the stock HTC G2 1300MAH Battery is
4.46mmx64.68mmx43.87mm
(all measurements were done by me)
the red CHICHITEC battery, unmodified is
5.09mmx64.7mmx44.08mm
so, were doing good with the exception of being .63mm too large (.025 Inches)
and we have a big difference in the tab design between the two batteries.
fortunately, fixing the tab issue is very easy. just get some nail clippers and cut the tabs off on both sides so they look like this.
(bottom battery obviously...)
so at this point the battery will physically fit and turn on. you should verify the battery will work at this point before you spend too much time modifying it since we're dealing with cheap chinese cells here.
but, do NOT attempt to close the battery door. it's not even close and you'll mess something up.
so the easy first thing to do is take the red sticker off of the battery. this gets our dimensions down to
4.8mmx64.7mmx43.76mm
(here is the PN for reference if anyone needs it, the 1550 at the end leads me to believe this is actually a 1550MAH battery. but who knows)
now the difference in thickness is only a mere .34mm (.013 inches)
the good news is at this point if your using a case your done. the battery cover will fit, albeit poorly.
looks pretty terrible right? yeah i thought so too. for reference here is the phone with no battery in it (looks the same with the stock battery as well)
Chasing perfection
so, you're a manly man and cant be bothered with girly cases and like to live dangerously right? in that case the battery fitment depicted above probably doesn't have you too excited. you can feel it very easily with your fingers and it will drive you insane. so it's time to break out the sandpaper.
i started with 220grit paper and worked my way up to 600 grit to get a nice smooth finish.
this brought our dimensions down to
4.75mmx64.7mmx43.76mm. now were only .29mm (.011 inches) away from perfection and the battery fits much better.
when your sanding be sure to avoid concentrating on one spot for too long and try to use your whole hand to apply pressure to the paper and not just one finger to avoid any high/low spots in the cell.
depending on your battery you may need to sand the plastic on both sides to make sure it's flush with the metal part of the cell, one of mine needed it on the top/bottom. one didnt. so just use your eyes. also note that when i sanded the battery i only sanded the top (the side you see with the cell in the phone) you have the option of doing both sides. but i do not feel it is necessary (with the exception of cleaning up the plastic)
i actually went back over the battery after this picture alittle more aggressively and got the thickness down to
4.68mmx64.7mmx43.76mm only .22mm thicker. or about the thickness of 2 piece of paper.
at that point you really cannot tell the difference between stock and the CHICHITEC cell. so i didnt bother to take any photos.
things to keep in mind.
you need to put a piece of scotch tape between the battery and the MicroSD card cage to prevent shorting.
if you are rooted be sure to go into recovery>advanced and wipe battery stats. my cells wouldnt show 100% charged until i did so. and expect the battery gauge to be inaccurate for the first charge. mine stayed at 100% for around 2 hours of use and suddenly dropped 15%. dont spaz out when you see this happen, it will correct itself after the first charge-discharge cycle (run it till the phone shuts off)

And I got the phone on january 27th. All of the marks around the metal bezel are from the stamping process. They just look real bad at this scale. You should see the original 4000X3000 photos! LOL
Battery life has been fantastic so far. 7 hours and 35 minutes of nonstop use. Before dying on the first charge. Last 2 hours were with pandora,meebo and quadrant running in loops to kill the battery for calibration. Running Gingervillian 1.5 with a 1.401GHz OC

Sanded two yesterday thanks to this guide. I almost missed the important note about possible shorting on the SD Chassis.
On the second battery, I started with a file to speed things up a bit. I particularly focused on the edge closest to where the potential cover gap lives.
I had the grades of sandpaper handy. They were leftover from about 10 years ago when I was sanding the top of a duron 700 processor and the bottom of a heatsink in prep for overclocking to 1000.
hey everybody be careful, the new ones that are shipped by this seller are very different, the main difference is there is now a plastic frame around the cells, so the sides are no more rounded but squared, the battery seems thicker, it's a lot more difficult to make it fit;
Also when you take off the red sheets, the frame is no more attached to the cell.
The frame is even bigger than the cell, so they glued a little foam on one side( which i took off before sanding)
you have to file out a lot off the plastic frame
on the last picture, you can see a circuit board written "touch pro 2", if it is a normal TP2 battery then this is 1500 and not 1800...
Alo the plastic frame is not rigid, very flexible making it difficult to file... finally i used an electrical sharpener

Yeah i saw your post on the other thread, i still use it for now just to check the capacity, i'm on the second charging cycle and for now it's not lasting much more than the stock; i'll let a few more cycles to pass, but i've already decided to buy one that fits, seidio or mugen, although i do not face the same gps issues as you (I pretty much cut off half of the plastic frame with my electric "friend" above, i couldn't reach a perfect fit, but i dont have to push hard to close the cover)
I bought the Mugen 1800 that's actually made for the phone, ChiChi tried to rip me off and I'll never buy from them again. If you do buy these red batteries from them I hope you like them, because it's basically impossible to return anything to ChiChitec.
I have two of these batteries (and my wife and I both have G2s) but we have both stopped using them because the phones lock up with them in. With the stock battery I don't have any problems, with with these, pretty much every time I pull my phone out of my pocket it is non-responsive and I need to pull the battery to restart it. I figured it was shorting against something and I covered over the sd card area with some electrical tape, but the problem keeps happening. I've gone back to the stock battery because my phone is just too unreliable with it in there.
I thougght the chichitec is 1900mah and doesn't need a mod? The one on amazon 2 batteries and charger for $30 from seller CHICHITEC

The problem wasn't caused by the plastic part but the actual metal cell.
I never had to push hard to close it but it still caused the problem even after the lid would already rest on the plastic latches.
In the end I managed to sand it down far enough (while constantly fearing the battery would burst into flames) to get it working.
I now get around 24 hours when not using the phone too much so I also bought a 3500mAh extended battery from DX for use when I'm travelling.
I cut the corner of the battery and now there a tiny hole in the plastic, this happened on both sides.
Do you think I just ruined the battery? or am I okay?
Also, I did not sand the battery that much and I think it closes fine...it not flush but is that going to cause any problems as well? I started to sand it but the metal powder stated to irritate and stopped.
So what kind of life should one expect about of these *1500* mah chichitecs? 20 hours? Light/Moderate use.

More than that. With strong moderate to light heavy use I would remove from charger at 830 and have around 35% at 11pm. On light use days I have seen around or close to 60% or so in the same time frame. That was running cm7, gps and wifi and 4G always on.

you're fine.
i would assume every G2 is different and everyone's expectations for how well the battery door fits will be different as well. so as long as the door closes and you have some tape over the area where the MicroSD card is and your happy with it you should be all set.
you might want to consider clearing battery stats through CWM when the battery is full, then run it down till it dies to reset the stats for the new battery.

Not sure if this has been discussed before, ( didn't find anything ), but I found an extended battery for the sensation on ebay. 3600mAh and includes a back cover to replace the stock metal one so the battery can actually fit. \

However upon inspection of the inside of the cover I am only seeing metal contacts for 3 of the 4 that are on the stock back cover. Its missing the contact for the upper left. Now Question does anybody know what this contact is specifically used for? IE blue tooth, wifi, GSM, ext? I might be willing to sacrafice blue tooth for this, but of course not any of the other radios.

Also i wonder whether due to the distance from what i can see of the camera lens to the now raised exit hole if it will affect photos/video
I would avoid 3rd party battery covers since the antenna's are located inside them, and you wouldnt want to skimp on quality there.

I'd imagine that the missing contact is for the second antenna that the Sensation 4G has over the Sensation (worldwide GSM flavor). Likely you'd lose some signal but only insofar as when compared with the 4G Sensation's additional antenna; however, you'd want to hear some corroboration on this idea before you buy this.
That looks really ugly, imo.

I agree but I prefer keeping my Sensation smaller, so it fits in my pocket comfortably. I swap between Ankers, in effect, does the same thing. That extended thing hurts my eyes, ugly.

Wait a second. Upon closer inspection of the seems on the cover. I believe the main part of the frame is metal. Look at the inside picture, to the right there is part that appears to be reflecting the side of the battery ( probably where paint was not applied ). And for the 4th contact, I could make my own, Just need a sheet of cooper to glue on the inside of the upper.

I'm just a clueless noob, so can you please tell me how do you even see the inside of the cover to know it is missing a contact? Did you buy it? I don't see a picture of the inside anywhere. Sorry if this is a dumb question.
That bright bit to the right of the battery is the contact needed to make the capacitive screen work. There are a further 4 contacts on my European Sensation (not three). 2 are close together at the bottom and the other two are above and below the hole for the camera. You can see all four on the picture of the inside of the case - they are on upstands because the case is much deeper.
And I agree that the case is so ugly. It ruins a good looking phone. Two Anker batteries would be better if you really need that much power.
I agree the anker batteries have been great... i've never run out of power since I switched to the 1900mah anker battery.
If anyone does order this and try it please report on battery life and also antenna reception.

I just got this. so far so good. the look is nice sleek but still has a buldge. im not bothered by it much. it gives me 24hrs of battery life compared to 6 hrs before.
im thinking about painting it soon. ill post pictures =)
Just wanted to update everyone on this battery and cover. The guy who is selling it says he and his buddy have been using them on their sensations ( with tmobile ) and have not had any issues with data. But he did say yhe backs were 100% plastic and had no metal. I would buy one but they are a little pricey ($99).
I would personally rather buy the Powerskin case, and see if that could be modified to fit an Anker 1900mah battery, and then combine that with a second Anker 1900mah battery in the phone itself....
....and I know the Powerskin itself isn't a looker, but I reckon it looks better than the extended battery......

I have done that, but it is still not enough battery life for me, I have anker 1900 mah, chichitec 1900 mah and powerskin for the sensation. It is still not enough battery power so I hope to sell my powerskin to buy the mugen 3600 mah extended battery in hopes to have enough juice for my cell phone, I am in love with extended batteries!!!

I've been looking at some of the battery options out there, and I wanted to toss in the idea that you could accomplish essentially the same thing without spending $99:

- While they say it is designed for the (pricey) Mugen extended (double) battery, you could probably go with one of the many extended batteries available for the Evo 3D, where double battery packs are a lot more common. The obvious caveat is that if you go with a super crappy EVO 3D double battery, and it only turns out to be 2000mAh instead of 3500mAh, then you're really no further ahead than just buying a better single battery, and you have to suffer through a thicker phone.

Just got this double-battery housing in today. Ordered on the 5th (Thursday) and got it on the 9th (Monday). Shipped via usps first class from rancho cucamonga, ca to brooklyn, ny.
I might take some pictures next time I have it apart.
Obviously, this housing is a whole lot lower quality than the OEM HTC one, but that's to be expected. It is good enough, and while it is huuuuge, I think I can get used to it. Plus, I'm not concerned enough about it to wish there was a case that'd fit it.
If you look at all the pictures on the ebay listing, you'll see one of them shows the 4th pad that supposedly only the tmobile sensation 4g's have. The main picture doesn't have it. The version I got does indeed have all the pads that the oem htc one does. How good the antennas actually are is another discussion. Right now, I'm in airplane mode + wifi in my room and am getting full wifi bars (of course the ap is maybe 10ft away)
I do not have the mugen double battery, but I am absolutely able to fit two regular batteries (Anker + OEM) in there no problem. They aren't hooked together (left my other Anker at a hotel, so I need to get more like batteries) but it's a good proof of concept.
The housing is a real pain to get off. Hopefully it'll get easier as it wears.
The camera does not seem to be impeded by the extra hump of the housing, and there's no flash glare either. Everything seems fine, although I should probably test it in the dark and report back.
The buttons for volume and power are pretty cheap as well, but again, it's expected.
$20 shipped for the double-battery housing is a great deal. Link up the + and - pins, and you're good to go.
With just a single battery in there, it'll fall out.
Sleek is nice, but it's actually got some meat to hold onto now which is kind of nice.
Time to see if this will be too fat for my pocket. 2 1900mah ankers should last a respectable amount of time.

They both have good reviews on Amazon and there seems to be arguments for both on XDA. Some reviews say the Anker comes with a better case but I do like the idea of the ZL rugged case but I'm guessing it could be used with the Anker battery. Does anyone have first hand experience with these on the s4 that can provide advice?

I actually just ordered the ZL 7500 + TPU Case AND the Rugged Case on Amazon. However, I won't get them until Monday. I'll post back with results.

I own both and the ZL rugged case. The Anker fits very tightly into the rugged case. I like the Anker more because it's 300mah larger & doesn't cover the speaker.
Also, for whatever reason, my phone seems to be able to calculate the battery percentage of the Anker better than it does the ZeroLemon. I think it's because the Anker is exactly 3x the stock size while the ZL isn't.

I use the Anker 5200 without a case on it. And it works well. I also have the Anker 7600..
The 5200 gets me 3 days, and the 7600 is around 4 days.
The 7600 is a real brick, so I only use it, when I really need a long lasting battery and am traveling all day.
I've been using the Anker 7800 mAh for the last week or so & it seems to do pretty well.
I needed a rugged case that the Anker 7800 would fit in & the closest one that looked sturdy enough to do the job is the ZL. I had to trim about 1/16" inch (1/32 or so on each side) from the inside edges of the 2 sides on the inner skeleton of the case. Maybe I could have gotten by without doing that but it felt like I might break it or not be able to snap the front & back pieces together properly without making a little more room. It wasn't bad. It would have gone a little quicker using a dremel but I had a utility knife handy so I used it instead. It just took a little patience and care in order to be sure to not break the piece.
The case fits very snugly. With the raised volume & power buttons and the cover flaps on the power & headphone ports, it actually seems a lot like the Otter Box case my wife & daughter use on their S3 & S4. If Otter Box made a case for the extended battery I would have used that instead. Anyway, I didn't need any of the shims or optional back cover plate (removable to accommodate a battery larger than the ZL 7500). If that sounds confusing, you'll see what I mean when you get the case or check out a review on Youtube.
The Pros on the ZL case:
-This case definitely accommodates the Anker 7800 mAh battery.
-The case seems relatively solid and well made
-the raised power and volume buttons are easy to feel
-relatively sturdy cover flaps for the power and headphone ports
-the cameras, mics, sensors and speaker are open sufficiently for all functions to work properly
The only cons for me are:
- Step one of the instructions isn't very clear. I had to go to Youtube & see someone take it apart. It makes sense once you see it, but the instructions don't explain the initial taking the outer shell off very well.
-the outer TPU case fits on so snugly that it was a pain to take apart out of the package and a little bit of a pain putting the outer case back on. It's designed like that so there's no way it'll come undone accidentally so long as you put it on correctly. This con is also a huge pro! The other negative about the case being so securely made is that it's a bit of a pain to take it off when you need to remove your battery or ext SD card. Don't have an accident where it gets wet and you need to get the battery out in a hurry. There's a little lip on the edges of both the inner skeleton and the outer TPU cover that interlock. Definitely a nice snug fit.
-While the TPU case does have tiny bumps/studs on the sides to improve grip, the overall case doesn't have quite the rubbery grip I liked on my Seidio case for my EVO 4G. While it's not ideal, the grip is reasonably decent. I don't think I'll drop it easily.
- The built in screen protector SUCKS! (excuse the capital letters, that's not a shout, just emphatic) Sorry ZL but big fail on that one and if you look at the reviews, most others make the same complaint. It sits just a tiny bit above the screen so that you can't just touch the screen. Instead you have to press the screen protector down until it makes contact with the screen. It's only attached around the edges by some double sided tape so it's not hard to get rid of it. The quality of the screen protector seems a bit substandard. It reminds me of the plastic they use for the clear plastic clam shell packaging you see on Energizer batteries and so many other products. You can find much better screen protectors that are glare & smudge resistant.
-Lack of a kickstand. (but I just robbed the kickstand off the CRAPPY Seidio extended cover case I got for my S4 initially & stuck that on the back). The included carrying case gives you a kickstand but the case / holster is just too clunky for my taste. I need a case that absolutely cannot fall off or and the phone absolutely cannot fall out of (checkout "Ripoffs" cases by U.S. Armor, made for law enforcement/military/emergency services). Ripoffs cases have to be deliberately taken off. They are ultra secure on your belt or when just clipping them to the top of my pants pocket. The CO-83 is a good fit for this phone/battery/case combination and it has a little pocket inside where you can put a spare SD, thumb drive and/or micro usb otg cable.
As far as the battery, just one con, being the weight. You're definitely going to feel the difference but if you're considering extended battery you probably won't care. I don't mind it being a brick so long as it functions for me.
I'd recommend them both!
Zerolemon 7500 quick review
So after some pretty heavy testing, I'm finding that the battery does phenomenally well running android 4.4.2 (GoldenEye ROMs). Since it wasn't running stock, I applied my normal power saving measures (KT Kernel, profiles, TW powersaving mode, tasker GPS profile). The best I saw was 3 days with 15.5 hours of screen-on time. More recently, I've been seeing 2 days with 12 hours or so with screen-on time. That's likely due to my experimentation with different configurations. One of the most maddening things about this battery is actually trying to kill it. That last 2% of battery life goes on forever. I ordered the Zerolemon superfast charger (which, by the way, isn't superfast at all). It seems to charge faster using the standard Samsung charger. However, it helps when charging the battery I'm not using after a swap out. I've gotten pretty used to the added bulk and weight - so much so that using the stock battery makes me marvel at how light the phone actually is (even in the Zerolemon rugged case).
I am looking between the Anker and the ZL right now.
I have been reading that the Anker case is very slippery. Is this true? Does the Anker cover the face of the phone on the sides, to protect the screen?
I've used both zero lemon and anker. I prefer anker. For me i get better battery life even those the anker is smaller in capacity
ZL poor long term battery
My experience going through 2 ZL 7500 batteries is that they're great in the first couple of months at giving amazing battery life, but the performance loses out pretty significantly months later in. I've gotta say their customer service is great in replacing stuff, but at the same time its a pain to have poor longevity in its quality. I think I'm gunna order the Anker and give that a go. Anyone know if there's any battery like with nfc though?
I love this battery. I got a GS4 with a bad ESN (f'kn craigslist). Reported it but the cops couldn't do anything. So I did what any XDA member would do....convert to a gaming device! Fully charged it and ran it all day and night yesterday and this morning. Pictures, video, music, games, etc...

I'm very content with the Anker 7800. I need a protective case so I'm gonna try that Zero Lemon case.

I have both the ZL and anker 7800mah. I am using the anker now because the case it much nicer and better quality and is solid.
Also I was having signal problem with the ZL but none with the anker. This could be because zerolemon covers the bottom antenna but the anker is quite shorter and doesn't. I think Anker is overall much better made and designed apart from the fact it doesn't have NFC
How did you shave the ZL case?
I would do that if I knew how. I like the ZL case and battery but the Anker 7800 lasts longer but slightly too big for the ZL case.

Ok I will update this review in a few days after I have completed a couple of charge cycles but here are my initial impressions of the battery.

The battery fits snugly into the phone and is really secure even without the back cover on and is in no danger of falling out.
The phone is obviously slightly heavier but not noticeably but with the back cover on you can certainly notice the extra thickness for sure.

After my first day of use I got 7.30 hours of screen on time but I did do a back up, flash a new Rom and then restore during this so I expect to be able t get 2 days usage and 8 hours of screen on time once the battery has had a few charge cycles.
The back cover is a very similar material to the original and includes NFC and wireless charging which for me is a major plus point

There are other alternatives on the market like zerolemon but this doesn't have NFC or wireless charging and it is a tricell battery it has been causing issues with giving a true reading of remaining battery.
I had a mugen battery on my old galaxy s2 which I gave my mum and is still going strong 4 years later so reliability I don't see as an issue.

I ordered one of them generic honeycomb-style TPU cases for extended batteries for a couple of quid from eBay, I believe it will fit the Mugen back cover. If that's true, then it's a cheap solution for extra protection.

Gotcha I will wait until they offer the back door by itself. I love my Hyperion battery and to justify spending a 100 for a battery not as big and a cover is not for me. Just was looking into the cover and now tpu case you reffered to .all these backdoors are made by 1 company in China then get labeled or stuff added to it like qi charger adapter

Tbh i can normally get a day out of the stock battery but it's nice to have the extra juice if you are somewhere where you can't plug in and recharge. Any extended battery will add some bulk to the phone but the mugen doesn't feel like a brick unlike some others that really are huge and probably overkill

I work anywhere from 10-16 hours a day on my feet moving with clients. So I don't have time to charge back up. A spare battery is OK but if I forget it I am screwed. Rather have the bulk either way. I got pretty big hands and the phone sometimes is a pain to hold with out the case with bigger back.

After spending 4 days with the Mugen battery, I have to say I am quite impressed.
Firstly, it does add bulk to the back of the phone, but it doesn't add much weight, so the phone is easy to handle. The back cover is of very high quality (will update the post with photos soon) and the kickstand is sturdy and quite handy. Wireless charging and NFC work flawlessly, which is a big bonus.
Now to the more interesting part: the actual battery life. The battery has claimed capacity of 6640mAh and the stock battery is rated at 3220mAh. That means it should easily double the battery life of the phone.
Does it deliver?
In short, YES, absolutely.
Long version: I am what many would consider a 'heavy user'. I have a Gear Fit that is constantly connected with the phone, so the S Health app runs in the background syncing every 3 hours. WiFi always on, mobile data as well. Autosync on for 2 Google and 1 Exchange accounts. I stream music from Deezer and watch Netflix almost every day (long bus journeys... ).
All in all, I get about 16 hours of standby with 4 hours of screen on time with the stock battery.
With the Mugen battery I got more than 8 hours of screen on time -see screenshots. I didn't even put the phone in Ultra Power Saving mode at night, as I do when I use the stock battery.
So my personal experience has been very positive and the battery, in my view, has scored excellent in all aspects: standby, temperature, charging, appearance.
Are there any negative points?
Much like with everything in life, yes.
I'd really like to see a TPU case that fits the extended back cover. I'm just one of these people that can't stand the idea of the phone being naked! [emoji23]
Is it worth it?
OK, let's address the elephant in the room: the product is pricey. I received it as a review unit and before I actually started using it, I was too thinking what many of you possibly think: "This is too expensive". However, after a day with it, I realised that, once again, the 'you get what you pay for' applies here. The battery performs excellently out of the box. No hiccups with the battery gauge, it displays the correct percentage at all times, no need for 'calibrations' and other questionable shenanigans. It just works. It doubled my battery life from the first charge, I didn't need to wait ages and condition the battery with crazy rituals for it to perform as it is supposed to. It just works. It adds bulk, but not too much weight and the back cover looks and feels beautiful, while adding extra grip due to the very fine texture. Not to mention wireless charging, which is a big bonus and advantage over the competition. Add NFC to that too.
All in all, yes, it is worth it.

Great review @iridaki way better than mine lol. I have to say I agree with your conclusion it is a bit more expensive but I think the inclusion on Nfc and wireless charging make it worth it.
I have tried the wireless charging and once you get the phone positioned properly it works fine although the phone does get rather warm

Considering the size of this phone to begin with, I would say that to add any extra bulk would be not in my best interest. I would just recommend a power bank that you can plug into periodically, and just making sure you charge your phone nightly. I like to keep my phone in my pocket, and that even a little extra bulk would be quite noticeable. At least in my perspective.

I have the Zerolemon as well, I suppose I can see if the Zeroshock case will work with the Mugen battery. I don't have the Mugen battery yet, just ordered it, otherwise I would have tried it. I just got tired of the battery percentage and calibration shenanigans with the Zerolemon, had to try something else.

I've been using my Mugen battery for a while now and it's awesome, I am sure you'll enjoy it.
If the Zeroshock case for the Note 4 is anything like the one for the S4, it can accommodate any extended battery so it should work with the Mugen just fine.

Only issue for me is i either have to take the back off or use stock battery when i use my gear vr
I would never ever ever use a balloon. That is rigging at it best.

Wireless charging this? I find this a joke. Even with stock battery, I found it takes too long for the % move up, also i pick up the phone to use more frequently, so it's not practical, especially this one, take 24h to charge without picking up the phone????
Someone please don't do the math of Ah vs A output to prove my 24h charge wrong, LOL you know what i meant...

Disclaimer: I received this case for free to test and review.
The look and feel
I was planning on doing this review after a week of having the case but due to some personal issues that came up I did not have the means or the time to do so. Fortunately that gave me about a month to do an in depth testing of the case. The Zerolemon case first and foremost is an asthetically pleasing case in my opinion even if it did not come with the built in battery (more on the battery aspect in a bit). I prefer some weight to my phone so that was actually a bonus for me. For those who would not like that, it does add quite a bit of weight to the device and about twice the thickness so be warned. I do not use samsung pay so I can not comment if the thickness effects the feature. The case at first glance looks as if it would be slick and easy to drop, fortunately upon handeling it has a very good feel and is extremely easy to keep a hold on. The hole that is cut out for the camera (while being pleasing to the eye) does tend to capture a lot of loose dust and other debris due to its bowl shape so be prepared to clean the camera every couple of days for clear picture quality. The front has a very slight raise all around the edge of the phone adding a degree of protection if the phone is dropped straight on the face. This has actually saved me from a drop once when I first received the case which was extremely pleasing. The case also the sound directed out of the front of the phone instead of the bottom which while in theory is nice actually degraded the quality of the sound in my opinion and did not boost the volume. I am by no means a audiophile so I am not the best to judge if that is in fact the case. the 3.5mm headphone jack is at the bottom of a deep hole made in the case and can cause some trouble getting your headphones plugged in without their included adapter. While somewhat of an inconvienence it did not bother me much due to using wireless headphones most of the time. Now that we are done with the asthetics on to the main attraction of this type of case, the battery.
The Battery and assembly
The Zerolemon case has a removable battery that is placed inside the case with a micro usb male to male adapter. The male obviously is inserted in your phone while the other is inserted into the external battery itself. When this is done the battery is on the bottom back half of your phone and then is inserted into the slot cutout in the inside of the case itself. The battery was extremely easy to attatch and insert the phone into the case. The new charging port is on the battery itself and now located on the left side of the case if you are looking at the phone from the screen side. I actually find this an extreme improvement due to the cord no longer being in the way while in use while charging. The case has a large button to check the battery status from four rectangular LED indicating lights or to actually turn on the charging functionality is located on the lower back of the case with the generic power symbol engraved in the center and is almost flush with the back of the case. It is easy to find by feel due to the engraved symbol. Right abouve the button is a very nicely engraved Zerolemon logo. While charging the phone with the case on it will charge the phone fully first and then begin charging the phone which is a convenient feature if you need to unplug before charging is finished. To fully charge the case without the phone takes about 2-3 hours from my experience so it is not a quick affair. I charge my phone while I sleep so it was not a negative for me. Once you begin charging the phone by holding down the back power button for about 2 seconds it charges fairly quickly. Unfortunately it never charged more than about 60% of my phone battery before it died. Which by no means is bad but I do wish it could do more given the extra size it adds to the phone.
Final thoughts
In conclusion, for the price of this case it is an extremely well made product and has been very useful when I need to use my phone heavily during the day. It isn't the best in it's class but once you factor in price compared to other alternatives and the build quality it is a very good contender. I would and have recommended this case to friends and family.

I find zerolemon very sketchy.... they asked all my info awhile ago,beginning of january saying they will send me a 8500mah case and battery at the end of january.... its february and i messaged them and they dont contact me back??? I go to sammobile and the 8500mah case was released 3 days ago??? Well zerolemon,you lost a possible customer and i wanted them to know..... dont take peoples personal info for nothing.... I also opted for review as well and they sent me a note 3 days back saying they shipped my case. I'm still waiting for it. I hope you will get yours soon.
I have the same zerolemon case, the backup battery has many times charged my phone to full charge while on the road, and this from as low as 8 % battery remaining. it takes a few hours, but charges to full with 2 out of 4 bars remaining on the zerolemon battery life indicator. Recently the male to male connector is getting a bit touchy, and sometimes needs ajolt to connect correctly, but not a big issue.
So they finally messaged me back saying they shipped the case. Hopefully ill get it soon
So i just got the zerolemon 8500mah case and guess what? They sent me one for a note 5.... i am not going to deal with the trouble of waiting again and going through the hassle.
Is this case no longer being made? I found one on Amazon but it was $199 and the cheapest I could find on eBay was over $200!

I am by no means a audiophile so I am not the best to judge if that is in fact the case. the 3.5mm headphone jack is at the bottom of a deep hole made in the case and can cause some trouble getting your headphones plugged in without their included adapter. While somewhat of an inconvienence it did not bother me much due to using wireless headphones most of the time. Now that we are done with the asthetics on to the main attraction of this type of case, the battery.
The Battery and assembly
The Zerolemon case has a removable battery that is placed inside the case with a micro usb male to male adapter. The male obviously is inserted in your phone while the other is inserted into the external battery itself. When this is done the battery is on the bottom back half of your phone and then is inserted into the slot cutout in the inside of the case itself. The battery was extremely easy to attatch and insert the phone into the case. The new charging port is on the battery itself and now located on the left side of the case if you are looking at the phone from the screen side. I actually find this an extreme improvement due to the cord no longer being in the way while in use while charging. The case has a large button to check the battery status from four rectangular LED indicating lights or to actually turn on the charging functionality is located on the lower back of the case with the generic power symbol engraved in the center and is almost flush with the back of the case. It is easy to find by feel due to the engraved symbol. Right abouve the button is a very nicely engraved Zerolemon logo. While charging the phone with the case on it will charge the phone fully first and then begin charging the phone which is a convenient feature if you need to unplug before charging is finished. To fully charge the case without the phone takes about 2-3 hours from my experience so it is not a quick affair. I charge my phone while I sleep so it was not a negative for me. Once you begin charging the phone by holding down the back power button for about 2 seconds it charges fairly quickly. Unfortunately it never charged more than about 60% of my phone battery before it died. Which by no means is bad but I do wish it could do more given the extra size it adds to the phone.
Final thoughts
In conclusion, for the price of this case it is an extremely well made product and has been very useful when I need to use my phone heavily during the day. It isn't the best in it's class but once you factor in price compared to other alternatives and the build quality it is a very good contender. I would and have recommended this case to friends and family.

Does anyone know where to buy a replacement battery for the Moto X Pure? The only one I have found is a 2800 mAh on amazon, which is less than the 3000 mAh stock battery.
Hi, search on Ebay for Motorola FX30 battery, there should be two sellers shipping from US (assuming you are in US...). It is around 30 something. I just purchased one that's delivered today, will have to see how it goes... Yes, these are OEM batteries listed as 2800 mah or so, I think it is fine. I think the battery rating is 3000 mah is the average or something like that, but 2800 mah or so is the minimum guaranteed capacity.
I have been hunting for a replacement battery for more than a month, tried two previous sellers that don't actually have them in stock but still accepted my orders.

Yep. I did the search too. I live in a decently large city and for those few cell phone repair shops who would even work on the phone, their source for the battery: eBay.
Somehow I got shipped two batteries... One is cameron sino, another one generic no brand... weird. I am going to use the Cameron Sino one...
OK, the battery is installed. It is lasting normal now, I think, but have to try a few charge/discharge cycle to see how good it is.
One corner of the back cover is not sticking too well now, I may need to apply some more glue to it.... :/ It probably is no longer water proof....

btw it never was waterproof, mainboard has special coating that protect it from water damage and thats all, water still can easily get inside even in new phone

Adhesive to reapply the back cover if not included. Be careful when removing the back plate to prevent damage.
Use the AccuBattery app to calculate the capacity of your battery. I have also tried to purchase an original Motorola battery (Germany) but was not able to find it, so I settled for generic items of 2800 mAh.
my motox has like 40-60% original capacity and needs a new battery bad... but i have the wood back on mine so and dont feel confident in getting it off without destroying it...

I have a woodback too, when I took mine off I saw that the wood is just a very thin veneer glued to plastic so it can flex and bend a bit without damage.

Be that as it may unlike some reports I have seen my wood back fit tight and nearly seem less I would need to begin prying near the rear mic. And hope the heat gun got the glue soft enough to let me peel the wood off. Just seemed like a lot of dangerous work just to have the phone continue with the weird glitches it has developed over the 2 years I owned it. Way I see it the next owner can take that risk the phone is in mint condition except for software glitches and battery wear and a weird pattern the silicon case liner left on the wood but that rubs off and will probably go away completely if left out of that case. I still have the box and bumper and I think 5 cases for it as well as a unused glass screen protector to replace the haloed one on it. I bought every case under 15 dollars on amazon trying to find one I liked... All were either too cheap feeling or had some flaw. The one I think I liked the most was the semi hard Beatle in blue I tried using heat to remove the frosting on it and warped the case a bit but it was a clear case. I did get a clear case but it turned yellow very quickly...
I bought a vhbw battery and it's quite good!

Battery replacement
I'm about to take the plunge. I have the new battery and adhesive sticker for the back. Based on the video I watched, it seems to be a straight forward process. I did not order a new back because mine has the diagonal ridges on it which would seem to indicate that it's just a simple plastic back.

Update on the replacement: I followed the directions from this video to a T ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZYsfBqnEbU ). Everything went great except for one thing not shown in the video - when removing the buttons, be aware of the 3 tiny spring pins the buttons press against. Mine came out and I did not realize it until I put everything back together. The phone powered up as soon as I plugged the battery connections in but now I could not turn it on or off and no volume control either. I decided that as long as I could keep it powered on, I could control volume thru settings.
Monday, I was leaving work, and in trying to get an idea of battery usage/stats, I did not keep it fully charged. My boss called me and immediately afterwards, the phone died. So, knowing I could not power it on, I headed to Best Buy and picked up a Moto G5+ (64Gb storage/4Gb ram) for $299.I had not planned to replace my MXPE so soon but that's life!
Hey, I just got the same battery, vhbw, but this question is for anyone here who replaced their batteries:
Did your batteries come already curved? I was in the middle of installing it when I realized it's not curved and I'm scared of bending it myself (I don't want to upgrade my phone to a Note 7).
Did you guys just force it in, bent it beforehand? I can't close the phone back up without bending the battery...

I bended the battery on the case where it rests otherwise you cannot close the phone. It will bend just a little bit, the problem may be repositioning the NFC antenna contacts.

Well, after some back and forth with the seller who goes by the same name as the battery brand (so I'm guessing they sell directly on ebay), they asked me the code on the original battery and the battery I received from them, then they decided to refund my money and told me a replacement would not solve the problem and to dispose of the battery.
After videos I've seen of Li-ion batteries going up in flames I'm not too happy about bending it myself.
I'd still like to know if any of the other people here bought batteries already curved, or they had to do the same thing and bent them themselves.
Has anyone had a FLASH Fires from NON-OEM Batteries Turbo-Charge yet?
