Newbie with my o2 xda II, how it work ?

Hello,
I am a Newbie in both o2 xda II and pocket pc ...
I just would like some links on technicals documentation
on those devices:
How it work ?
Is there a boot process ?
what is a hard reset ?
what is the rom, is there some windows inside ?
I don't search for documentation on how to use my pocket pc,
I really search how it work:
I would like to install linux on this device for exemple, but I am would like to know if I can go back on the windows system after.
I am not afraid to lose my configuration or my personal data on this device. But they don't give me a re-install software for windows, so if I install linux, how I can swich back ?
As I said, I am a Newbie on those device, and so, I see the device as a computer and I know this is wrong,
Can you help me or give me some links ?

well first time you start it yes and if you do a reset

it's clearing the memory == everything in ram not rom

rom is read only memory, when you get the device there is a version of windows in the rom

there is a linux which will install on the xda but i doubt that it's fully functional and pretty much for developers who like to mess around

i would asume that you could reflash your device so it would be windows once more unless something broke or got soo corrupted then you had to JTAG it back to health
if you dont feel you know much about these devices i would advice you leave it as it is or get somebody else to help you or learn a lot first

Help: Cannot use software that require .net compact 2.0

I've install .net compact framework 2.0 in my XDA neo (lastest WM5 Dopod ROM AKU2.0).
Once, I install the program that require the .net, it cannot be open and have an error message like this:
An unexpected error has ocuured in
xxxxxx.exe
Select Quit and then restart this
program, or select details for more
information.
But, when I boot in safemode (by SPB pocketplus plugin) I can open that program correctly without any error!!!
It cannot be used in normal mode but it can be in safemode.
I've tried both install the .net in SD card or in Device, but the results are the same.
Could anyone help me? What's wrong on my device or anybody have the same problem like me?

First, it would help if you click 'details' and tell us what you see.
From what you wrote it is clear that the problem is not with CF 2 but with the particular app conflicting with one of the programs your device runs on start up.
What kind of plugins / utilities do you have that run in background? Try removing them one by one to see where the problem lies.
Also if you have a backup of your data, try hard resetting then installing on a clean device.

About HR, I plan to do it again this weekend. And I will install .net CF first then this program and test, and I will install each program after and test one by one. But, if it possible I want to know what's a problem before I do that.

What language is your device in?
This error sometimes occurs on regional settings that are not originally supported by the device.
Try changing you regional settings to English and see if it goes away.

if i wan to view chinese leh?
coz if i din change the region to chinese,
when i play chinese file name in coreplayer.. it will show @*&#$#...

Activesync for Vista

hie guys!
i need your help urgently!!!
I am just got another pc using vista, but i encountered a problem during installing activesync 4.5. When i wanted to run the program, it came out a warning windows saying that the program is block by due to certain reason, and it offer me solve it by downloading a program from a windows web. tried to download it and install it, but still the same problem occurs.
Anyone could help me to solve this??
Another problem, is there any solution if i use mac, and wanted to upgrade my rom from mac? thanks in advance...

for Vista you need Microsofts Mobile Device Center

^^ He's right and by default (On most Vista Machines) it should be already installed. So just try to plug in your phone and it should detect and install automatically.

Thats right starmena, but with the standard software that comes with Vista, you just can access your files on the Phone and the storage card. You are not able to install apps and sync your contacts, emails, and stuff.

i agreed with some of the reply, the one that is pre-installed on the vista, cant use it to upgrade rom and other. is there any solution to it?

Urgent HELP needed!!

Well I am using HTC Tytn with Windows Mobile 6.1. But I want to check out android on it. So before installing android, i want to send all my contact list to my laptop. When I connect my phone to my system through activesync, i get this error : support code 80072efd.

[Q] Issue with something

Hey all, I could use a little help I'm new to this stuff. I installed the Android SDK all correctly with the correct Java JDK and for some reason when I create a virtual android and run it I get "Error Loading Preferences", is there any way I can fix this to get it to work? I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64-Bit (if you needed to know), thank you for your time and help in advanced.
