed via device manager.
It should be driver conflict in your computer (maybe).... Did you try to remove all drivers and HTC sync before doing Step 1 for S-off?
After installing the revolutionary program restart your computer to let it "finish installing". I did not do that and had very similar problems to what you are having.
Did you try running in adminstrative mode?

I have a htc sensation 4g with hboot 1.27.1100 I've unlocked the bootloader flashed recovery, and rooted the phone.
I'm trying to gain s-off by running controlbear, and using the paper clip trick, but after controlbear reboots the phone it gives me this message : Connect device and install drivers.
I'm assuming it's referring to the device drivers for the phone which are already installed. If it's referring to some other driver I don't know what one it's talking about.
I noticed while using adb it also would not recognize the device, though I was still able to use it to communicate with the phone. Was thinking that might have something to do with it.
Any help would be appreciated.
HTC's 4.0 update really screwed my phone up...Just bumping, don't know what proper etiquette is on this forum for bumps, if it was to early i'm sure i'll hear about it, and will reserve myself for future post.
make sure you have usb debugging on i had the same issue and i didnt have it on so give that a try good luck

Just got a HTC One SV this afternoon for the missus. (I am a Note 2 owner) and part of the deal to get her away from wanting an iPhone 5 was to convince her Android was the way to go. Of all the phones she looked at, she chose the HTC One SV because of its size ...
Brought it home with the promise I would set it up like my phone for her and all would be good.
Proceeded to follow instructions found in the HTC One SV section of these forums on unlocking the bootloader and so forth.
What a complete and utter nightmare HTC put their customers through for a simple unlock! Went to their site, followed the instructions, joined, emailed, got my "token" <-- what a joke! and proceeded with the next set of instructions which was to place a TWRP img on the phone.
Next thing I know windows pops up and says Device driver was not successfully installed. ? MTP USB Device ...
This I dont get at all. When I first plugged the phone into the PC the forst thing Windows did was install the drivers. The phone popped up in windows and I could access the internal storage.
I've installed HTC Driver & SyncManager but still whenever the phone is plugged in I get the MTP error and no phone in windows. So how am I to finish setting up this phone now?
The only reason for this post is I am exhausted, I've been searching these forums and the net for an answer, and I'm completely at my wits end.
I have an unlocked HTC One SV which may as well be bricked if I can't access it via PC. Maybe I should of let her have that damn iPhone 5 after all ...
Massive props to Seanie280672 who helped me get a recovery.img onto the phone. Phew!
Missus won't be giving me any grief over not getting an iPhone 5
That said, even though I managed to somehow connect the phone to the PC, it is still not coming up in windows explorer, and upon connection of the phone (USB) to the PC, windows always throws up the message that the drivers are not installed?
Check device manager and there's the dreaded little yellow astrix next to the mobile device. Somethings amiss here ...
Thx for the help, muchly appreciated. :good:
Since JB all HTC devices are recognized on PC as MTP device. Previous used UMS was kicked out.
Install the latest version of htc driver
I'm in Australia so I got the drivers from HTC.au site:
http://www.htc.com/au/support/news.aspx?p_id=537&p_name=htc-one-sv
The driver file is called setup_2.1.55.0_htc
Is this the latest or is there a different driver I should be using?

have u tried to enable usb debugging? Go to settings > developer options
If your driver is including HTC Sync, you should be fine.
You can uninstall Sync afterwards, driver for the phone will still remain.
Strangely deleting Sync did the trick. Plug in the phone and no pop ups saying drivers are not installed. Phone is now showing up in My Computer.
Yup, not the first time, Sync makes the problem.
Hello, yes this is my first post. Glad to finally be on here.
But, unfortunately it starts off with a problem.
I have the Android Revolution HD XE 7.2 ROM installed on my phone, completely rooted S-OFFed and so on.
My problem is that now I'm starting to get into developing android apps, and trying to get my computer to detect the phone has been very tricky indeed. I'm using Eclipse with the SDK installed, I've developed on other phones, I was using a Samsung one the other day so I know everything is working.
I attempted to install HTC sync which I believe is what I need to make the USB connection work, all worked fine. Only when I use "adb devices" nothing is detected.
So I'm guessing this is either down to the fact the phone is all custom and it doesn't exist to HTC sync, or because I'm running Windows 8.1 and something has screwed up down the line. In device manager my phone is listed as 'Android Device' with a yellow triangle because it can't find any driver automatically, but I'm still able to transfer files to the SD card via usb and everything works, just development doesn't (and yes, debugging mode is active).
Help appreciated, and please treat me as the newcomer I appear to be, use small words

Here is the link of the drivers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217396
You can choose the driver that meet your requirement.
I have already attempted that before actually going ahead and installing the full HTC Sync. I'm beginning to believe the problem must lie somewhere else because the drivers are there and work fine, my phone connects just fine but it's not visible to adb or anything.
EDIT: I managed to fix it by using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061435
whether it is the best solution I don't know because it's pretty old, however my phone now gets found by adb.
Thanks for the help guys!
