What's the best app to use the LED as a torch? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive done a bit of searching through the market but can only find apps that use the screen as a torch.
Any recommendations? Thanks

me using [APP] Widgetsoid2.x

or you can go for Tesla LED
i prefer everything in 1 app, less wasted space, faster phone

TeslaLED. Perfect. Thanks!

Using the LED, dosen't it increase the chance of the Led getting spoiled?

Anyone run across any new LED apps since this was posted? I cannot overstate the usefulness of a good LED torch app.

Torch from CM7 works fine.

I use TeslaLED, works great. I noticed that it lags turning on from the homescreen widget compared to G2, but it's not the end of the world.

did you expect to not use it in the case of it breaking? Why have it at all then?

I use Nexus One LED flashlight. It's about 80k, Tesla is closer to 350k. I don't like bloated apps...

+1 for Allgamer's recommendation of Widgetsoid 2.x. That app replaced like 3 other dedicated apps for me (LED torch, battery meter, power control).

Anyone else?

TeslaLED or Torch (Comes with CM7)

I've switched to using widgetsoid. I have one widget on the homescreen with battery, ram, and torch. Another on different homescreen with a few toggles.

I use LED Light. It has a widget that you can put on yyour home screen. That is if you want an app that does one thing and one thing well.

Widgetsoid... u can use it for other purpose as well...

I use the SwitchPro widgets. One switch Flashlight on/off. Very useful...

for me it replaced at least 9 different widgets
in total it shaved off 15 apps from my phone

I like using TeslaLED in combination with widget locker...allows you to use the flashlight from the lockscreen.

I use nexus tourch love the high brightness

Any one of these have variable brightness settings? When I had my HD7 the ability to choose between 3 levels, low medium and high, was awesome sauce.

Power Control Widget

Would it be possible to get an apk for the power control widget from CM 6 and use it on my myTouch?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Not sure if it's possible to rip that from CM 6, but...
"Extended Controls" from the market is an awesome replacement for the power control widget. It lets you have up to 7 controls and everything is fully customizable.

I know that the standard power widget is on the mT4G, but what I'm looking for is CM 6's Power Control Widget. It is far more functional due to expanded capabilities.
And @CyberStorm98: Thanks so much for the recommendation! That is exactly what I was looking for! I will be using this until we get some Cyanogen love onto our phones.

AFAIK its part of the settings apk... good luck... even if you got it it wouldn't survive reboot...
That's not to say dont try... but that's my guess at what the outcome will be

Yeah... I'm not going to mess with that!!! I have no problem bricking my Magic. This phone is a little too new to be trying unknown things with! I'm going to stick with the market replacements until we get Cyanogen support. I don't have the stomach to mess with my phone without a nandroid.
I use SwitchPro from the market. It costs a couple of bucks but it's ultra customizable. Transparency, colors, tons of functions. Highly recommended.

On the comments people are saying every time you press a button an annoying add pops up that keeps telling you to buy. If that's the case I'll keep the one that came with the phone.

Love the fact that we have something for MIUI with out buying an app.
Made by the same people that make ripple lock. Both replacements have very good graphically, but they need to learn that root users need to ability to NOT to disable lockscreen, as this is a stupid way to bypass the stock lockscreen, as Tesla the Guy who made widget locker figured out, and uses root to bypass the stock lockscreen which is better.
Tesla has stated he's going to add sense 3.0 replica style lock, but don't know when he will do it

Not for me it works great with cm7.1 RC1 i love this i used miui for a couple of weeks and i loved this lockscreen but had to come back to cm7 because how much faster and stable it was (also i love that you can change the shortcuts!
The developer of this app annoys me. He always updates his free version before he updates the paid version, he did this with ripple lock as well.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
I can't seem to disable the default lock so this one is only used as well as power button not waking. tried with a fresh wipe and flash install.these are effecting cm7 nightly 146 with Chad's 6/19 kernel with aggressive undervolt.
Did you disable lock screen in CM settings>tablet tweaks?
forgot about that.that worked once I disabled the poweramp lock widget which also enabled the system lock. that's all good but the power button doesn't do squat while it's locked
I haven't used the app, but it sounds like something that may need to be fixed with it, unless there's some setting for the lockscreen app that you need to change.
Multiple people are complaining about the power button problem both on xda and the market reviews. I emailed the developer about it but no response. The app is very similar to the developers on ripple lock. GREAT potential he just needs to work on it. I hope teslacoil releases a new WL with the sense 3.0 lockscreen soon, I like widgetlocker

Some issues I've run into

Overall I'm definitely loving this phone
One thing I've noticed is that in a dark room this phone is ridiculously bright on auto
And that the high level of brightness are causing a little bit of color washout
Swype worked initially, I switched keyboards and then switched back now it shows up half the size it should be
(Another thing I hadn't realized is how many apps wouldn't be coded for ics yet, looking for native ics app suggestions)
(Also is there a way to make the battery in the notification bar have a percentage)
Is anyone else having these issues?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I agree with you on the brightness. Once we have the bootloader unlocked there are ways to change the auto brightness sensitivity. Same with the battery %.
The swype issue is an issue with the swype beta. I have already posted on their forums reporting the bug.
As for apps, they're being updated for ICS slowly but surely. Be patient

Btw you see the thread about a possible perma root method being found?
Any good alternative swype like keyboards found?

No I haven't seen that thread.
Swype alternatives? Nothing is quite the same as Swype, but Swiftkey X is pretty damn good for standard touch typing.
Idk I just find it surprising that even huge apps ex. Facebook haven't been updated yet. Then again barely any devices have ics so......

Actually the default keyboard is swipe enabled. I actually like it better because the auto correct seems to be more accurate. It had its flaws but it is great for swipe and touch typing whereas swype sucks for touch typing.

Just an fyi, if you use notification toggles, you get not only the toggles but you can also set the app icon in the status bar to show battery with percent . It's kinda a bandaid for now but it works for me till we can get some custom Rom goodness.

noticed that the facebook app (the blue for example looks really light to me)
which is weird, but then again other apps have darker blues
anyone elses facebook app (across the top bar) look like brighter then it should?

[app] brightness apps

Been several posts in Q&A, and in general about best methods for adjusting brightness. Personally I like the slider in the notification tray, but the app Q Bright is by far the best app I've used for this purpose. Full slider, 4 customizable presets, full app customizations, fast acting, oh yeah, it's free.
Thought I'd share.
It's actually Qbright one word
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
I like screen filter. It's free as well. It can make the screen go dimmer than with the notification slider. Q bright is pretty cool too. Wish I had a search key to long press to bring it up though haha

I've been using Lux for awhile now and it's been working great.
I also use lux, but everytime i reboot i have to open the dash to get it to work. I have the notification icon active, which always says for some reason 50% after boot until I click it. Lux works with tasker and i like that for profiling.
<quick hijack>I've been on the hunt for a widget I can pop in my homescreen that will jump between preset brightness levels. I generally keep my phone around 5% or so but when I'm outside I can't see that. I can pull down the notifications and adjust the slider but a button on my homescreen is much easier.
This one works pretty well but the icon doesn't center properly and my ocd brain can't take it. Plus sometimes it will just jump between 30%-100%...No idea why.
Sorry for derailing the thread
</hijack>
Saw that too, I couldn't deal with the off center widget either. I mean seriously, wtf? Who wants that on their screen?

the best app I have ever used for adjusting screen brightness and saving your battery would be LUX. It is in the Market for free but the paid options are far worth it.

I agree. This is what I've been using for.months and love it! It allows you to set custom presets based on the current luxury, which you can use the default reader or even use the camera to detect. I use default, and set customs by long pressing the link button on the luxury widget.

Need widgets suggestions.

I am looking for a simple weather and also a switch widget which does not consume a lot of RAM. I have tried a few of the more popular widgets available through the play store but they're either not very customizeable or too power hungry.
I'm currently using Google Now for my primary weather updates, but it does not look aesthetically pleasing.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a weather and a switch widget?
The CM11 clock/weather widget does quite well. I been using it on AOKP ever since it's been implemented in CM. As for a switch widget I just use the built in power control widget with a transparent background.
Swyped from my LG Nexus 5 using XDA premium.

LTE/4G widget for stock nexus 5
Is there widget for quick switch LTE/4G on and off for stock roms? All apps in play store just open mobile networks settings. My runtime is ART, so xposed does not work, if i am right?
I use widgetsoid, been around for ages, quite simple but does the job. Have mine on my quick drawer of action launcher.
No complaints.

Eye in the sky weather widget looks the best imo. It has pretty decent customization options too. As for switches...not sure, I don't use any.
