Does it really matter what brand I choose? I'm looking at Kingston and SanDisk right now. Anything I should know?
Thanks in advance.
Personally I would try and get the fastest that you can find. I got a 8g Class 6 from newegg for 20 bucks coming.
darth, it doesnt matter. get class 4 and up just in case but in reality the data cap is not from the card its gonna be from the phone side of things. Thats the way it is for most mobile phones.
I went ahead and got this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134717
Hey guys, I searched but didn't see this in the Epic forums. Wanted to get it posted asap because it made the front page of slickdeals not too long ago so it could sell out before long.
Amazon has a 32gb Lexar Class 10 microSD with a card reader for $47 and free shipping. It is sold by Tiger Direct through Amazon. Alternatively, you can go straight to Tiger Direct's website to purchase it for the same price.
*** 11/11/11 Update - Deal is dead through Amazon currently but I checked the Tiger Direct link and it still has the $47.99 price.
*** 12/16/11 Update - Amazon currently has this for $40.77 with Prime Eligibility and Tiger Direct has it for $69.99 - $30.00 Instant Savings = $39.99. Shipping shows up at $2.70 for me bringing the total to $42.69 through TD (YMMV).

Great Deal...Just Got Mine!! Different Brand, etc. For 41 plus tax, sold out quick.
Hard to Get Deals, if you Find One, Dont Hesitate...
Great deal, just bought a Class 4 Sandisk 32GB recently for like $36 so this is priced about right
And I assume from the response that the Epic will recognize and fully utilize a 32 GB card?

Isn't the read/write speed on these phones capped, so would it even really make a difference if I got the Class 4 vs the Class 10. No point in spending another $11 if I don't have to.
I've got my eye on a Patriot and a PNY 32gb for about the same price, just caught up in which brand has a better reputation.

I heard that too but I wonder how capped, I'm gonna possibly review my card tonight from my laptop's reader and mounted through the phone and see if there's a speed difference

I've bought memory sticks from both and haven't had any of them die. Both are great.
32 GB cards
Are these cards coming down in price finally. I looked a while back and they were 100 or more. Also are these the true 32 gig cards(been burned a few times from ebay, even a local seller). I want to find one of these to go along with my extended battery(take that Iphone.)

I have as well, and both make reliable devices. I'm leaning towards the Patriot because all my Patriot USB drives are blazing fast, whereas my PNY drives are just eh on speed.
Thanks for posting.

Has anyone used this card for a decently long time? Interested to know if it spontaneously corrupted or not
Deal is back and better than it was previously. 7 bucks cheaper I think.
I bought this card when I posted the OP and have been using it ever since. I have had no problems with it at all and I'm thinking I might get another one for my Nook Color.
If there's a speed difference on the laptop that makes backing up your SD way less painfully long.
Read the reviews in the Amazon link? A few people complained of corruption and dead cards within weeks or months of purchase. This worries me a bit.
Anyone have this:

Great reviews--good price
I ordered and will report back--just curious if anyone else has info on this. I think mine is on its last leg--after over 18 months of high usage.
Thanks,
Ken
Looks like a good deal! Do you know who the OEM is?
Nice tip. just ordered one, mine current one is left over from my mytouch3g and has been heavily used. It is a good price and should be a good backup!
Couldn't find OEM, but to busy at work to research much.
I would bet a major company though and just rebranded--I least I hope so--
But 63 solid reviews is best I have seen. Longterm, to soon to tell.
Wanted a 32gb, but reviews to mixed on them so far. Maybe Lexar. Just don't need 32gb atm.
However, since it is suppose to be here today--I guess it doesn't matter, for me anyway.
Will try to format/partition tomorrow or asap and post results--
Ken
Well it sucks--
DOA
It was made in Taiwan
Requested an Exchange--will try one more time

You can get Adata class 10 cards all day from Newegg for less than 30$, or if you have a Microcenter near you they have house brand class 10 cards for like 25$.
Thanks ctfrommn
I looked at them awhile back but reviews were not real good for a 16gb class10
23% of reviewers gave it a 1
I have an Adata now 16gb class6, it has been fine for over a year
Will get my second Amazon tomorrow and hope for better results--

Will be interested in the results also, I am still using a 16gb Sandisk class 2, class 6 speed though.
Just ordered one of these as well. Will report back in a few days when it arrives!
Well the second one popped right up
write is 8gb read 14.3
Transfers started out slow but picked
Rebooted to rom blank icons--repair sd no go
restored a nandroid--icons back
formatted and partitioned as usual 3 to 4ext, although last rom I used Cool Alignment zip which should be just taking you to ext4. So, not sure?
All seems ok atm
Will see how long term goes
I guess to put it into perspective I have sd speed boost at 2048 and speed test showed 9.1 write and 28 read for whatever it is worth.
Got mine this morning. Hooked it to my Ubuntu netbook and used gparted to format it. It seems faster than the class 6 I was using. Overall seems like a good deal.
I am hoping--
Mine just arrived today, getting 8.6 to 9.2 on the write, 19.1 to 19.8 on read using SD tools. This was on stock gingerbread. Will be flashing CM 7.1 later tonight and try again. So far pretty happy with the purchase. Definitely faster than my old class 6!
yea i need to try my old class 6 and see what sd tools says
real world with card reader 12.6 tops today read. but it starts at 5 or 6 goes up to 8-9 and doesn't hit 12 till toward the end. not sure if that is normal. i think small files are slower and the big one have higher read speeds.

I've bought a so called Sandisk 16GB Class 10 SDHC Card online with a price pretty much lower than this, but there's no brands on it, the one who sold it to me claimed that it's actually a leaked-out OEM card for Samsung. Not so safe it seems, but still runs well for so long.
here's the link u guys good deal for a very good store and brand

It says $44.99

that was for the after christmas sale. but still 44$ is not bad for a 32 class 10
Wow, i was at Fry's on Christmas Eve with a friend. I totally would have picked that up. Even at $45 thats good, its the same price i paid for my Class 4 Sandisk.
I always check newegg as a first comparison. And I am kinda glad I did this time. I Never thought much about class 4/6/10 until I read some of the reviews. Found r/w speed is the issue (as expected) between the classes. But some of the reviews of different cards suggest that some phones may not play nicely with some card sizes/classes. Huh? Anyway the egg has Patriot 32gb/class 10 cards http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220547 for $40, free shipping. Worth a look if only for the reviews.
Dont know if you guys saw this or not but check out todays Gold box deal on Amazon:

I just bought mine and wanted to share with you all!!
It's only a class 4 but it would work for anyone looking for more storage for a decent price
Oh man I wish I didn't buy a graphics card That's a pretty sweet deal. I bought a 4GB for 10 bucks last week and it's really slow vs what originally came with my Wildfire S.
