[Q] Can I trust UNLOCKING.COM? - General Questions and Answers

Hi
I have a phone locked to AT&T.
I want to unlock it.
I found UNLOCKING.COM. Their prices are very good but I searched in the google and some people say they are scammers and some say they are not.
Any one tried this site? Can I trust it?

No!!! Don't trust any of those, "unlocking" .com sites... They are almost always scams... I've tried one and it took 2 days to tell me that my phone couldn't be unlocked, and they would send me a refund that, of course never came...

Do you know any good site?

Can you unlock it yourself? I know it's pretty easy to unlock the G2.

I don't, but I have no experience with that phone.

You should be able to get the unlock code from AT&T if you have had your phone/contract for a certain amount of time, i think its a law in the states now...

The problem is i'm out of the states now.
But I found a way to unlock it for my self. I will try it.

[Q] SIM Unlocking Bell Sensation (NOT TMO)

Has anyone been able to sim unlock the Bell Sensation?
Sites that have the code for T-Mobile Sensation don't seem to have it for the Bell version. I actually got the Bell Sensation 5 days back and been trying to unlock it since. If someone knows where to get it unlocked, please let me know! I know the code would be available shortly (hopefully soon, but I want to know if anyone has been successful and where)
These are the sites I've used and every one of them has been unsuccessful:
1. unlocking .com
2. gsmliberty .com
3. mobileincanada .com
4. htcimeiunlock .com
5. htcsimunlock .com(took my money, did not result in code and never refunded it back, I've contacted them 4 times and they never reply, its been like 3 days now, you might wanna be careful with these guys)
6. cellunlocker .net (I didn't try to unlock my sensation with these guys, but tried to unlock a different phone and they sent me the wrong code. I asked for a refund, they asked me to provide them video proof, i did that and its been 7 months no refund)
7. cellunlock .net (different site from cellunlocker)
I have checked on more websites that I can't remember at the moment.
This?
Hope it works...
What's the first IMEI digits?
Does Your HTC IMEI# Start With "3577790" or "3578410" or "3526660" or "3539230" or "3538330" or "3589910" or "3523140" ??? They can do it... supposedly.

I know this is off topic but can you confirm if your bell sensation has a camera lens flush to the casing, like it is not recessed. I was at the source looking at a dummy phone and it has a lens flush with the casing.
I am trying http://www.unlockallcellular.com right now... dunno if that will work
Please let us know how it goes. I'm gonna try theunlock.ca

this site did not work
oh god, i have a feeling for the next few weeks the sensation thread is going to be spammed hard by bell users having problems with their sensations :/
unlock codes will take a couple days for the BELL sensation, as bell is NOT a fan of their exclusive branded hardware going to other carriers, even if you buy off contract or in another store
But I can't wait a couple of days, I have to use it now!! Just kidding, was actually hoping I'd be able to unlock today, guess Ill have to wait. Hope we wont have to wait too long.

I just emailed him, lets see what happens. He said he did 2 bell's yesterday successfully and one did not work.
Kijiji Guy can't do it for a week. If you know someone with a bell account they will do the unlock for $75 bucks, seems like the only option right now.

Did he say his unlock codes would be available in a week?
I've never actually owned a device on launch, so is that generally the rule? Unlock codes usually take up to a week to obtain?
Thanks for the info by the way.

cellunlocker .net has stolen my money before, I'd never use their service ever or recommend it to someone else.
No, no luck. They charged me for the unlock codes but refunded me within 2 hours with an email that said "Not Found".
They have noted on their website that their HTC codes only get updated once a week, so I guess we just gotta wait!

gayraja registered 3 days ago, and just spams for apparently different online unlock services... Apparently different because the names differ, but are probably the same service (because the web interface is always about the same), and at various (but always high) prices... (prounlocking, mobileunlocksolutions, theunlockarena...)
My first message in this thread is old, and I found by myself a much cheaper unlock provider than yours long time ago, so... thanks for nothing, gayraja...

Talked to my att rep

I sell phones att verizon tmobile etc etc not going to say where.
She's normally pretty good about details on phones plans etc etc. She noticed night had a HOX and asked if my bootloader was unlocked. I said yes and why would you basket me that. She smiles and says there has been lots of calls and emails from people complaining about the locked bootloader. I'm told her yes its cost me lots of sales from people that like to mod. She smiles and says
"just hang on something is coming" I ask what. She says it has to do with the HOX and the bootloader.
The it for what it's worth just thought I'd share it

I hope this is legit. I called AT&T regarding this yesterday and everyone I talked too had no clue what I was talking about and all of them think I want to unlock my phone to use on other carriers. I tried explaining I am talking about software development and if I wanted a phone for other carriers I would have bought the unlocked international version and assured them that I wont be leaving AT&T (10+ years with them) and all I get is, "Well we can unlock your phone today if you pay the contract fee of $325...." sigh.

Perhaps a psycholigical move to get you to pass on motivation to potential customers. Increase sales. Hopefully im wrong but a lot of people in higher up positions had their tricks to earn them that spot
Real good info tho! This would be phenominal if at&t gave htc permission to unlock THEIR bootloaders

I emailed HTC asking about the bootloader, and received this reply:
I understand that you are upset about not being able to unlock the bootloader on your device.
As is stated on the developer website:
“HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices. However, certain models may not be unlockable due to operator (carrier) restrictions. We continue to work with our partners on this, check back often for ongoing updates about unlockable devices.”
I’m sorry, but this is outside of our control.

I ran into roughly the same thing with AT&T and the Skyrocket. AT&T/Samsung wouldn't give out unlock codes, kernel source, do anything for the dev community until the initial exclusivity period was over. Afterwards it was business as normal.
I'd imagine that the HOX is going to be the same. Once something "else" comes out, and the HOX isn't "one of the phones to have", they'll loosen the restrictions and will let us do what we want.
The Galaxy S3 is a bit different. It's not really "exclusive" to any carrier in the sense the Skyrocket was, so they probably had to change tactics a bit.
I also work for att. I haven't heard officially about the boot loader being unlocked, but the htc rep was in the store the other day dropping off signs for our HOX display and when I asked about it he said from what he has heard from people above him something was in the works to be able to unlock it, but he also stated nothing is official at this point.

Yeah, that's what our HTC rep said, as well. Nothing official or solid, just rumblings from within the higher-ups at HTC.

Reported. Stop peddling your commercial links here.
Despite the commercial link, it was a good advice to ask the carrier for unlock code. In France, for example, you can get it for free thanks a recent law.

I really wonder how many Desire S users have unlocked their phone and by which method. As a tech-savvy user I "discard" my phone after the contract because it's dated (it's quite a horrible thing, I know) so I propably won't.

That's just mad nowadays. With 'normal' phones then maybe, but if you look after a phone like a DS then it will still be worth between $150-200 at the end of two years.
I completely agree. I chose an Android phone just because I hoped that I could get community support after two years.
Moreover, our phones are basically computers now. And I don't change my computer every two years thanks to GNU/Linux
Sent from my Desire S using xda app-developers app
Well, discarding isn't the right word. I either upgrade my pc or sell it and buy a new one after every two year or so, but as phones are not as modular there isn't really any other thing I can do except sell it and get a new one after two years. If it were possible to get a new monitor for my desire S I'd be more than happy to
edit: besides, a rectangular area of about 10% of my touchscreen is broken. I can only manage with that for so long

anyone NICE have some time to teach

I want to learn some basic stuff and have a ton of questions. I posted a few but the 1 person that Dm'ed me when I tryed to ask more questions yelled at me for having tone when even though I was very nice because I am greatful that he took the time.
I do not want to get yelled for no reason so there is no way I will ask him anything else.
So is there anyone willing to take sme time to have a conversation with me about a samsung S6 phone?
No one is going to yell at you for no reason... if they do it's a lick on them.
Post your questions so others can learn as well.
No one person knows all the solutions so you benefit from more sources of knowledge by posting the questions on the forum.
Or simply be patient as you will eventually find the answers you seek... works for me.
Ok I was given a phone samsung from a lady that changed to a new company.
The phone she gave me has no sim card and has been resotred to start.
What th woman who gave it to me and I both do not know is if the phone is carries locked and how to gey it unlocked.
I have googled and it seems there are a lot of unlock code generators that charge a fee.
Can anyone tell me first is there a free one second if not one that is not some kind of a scam.
The phone says it is a Samsung SM-G920A.

Have the last owner sign in on the phone and delete their Google and Samsung accounts on it.
You can then do a factory reset and configure it as you please.
That's the easy way... any other way will be much harder.

Maybe I am not explaining this right.
The samsung phone has been reset so it is like it is a new phone.
It was a ATT carrier and I want to use it on a differant carrier so I need to unlock the carrier.
So I am looking for a way to unlock the carrie.
So what I am looking for is a

Is there one that is used and not a scam?

The easiest way is to have AT&T unlock it.
If there's no outstanding balance on the account they should. Usually the account holder does this, not sure how this will work in your case.
AT&T can still/could have blacklist(ed) the phone's imei even if you use a 3rd party unlocker.
Probably best to work it out with AT&T. They are very intolerant of delinquent accounts though. If a balance was owed by the previous owner they will probably want it paid to unlock it. They just want their money. If no money is owed you should be alright.
As much as I know... I may be mistaken. Never had to play with this.
