disable lockscreen? - Droid 2 Global General

i just think the unlocking process of this phone is very annoying , can i completely disable it?
first, the stock rom 's unlock screen is very laggy, and i dont want to see it anymore.
also, the power button is really hardly "miss-pressing "
the unlock screen seem to be useless, and it just very troublesome to have a unlock screen even i slide out the keyboard, i used palm pre before, it was very convenient to just-type after sliding out the keyboard.
is there anymethod??i dont want to see the annoying and laggy moto blur lockscreen anymore

root and flash fission

https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jraf.android.nolock

That one does not work on the motorola. I'm also looking how to do this, but not succeeded yet.

any solution now without flashing rom?

No lock works perfectly for my droid 2 global. I am using fission 2.4.3 though, haven't tried it on stock rom so I can't comment on that. But it works on fission 2.4.3 for me
edit: i use the no lock widget on my home screen to control it, maybe thats why it works on mine??

No lock worked fine on my stock D2G, without a widget.

can i only unlock the phone with power button instead of volume and camera button?

Try out an app called "Screen Mode Widget."

As far as I know, the lock screen is what disables camera and volume buttons from waking. When you disable lock screen, all hardware buttons will wake the phone...it's how Android is. Until they change it.

After rooting my D2G I installed Battery Indicator Pro. In it's opening menu it has a button that says "Disable Lock Screen." I haven't tried it because I want the security on the phone if it gets lost/stolen, but that might be a way to do what you want to do. I don't recall if you have to root to use it or not- you'll have to investigate the app.

[Request] Trackball wake -like app

I realize that trackball wake is a system level change but I would like to have an app that still uses the original lockscreen but simply allows the nexus one to be woken with the trackball. Nothing fancy. This would be something that I would think would be popular with alot of phones if done simple and doesn't become a battery hog. All lockscreen replacement apps utilize this feature so it should be usable on froyo. Hopefully someone can whip up something for us missing trackball wake. Thanks.
well, cyanogen has this built in. though if you want froyo, your not going to be using cyanogen yet.

Yeah I know but im thinking its possible to use the stock lockscreen still. It may run smoother that way. And @neok, yes it would be for froyo or ANY phone and/or rom. And truthfully, I may not use it once the real trackball wake gets updated but I would know where to go once the next update breaks trackball wake again. Ya know?
Shameless bump. Any devs out there want to chime in?
+1 to this.
+1 for this
Did you try No Lock ?
There's an app that does exactly what you said, "lockbot 2.0"
I am assuming u mean lockbot free and pro. Its alright, still a little buggy and its not the true original lockscreen. Its still a replacement afaik. The simpler the better I think. Anybody want to drop in to let us know if its possible or not?
Have you tried Widget Locker? It's what I've been using until CM6 comes out...
Widget Locker does not work well. It's slow to respond or just doesn't work at all most of the time (on Froyo at least).
what exactly is wrong with using No Lock for this? it lets you use the trackball to wake the phone in froyo.

Yes, but some of us don't want to wake the device to the homescreen. I prefer wake to the lockscreen, then taking a quick glance to see alerts and time. If I feel like unlocking then I can, if not just put the phone away. I've found "mylock" is a decent workaround for now, though not quite to my liking. Same with flyscreen, with all Widgets and updating turned off

Try this for now. My lock and another freebie widget called No Lock. When using advanced mode of My Lock And the No Lock widget set for locked, power button only will wake to the lock screen. Trackball is disabled. I use this when listening to music with phone in pocket when walking/working out. This way trackball doesn't wake the phone display. With No Lock widget set for unlocked, locking is disabled, so pushing any physical key/trackball wakes to home screen. This works for me till we get get trackball wake working.
this would be a cool app!
Any updates on this thread?

display is not working right with lock app!

i've been having this problem with almost all the keylock applications i've installed!
the display keeps on getting activated by itself and refuses to go into sleep mode! and if it goes into sleep mode, i'll have overlap lock screen which consist of the stock lock from X10 and the lock app i've installed..
was wondering whether any of the users here facing the same problem or not and if so, how am i suppose to get rid of the problem?

if its LockBot you are using its a known issue on the X10, if not using LockBot chances are its the same issue as you get with lockbot were you end up with multiple lock screens.
I use goto v1.20 Now and this is the first lock which actually is usable on the x10.
With lock bot I had the problem I couldn't use the notification bar anymore and with others I had double lock screens which is annoying as hell...

Lock screen

What do I need to do to have the pattern lock be the only lock screen I have? I removed the sense lock screen but that puts the ics lock screen first and then the pattern unlock which is a complete waste of time.

Sense lock and pattern
Unfortunately I don't see a way to disable the HTC Sense lock since it it the only thing that protects the phones from input. You will have to unlock Sense before you can use whatever security settings you have applied.
The only thing I could see as a possiblity is removing the HTC Sense software but then what is the point of having the HTC One S? Most likely a custom ROM will be the only way to get the results you are looking for.
It is very easy to remove the sense lock screen. As I indicated, I already did that. Now the ics lockscreen comes before the pattern which makes no sense (pun not intended)

I know this might sound like a pain, but using the facial recognition will also work, if the recognition doesnt recognize it goes to a pattern unlock.
You still need to unlock using the sense unlock or the ics unlock first.
OP, I'm not really sure how this is supposed to work, and I've never seen this behaviour on any ROM, ICS or Gingerbread. The problem is, how is the phone supposed to know that you want to unlock if there is no lock screen?
Let's say the phone is sleeping and the screen is off. No way to unlock right now. So then I press the power button to wake the phone. That doesn't necessarily mean I want to unlock it. Maybe I want to check the time, or see if I have any notifications. There needs to be a further action to tell the phone I want to unlock, which is the purpose of the lockscreen.
The pattern lock is not designed to BE a lockscreen, it is designed to prevent people unlocking your phone who are not authorised to do so.

I completely disagree. If you press the power button, you want to use your phone. If you want to check the time, do that in the status bar or the fact that it displays on the pattern screen regardless. There is no point in having an action to tell the phone I want to unlock it.

You can disagree, but that's not the way that Android works, and it never has been. It's also not the way iPhone works, for that matter.
The fact that it has been this way "forever", isn't an argument for keeping it this way. What if we had to press the power button 20 times to wake it up? Would you like to keep it that way because it had always been that way? No, you would've said it was useless.
I want to use some sort of security, but I don't because the way it is now it just takes too much time.
If anyone made a lockscreen that way, that UI designer would probably get fired pretty quickly.
The fact is that the trend is going in completely the opposite direction of what you want; the trend as you can see from HTC's lockscreen and also the ICS lockscreen is to display more information on the lockscreen without having to unlock the phone (time, weather, notifications, music etc). That decision is the result of customer feedback and market research.
So the way the phone designers are looking at it is (in the case of using a pattern lock or face lock):
Step 1) Information screen (lock screen)
Step 2) Security screen
I think the closest to get to what you want to do is install something like volume wake + volume unlock, so you can press the key twice in quick succession to wake the phone and skip the first lock screen, and go to your pattern as fast as possible. There is no way that I know of to completely get rid of the lock screen totally.
It takes about 1/2 a second to swipe the ring to get to your pattern lock, so I think "it takes too much time" is a bit of an exaggeration.

That's not true, the lock screen as he described it is exactly how my nexus one worked in Android 2.1-3. It is far simpler and provides all the information needed to either power off the screen or continue to unlock, in one step.

I have always used a hidden lock screen with gesture unlock. So when I hit my power button, I see some basic information. No indication it is a security or lock screen, until I enter my special gesture to unlock the phone.
I agree with the OP, there needs to be more options. Can't wait for CM 9...

Android has NOT always been this way, CM7 definitely had this behaviour. Ie no pattern unlock = ICS lock screen. If you have a pattern lock, the ICS screen does not get used.
So + 1 for the op on this, I really can't stand having to unlock twice to use my phone, but I still want the security of the pattern unlock or the number lock or the face unlock.... Pleeeease!
OK, I admit: I was completely wrong. Very sorry.
I tried this on AOSP Gingerbread and ICS, and in both cases, the pattern lock is part of the lockscreen that comes on when you turn on the screen, as OP said.
The problem that you have is that the pattern unlock HTC's pattern unlock app, it is not the normal Android pattern unlock (you can tell by the icon design, fonts etc). So it can't integrate with the stock lockscreen.
The only way to do what you want is to get rid of Sense 100% (not just hiding it), and that means use an AOSP-based ROM such as CM9, AOKP or "JollyRancher".

Thats what I hear! LeeDroid told me pretty much the same.. I normally would have jumped to go AOSP, but Sense isnt so heavy now and I quite like the framework, i.e the copy paste stuff, the browser seems to be more capable with handling frames etc.. I have changed my launcher, so I now get pretty much the best of both worlds!
But damn that forced lock screen!

[APP] Key Plus - Change LG G3 Volume key shortcuts to any app (without root)

Hello friends, I am Naveen Naushad, an indie Android developer from India. Recently I got a G3 D855 for myself and loved the volume quick launch option while the screen is off. I came from a Galaxy Note 1 which had an AOKP ROM that allowed you to toggle flashlight by holding the volume button. I missed that feature on G3 and wanted to enable it badly, that too without root as I am pretty much happy with the device as it is.
With that in mind, I set out to develop an app that allowed this without root access and here I am with LG Key Plus. With this app you can:
Toggle flashlight with built-in option, without touching the screen
Launch any app
Execute even Launcher shortcuts such as Direct Dial, Direct Navigation and much more.
Should work on all variants of G3, even the "mini" G3 variants such as G3 Beat, Stylus, S etc.. although I not tested
The idea behind this app is to set it as the default app for Volume keypress events. You just have to do it once.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apptuners.keyplusapp
The app is completely free, without ads. Works only on stock LG ROM. Tested successfully on a G3 D855 running KitKat (V10L) and Lollipop (V20E), which brings me to...
Lollipop Compatibility
I received Lollipop update today morning and guess what? It looks like LG has hardcoded their own Camera app as the default Volume Down app. That means you can't change the Volume Down action on Lollipop. But Volume Up works great. I believe most people wanted to change only the Volume Up shortcut (from Quick Memo to something useful) as Volume Down shortcut of camera is actually quite useful.
If you liked the app, please donate and support my work. And let me know your feedback. Thank you.
Wow thanks
Can I change the vol buttons to music controls? I'm on CM12
EDIT: nvm I didn't read the part "STOCK LG ROM only"
Sorry
it doesn't work on Cloudy L Rom V2 !!
Works fine on ChupaChups rom !! U can only toggle the volume up button!! But its ok since i use the volume down for camera any way !!
Thanks dude !!
Working on stock D851 except the volume plus key doesnt work if you have the quick circle case on. It didnt work with quick memo before installing app either so it is expected.
edit: nvm, found it
Thanks, very good app...

The volume up key is designated for qmemo before this mod. If you notice it doesnt work with qcircle case too only volume down. It would probably require this to be a root app to achieve that.

That's correct. And I want to keep the app as a non-root app as I am not planning to root my G3 any soon.
For some reason the screen stays off when I use the volume down key to activate the camera. The camera app opens, I just need to double tap to wake the screen. Cloudy1.2 on D850.
That shouldn't be happening. There is specific code written to wake the screen and unlock the device, before launching the chosen app (except when it is the built in flashlight).
Could you please change the shortcut to another app and see if that wakes the screen correctly?
The build in flashlight turns off after a couple of seconds and the notification gets stuck.

The "notification getting stuck" issue will be fixed in the next update but I still haven't figured out why the flashlight turns off quickly in certain devices.
App works great to change the volume up and be able to enable torch, thanks; but when the shortcut is changed from quick memo to torch I lose the ability to use quick memo to draw on what I see in screen and save it as screenshot.
So I had to uninstall the app to be able to "draw" on the screen again.

Avoid power button problems with LockScreen

As we can unlock our Nexus 5X with our fingerprint in a comfortable way, I think LockScreen is also great to lock the device from a (material design adapted) widget. And you can also use transparent widgets!
You can download it from Google Play (it's free!).
I've developed this app so, please, any feedback is welcome!

Doesn't work correctly on the 5X, once you have locked using the widget, you are then unable to unlock again with the fingerprint reader, you have to then use the keypad, that defeats the object of having a fingerprint sensor.

Just tested it already too, does not work for me.
And it seems to be a known issue since 2 others thread are talking about it already
Maybe there's something you guys have done differently that make this work but I've done this :
1/ setting double tap on home screen with nova launcher to launch Greenify's Hibernate and Lock screen
2/ once device locked and screen turned off, puting my finger on the fingerprint. It does wake the phone but asks for the pin code which does not when you lock the phone with the hardware power button
And it's the same behavior with other launchers and apps that can turn off the screen
