Maybe more of a general q... but, have you seen any 32GB cards for sale yet?
havent seen one for sale yet.. they need to come out with more 16gb micro sdhc cards at a higher speed classes.. class 2 cards are slower than class 6 and ive only seen an A-Data class 6 memory card..
They were supposed to release 'Summer 2009', but I have yet to even see one hit ebay, which is where they mostly come first. Maybe the Nexus will speed that up a bit and they will finally get released since there is demand for them.
i am interested in one also
N1 + 32gig SDHC will finally replace my rapidly failing iPod.
Well, as soon at the cards hit the market.
forget the 32gb class 6. Wait and get the new MicroSDXC thats to be released sometime soon. up to 2TB and class 10. Although not sure if the nexus will be able to support that much but i dont see why not.
The nexus one supports (specifically) Micro SDHC cards up to 32gb

Once faster and higher storage cards come out, expect the price of the existing class 6 cards to drop like rain.
Can anyone suggest any good 16gb memory cards at the time being till they release a 32gb? I will be rooting my phone soon and I don't really know much when it comes to SD cards. Can someone kindly point me in the right direction please? Thanks to anyone if not everyone who helps me.
This is the one I use from NewEgg... it $49 w/free shipping.

Is that a good brand to go with? I heard of Kingston and scandisk but never heard of that brand. Its class 6 so I'm guessing its pretty good right? I'm gonna want to put apps to SD card as well. Thank you for site and info if you can just answer this one last question in this post i will be very thankful.

They don't sell them at all? How is it that the nexus can hold up to 32gb and they don't sell/make the cards we need?

The cost don't really bother me. I cant see it costing more then $175-$200 USD. which is really not that much compared to 16gig IPOD touch which is $280.39 from amazon.com

That is true, however my Nokia 6263 and 5310 could both specifically support up to 4gb uSD cards. I was able to use my 16gb uSDHC cards with no problem, though.
And I'd hope that SDHC > SDXC is merely a software upgrade.
I found this benchmark data for the 16 gig card from newegg. In short, sounds like a really good card though I know nothing of the brand.

I have a Micro 16GB AData class 6...works great!
See my signature line for the link.
The 32 GB will be great when it comes, but 16GB is still better than the mere 4GB card N1 comes with
I read here that the best card to use with the mytouch is the 16gb class 6 card.
Where everyone get them? In here (US) I can only get the class 2 one.
Any direction is highly appreciated.

Try Amazon or HERE from ebay.

i recommend you get a class 4 sandisk and not a class 6 crap brand. a class 4 sandisk ultra ii microsd gets 6-8mB/s constantly and ive had a ridata class 6 that barely reaches 6mB/s.
Thanks for the replies!
I will move forward and get it as soon as there is a custom ROM for the fender.
Right now reading what is available for it doesn't make sense in rooting it.

Ebay is the best place to get one
You can't be sure you're not getting a fake at ebay. I get mine at amazon.com.
I've heard that the difference between Class 2 Sandisk and Class 6 nobrand is virtually none. Can anyone confirm that?
STAY AWAY FROM KINGSTON MICRO SD CARDS.
I received a fake one from a person on Ebay and it was a real hassle trying to get my money back from Ebay/Paypal. I had to go thru my credit card company. If you pay with Paypal make sure you DO NOT USE a bank account. Tie it your CC, so you can possibly get your money back.
I just ordered a T-mobile Desire and I wanted to get a decent sized SD card for it to take away with me. I had a couple of questions though:
I wondered if I needed any special type of SD card. I looked on Dabs and they have SD cards that have a different class such as class 2, 3, 10, 8 etc.
I wondered if the Desire had some of the same issues as the HD2 has had. That if you use larger SD cards, they might not work or somehow drain the battery. So I wondered if it's best to keep the size down?
Lastly, I wondered where is best to buy SD cards from in the UK to get the best deals?
I also wondered where is best to buy second batteries on price as I am going away and definitely want a 2nd battery to take with me.
Cases too..... are they worth getting?
Thanks

Regarding the SD Cards, "Class" is attributed to the speed of the SD Card eg. Class 8 has a higher data transfer rate than Class 2. So when you can, always go for the highest class memory card as this will improve transfer speeds and also if you use Apps2sd on Android (install apps on sd card) it will result in better performance. I have no idea about the issue regarding battery drain, however, I have never noticed any visible changes in battery life using large (16/32gb) cards in my Nexus One over smaller ones.
As for batteries, cases etc. Ebay is always my first stop for accessories. I have bought numerous items from reputable sellers at prices far lower than specific online retailers. Don't be sucked in by gimmicky branding such as "invishield" or "raptor skin" etc, you'll find they all come from the same Hong Kong factories. That said, you tend to get better finishes on the more expensive products but I am using a silicone skin that cost £2.85 and bought 5x screen protectors for 99p and everything is sweet!!
Enjoy the Desire.
Regards.
thanks for the help on the class thing. I didn't know! I'll have to find where in the UK is best to buy the cheapest 16 gig SD card
dunno about apps2sd but when playing music I only have a class 2 SD which set me back about £22 for a 16gb one from ebay UK seller and it all works fine. Though as far as I am aware the better the class the faster the SD card I think ill only use mine for music atm and happy with what its doing
If you can afford it though go for the best class you can!
I'll have to have a look on ebay. I think I'll look for a silicon case for it if I can.
I'll also look on ebay for a 16 gig card too..... thanks.
ebay or ebuyer are probably the cheapest for that sort of stuff unfortunately dabs is quite expensive
I want to go for a 16GB card but I'm also wanting a fast one but struggling with finding anything above a Class 2. Can anyone point me at any 16GB Class 4, 6 or 8's they come across.
Many thanks!

The best price I found for official HTC batteries was Handtec. Even with their postage, it's still very good value (total £18.19) and they say they have them in stock.

That isn't micro SD.
I'm too looking out for a class 8 (or so) microSD card that is 16GB. Not had much luck.
Thank goodness Mr goose added a link. I just checked again what he bought and yes, I got it wrong. Thank goodness for double checking and Mr goose adding a link!
Back to looking.
I currently have a Sandisk Class 4 8Gb Micro SDHC in my Blackberry Bold, which I will probably transfer to my Desire (when I get it).
Do you think this would be fast enough for Apps2SD (when the Desire gets rooted)?
What is the fastest class out there at the moment?
I will eventually buy a 16 or 32Gb one I think, but will stick to the 8Gb at the moment.

I saw some class 8 cards......
Just to let you guys know you don't really need class 8.
I have a class 2 16gb card. Apps2SD was fine on the G1 and ran like they were on the actual phone (even though people recommend 4 or 6).
The data transfer rate is also fine.
16GB MicroSDHC Cards on Amazon
I had a little look around last week and found the following speedy, but expensive 16GB cards on Amazon:
Transcend 16 GB Class 6 microSDHC Flash Memory Card £52.67
KINGSTON 16GB microSDHC Class 10 Flash Card £85.11
Personally, I feel that's too much money. I think it's a better idea to come down a size to 8GB, because you can find the following:
Transcend 8 GB Class 6 microSDHC Flash Memory Card £13.99
You can buy several 8GB cards for the price of those 16GB jobbies if you don't mind swapping them. Also, time will eventually bring the price of those 16GB high speed cards down to a more sensible level, if you're prepared to wait.
I haven't yet decided whether or not to replace the supplied 4GB card, but if I do, it'll be one of those <£15 8GB cards.
I would have posted the above as links, however, this board thinks I'm trying to post spam. So you'll have to paste the above descriptions into amazon.co.uk and search for these yourself.

I'm not saying it would be a problem for you but you've already got a Desire yes? You are aware that the memory card is not "hot swappable" as the battery has to be removed to get the card out?
What I am saying though is, personally, it would drive me nuts.
Kingston have recently released a class 10 16gb microsd, but as you can imagine, it's a bit pricey! Most retailers online have it for sale at about £85-90.
hi i'm after a 16gb memory card but don't know what class to get, as cheap as possible but it must be from a well known manufacturer
Probably doesn't matter what anyone says - whichever brand person X stands behind, somenoe else will say it failed on them and to go for brand Y.
Having said that, I have a 16gb Kingston class 2 which has been perfect, cost about £25 or so when I got it. Recently picked up the same but a class 10. That one was about £80 including shipping as I wanted to see the speed difference, etc.
Not sure what others people will swear by. I don't swear by Kingston, but I have yet to have one go bad on me...

And was the Class 10 worth it for speed?
I've used both Kingston and Sandisk in the past - and currently have a 8GB Class 6 Sandisk in my desire. It's been just fine.
I'd like to make the leap to a 32GB card, but I'm slightly concerned the Class 2 one available might have issues. (Although I've read many contradicting posts on that subject too!)
@TractorMatty
Between an older 16gig class 2 and the 16gig class 10 yes - galleries rendered much quicker, seemed more responsive, etc.
But between a class 6 and a class 10... meh. Not worth it at the moment.
Does it matter what class you get? Because so far I can only find a 16bg class for over just £20.
Using Team Group 16GB microSDHC Class 6.
Got it from ebay
Go for Classe 6 it's almost like a C10, but cheaper (and you won't really notice any difference).

Well, i can tell the diff between my shipped in Desire's Samsung 4G Classe 2 and my previous Sandisk 8G Classe 4... My Classe 4 is faster.
I got a 8gb class 4 Kingston.. its fast enough for me...
Sent from my Desire using XDA App
I took the risk and tried the 32gb, online for $40au... failed miserably and still scarred by the copious time spent trying to copy, format, reformat, copy... with most ending up in the lost.dir (except for 1.2gb that ended up working).
Since then, have got a 16gb SanDisk. It's only a Class 2, but haven't had any issues with speed whether it be reading or writing. Avi's play in sync... Good bang for the buck.
Mind you, I only went for SanDisk because they were always good to me in the standard SD days, but have heard plenty of good word on Kingston and Lexar.
32gb on ebay are 75% fakes.
I just got my Kingston 16gb Class 10 card. Do you guys think my card reader's speed is maxed out and it might be able to go faster than this?
I'll be getting THIS ONE when they get it back in stock.
Well, just got a Kingston 16Gb class 10 and can't use it, because it's defective .
But I'm not blaming Kingston, it can happen with any brand and I'm gonna exchange it... Hopefully I have a Sandisk 16Gb class 2, a not-very-fast-but-working-SD-card....

very respectable web site. selling genuine items
Hey guys, I searched but didn't see this in the Epic forums. Wanted to get it posted asap because it made the front page of slickdeals not too long ago so it could sell out before long.
Amazon has a 32gb Lexar Class 10 microSD with a card reader for $47 and free shipping. It is sold by Tiger Direct through Amazon. Alternatively, you can go straight to Tiger Direct's website to purchase it for the same price.
*** 11/11/11 Update - Deal is dead through Amazon currently but I checked the Tiger Direct link and it still has the $47.99 price.
*** 12/16/11 Update - Amazon currently has this for $40.77 with Prime Eligibility and Tiger Direct has it for $69.99 - $30.00 Instant Savings = $39.99. Shipping shows up at $2.70 for me bringing the total to $42.69 through TD (YMMV).

Isn't the read/write speed on these phones capped, so would it even really make a difference if I got the Class 4 vs the Class 10. No point in spending another $11 if I don't have to.
I've got my eye on a Patriot and a PNY 32gb for about the same price, just caught up in which brand has a better reputation.

I have as well, and both make reliable devices. I'm leaning towards the Patriot because all my Patriot USB drives are blazing fast, whereas my PNY drives are just eh on speed.

Deal is back and better than it was previously. 7 bucks cheaper I think.
I bought this card when I posted the OP and have been using it ever since. I have had no problems with it at all and I'm thinking I might get another one for my Nook Color.
If there's a speed difference on the laptop that makes backing up your SD way less painfully long.
Read the reviews in the Amazon link? A few people complained of corruption and dead cards within weeks or months of purchase. This worries me a bit.
