Updated to 2.4.330 - Droid 2 Global General

Ok since i have updated to 2.4.330 on my phone, seems like my pandora only works about 1 song and it closes.. it never did on the previous version or custom rom.. anyone else have that issue with it? any fixes or suggestions

I would recommend you to try two things:
1) Do a hard reset and see if pandora starts functioning normal after fresh start;
2) Flash 2.4.29 SBF and and do not update to 2.4.330

where to get 2.4.29 sbf?
will flashing to previous sbf, make the VZ unlock code work?
i received one but i update it via OTA before entering the code - failed

2.4.29 SBF is here:
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...id-2-global-sbf-file-2-4-29-full-rsdlite.html
Successful SIM unlocking is permanent; changing the ROM shouldn't affect whether or not the subsidy code works, then again you never know.. Verizon have meddled with this phone so much
For what it's worth, in terms of GSM operation, I've found the older 2.4.29 more reliable and stable.

I concur. For GSM/UMTS users - 2.4.29 is the way to go.

I am a newbie.
What are the steps to flashing to 2.4.29 rom?
Sorry.

Download the 2.4.29 SBF file from the link I posted in post #4, and use RSD Lite (easily found with a google) to flash your phone.

Thanks for your reply.
Do I need to root my Droid 2 Global to flash the firmware?
Also I tried to download from the link you ask but I am unable to download from megaupload.com from Hong Kong.
The mirror link also didn't work for me.
Can someone please post the firmware on another server?

No, you don't need root to flash the sbf. You only need root for the 3rd party rom managers (e.g. to install Fission)
Which file upload site can you access?

Anybody else having problems with the new update using GSM?
Did someone report this issue to Verizon? I am not a Verizon customer so I dont think i could do it but in order to have this issue fixed in the next update, someone will have to report it.

I flashed to 2.4.29 rom. Do I need to do a hard reset or factory restore after the flash?

Typically yes; you need to wipe cache when reverting from 2.4.33. Data is generally not a problem.

I tried to report it to Motorola. Got a suggestion that lead me to believe d2g "band lock" thing might be the culpirt. Damned Verizon! Oh well...

Wipe cache means factory reset? Is there a way that I don't lose my data? I mean I don't want to lose my e-mails etc.

But why would Verizon want to have a faulty reception on the gsm bands on purpose?
You went back to stock, right? Is it any better now in terms of signal availability or it is the same as after updating the firmware?

[Q] Think I totally messed up my phone after attempting root, can someone plz help?

Hey guys, I think I messed up my phone after trying to root. My wifi doesn't work (it won't connect to wifi at all, constantly pings the network and tries to establish IP but never connects) and whenever I try to dial from my contacts, it crashes.
Can someone please help?
I was thinking of maybe doing a full wipe, clear all caches and hope for the best. Any other ideas?
Thanks

Thanks! Which SBF image should I use?
Depends on which version you were on before. If you were running 4.5.629, then use it.
If 4.5.608 or any previous version, any image will work, but I don't recommend flashing 4.5.629 if you want to retain the ability to flash back to any prior version.

Hi, I'm trying to do this today and after 3 attempts, I keep getting this message:
"error switching phone to BP Pass through mode (0x70BE)"
Any ideas?
UPDATE:
I was able to solve that error message by using info in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289622
But now, I'm in the bootloader screen?

Thanks, my phone was on 608 so I tried this but the 608 SBF caused my phone to go get stuck at the bootloader. Then, I had to use this method to unbrick it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701862&highlight=unbrick
And it's unbricked but my wifi still won't connect?
Any ideas?
Apparently you didn't install the 4.5.629 OTA update.

By trying to follow those instructions, you've probably updated your phone's bootloader to the one that will only load the 4.5.629 firmware. Flashing the 4.5.608 SBF is no longer an option for you. Your best bet at this point is to use this information from another thread:

Thanks to phifc and the method he posted at
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/29930-new-root-method-for-stock-234-621622-found-droid2-r2d2/
we have an improved method available to root the D2G, and no longer need to brick our phones (presuming all goes well) in order to root them. Since there is now a direct rooting method of .629 available, I put it together with an EzSbf style CD of the full .629 SBF.
One item of note with this CD, it does require at least 1GB of RAM in order to work properly. Also, if you only have 1GB of memory, and you need to both SBF and root your phone, it will be necessary to reboot the computer after flashing the .629 SBF. If you are unsure of the amount of RAM that you have, go ahead and reboot to be on the safe side.
The CD is available at
https://rapidshare.com/files/2650843793/D2G_4.5.629_SBF-and-RootCD.iso
and the MD5 is

There are more detailed instructions in this thread, but you'll need to use the CD image linked in the quote above, rather than the one in that thread.

Blur_Version.67.220.3.ME865.Retail.en.05
Ok, so I downloaded my firmware (67.220.3.ME865.Retail.en.05) from here, http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=17, and it is in tar.gz format. I can extract the files, run RSD Lite choosing "default_flash.xml", in RSD Lite it shows the whole process as being completed, but zero changes are made. I have yet to fin anything in zip format, if it matters. As a noob I assume i am still doing something wrong. So, for now I just flashed the ATT 67.21.125.MB865.ATT.en.us to it to get CM11 on. It worked fine with no issues. Currently setup as multiboot.

DirtySanta wont be able to be changed to fix a block. it relies on the dirtyCow exploit and if that gets blocked theres no fixing. When someone WHO IS ROOTED. gets the update notification please pm me that way i can go through the file and install it to my device.(same way i did the zv5 base) and ill get a ZV6 base going.
Word of notice too all. IF you try to install the update while rooted you will get a TWRP loop. The Fix for that is all over so please dont bug me for a fix.....

I have stock backups using flashfire..
But the baseband issue come from flashing a gsm rom or a aosp rom. Im not sure witch efs partition is radio only but i have them backed up.. If you look for my guide on how to manually program this will get those items to come back without flashing radios.
Flash my stock rom or the one from dirty santa..
Then follow the instructions to get to manual program. Youll need to go to sprint.com and get ur msl or ask care and say you need it to do a full reset using ##786# / you may also need to flash a asop rom again and toggle your network mode back to rusim or ull have to use cdma workshop to change.
As well as for your msid so you can program it.
The nam config got changed from rium to nv only and breaks ur efs connection. The prl probably is 162 also on your phone so you'll need to grab the latea 56021 prl also to flash.
Theres a ton of good info on that post and the adjoining one to it for fixing this issue.
Id need assistance in what parts of my efs backup i can use as parts contain my imei and msid etc and will booloader brick your device trying to restore my esn as well as error code my device for being cloned.
Some has to have the zv6 ota in their fota directory by now.. Humm.. I personally havent seen it but sheesh..

Yes, it probably will. If you are that worried about it, backup your data first. Odin will work even with the bootloader locked. Locked bootloader does not prevent you from loading official firmware.

You have to go in odin and select PDA and then add the entire md5 file! If you don't want to do it that way, then you have to download a zipping app like 7z or similar and create the .tar yourself.. Which is pointless unless you're planning on flashing 1 file like the boot.img for a reason or other.. The md5 file has all of the files that need to be flashed there's no need to unzip the files. Just flash as is!
If you're downloading from the OP then you need to unzip the file from the .zip because you can only flash .md5 or .tar.

Is it an actual Verizon phone? And do you know for sure that it's Verizon? Go into settings then about phone and tell me what model it says. If it says other than SM-N920V then it's not a Verizon one.. You can only flash firmware for a specific carrier.. Also check the APN settings too.. And about the modem no you don't have to use the same exact one from the same firmware version you can try a different one however I don't think that'll fix the problem.. Try checking the APN settings first.. Also if you just dropped a sim card into it without first giving Verizon the IMEI then it's not gonna work! You'll have to give them the IMEI and if the IMEI is bad the phone will never work at least not with Verizon.

It is indeed n920v clean imei through verizon prepaid. It gets apn through SIM card which is accurate I have signal T all times and internet/mms work. However when I boot my phone or randomly every so often it will say 'searching for service' throughout the day while still full having signal. During this time I don't receive calls/messages/internet notifications and it is stuck that way until I notice it and dial my voicemail which it then displays "Verizon wireless" and then all notifications come through.

Maybe try using this downgraded version from my Android File Host and flash it using odin but before flashing take the sim card out and after it's done flashing immediately do a factory reset by holding the power and volume down button and after the screen turns off and then back on select shut down and then boot into recovery and do the factory reset after it's finished put the sim card back in then turn it on and go through all the setup and see if it works.. Let the phone charge some first don't try doing this at 3% battery cause if it shuts down in the middle it can brick the phone. Not likely but it could.

also wifi calling is nowhere to be found under call settings. It seems like I don't have the setting on this version? thoughts
Don't bother pal, stick with the official rom, I had this same issue best option is to just stick with the same variant as your phone, might not be latest but it works good. FYI I have g710emw and was using g710em rom

You are probably right. What a pain to have to flash again and go back?
How are you guys backing up so that you just restore to the same phone you had without having to set up everything again?

I didn't restore, I tried out the rom first, and then just wiped it. What broke it for me was the wifi mac address somehow became lost while using it, maybe some software glitch only by flashing the same variant was I able to restore it.
Best to root and then backup and restore

Hey there, how do you do this KDZ with refurbish option? Will this mean flashing again anyways?
I was hoping that by now the official android 10 version from LG would be out for the unlocked 10ulm, but it seems that they will never update this phone for some reason. This was the Google Fi unlocked G7.
Suggestions please. Thanks

Thanks for replying.
I noticed you are the leader of the other thread I posted, so I will ask here so not to bug you too much
Will the choosing of refurbish option erase the serial or IMEI or anything else that I should be aware of?
Also, when you say flash again you mean using the canadian version correct? I was wondering about the Korean version vs the canadian and what advantage would there be in any.
If you could, please lead me to the instructions to flash again. When I did it, I used a guide from some dude on youtube and I can't find that again.
Also, read somewhere that the error at boot could be fixed by rooting and then changing something with the explorer app. Not sure if that is worth it. I just hate backing up and restoring to find I am logged out of most every app and all settings have to be set up again. It takes me hrs and I am not that technically savvy as you guys.
Thanks for your time and have a good evening.

Flash with the kdz you used before, Canadian firmware is better than Korean. In lgup select refurbish instead of partition dl. It won't tamper with your IMEI and you will loose all your data
Hi dapolicy,
I am done with the LG G7ULM since it will never be updated officially.
I really like having the fingerprint sensor on the back and it seems that the LG G8 is the last iteration of phones from LG with this feature and it is an upgrade from the G7.
It is cheap here in the US.
Which version of this phone should I look for? I will be using it on Mint Mobile, so an unlocked one sounds great and all, but then you see what happened to the G7 ULM that never got android 10 unless it was tied to a carrier.
So, what do you suggest I do so I can get the next couple of updates for android with the G8?
Thanks man!

If the firehose was available for the Wing/Velvet you can hex the FTM and fix the NT Code on the Wing. You can try the engineering service menu, but I highly doubt the IMPL is 0 under MID.
