Anyone have this:
http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-microSDHC-Class-Memory-Adapter/dp/B0058GH4U0
Great reviews--good price
I ordered and will report back--just curious if anyone else has info on this. I think mine is on its last leg--after over 18 months of high usage.
Thanks,
Ken
Looks like a good deal! Do you know who the OEM is?
Nice tip. just ordered one, mine current one is left over from my mytouch3g and has been heavily used. It is a good price and should be a good backup!
Couldn't find OEM, but to busy at work to research much.
I would bet a major company though and just rebranded--I least I hope so--
But 63 solid reviews is best I have seen. Longterm, to soon to tell.
Wanted a 32gb, but reviews to mixed on them so far. Maybe Lexar. Just don't need 32gb atm.
However, since it is suppose to be here today--I guess it doesn't matter, for me anyway.
Will try to format/partition tomorrow or asap and post results--
Ken
Well it sucks--
DOA
It was made in Taiwan
Requested an Exchange--will try one more time
Ken
You can get Adata class 10 cards all day from Newegg for less than 30$, or if you have a Microcenter near you they have house brand class 10 cards for like 25$.
Thanks ctfrommn
I looked at them awhile back but reviews were not real good for a 16gb class10
23% of reviewers gave it a 1
I have an Adata now 16gb class6, it has been fine for over a year
Will get my second Amazon tomorrow and hope for better results--

Will be interested in the results also, I am still using a 16gb Sandisk class 2, class 6 speed though.
Just ordered one of these as well. Will report back in a few days when it arrives!
Well the second one popped right up
write is 8gb read 14.3
Transfers started out slow but picked
Rebooted to rom blank icons--repair sd no go
restored a nandroid--icons back
formatted and partitioned as usual 3 to 4ext, although last rom I used Cool Alignment zip which should be just taking you to ext4. So, not sure?
All seems ok atm
Will see how long term goes
I guess to put it into perspective I have sd speed boost at 2048 and speed test showed 9.1 write and 28 read for whatever it is worth.
Got mine this morning. Hooked it to my Ubuntu netbook and used gparted to format it. It seems faster than the class 6 I was using. Overall seems like a good deal.
I am hoping--
Mine just arrived today, getting 8.6 to 9.2 on the write, 19.1 to 19.8 on read using SD tools. This was on stock gingerbread. Will be flashing CM 7.1 later tonight and try again. So far pretty happy with the purchase. Definitely faster than my old class 6!
yea i need to try my old class 6 and see what sd tools says
real world with card reader 12.6 tops today read. but it starts at 5 or 6 goes up to 8-9 and doesn't hit 12 till toward the end. not sure if that is normal. i think small files are slower and the big one have higher read speeds.

I've bought a so called Sandisk 16GB Class 10 SDHC Card online with a price pretty much lower than this, but there's no brands on it, the one who sold it to me claimed that it's actually a leaked-out OEM card for Samsung. Not so safe it seems, but still runs well for so long.

I just ordered a T-mobile Desire and I wanted to get a decent sized SD card for it to take away with me. I had a couple of questions though:
I wondered if I needed any special type of SD card. I looked on Dabs and they have SD cards that have a different class such as class 2, 3, 10, 8 etc.
I wondered if the Desire had some of the same issues as the HD2 has had. That if you use larger SD cards, they might not work or somehow drain the battery. So I wondered if it's best to keep the size down?
Lastly, I wondered where is best to buy SD cards from in the UK to get the best deals?
I also wondered where is best to buy second batteries on price as I am going away and definitely want a 2nd battery to take with me.
Cases too..... are they worth getting?
Thanks

Regarding the SD Cards, "Class" is attributed to the speed of the SD Card eg. Class 8 has a higher data transfer rate than Class 2. So when you can, always go for the highest class memory card as this will improve transfer speeds and also if you use Apps2sd on Android (install apps on sd card) it will result in better performance. I have no idea about the issue regarding battery drain, however, I have never noticed any visible changes in battery life using large (16/32gb) cards in my Nexus One over smaller ones.
As for batteries, cases etc. Ebay is always my first stop for accessories. I have bought numerous items from reputable sellers at prices far lower than specific online retailers. Don't be sucked in by gimmicky branding such as "invishield" or "raptor skin" etc, you'll find they all come from the same Hong Kong factories. That said, you tend to get better finishes on the more expensive products but I am using a silicone skin that cost £2.85 and bought 5x screen protectors for 99p and everything is sweet!!
Enjoy the Desire.
Regards.
thanks for the help on the class thing. I didn't know! I'll have to find where in the UK is best to buy the cheapest 16 gig SD card
dunno about apps2sd but when playing music I only have a class 2 SD which set me back about £22 for a 16gb one from ebay UK seller and it all works fine. Though as far as I am aware the better the class the faster the SD card I think ill only use mine for music atm and happy with what its doing
If you can afford it though go for the best class you can!
I'll have to have a look on ebay. I think I'll look for a silicon case for it if I can.
I'll also look on ebay for a 16 gig card too..... thanks.
ebay or ebuyer are probably the cheapest for that sort of stuff unfortunately dabs is quite expensive
I want to go for a 16GB card but I'm also wanting a fast one but struggling with finding anything above a Class 2. Can anyone point me at any 16GB Class 4, 6 or 8's they come across.
Many thanks!

The best price I found for official HTC batteries was Handtec. Even with their postage, it's still very good value (total £18.19) and they say they have them in stock.

that's a great deal. I looked at that last night. However, as I want to get two SD cards. One for music and another for stuff like video etc, i thought I'd have a really good look. Managed to find one on play.com for £17.99.

That isn't micro SD.
I'm too looking out for a class 8 (or so) microSD card that is 16GB. Not had much luck.
Thank goodness Mr goose added a link. I just checked again what he bought and yes, I got it wrong. Thank goodness for double checking and Mr goose adding a link!
Back to looking.
I currently have a Sandisk Class 4 8Gb Micro SDHC in my Blackberry Bold, which I will probably transfer to my Desire (when I get it).
Do you think this would be fast enough for Apps2SD (when the Desire gets rooted)?
What is the fastest class out there at the moment?
I will eventually buy a 16 or 32Gb one I think, but will stick to the 8Gb at the moment.

I saw some class 8 cards......
Just to let you guys know you don't really need class 8.
I have a class 2 16gb card. Apps2SD was fine on the G1 and ran like they were on the actual phone (even though people recommend 4 or 6).
The data transfer rate is also fine.
16GB MicroSDHC Cards on Amazon
I had a little look around last week and found the following speedy, but expensive 16GB cards on Amazon:
Transcend 16 GB Class 6 microSDHC Flash Memory Card £52.67
KINGSTON 16GB microSDHC Class 10 Flash Card £85.11
Personally, I feel that's too much money. I think it's a better idea to come down a size to 8GB, because you can find the following:
Transcend 8 GB Class 6 microSDHC Flash Memory Card £13.99
You can buy several 8GB cards for the price of those 16GB jobbies if you don't mind swapping them. Also, time will eventually bring the price of those 16GB high speed cards down to a more sensible level, if you're prepared to wait.
I haven't yet decided whether or not to replace the supplied 4GB card, but if I do, it'll be one of those <£15 8GB cards.
I would have posted the above as links, however, this board thinks I'm trying to post spam. So you'll have to paste the above descriptions into amazon.co.uk and search for these yourself.

I'm not saying it would be a problem for you but you've already got a Desire yes? You are aware that the memory card is not "hot swappable" as the battery has to be removed to get the card out?
What I am saying though is, personally, it would drive me nuts.
Kingston have recently released a class 10 16gb microsd, but as you can imagine, it's a bit pricey! Most retailers online have it for sale at about £85-90.
i know that there are different classes of cards: 2, 4, or 6 but what are the main idifferences and will it effect my phone in anyway if i get a 2 compaired to 6?
Heard that Class 4 is the optimum for the Nexus one...anything more than class 4 it wont make a lotta difference.
I can tell you I have an 8g Sandisk Class2 and an 8g Transcend Class6. The Sandisk blew it away in speed comparisons. Not all SDs are equal. I wouldn't have believed it but I tested it myself. Yo have to have root and adb but there is a speedtest on Cyanogen's forums. I tested each 3 times and averaged. The Sandisk was faster by a considerable amount. I also think the Class4 would be optimal and would spend a bit extra on the Sandisk.
I just got a 16gb Patriot Class 2 to replace the 4gb Class 2 stock sd card. My response the first time I opened Gallery "OMFG HOLY CRAP". Instead of the typical 3-5 second load I am at about .5-1 second. Write speed is amazing. This card is just fan-damn-tastic.
I can say I tried a Class 6 16gb off-brand prior to this (my dog ate it) and it had none of the characteristics of this current card.
So for my money, before you consider Class, consider Brand / Quality. The better quality cards will always outperform the lesser cards. If you are worried about the Class (transfer/write speed) then get a good brand and higher class...but for me, the Class 2 Patriot is amazeballs.

hhmm, never heard of Patriot.

My current one is the stock one that came with the phone.
However, with your "OMFG HOLY CRAP" emotional outburst I'm thinking of researching that brand
I really want a 32 gb microsd card for the n1. Yeah I know its kinda overkill but it would be my card for life really. I just wish there would be a day when I could walk into a best buy and pick one up.
i used patriot ram in my computers, good brand, didnt know they made sd cards, i think ill grab one, right now i have 4gb scandisk class6 seems fast and smooth

The thing that bothers me about Sandisk (besides the price) is even on their own website they don't list what speed class the cards are. On Amazon I can only find class 2 cards. What's up with that? Maybe class 2 would be enough but I'd be more comfortable with class 4 or 6. Do they even make them in that speed?

On amazons search I typed in 16 GB class 6 micro SD and it pulled some up along with a passel of other sd cards.
The class # classification has merit behind it. But unfortunately cheap manafacturers are abusing the system.
I bought a sandisk 16gb class 2 card not too many weeks after it appeared on the market as the first 16gb card. Never have i wanted for more speed. Songs load up instantly in the music player and the gallery has no lag at all. Don't fall victim to high class # claims. Just go with a manufacturer that you know and trust. For me that's sandisk.
im already sending back my first class 10 card.bought it from newegg but had to get kingston to replace.had problem with corrupt data and making my nexus go loopy.kingston replaced it without any hassles.

hey guys i stay in dubai and i have searched the computer vendors and they only have sandisk class 2 cards and nokia's class 4 cards so if i buy nokia's class 4 mu 44 will it function properly if i want to install app2sd?
Not sure why i cant find it on the bestbuy website but i know its still there at the store bc i seen them there again just a few days ago, i bought mine a few months ago but anyways i found a PNY 4 gig class 6 HC-->high capacity i think, its in the camera section and sells in the black and red pack, not the black and gold one they also have. I bought mine regular price $22.99 which isnt too bad for not buying it on the web. It made my G1 songs and pics load blazing fast and ive since replaced my stock nexus card and have noticed a night and day difference on certain things pertaining to sd. just thought id share what i thought was a good deal. Later, veritas
also wanted to add that ive prolly reformated with parted literally between 100-175 times and really no slower rates on anything and barely a smidge shaved off the top
hi i'm after a 16gb memory card but don't know what class to get, as cheap as possible but it must be from a well known manufacturer
Probably doesn't matter what anyone says - whichever brand person X stands behind, somenoe else will say it failed on them and to go for brand Y.
Having said that, I have a 16gb Kingston class 2 which has been perfect, cost about £25 or so when I got it. Recently picked up the same but a class 10. That one was about £80 including shipping as I wanted to see the speed difference, etc.
Not sure what others people will swear by. I don't swear by Kingston, but I have yet to have one go bad on me...

And was the Class 10 worth it for speed?
I've used both Kingston and Sandisk in the past - and currently have a 8GB Class 6 Sandisk in my desire. It's been just fine.
I'd like to make the leap to a 32GB card, but I'm slightly concerned the Class 2 one available might have issues. (Although I've read many contradicting posts on that subject too!)
@TractorMatty
Between an older 16gig class 2 and the 16gig class 10 yes - galleries rendered much quicker, seemed more responsive, etc.
But between a class 6 and a class 10... meh. Not worth it at the moment.
Does it matter what class you get? Because so far I can only find a 16bg class for over just £20.
Using Team Group 16GB microSDHC Class 6.
Got it from ebay
Go for Classe 6 it's almost like a C10, but cheaper (and you won't really notice any difference).

I took the risk and tried the 32gb, online for $40au... failed miserably and still scarred by the copious time spent trying to copy, format, reformat, copy... with most ending up in the lost.dir (except for 1.2gb that ended up working).
Since then, have got a 16gb SanDisk. It's only a Class 2, but haven't had any issues with speed whether it be reading or writing. Avi's play in sync... Good bang for the buck.
Mind you, I only went for SanDisk because they were always good to me in the standard SD days, but have heard plenty of good word on Kingston and Lexar.
32gb on ebay are 75% fakes.
I just got my Kingston 16gb Class 10 card. Do you guys think my card reader's speed is maxed out and it might be able to go faster than this?
I'll be getting THIS ONE when they get it back in stock.
Well, just got a Kingston 16Gb class 10 and can't use it, because it's defective .
But I'm not blaming Kingston, it can happen with any brand and I'm gonna exchange it... Hopefully I have a Sandisk 16Gb class 2, a not-very-fast-but-working-SD-card....

that looks too good to be true- Im tempted!
When something seems to be too good to be true it usually is.
Memory cards aren't something you wanna be cheap about. Specially since cheaper knock off cards tend to have memory failure randomly and early in their lives.
It would suck to have lots of important pictures and data on the card and it to stop working!
posted from a EPIC4G.
Those are fake. They will format as 32gb if you are lucky, but the instant you add more than 16gb or 8gb or whatever it actually is, the data will be "corrupted" or some other nonsense, since its not actually 32gb.
Do NOT get memory cards on ebay for all the reasons mentioned above. I have personal experience with some of these.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Unfortunately I consider all memory cards on ebay knockoffs. They Suck!! Suck bad!!! I consider myself a pretty enthusiastic photographer and purchase memory cards for my camera quite often and in the period of a year I bought 3 of them from ebay just to test and one got corrupted within a month, another just died as in couldn't be recognized at all, the third one worked and then one day i went to format it and it said format successfull only that I could never write to it again. It would always give me a write error, or the message on the camera would show up to change memory cards.
They are horrible horrible cards.
Compared to the ones I buy in newegg, even the cheaper brand ones from transcend worked flawlessly. I think once with transcend I push the card in really fast, and it gave me the change memory card error but the card still works once i took it out and put it back in carefully.
Sorry man, some things ebay is good for and other things its just not so please avoid.
it was removed off of ebay.

Yea I didnt think they did but i haven't been in there in a while. That is good news about it working though I think ill ask santa for one for christmas.
I'm in the Columbus store at least once a week to grab stuff for work and to go next door to Gallo's for lunch and they still don't have anything larger than 16. It took then a while before they carried the 16 so hopefully they will get a 32 in soon.

Not sure if this is the right forum, but looked like accessories was the best bet.
Im looking at 32G cards, but open to 16 as well. Just switched to Android, so would be good to know others experiences, and whether there is something I cannot do with a Class 4, for example or whether you see any lags with other cards you have used etc, or if a specific class is needed for using some specific feature?. I did do a search, and didnt find anything, maybe I missed it. Might be useful to have a thread regarding people's experiences..
Any suggestions/recommendations for what I should be looking at?
I have read that the Partiot/Adata/Wintec cards are not too reliable, though their prices for a class 10 are much lower..But I dont want to go through the hassle of returning/copying data, so I am thinking Class 4 is enough.
Here is one option, Sandisk 32g, doesnt say class 4, but some reviewers mention it is actually class 4. At the same time, some mention they got Class 2. Cannot post a link since I don't have 8 posts yet
Search for SDSDQ-032G-A11M, US Retail Package on Amazon, maybe someone else can add the link! Its for ~62, shipped from Amazon.

Anyone else have suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
I'm rocking the Patriot LX series 16gb as well. Class 10 and with transfers(usually 3-5 gigs) I'm hovering around 8-9mb/s.
EDIT: If you live by a Frys Electronics, I picked mine up there for $32.
I have the Patriot 8 GB Class 10 from FRYS. I'm getting speeds of ~11 Mbps.
I think it would be better to go with a 16 GB class 10 (~30 for Patriot class 10), than a 32 GB that's close to three times the cost of a 16 GB.
I just got this one, so far it seems to perform well enough. It's only a class 6 and it was writing at about 8-9 megs. Not too bad IMO.

You can't go wrong with this one. Great deal.
Many of my buddies have had 32GB MicroSD cards and a lot have malfunctioned. Never really had issues with 2-16GB MicroSD
Dont get HP brand, I had a hell of a time making a gold card because it kept getting corrupted. Format took forever to do as well.
Thanks for all your suggestions!
I took the 16g card out of my Epic and it works great its a class 2 I formatted it 1st and no problems. So it seems Samsung cards are good.
i bought a Wintech 16GB class 10 off newegg for $28. Out of curiosity, will the format SD card function in clockwork recovery work to just format it so I can use it? Or should I do a full format on a pc, why do you need to format before use? Why cant you just pop it in and go? Does HTC format the sd card before they ship all these phones to the carriers/customers? Just curious, thanks for input.
I've recently been having a great experience using Kingston 8 gig class 4 cards to record hd video.
To check the card speeds on pc I use CrystalDiskMark 3.
There is also an android app called SDTools that will show card information.
I also use SD Formatter 3 from sdcard.org to format my cards.
Another tool to find out if your cards are what they claim to be is H2testw. It checks capacities, corruption and read/write speeds.
Just an update, got the card in the mail, so far so good, dont know any way to test the speeds but i tryed two apps, one said it maxed out at 20mbs and the other 14mbs, so i dunno how acurate thise numbers are but all seems well!

Just pop it into computer, and format it as FAT 32, and use it. Generally all cards are pre-formatted when manufacturer sends u out. But I reformat it before first use to make sure its in the FS as per my preferences .
I bought a cheap 16gb card on ebay
I'm sure it's a counterfeit Sandisk. I've had it at least a year. I only paid twenty bucks for it back when 16gb cards were 50 bucks. It's only class 2. I used it for a long time with my Tilt 2 without any problems, even though I store 10gb of music on it. Now I'm using it in my Inspire. I tested it using the SD tools app. The write speed is 11.6 and the read speed is 20.4. Sometimes those numbers fluctuate slightly, but that's what it tested just now. It does fine with HD video. About once a week I was getting a disk error on my phone in which the card was becoming unmounted, particularly when I would use google navigation. I used SDFormatter 3, the one mentioned in the post above, and I turned on "format size adjustment", and the error hasn't happened in a while. I appeciate the poster who mentioned the software. It seems to work better than the native Windows 7 formatter on my pc.
Here's a link to a 32gb class 4 for sell right now on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/32-GB-Micro-SD-...906?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2564d3c83a
Cards with the exact same generic blue and white packaging are abundant on ebay today from 17 to 30 bucks. Most are receiving good reviews. I may take a gamble. You never know.
Update: Ha ha. I asked the above seller if the card had been tested for capacity and speed. The reply was "Card no is fake. It real." lol
