Hey guys, I'm probably upgrading from my HTC Hero soon and I'm thinking about getting a transform due to not having 4G coverage where I live and I don't wanna pay $10 extra for something I can't have. Is there anyone out there developing Rims for the Transform? I would like to have the front facing camera that it offers and be able to video chat with it, as it isn't possible to do right now for whatever reason. I'm sure with some developing, the video chat would be possible. And I'm sure its 800mhz processor is overclockable to at least 1ghz.
Anybody got any info on this? Thanks y'all.

Unless you buy your new phone in the next 5 days any smartphone will have the $10 charge regardless of 4g coverage.
So maybe that would widen your selection, evo shift

Lol if anything, I think I'm gonna go with an Evo considering its been out a while, plenty of Rims have already been developed and its got video chat. the shift seems pretty sweet, everything about it, except there's no frontfacing camera :[ that is a must on my list for my next phone lol

I've used a downloaded RUU to "fix" my first failed root attempt and it was a lifesaver. Now the Gingerbread update for the Inspire 4G has 'leaked" but my simple question is, where do these come from in the first place? Do they come direct from HTC (like I imaging) and if they do, how can I get ahold of them without relying on less than great sources?
They ultimately come from HTC. The leaked RUUs are probably from employees of HTC. They are signed by HTC so you know that they haven't been tampered with.
To get hands on one, you should go to the service center and request for one ,maby they will agree, maby they will need to be offered a little price

This "Diagnostic Tool", that secretly records practically every keystroke on our smartphones, apparently gets shipped out on many stock devices; but rooting the phone gives us the ability to delete it. I was just thinking of the chances that some of our developers are cooking, and hiding it, in our beloved custom roms. Any thoughts?
I doubt our devs would do that. #Paranoid

doubtful man, or at least doubtful they are hiding it from us. Let's be honest, many of the devs here use their product so if its related to breached security, I bet all the bacon in the world they would delete before they hide it. I know off the top of my head, ARHD and their devs removed the logging stuff when it was found to be a security issue in their subsequent release. Just my .02 cents.

One of the great things about being able to root was to get rid of the bloat the carriers gave us. Can't see why they they would keep the carriers spyware. also most of the custom roms offer much better battery life so why would they include something which reduces that.
Has anyone confirmed this on an Inspire?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe this is an issue for AOSP ROMs, however if its being included in any of the bases the roms are being developed on, rest assurred that the devs for each ROM know about it and are probably doing everything they can to remove it. A security issue in any ROM affects the devs as well. From the intial report, the EVO had it and I'm going to make the assumption since HTC and AT&T both admitted to using and allowing this type of diagnostic tool, that our Inspire more then likely came with it already. Just goes to show you though how little control we really have over the phone out of the box...
When I was stock, I didn't see HTC IQAgent on my phone, as demo'd by TrevE in his video.

Glad I'm on absolution although , makes me think, if it was on our phones, and I flash an aosp rom (or really any rom that doesn't have CIQ) would a carrier notice they're not receiving their CIQ info from a certain number? Or maybe they don't pay that close attention to individuals?

I think the Inspire just missed the boat on that one. My girlfriend's phone, the Samsung SGS2 (Epic 4G) from Sprint has it. On those ROMs removed carrier IQ is a feature of pretty much all the ROMs available.
I really doubt our devs would do something so devious as to hide their own version of CIQ in their ROMs...many if not all of them are dedicated to eradicating things like CIQ, not implementing them.

What's scary is that even though we may not have the specific carrier IQ mentioned, AT&T has explicitly said they use carrier IQ and diagnostic tools like it to monitor issues and trends..I don't like the fact they did this, it went under the radar and yet they still don't see why customers take issue with it. Who knows what else they are cooking up and distributing in our phones
glad i came to the forums. After hearing about it, i figured someone would ask if it was found on Inspire. As I have one.
I have yet to root, which is something i plan on doing this weekend in hopes of maybe getting around this Carrier IQ.
Also can someone explain what AOSP is?

Don't be lazy, search for your answers. AOSP = Adroid Open Source Project. If you want more information both the search engine here and google will provide you enough bathroom reading for a solid 3 months (no pun intended).
FYI, There is an app on the market called voodoo carrier IQ it will check your phone and let u know if u have it installed.
Reason I ask is two fold. Aco worker has an inspire and is very worried about it. Also, I am thinking of buying one for myself.
According to what I've read, its the carrier that decides if a phone had it.. If that's true, would the US unlocked version of the inspire be immune to the CIQ madness?
The carriers, mfgs & CIQ will all be blaming each other. They're all trying to CYA right now, claiming ignorance that all activity is getting captured, plain text info was getting sent on https requests, users weren't fully disclosed/couldn't opt out, etc.
Someone deliberately did this stuff, and I hope they go down hard.
Rooting
It seems that there are out-dated and wrong ways to root the Inspire. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Wrong question to ask in this thread. Please search other threads because youre not the first to ask a question like that. Just enforcing the rules. and cleaning up the forums.
P.s. look for the ace hack kit and read the effen manual.
I was in an ATT store today and used Voodoo CarrierIQ checker on their Inspire (running GB). It came up clean, as did the SGS2. No CIQ. The Vivid and Skyrocket didn't pass. Both had it, and it was active.
Just checked mine Inspire 4g and not installed. AT&T service and got phone beginning of July.
Although my phone is not rooted and I just used the free Voodoo Carrier IQ App from the Android Market.
I have searched the threads for roms that might contain AVRCP 1.3 and am not finding what I am looking for. It is needed to get my phone to communicate with the Alpine unit in my Jeep otherwise the unit is pretty useless without it. I don't even see that anyone is adding this bluetooth feature into the roms that are being put together right now and I read somewhere that AVRCP 1.4 is out now as well. Not sure about that.
Are roms available for the Inspire 4G with AVRCP 1.3?
This is the first thing I have tried to do with this phone that has not worked
Can anyone point me in the right direction or make a suggestion for the Inspire 4G so I can make the phone work with the stereo.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Interesting question, but I don't know the answer. You might try specifically asking the dev of your ROM.

My Mi Mix 2s is due in 2 weeks time, I plan on recording with the device and taking advantage of that amazing camera :highfive:
However thanks to Xiaomi's noise cancellation software all audio from recorded videos on the device, sound distorted, tinny and just generally sh*t.
The "temporary" fix at the moment is to not use the stock camera and instead use open camera but I'm hoping together we can find a permanent solution to this as many people have stated it's simply to do with software.
We need to first start with some clarifications:-
1. Is the problem present in all ROM's? (P beta, Global, Chinese, Treble)
2. Can any rooted users get into the build prop and see what they can find (any additional information)
3. Do we for sure know it can be fixed with either root or a OTA from Xiaomi if they decide to fix it
I think if all the current users of the device here at XDA work together on this thread we can get it resolved and enjoy out devices with great videos AND great audio :good:

Beware: I don't have the phone and never heard of somebody trying it on the S version, but it'll probably work IMHO.
