I doubt, my experience with bberry was that it always runs one to two versions behind after they release the phone.
Nevertheless, checking up the ATT, after a tip at Boy Genius website, visited the support page that shows how to update from I897UCJF6 to I897UCJH7. At the bottom of the page there is a link on how to find out which version of the software you are running, photos showing Android 2.2 running i897UCJK1.
here is the link for those that are curious http://www.wireless.att.com/support...ting+Started&tutorialId=825930&deviceId=12000
check at bottom of the page the link under related topic to get the specs of the phone used for this tutorial.
Have fund with this, perhaps is the only froyo we will get from ATT
That page has been there for at least a month now. It's not new.
See what I posted here on Jan. 20 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10767850&postcount=9
Which comes from an AT&T forum poster a few days earlier (sorry can't find the link to that post).
There have been a couple reports of this on the internet already. Its a good sign...it certainly can't hurt. A better sign would be if they would just release the software already. But after all...its only 5 months after they promised it...give them time for god's sake!

This is not a question about "what is the best rom?" or "which is the best phone?" b/c those questions, as we know, are mostly personal to the user. My question: Which Android phone has the biggest/best XDA development community? I have owned about everything HTC and recently bought a Samsung Fascinate. The Fascinate community appears poised to develop when the smart guys figure out the kernel or froyo is released. But, compared to my Droid Incredible, I don't see the same level of interest from developers. Any thoughts? (Oh yeah, I am limited now to anything working on Verizon).
Probably the Nexus One since it is the official dev phone, however, most HTC phones have huge dev communities (especially the EVO). The Droid line of phones also has a large following, since they're the best you can get on Verizon.
Yes, Nexus One is probably correct and I think they used to make them for Verizon. I am surprised there is not somewhere on the XDA site to go to check number of posts, number of active posters, etc. in each dev site by device. Or, maybe, not many people have this curiosity?

The N1 was originally planned for Sprint and Verizon, but it was never made due to the launch of the Incredible and EVO. You CAN check the number of posts in each forum just by looking at the "stats" column.
The desire forum is also very active. The oldest thread on the first page tends to be about 1hr since last post (at the most).
Revisiting after 7 yrs from the day of post creation.. Let me re ask the question.. Which of the top 5 smartphones today have the largest development community at xda?

Same question I have a Note 5 and it sucks, I'm about to upgrade and want to know what's the easiest to root, right now if I want to get free stuff in apps I have to get on bluestacks then back to my phone.

Sorry for what is likely a redundant thread, I don't own a Captivate. I tried searching but couldn't find anything beyond Samsung apparently putting the update out and then immediately pulling it last month. My friend has a Captivate and got a text sometime last week that an update (presumably Froyo) was available, and then when he tried to follow it he got an error. He's running the leaked Froyo so I'm not sure if that is impacting it - so can someone just let me know if the official update is available yet?
Really??????? If you would have searched this forum for 5 seconds, you would have seen it has been released. Seriously? What is with people asking dumb questions? Use the search!

Yes, it is.

Really???????? If you would have read my thread title and post for 5 seconds, you would have seen that I searched and saw conflicting info. Seriously? What is with people adding dumbass responses? Use your brain!
(Translation: And I'm reiterating here - I searched here and Google, it was vague on whether it was actually out yet or not. Like I said. I wanted to be 100% sure before I try to help my friend figure out why his update failed.)
Reinbeau - thanks.
It is out but they are slowly releasing it. My friend is running stock rom and he still haven't got the text yet.
Been out since late Jan/Early Feb for Rogers users. Not sure elsewhere.

You obviously didn't search very hard. I'm positive there are multiple threads here about it. What's with people being retarded?

The update failed because he's on leaked Froyo. You can't update to Official Froyo from leaked Froyo. He should Odin to stock then update.
Its been out since Feb. 24th for U.S. ATT users. I can't figure out why, if he can install the leaked version he can't find the official on his own? He obviously searched to find the leaked version?
f#cking google
" at&t captivate froyo release date "
FIRST RESULT http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/24/samsung-captivate-att-froyo-update-release-date-reminder/

how can you flash a phone and not be able to google some thing that easy~?
this hurts my head!
This thread is retarded. If you are this lame at getting info, you have no business flashing ROMs.

Sorry for the noob question I try not to post here and bother you guys but I keep asking and getting different and not definitive answers. So I did the LG update and I have 2.3.3, The kernel is 2.6.32.9, Baseband July 15. So from reading in this forum I gather that the baseband is different but the kernel remained the same with the LG tool. Now the OTA changed the baseman and the kernel along with the gingerbread. Is that correct and what is the difference between kernels. I also heard that the stock camera shoots is 720P not the 1080p with the LG update. Then someone said that the OTA update shoots in 1080p. Is that true?
I have to say I really like the gingerbread features like the way it looks and the way it edits text with the bars (I know you can buy the keyboard in the market) but I don't see the difference in Battery, Speed or stability. The reason for that is my phone has been running like a champ since day one. So it was hard to get much better.
So if I use the link in this forum to go back to stock froyo can I then do the ota so I can get the new kernel or is there a way to get the new kernel without having to do that? Again I am sorry for posting here but you guys know the most so I just want the best info.
Charlie
Baseband is July 15 and the kernal stayed the same ain't much of a difference. I really don't care where you post but alot of the tough guys around here do. Goodluck uncle Charlie

Yeah. Nothing I've heard of a new kernel so you've got the best part of the update (imho), the baseband.
And yes this will be closed or moved soon and hopefully no ban.
XDA Mobile
Seeing as your new here, a little help for you.
This section of the boards you posted in is the "development" section. All posts regarding developing go here, nothing else. Each phone that XDA supports has a development, question and answers, theme, general, and an accessories section. You can find the main G2X section HERE. This post belongs in the Q&A section, not development as it has nothing to do with the latter.
Thing that gets people pissy here is people asking the same questions over and over, or posting non development related posts in this section. Normally, if its a ? it doesnt belong here.
Go to the auto store and buy condoms and go to the drug store to buy brake pads..see? doesnt work like that.

Thread closed, please post in the correct section.
Just wondering but why are there like 3 threads for phones that aren't even out yet in the US yet some phones don't have anything for weeks after release date?
ex. Motorola Bionic doesn't come out for another few months and it has a thread with multiple discussions in it, yet the Thrill (optimus 3D) has been out for almost a week, didn't have a thread started for 2 days after release date, and there isn't anything really in there but three discussions.?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Developers can get phones early, could be one reason as to why this is. Also, they may just be prepping the forum for when they are released just in case if they cant do it when the phone actually comes out, the thread wont be put on late. Its better to be early then late.
T/u that makes enough sense....it seems att is too proprietary because their devices almost always seem to have late threads
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
It depends upon the magnitude of speculation a device receives. If you know what I'm talking about, Nexus Prime, SGSII.
On a side note, why don't you start with such a thread?
Well the reason that there was a thread for the Bionic was because it was originally supposed to come out around the same time as the Atrix was released so a section was put up for it around that time, but because it was scrapped and redesigned, the section just sat there.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Saw this on Android Central, with link to Motorola. https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c Updated 12/6/12. Atrix 2 not on JB update. I don't venture here too much but didn't see an immediate thread with the update so thought I would pass on. I think most knew it wasn't going to happen when they rolled out the Trade Up program.
Disregard, thought 12/6/12 update made it "official". Mods please delete my clutter.
