[Q] Themes for Rubix 1.9.7? - Droid X Themes and Apps

Rubix focused 1.9.7 is my first rom and I love it. It is working beautifully so I plan to stay on it for awhile. I would like to try some themes. I have found themes on the forums for 1.9. 5. Are they compatible with 1.9.7 or must I wait for updates? I have searched many threads with no answer, sorry if I am repeating and thanks for any info!

Check out Crystal X by Bignadad, it is one of the most thorough themes you will find... I have been testing this for him for a while, and it is quite a theme if I do say so myself...

Rubix 1.9.7 themes
Thanks! - the blue is definitely on the possible list. I'm also waiting to found out if any of the ones for 1.9. 5. Are compatible. I like to do my research first because flashing still makes me nervous. I've only done it once and I had a few detours on the way. I have all my backups but rather not use them

goto Droidforums.net and search for wugs theme port. Its a program you can download thats super easy to use that will port any theme to any rom, well almost. I used it to port Pink Life to 1.9.7 for my girlfriends X and she hasn't had any instability issues so far. This really is a good rom imho. If it was my phone I'd try em all but shes happy with it and thats what she'll be staying at.
If you have any issues just shoot me a pm with a link to the theme you want ported and I can do it for you!

Rubix 1.9.7 themes
I'm completely new to rooting /romming. I am now on my first rom rubix 1.9. 7 and am likely to stay on it for awhile. It runs well and flashing still makes me nervous. I would like to theme and I understand @the porter but for the first time I would like one that is directly compatible with the rom. I have seen a few I like that are compatible for 1.9. 5 but not many listed for 1.9. 7. Are the ones for the earlier version of rubix oK for the 1.9. 7? I can't seem to find the answer to that through browsing the theme threads or on threads @Rubix. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the generous offer- I'm new to the forums and the people are helpful! I downloaded the porter and I'm sure I will try it since I've seen non Rubix themes that I've liked. Because this whole thing is new to me I think I'd like to try a compatible theme for my first try. Then I think I'll feel easier about the whole thing. Honestly, when I bought the phone 2 months ago I NEVER I would of even dared to root my phone. Of course I had no idea what rooting was!LOL! Who knows 2 months from now I might be changing roms and themes regularly!
Thanks again for the offer and I might take you up on the help soon.

Bluetopia port (Theme Request)

So as we all love the roms in this forum I stumble upon this rom set. I would like to see these ported to our Dinc phones as I think the themes absolutely kick ass. I like them both however I would love to see the Bluetopia ported. Here is the link to check out what I am talking about. I fsomeone can do this a considerable donation would be coming from myself. Although I am sure donations would come from many on this one.

Porting the rom would be ridiculous, especially considering some of it is broken and would be too much work making it functional for the incredible. If it is just the theme you want, that's easy to pull, but I'm downloading it right now to take a look at it.
That is correct. I would like that theme. but I would like to see it cooked into a rom you know. Please let me kow once you have looked at it. Cheers...

Whether it is just ported over as a theme to be flashed/metamorphed or its "cooked" into a rom, it is the same. a flashable theme is much more convenient, since you are only replacing files in your current system, as opposed to wiping and starting over just to gain different aesthetics in the same exact rom, and having to go through the annoying process of setting back up again for basically nothing. Right now, I am about to try it on SR 3.3.3 and see how it goes, then in Desire Z rom. If all goes well, I'll post it in the themes section and let you know, otherwise I will post failure here and let you know if it isn't working lol.
Well for the most part, in SR 3.3.3 it seemed to work. Everything functioned and almost all of the theme elements were there. But it was definitely incomplete. For one, most incredible roms incorporate smooth sense icons. The theme does not have this since it is from the desire, so that creates an issue because only 5 of the 100 battery icons were themed lol. same with the sync icon. For some reason the signal bars did not change even though I ported the com.htc.resources also. I think a couple system apps did not theme (People app for sure, not sure what others) and the dockbar was espresso style but did not have the themes color. I'm sure there were other missing elements but as it stands, this will become too much work for me to correct, especially since more people will want it on different roms, which means porting and troubleshooting those as well.
Thanks for your attempt. If I may ask one request can you please post the Expresso bar and lockscreen with the black clock in an update.zip form. Those are the 3 elements that i would really like to have. I appreciate it once again.
Cheers,
Shokouhi

[WIP/DEV/ROM] MIUI ROM! Pngs finished! Calling All Devs! (12-22-10)

This is a port of the MIUI rom to our mdpi devices. We need help to get this ROM running on our lower end devices (ie: Hero, G1, Magic, etc). Please PM alexthearmo if you are willing to help in any way!
Update 12/22/10: We are officially done porting every single png in every apk to be compatible with our phones (mdpi). This has been a huge undertaking and many people were involved: ehac1680, alexthearmo, neilege, andronut, dannybiker, moxlon69, asadullah, and jpool81 (if I forgot you, please PM me). Unfortunately, this project is now beyond our capabilities. Now that the tedious work is done, we need some Devs who are willing to get these APKs to run on our devices. I am posting a link to the new mdpi MIUI apks, so that any willing DEV can take this project to the next level. PLEASE don't let this project be abandoned! It is now in the hands of the community/devs!
Here are the MDPI MIUI APKS. <-----These are all the apk files that are found in the MIUI ROM.
Credits: A detailed list of who did which apks
If you are interested in learning more about the MIUI rom, check out the following links!
MIUI ROM in action: MIUI VIDEO
Read about the latest MIUI update here: MIUI UPDATE
And here's a link to the ROM for any DEVS who want to look at it and help port: MIUI ROM DOWNLOAD <--- Don't Flash! This ROM has the old (hdpi) apks. If you want the new (mdpi) ones, download them from the top of the OP.
Keep this thread positive and proactive and soon enough we'll have a sweet ROM! Thanks for a great community!
God bless!
.
I literally screamed when I read this title!!!! OMG!!! This is very good news and I'm excited to see how it's works and I'll glad test it too.
Good luck with this devs! I'm useless here!

It should. They said it makes the Nexus One process 3 times faster than stock android. That's a crazy speed boost, so it should be the same for us as well. You can read about it in the article I recently posted to the bottom of the original post.
I pm'ed bnice about this since he mentioned that he could get the kernel running for the hero, and I have a ton of experience with porting pngs. But I haven't heard back, I might have to signup at miui to get his attention.
What do you guys think should I per-sue this? I run miui on my evo now and I need a reason to mess with the hero again.

Over clocking and optoes can very alot between cpu's while I think it would run on the hero just fine, I would expect it to be very comparable to other AOSP roms.

YES! Please Pursue! We need the help. I just downloaded the newest MIUI rom to check out the files...but I'm dreading doing the 9.pngs. I am so slow at them, and I've only really worked with them twice before.
Here...download the latest ROM and check it out. If you have a lot of experience, it'll help make the process so much faster. We would LOVE the help! http://code.google.com/p/d1-miui/downloads/detail?name=D1-MIUI-0.11.26.1.zip&can=2&q
Let me know!
My theme porter could probably do a substantial amount of the png porting with some small tweaks to it. Alex tell me if you need anything I'll follow your lead on this.
EDIT:
I check the out tonight and see if I can't convert every png (even the 9 patch's) tonight. I'll check back

Awesome! If you need help with the pngs let me know (though, I don't have very much time right now...it's finals time for college). I don't know how to do any of the kernel, or xml stuff...I just know how to work with pngs, 9.pngs, and a TINY bit of HEX editing...so we need people like you involved with the project.
Do you know how to do all the other fancy stuff? (ie: compiling, getting a rom to work on our hardware, etc)?

CM7 Themes

Just wondering if there's any CM7 themes out yet besides DarkGinger. I'm looking for something red really, but was looking for some options besides DarkGinger. About to flash my first CM7 and I just have the need for a theme to it =]
Not really, I think it's a lot to ask of the themers with the CM7 builds in such a state of flux. I wouldn't expect to see any decent themes until CM stabilizes a bit. I doubt anyone could keep up to the CM7 team with sometimes twice daily builds.
That said, you do realize that they're building in a theme chooser to CM7 right? It's in it's early stages, but it's in the latest builds.
-R
I did read about the theme chooser. Which just makes it all the more valid. If there's a theme chooser, couldn't people make themes for that? I am loading #10 now to check things out, but I just generally don't like my phone unless it's themed. I usually prefer red, but I just got a new case for my phone that has blue flames on the back, so even a blue one might work for me right now...... =]

Oh, definitely. I think you'll just have to wait for the creative guys to catch up. Kind of hard to develop though for a target that's moving as fast as CM7 is.
I will add that if the themes thing is a showstopper for you, you'll probably be somewhat disappointed by CM7's support at this point. It's definitely in it's early iterations.
-R
I ran one of the stable CM6's and it had FC's within minutes of first boots, so I quickly abandoned it. I've been running CM7 for a few hours already and only FC was from a different market I flashed. Restored and all has been well. Typically I'm a Sense guy, but I'm liking how snappy my DInc is with CM7. Battery life will be the real test, but so far, so good.

Interesting. 6.1 final was probably one of the most stable ROM's I've run. Still holding a nandroid of it "just in case". Even with that one though I couldn't find a theme I really liked. Like you I really don't like the stock phone experience.

How do you add new themes?

Like I only have HTC themes.
I see that some people have really unique themes.
I want it. Can anyone help me?

Check out the Miui Rom, has a theme manager which makes switching themes very easy, although from browsing around Nick's link above, i may have to look into Ultimate Droid
Nick, are you currently running ultimate droid on your inspire? if you are, what kernel/radio are you using and have you had any issues?

Just perm rooted. what now?

I just rooted my phone a few days ago and am kind of overwhelmed with all of the different possibilities. I have cm7.2 running perfectly and have overclocked my phone to around 1.5 ghz. I want to make my shift have the look and feel of a galaxy s2 for a week or two now. I really like the widgets, icons, and just overall appeal. Plus, rooting has got me feeling adventurous. so, any ideas?
I'd suggest trying stone different roms out. My old standby is supreme sense (sense2.1 + 3.0). Ben using it since our came out and always end up going back. Newsense (sense 2.1) is kickass. You could try ICS. I was always a big fan of MIUI due to all the customizations. There is so much I'd say just dive in. Try em out one by one. There's even u.k.e. as well as all the new stuff posted by like joy os and coredroid. It will really just come down to personal preference. And if you really can't choose which to try first just go right down the list lol
If you like the setup you're on now and don't want to change, try searching for a cm7 theme. I'm sure there is a touchwiz theme somewhere.

Well, I looked for a touchwiz theme and couldn't really find anything. But, I did find find a post on SinfulAndroid about getting Galaxy-ish widgets. These don't have that feel that I'm looking for, though, so wasn't really useful.

Thanks for everybody's advice and help. But after a day's worth of browsing around the forums and trying everything I could, I think I have something I'll be happy with, for a while at least.
