[Ongoing] Steps to solve bad audio - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Guides, News, & Discussion

My Mi Mix 2s is due in 2 weeks time, I plan on recording with the device and taking advantage of that amazing camera :highfive:
However thanks to Xiaomi's noise cancellation software all audio from recorded videos on the device, sound distorted, tinny and just generally sh*t.
The "temporary" fix at the moment is to not use the stock camera and instead use open camera but I'm hoping together we can find a permanent solution to this as many people have stated it's simply to do with software.
We need to first start with some clarifications:-
1. Is the problem present in all ROM's? (P beta, Global, Chinese, Treble)
2. Can any rooted users get into the build prop and see what they can find (any additional information)
3. Do we for sure know it can be fixed with either root or a OTA from Xiaomi if they decide to fix it
I think if all the current users of the device here at XDA work together on this thread we can get it resolved and enjoy out devices with great videos AND great audio :good:

Beware: I don't have the phone and never heard of somebody trying it on the S version, but it'll probably work IMHO.

Best Radio Version

I have been having a lot of distortion problem with my Vox. So help me out. Currently I am using 4.1.13.60_03.18.90.
Kindly vote and tell your experience with different versions.
I never had any problems with 03.10.90! But then again my state is fairly good covered (Saxony). I think only like 2% of the area is not covered with GSM (and lately more and more with EDGE too)!
I plan on giving a thorough test of all the later versions once I re-assemble my mobile. I also noticed high distortion on 4.1.13.60_03.18.90 immediately after flashing. I am led to believe this was a small reason my ear piece failed, the distortion and higher volume 'popped' in and it would no longer function properly, heck, it could also have been since it was quite old too.
Anyways, for good measure I will be reverting to 4.1.13.47_02.98.90, I never had issues with the radio shipped from the factory and coverage was no problem. I suggest you downgrade before any hardware has a chance at being ruined.
h4waii is true. I have installed several radios and I have found 4.1.13.47_02.98.90 the best especialy for areas with weak signals.

I read your thread that you are reassembling your phone. I hope you will put a video guide for others too. That will be very useful.
I was reading through forum and I came across a post in which he had said that he pulled out the battery and put it after a few hours and things were back to normal. Well I tried it and I dont know what is the logic but it worked. Still echos on high volume but other reception distortion is gone.
Can radio damage your phone? Mine was shipped with v4.1.13.54_03.10.90.
@frauhottelmann
You have cooked a lite rom and it is not with latest XIP. Why you and Gonzo are not updating their Roms. Lefab also not working on WM6.1 Rom. Only one working is Hikey, and he does not have a thread here. I requested him in post but he refused by saying their are already too many roms here. Is it possible to hope that one of you will bring a clean Rom with latest XIP. New XIP is much faster.
i use v4.1.13.60_03.18.90
I have never noticed this distortion you mention
I can tel you why I never did continue cooking. There are three reasons:
1) I simply got tired. It is in fact a quite annyoing process. Espacially working on a 96dpi ROM, everytime you fixed something another problem turns up.
2) I experimented with OSs on my computer (from XP to Vista to Server 2008 to Vista and in the end of the week back to XP - the switching back is due to hardware problems) lol And cooking under anything else then XP is not quite safe and I experienced more problems under Vista!
3) Nobody ever requested a new updated Lite ROM (at least until now ^^) because people usually just download the stuff and don't report back unless there is a problem (you get sick of that too!)
Hey I will have time next week, so I will probably make Lite 3.0 with new XIP...the problem is that I don't have the Sys and OEM folders anymore, so I will have to start from scratch...

Hmmm you are quite right about the feedback thing. If you work hard on something it no one appreciates it obviously it hurts.
Well atleast I will wait for your new rom. I hope you do something about java. Add jebed or provide link to cab for you new rom.
I did tried your rom, I would have kept it but new XIP is much faster so I had to switch.
@tipu2185;
While a radio in itself can't really damage your hardware, issues caused by it can. Such as high distortion and crackling, this can ruin a speaker. With the right software, hardware can be destroyed.
I've already re-assembled the Vox after replacing both the vibrate motor and the inner ear piece. It's fairly straight forward. I didn't bother to take any pictures as there is a service manual which indicates step-by-step how to do this.

Will we ever see a TOT or KDZ file for the AT&T variant

Like most I'm running the PR firmware but the camera issues bother me. Sometimes the OIS goes haywire and you can feel the camera vibrating. A simple clear data of the camera app fixes it but I can't help but think this software is not 100% perfect on the ATT phone.

Sadly we have to wait for someone to leak it. However, @diedemus is working on exporting stock firmware like "ROM" to be used with FireFlash. When he is done he will need some testers to see if it will work. Stay tuned for that.
The stock image wont be for flashfire unfortunately, going back to stock requires overwriting the partitions completely which flashfire cant really do. But I will have the simplest instructions I can make for it.
Unfortunately, it is a high risk procedure, so I am going to consult with the codefire guys on the best way to get it working.
I may try to get a donation pool going for a dev phone because I cant afford to brick another one. Its my primary phone and I need it for work.

My Experience With Anti-Rollback Feature

Xiaomi implemented anti-rollback feature ( more like a headache) with miui 8.7.6. In this thread I will tell you my experience:
So, I was just browsing through mi community and this post about anti-rollback caught my attention. I wasn't much concerned about it and thought why would someone want to downgrade their phone, I didn't read it completely and that was my mistake. So, you see I had flashed miui 8.7.5 from twrp and did ota update of 8.7.12 to save data as ota is smaller. Now I don't know why but I thought of installing Xposed on my phone. I flashed it and my phone entered bootloop. As this was not knew I calmly booted to twrp and flashed the file of 8.7.5 and pressed reboot.... 1 sec nothing, 2 sec nothing, 3 second nothing and in the 4th second I realised what I had done. I had become a victim of the outrageously implemented anti roll back feature. I left my phone and the next day I found it was alarmingly warm. It stayed warm for like 36 hours and then the battery died. I didn't have time so my phone was a paperweight for 1 week. Then on Saturday( this incident happened three weeks earlier on Sunday) I took it to the middle service centre. Actually around the same time as me a YouTuber named "tech star shahrukh" had bricked his device and posted a video telling how he got his motherboard change. I was sure that service center guys would ask me to pay if I told them the actual reason, so I told them my phone got dead when updating to miui 10. The guy told me with great confidence that they will repair it in two hours, I said ok. Here comes the interesting part. Now I being one of the more stupid personality had actually washed my phone under a tap a long time ago and that had lead to water in my charging board. He told me that I will need to pay 800 INR for the repair, thankfully the motherboard had not got water( they have these little white stickers that turn red on water contact). So I paid an advance 500 and waited. After about 3 days I got a call saying my sub board( charging board) was replaced and any further repairs would come under warranty. I was happy. So after exactly one week of submitting my phone and almost 2 weeks after bricking it, I got it back. Motherboard changed and with miui 9.2.4. So, that was my experience with anti roll back. Thankfully I replaced INR 8000 motherboard by paying 800.
Now it is showing 9.2.13 update, but I won't update. I have had enough of xiaomi. 2 weeks without my phone is just not worth a feeble security feature. So, what are your thoughts on this?are you happy with the current implementation (absolutely not). Suggest how do you think this feature should be implemented.
So you washed your phone and what it has to do with ARB?
Or if I do not understand you right, correcr me.
Arb was implemented for people to stay on latest firmware, as any manufacturer wants to owners be, I totally agree with that, except it was introduced silently which lead to many troubles. Personally I think there was major security bug in previous rom, thats why they changed arb to 4 in that firmware.

Look, actually I had washed my phone a long time ago. So there was no damage but the sticker above the sub board had turned red indicating water damage. My phone was working perfectly even after washing. I bricked it due to anti-rollback when I tried to flash 8.7.5 over 8.7.12. xiaomi has a policy under which if there is liquid damage to a part you need to pay for it to get replaced. There were two stickers in the phone, one over the sub board and another over the motherboard. Only the sub board one had turned red, meaning I had to pay for the sub board replacement(INR 800), So the service centre people first replaced my sub board and then they realised that the phone's motherboard was also messed up, so they replaced it under warranty. I hope you understand now. Washing had nothing to do with arb, just that it made me pay 800 RS.
Okay great, congratulations. But before every flash better be sure what you are doing. And in case of Xiaomi better get full permissions account before any flashing

Right man.
But I still think it wasn't implemented properly. Don't you think that wrecking the motherboard just for a little mistake of flashing a lower version too much? They should at least allow us to disable it. Not everyone is lucky enough to get a motherboard replacement for free...
Same for me. After bricking the device, board was needed to be changed and got it changed under warranty. Something strange happened after change of board, Internal memory got reduced by 4GB and RAM by 40MB. Xiaomi will push update 9.5.19 with ARB V4 even if auto update is off. Check internal storage for downlaod_rom folder. It will get automatically updated during sleep time. Replace the downloaded update file with a text file with same name to stop the updater from triggering it.
I dont understand whats the problem.. In my eyes only mistake by xiaomi was introducing ARB, and only after first bricks releasing official statement.. apart from that its a good feature. Normal users will never face any problems, as they are using official builds, and never go downgrade route.. Users like you, who unlock bootloader, flash beta roms, dev roms, god knows what other roms, should be skilled enough to not break their phone. I mean if you cant follow simple instructions of NOT downgrading bootloader, maybe this whole thing is not for you... By unlocking bootloader you agree with possible damage, no one else is responsible but you. Btw you dont have to change motherboard, all you need is account with permission to flash rom. In the end, all roms gonna be ARB 4, and this whole thing gonna be forgotten. Oh i also was ARB 3 and aware of this whole situation, but updated to .19 ARB 4 rom without fear, because as i said earlier, if you know what you are doing, this brings you no trouble at all..
I unlocked my bootloader and flashed redwolf twrp at 9.5.19.0 stable and after I flashed miui 10 8.6 beta my device is bricked I went to service centre they changed my motherboard

Why people downgrade the miui rom? Answer is simple. In each and every new update, new bug is being introduced. When I was on 9.2.4 only issue was with audio over headphone. After each new update and now on 9.5.17 the issues I face are heating during youtube through firefox, When Connected to pc through mtp, folder access is limited. I use ADM do download files and it will be inside adm folder. if i need to access the files, First it should be copied to download folder from adm folder using file manager. ChromeCast gets disconnected often during 9.5.17. Screen mirroring gives artifacts. Audio over Bluetooth is low. Now after anti v4 anyone who wants to go back to much stable version such as 9.2.4 will be bricked. Once in anti v4, there is no way to get back to anti v 3. even to work simple fast boot commands of anti 4 , first dummy file is needed to be flashed which is rather annoying. Last miui version with anti v 3 is 9.5.17.

I have no problem with arb, I have a problem with the way it is implemented. Agreed that we should be careful while flashing roms but hard bricking the device does not make sense. What if even xiaomi accidentally releases an update with anti lower than 4 or we get a buggy update and want to revert. They should at least allow us to disable it or provide us an easy way to restore our device(using our mi id in some tool like mi flash). I understand that it is a security feature, but it has not been implemented correctly. They should have gone the Google way...
Guys, seriously, let me throw in my two bits for you all to chew on: why would you trust _any_ OEM (Samsung, LG, Sony, Xiaomi, etc.) to build a ROM with the users' best interest at heart? Doesn't make sense. That's why we buy devices that we can unlock, and break free. We should be supporting community ROMs and developers and help them to port features we need. There are lots of open source options out there (LOS, RR, etc.) that don't compromise your data or lock you in under the guise of "stability and security".
Thanks for reading.

Because OEMs are strictly regulated by various institutions, unlike developers. And even tho i love LOS, RR or any other custom rom, in 10years of flashing custom roms, i never had one that was more stable and bugfree than original OS that came with phone..

"Stable" is a relative term. My current custom ROM (Bootleggers) is very solid and probably has more features/options than MIUI ever will, I'm sure. More importantly, I know it doesn't do things behind my back and will not turn on me (eg. anti-rollback, etc.) down the road. Above all, quite often, custom ROMs get security patches long after the OEM has dropped support for the device. My $0.02.

Stable is not a relative term. Stable is stable, with all functions working, not crashing, and not having bugs. Features is different topic, stability and features are different thing. Most often the more features, the more trouble you have. You say its very solid, but if you go to thread and read comments, there are many different bugs and problems. You will never find that many different problems in official miui

Good for you then Sad about that bug you reported 2 days ago lol. Same for me with official firmware, which was created by same people who designed the phone and chose hardware . I mean i dont understand whats your point. Custom rom is better? If thats it, then 95% of owners will disagree, because they have no idea what custom rom, root, or unlocked bootloader is. Official roms are for casual users, who want phone to be reliable, simple, and functioning. They happen to be the vast majority of buyers. Custom roms are either for tech junkies, or people who like playing around with their tech and dont rely on their phone daily. If you discourage trusting companies like samsung, xiaomi, etc., why are you thrusting google? Its their OS after all, they wrote it. Sure, its based on open source linux, but its still googles code. You use google apps, that have all the permissions in the world. What can OEMs possibly take from you that google already didnt lol?

Thanks for contributing.
The "bug" was actually a misconfiguration on my part, not the ROM. I rely on my phone and use it daily with no issues.
XDA is geared towards the 5% that know what a custom ROM is and can make the choice.
I don't trust Google. I don't use Google apps. What I use is open. I've got microG installed so I don't leak my info all over the place. Custom ROMs allow you to do that. Official ROMs don't.

This is not the first device, nor the first OEM, that does things in an underhanded way, where you can never be sure if the next upgrade is going to take your device to a point of no return. My point being that the experience with ARB will (hopefully) alert other MIUI users to what may lie ahead and show Xiaomi that they don't approve. Just an opinion. ?

RANT : So many issues on OOS 10.0.1 but no fix till now?

I purchased OP7Pro and it was on Android 9 Pie and was flawless. It worked great. No issues. Since updating it to Android 10, it's ****ed up. And it's been more than a month. No fixed, no issues. The font is ****ed up. OnePlus Slate isn't applied everywhere. I cleared cache, reinstalled the OS and still same problems. Probably more issues added after resetting. I don't have any third party app, just regular Google Apps and few popular games. There's this WhatsApp issue that I can't send pictures taken from the stock camera from some reason, it just freezes. It's getting irritating. I don't think it's a WhatsApp issue and WhatsApp has released 3-4 updates and if it was, it would probably be fixed by now. And then the Call of Duty issues. It's probably Android 10 issue. I don't think the update is stable at all. Gallery app is behaving weird at times. Like when I open it, it shows no photos and freezes. And all above, I have been reading posts on the OnePlus community about people asking for update patches and the answers are usually that OP7Pro will get bimonthly updates. So, by that logic, if it's not stable for you, you're like ****ed for the next two months? It's just 5 months old device and no faster patches now apparently because OP7T can get 4-5 updates a month but OP7 Pro can't get fixed faster?
So if you guys have any solutions to above issues, help me out? I can't clean install every single time. I've tons of authenticator and stuff on the phone and really don't like setting it up all over again.
Just downgrade to Pie and enjoy almost the same functionality workout some not so needed features.
That's my workaround, and I agree that A10 was the worst update for Op on my memory.
Then eat some more pie for now...

I have two OnePlus 7 Pro's in my family and both are running 10.0.1 without any issues. I think my biggest issue that I see from time to time is that the auto brightness in low light rooms gets too dark. Other than that I think it is great! I will add that having read about all the problems many people are having, both here on XDA as well as on the OnePlus forum site, is that there's a common denominator for many of them...they complain about Whats App? Never used it! Sounds like a junk app to me because it seems to not work well on Android 10??? Also, they all have various games on theirs phones that do not work well with 10 either! I do not play games on an expensive communication tool. I say if you want to play games, then get a game station of some type and hook it up to your computer or TV, not to your cell phone. So maybe it's not Android 10.0.1 on the OnePlus 7 Pro that's the problem...maybe it's the crap-apps that people insist on installing on their phones. Now where did I leave that flame suit?
I add to main problems that android auto on opo7pro + android 10 it's fully unusable.
Audio glitch, drop connections, reboots and buttons disappear from interface.
Shame, going back to pie (but it's not anymore maintained for security update, so double disappointment).
Opo this time didn't performed well guys, let's be sincere
Since the update i am facing issue with screen dimming, even when i wake up the phone. I mean auto brightness was accurate for me on Pie.
Any resolution? Some may say its broken from start but not for me.Please advise.
No problems here
Try a full wipe and then install OB5
Work flawlessly

So, I do play games on PC too. but it's more compact and easy to play on phones. I mean you can play it anywhere. OP7Pro even gave a Fnatic Mode for gaming. I don't even know what's the use of it if games are crashing and making the devices heat up. They even advertised cooling. And not everyone installs crap apps. Whatsapp issue is more serious. Whenever I try sending a photo/video using stock camera, the app crashes and freezes.

I never said everyone installs crap apps, I said that those with constant issues do. There are way more people using this phone without any issues than there are with issues....and the difference just may be the choice of apps that people are installing. Simple.
If you are having issues with Whats App...then uninstall Whats App...issue solved! As for games...maybe the game developers need to do more work to make them work properly on 10. I do not use Whats App so I have none of the issues that Whats App has introduced and I do not play games so I have none of those issues either.
Imagine if any cell phone company said that you cannot play games on their phone because it will cause problems. It will never happen because they need to sell phones in order to stay in business and feed their families. Unfortunately this does not mean that many of these games will work properly on any cell phone. If playing games on a cell phone is a necessity then I would recommend getting a phone that is designed specifically for gaming as there are several to choose from. I would rather that phone makers designed different phones for different purposes but that rarely happens due to economic reasons. So you can continue to complain, or you can uninstall the apps and games that are causing your issues and enjoy what is otherwise an excellent phone with top notch software. The choice is yours. But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for OnePlus to fix issues that are not their fault because if you do you will turn blue and suffocate to death.
I agree OP f*ed up with this....they really wanted to be the first to relase A10 after it was official that they ended up release an alpha as "stable"...I mean it says a lot when your beta is better than your stable (although in my case I had battery drain on B4 so I just downgrade to A9)
A lot of people love to say "I've been on 10.0.1 since day and I have no issue"... Cool congrats do you want a cookie? Cause you not having any issue doesn't take away from others having issues...
OP over the pass few years have become more mainstream so they've started acting more mainstream by not giving a rats ass about community opinions anymore .... Tragic really...

So I've been using WhatsApp since like 10 years now and just because I'm having problems on OP7 Pro, I should uninstall this app and that will solve the issue? Why not OnePlus/WhatsApp solves this issue? I mean if they're providing this phone, it also includes the operating system part too, not just the hardware.
And it's great you're not having any issues, I've posted this for the people who are having the issues and can discuss id they're any workaround for the issues we're facing.
They did advertised it as a gaming phone with Fnatic mode and 90hz display. And I hope you do know what Fnatic is? Or rather who they are.
It's about fixing the issues. It's been more than a freaking month and they've already forgotten about a premium segment smartphone. All their replies include bimonthly updates and replies from their fanboys.
If they stable release, at least be stable? I would be happily using Android 9 if they gave security patches separately. But no, I have to update in order to get the security updates too.

I'm tired of people replying I don't have any issues. That's why I stopped discussing it on OP community. I mean what's the point of releasing an update if it's gonna be full of bugs? I would have rather waited and be on Pie until it was actually stable.
And it's not like OP7 Pro is a year old device or something. It's just six months. And if they **** something up in an update, you're gonna have to deal with it for two months because apparently their policy says bimonthly updates.
Well, I guess 7T is their priority. They have released 6 updates for it since it launched and doesn't give a rat's ass about OP7 Pro. And also, 5G users are getting it in Q2020. That's sad too.
did you deactivate all magisk mods before update id grab a fastboot file to flash erase the -w out the bat file and flash it will fix ive had no issues with 10

I don't have any issues.
Would me lying about it make you feel better?

Or you can just ignore the post if you don't have any issues Tons of people have issue, and it's from reading all over the forums, reddit, xda and op community and from my own experience. So there's that.

Question Is it possible to reinstall a factory image?

Hello XDA!
First of all, long time lurker, but infrequent poster here. My phone is an Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro running stock and non-beta software and is not rooted. I am reaching out to see if anyone on here who has more technical savvy than me (which is probably most of y'all) can help me figure out how to reinstall a fresh factory image on my Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro or can offer any other possible solutions for my issue.
The reason I am wanting to do this is because I recently installed a software update from Asus that seems to have a persistent issue that is a pretty major problem to me. The issue is that whenever I reboot the phone and plug in headphones and audio plays, but it stutters and BLASTS out of the headphones (multiple sources tried, even happens with system notification sounds). This only happens with wired headphones and never with Bluetooth. I had this happen to me once for less than a half a second and my ears were persistently ringing for about 3+ hours after this and I am certain that it damaged my hearing to a small degree. Because of this I no longer trust to use any headphones with the phone and this is a huge bummer because I use wired headphones A LOT.
I have tried to factory reset the phone several times already and the issue persists through without any restoring of anything during setup (in fact it won't recognize the backup that it created the day before the factory reset), but the issue is still present. I contacted Asus customer support (for which lets just say I have strong feelings on) and explained the issue and they want me to RMA the phone for a hardware issue.
I really do not wish to do this as this means I will have to either switch phones a few times which is always incredibly time consuming or be without a phone for an estimated period of up to 10 days if I do the RMA. I also disagree that this is a hardware issue because of two things: 1) if it were a hardware issue then I would think that the problem would be constant and not happen just once after each reboot and I would think that doing something in the software, i.e. a reboot, wouldn't consistently recreate the problem. Thus I am trying to find a way to "restore" the operating system of this device to see if I can solve what I believe to be a software issue that shouldn't require any RMA.
I have seen that posts that linked official files from Asus before, such as the "AsusUnlock_1.0.0.7_210127_fulldpi.apk" found in the OP of the "Install any custom ROM on ROG Phone 5 / 5s (GSI)" thread here in this very forum. Is anyone aware of any officially sourced files for stock software/firmware for this phone and a process through which I could reinstall it?
I am also open to thoughts and other possible options to consider.
Also I will give bonus points to anyone who can help me figure out how to fix the issue where my Google backup by this very same phone won't restore its own Google backup when going through the setup and can help me restore it. It does recognize a different Google backup for a tablet that is set up for my child to use, so it is not an issue with the restore being completely broken.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to try and lend a hand.

Yeah, just for additional info for anyone who finds this. I've also been working with ASUS customer support. I was given two links on flashing official firmware:
Unofficial guide on flashing - https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1009748/
Official firmware images - https://rog.asus.com/phones/rog-phone-5s-pro-model/helpdesk_bios (same as previous comment above; thanks Teddy)
When I asked why my version is newer than any they currently have listed on the site I was told that it "could be a preview release given directly by Google" (I doubt this as this appeared as an official OTA by Asus that had very specific patch notes to this phone in it) and that because my version is newer than any listed on their site would result in trouble if I tried to flash the newest version listed, but an older firmware than what is currently installed and that I should still just RMA my phone.
For reference my current firmware is RKQ1.210303.002.WW_Phone-18.1220.2201.186 and the latest firmware listed on their site at the time of this writing is WW-18.1220.2111.164.
Great phone (aside from the hearing damage), but utterly useless support.
Still open to thoughts and ideas though if anyone still has any.
You can "downgrade" your firmware by doing a RAW flash directly to version you need OR to any lower version and then install the official ASUS version you want manually. Also need to disable OTA updates to avoid being updated to the latest automatically.
Having the device checked for hardware issues is probably the best idea however.

Could you provide more info on this "downgrade" via "a RAW flash"? Is there a guide or something that will give more info about this?
I think I might be screwed though for the RMA. Customer service says apparently its a Taiwan version and cannot be serviced in the USA and has to be sent to via Taiwan RMA and the page they gave me seems to indicate there are no service centers for ROG Phones; see https://www.asus.com/support/service-center/taiwan#.
Short rant is that I literally spent hours and I mean HOURS (if not possibly days) of my time with Asus customer service and searching online trying to find a US version with US warranty and ultimately getting nowhere and deciding to go with the one I have now. Four months in to a $1700 phone and basically I am stuck with a dangerous headphone jack and no option to fix it other than maybe what you mentioned, Andrologic.
Today has not been kind.

There are links to download RAW images along with guides in the help thread pinned to the top of this forum. You should find what you need there. The RAW's come include flash scripts that does it all for you.
Just curious for opinions while this thread is still going:
Does anyone lean towards my issue being a hardware problem or something else (and if you could be specific and suggest something for me to try about it)?
The reason why I ask is because I personally feel like this is an issue with when the headphone jack initializes output or something because it only ever blasts audio after a reboot and I any audio plays. After it stops and plays again the levels seems to return to normal. I can also reliably make this happen the same way every single time. Finally (and somewhat conspiratorially), the update I installed just before this started to happen had patch notes that included "optimized audio parameters."
My appreciation in advance for any thoughts and insights.
