1500 mAh battery DealExtreme $8.70 - G2 and Desire Z Accessories

About a month ago I was browsing DealExtreme for some stuff and I ran into this for only $8.70: 3.7V 1500mAh Battery with Battery Charger + EU Plug Power Adapter Set for HTC desire Z
I ordered the 1500 mAh battery and nearly three weeks later it arrived in a yellow envelope. It works great and it comes with a wall charger for the extra battery (WITH some colourful LEDs (pink for charging and blue just for fun)). As I was just about to write this notification I browsed DX again and also found this one:
Replacement 3.7V 1500mAh Cellphone Battery with Charger for HTC Desire Z/Vision/BB96100. You might notice the lack of European power plug support, but it also is $0.70 less
You might also notice the USB port. I just tested it and it seems to be working (the red notification LED is on, but the battery icon doesn't change, might be due to the fact that the battery is already full).
I tested it and it works, so now it's up to you guys to order one if you are in need of an extra (cheap) battery!
Edit: On the wall charger is the following written on a label: For T7373 Touch Pro2 (HTC Touch Pro2/T7373/T7388/T8388)
So the battery of the HTC Vision might be the same as the Touch Pro 2?
Anyway, just thought I should share.
Edit2:

Curious about this as well as the fit. Any bulge on the door with this one? Did you have to do any mods to get it to fit like people have with the Red Chi Chi's (removing the wrapper, filing down edges)?

There are a number of other HTC batteries that would work (or could work). Good find.
Note: I've had the same charger for my HD2 batteries. Be extremely careful when you whip out the prongs. I had a set snap on me, rendering the charger useless.

The prongs on my wall charger do feel sturdy, but I can assume not all the Chinese stuff has the same quality.

I noticed the Temperature display that SetCPU has built in doesn't seem to show the proper temperature with the DX batteries. Caps out at 25 and it is definitely hotter than that.

Is the extra heat a major problem?

I got a freebie 1600mAh battery from an EVO4G and I peeled the tape off so it would fit. I noticed on the metal cover it said 1200mAh.

I didn't notice it, but SetCPU says the temp is 25.4 degrees. The battery doesn't get warm, it felt quite cold (dunno, about 20 degrees or so).

I hava a touch pro with a 1800mAh and the original 1500mAh battery, so after reading the post I pulled it out of the drawer. Unfortunately it doesn't fit without modifications. The size and location of the pins is the same, but there are 2 plastic slots on either side at the base of the battery that prevents it from being used.

Would it work the other way round then? Aka putting the Desire Z battery in the Touch Pro 2?

The other way around it doesn't fit either. Just tried and made come pictures to show you why.

to those that have purchased this battery, how many hours are total are you getting this with moderate use?

So I Bought A 3000mAh Cameron Sino Battery....

Hey guys, I bought the 3000mAh Cameron Sino battery on ebay for £12.50 and I love it! been using it for almost a week now and got nothing but good words for it. I got twice as much usage compared to the original battery. I am a power user and in 15hours I still got around 60% juice left, when the original battery usually had gone 0. Sure it's thicker and heavier but I prefer to have a thicker and heavier phone than a dead one! I can play with the phone as much as I want now and use those lovely live wallpapers! And I actually have a much better grip of the phone now. One minor gripe though is that the new battery cover causes the photos to have a dark grey colour on the corners like a pin hole effect. This is not the case for videos though.

I´ll rather have my phone slim and light. I´ll just keep an extra battery in my jacket for once it runs out =)

I charge the phone daily and sometimes once again midday if I run low while at work. Even though battery life is really poor, it has not been much of a problem for me yet. Since usually I'm always near a power source (home, work and Car). I also have a spare which I take if I think I'll be away from a power source for long. But so far I have not even once used the spare, because when I'm out (over the weekends or generally out with friends etc..) I don't use the phone as much. So it works out for me perfectly. . I don't have 20 home screen widgets pulling lot of crap off the net, have the Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth radios off unless I'm navigating. So the battery lasts when I'm not using it.
Here is a video of another extended battery (Mugen Power 3200mAh) for those who are interested in seeing how it looks on the phone (seek to 0:50). Personally I wouldn't buy anything like that, its too bulky and makes the phone look really ugly , YUCK !.
EDIT :
Now something like this on the other hand is more attractive than using an ugly extended battery. It gives you more power when needed, but don't have to have it always installed. Probably a better idea than carrying an extended battery (except for the size), since you don't have to switch off the phone and swap batteries , just plug this thing in when your battery is low .

And why should you care how your mobile looks?
I've personally been considering buying a bigger battery, but might settle on an external battery pack instead (as i need more battery power only in extreme circumstances, other times I generally have a charger or computer cable accessible)

Its only 5£ and does not reuire any battery removal. Simply clip on when required. Also comes with a car charger and multiple heads...All for 5£. I just carry it with me in case I run out and its more versatile and useable than standalone accesories.

Must admit, i am tempted with this. I don't get a full day's use out of my Galaxy S with my usage, so it is mighty tempting!
I've 'bitten the bullet' and purchased one. Maybe i'll get a full day's use out of my phone now before a charge is needed!
Just noticed this thread.
I also have the 3000mah battery.
Here's a copy/paste edited and joined few my own post's from another topic.
"Ha ha,battery sure if fat. The back cover snaps on fine and power, volume,USB connector port are as easy to access as before.
The cover it itself though does look and feel cheap and plasticy, but thats to be expected for the cheap price.
(Actually when I took off the original I notice it feels just as cheap...lol. Just more classy looking cause of the carbon fiber type pattern on it)
Almost looks like it was cut out from some hard packing plastic tray.Doesnt look so bad when its attached to the phone, shiny black.
Over all though Im glad I got it. Its not something Id use every day but it will be handy for when you havent got spare battery on you,or dont wanna change the battery. Or you cant use a charger.
First charge to about 5 hours.(with wall charger). But then I dunno how much power was in when I unpacked it so I guess a more accurate time for charging may be the next time I charge it.
Looks a bit weird, almost like a diff phone.
Here's few pics I took.

I've been using a 12v Lion battery pack off ebay, about 100mm x 75mm x 20mm.
It has a 12 DC out jack and a standard full size USB port you can plug in your usual SGS USB lead for a 5v charge output. Has a proper on/off switch and even incorporates a small LED flash-light/torch in one end.
You can use it as a back up, a charger or just an extended pack. Yes it's bulky, but it gives a pretty good extra capacity, at 5v it's rated at 4800 mAh.
Just doing an extra test, running media player and co-pilot GPS with the screen on and it's maintaining charge and I think actually charging albeit slowly.
Obviously has the benefit that you can use it for anything that will charge off USB and even run 12V appliances (only 1500mAh at 12V however, but will run an air-bed inflater enough to give you a good nights sleep).
Phil
also those speaker and camera holes are useless. the camera most likely wont work correctly and you will get a picture of part of the hole as well as echo from the speaker..
just use wall chargers with extra batteries and keep an extra battery in your pocket like i always do... one reason this version is better than iphone.. ie replaceable batteries

3500mah battery now available

Hey guys,..well Ive got the Cameron Sino 3000mah battery, thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=789679
But just found out there also now a 3500mah battery available..so I couldnt help myself and gave it a go.Just bought yesterday so will take a week or so to arrive.
This one as with the other high capacity batteries also comes with a custom back cover..but instead of the all fat ones like the Cameron Sino one the top bit where the speaker and camera are is still slimmer..only the bulge where the battery is is fatter...personally I think that doesnt look as good as all fat cover (not as natural..looks more like an add on) but I guess with this way there's no black edges on the corner of photo's like some people are reporting with the all fat ones.
Anyway..there's a few sellers on ebay selling them but this is the cheapest I found:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3500M-EXTEND...092212?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a0b1d3df4
Ha ha...I see its now USD $13 posted..yesterday when I clicked by now it was only USD $10.99
For me about AUD $11.48..(since current exchange rate is great now the time for us Aussies to buy from the U.S )
I bought it on Ebay for 11 Euro.
Looks good for long trips

Damn,he's now dropped the price again. This time down to USD $10.15! Thats even cheaper than what I paid..come on guys...gotta try it for that price..
I have already got the Cameron Sino 3000mah battery, but at 6.61GBP i thought i might as well order this one. Might well be a load of crap and might not even arrive, but its worth a go
Exactly.
I got the 3000mah Cameron Sino one too but had to try this one for that price.
Plus, dont forget, the back cover is a little different. Only the bottom section is fat,the top, where the camera and speaker are remains thinner so anyone who had complaints of the Cameron Sino all fat back cover making black edges around photos and the speaker a little muffled shouldnt complain here.
(Despite looking a little worse though I think)
Does anyone know how long this battery can hold a charge for?
would it be about 2.2xs longer?
Does anyone know a case that fits this? Preferably one that stays permanently on like those silicon ones?
What i don't get is that all of the extended batteries are so BIG..
Why not make a battery that is about 2 milimeter thicker and a case that only is bigger above the battery compartment..
In other words if you extend the 2/3 mm high hump on the regular cover about 1.5 inch on the SGS, you would have more room to put in a little bigger (2200mah) battery and you would still have a nice looking phone..
I would also like to know if theres any cases available for this size format. And its so weird how the capacity is ~2x more, but the size is 4x more lol.
My god, grrrr more batteries to buy! I'm starting to have way too many batteries. But its sooo cheap!!

Hmm.. A li-ion Polymore batter could be moulded to almost any shape and hold just a tad lower amps.. But they tend to be hell expensive compared to brick size li-ions that we rock. Iphones use li-ion polymore batts. But yeh, What i'm saying is taht we COULD get a decent size and shape but it would prob cost 2-3x more. I would love a batt thats say 2mm thick and cover whole back of the device which would maybe give it about 2500mah or more.

Gee,I see the prices have increased. When I bought mine you could get them for under USD$11 posted. As I did.
I have 3500mAh baterry now. It can joice my phone for a week, but it is kinda heavy and ugly, so I am using it only if I have to leave town for a weekend. It can survive even hard usage, playing games, and such. Took it from eBay.
I got mine delivered today. Charging as we speak. I ran across a site that exposes fake batteries and worry if this 3500mah battery is really just a big 2000mah battery now. Heres the site. What I noticed is that these ultra expensive Mugen batteries are so lowly rated. It seems that OEM batteries are best but they don't have a 3000mah battery! Hmmmmmmm

Check out my battery reviews in my sig to get an idea, I believe that the fat 3500 batteries have value that CANNOT be beat! (as long as added girth isn't minded)
A solid slim battery would be the OEM 1800mAh battery from the Epic Touch (just MAKE SURE it's true OEM and not a knock off that just looks like it... there are certain tells such as listed model numbers and other markings)
I find my OEM Samsung 1800mah to be substantial. Lasts the day and that's all I need I suppose. I can't stand fat batteries.

Yeah the 1800mAh batt is my favorite slim batt for sure just wish they were as cheap as the fat batts so you can choose between thin or capacity. I don't believe they deserve to be more than $1 in difference for the price/ performance to be on par with da fatties

Thanks for the links... I have been very lucky with my current battery, but think I should probably get a backup before this one bites the dust. Your information will be very useful to me thanks!

You're quite welcome!! I may go on to review my dad's 5 batteries for his S4 (2 OEM and 3 Generic) but I'm still sporting our good old Epic. Might upgrade/switch to a Stratosphere II (Epic on crack)

A solid slim battery would be the OEM 1800mAh battery from the Epic Touch (just MAKE SURE it's true OEM and not a knock off that just looks like it... there are certain tells such as listed model numbers and other markings)

I bought what appear to be OEM samsung 1800 mAh batteries from Amazon and they weren't stellar performers. i think it might be possible that these are seconds or b-stock or something. I had the stock 1400 that came with my phone in rotation and I just didn't see a big difference with the 1800.
However, I just bought Anker 1800s and those things have impressed me. 2 batteries and an outboard charger for $20 is a helluva deal, too. I am gun shy about buying the ones that are marked "samsung" now due to the negative experience I had. Your mileage may vary.

*1500mAh stock
You may have bought a counterfeit in OEM's clothing. Can you get some pictures up of your "OEM" samsung 1800 batts??
I hear good things about Anker batteries but haven't had the pleasure of using them nor testing them. Would you want me to analyze yours?
I just bought this battery a week ago and feel as though it may be a knock off. It only gets about 8 hours of life before dying. How can you tell if it's a fake?
I guess I could have resized...oops sorry!

Hmm...that does appear to be genuine...
Maybe they sent you some used ones or possible "new" ones that have sit unused in the warehouse for too long. Would you like me to analyze them for ya?? (or any other batteries)
As you saw my dad hadn't had his for longer than 6 months and his 1800 battery dropped from 1800mAh to about 1500mAh average.
Have you fully discharged and charged them a couple times. They might need that.

I was expecting to see a MFG date on it like my two (3 year old) factory batteries I have. After a few days of using the 1800 I went back to them since they at least make it through the day. They've had a few charge cycles or more.
The first day or so was rough since the phone was reporting 15-20% power and then would just power off. I'd turn it back on and it'd say 5% or something. Admittedly when I put this new battery in I deleted the battery stats file so I attributed this initial behavior to that.
I was planning to return the battery if it's worth my time/money since I got it fairly cheap on ebay (doh!). I should have read these threads before shopping there for bargains.
How would you go about analyzing batteries? Need to send them to you?

3500 mah battery same as stock in size...

After someone had mentioned 3500 battery on ebay that was the same size as the stock battery, had to check it out...
Anyone else had any experience with this battery?
Shipping is 20 dollars and it take a couple weeks to arrive.

Oh ok thanks! I currently have my Stock battery and 2 3500Mah batteries that fit in the stock cover. It works so far for me because that lets me keep it in my regular thin casing. The 2 3500Mah batteries + a separate wall charging unit that fits 1 battery (also has 1 usb port on it as well!) was like $22 on Ebay. They definately hold a longer charge than the stock battery. Normally get atleast 1.5-2 hours of extra screen time with those batteries. Only thing they don't have is NFC, but i have the stock battery for that and rarely use it anyways. Its working for me so far, but i just don't know if the back cover is going to hold up in the long run when its being taken off every few days to swap a battery if needed. It seems kind of cheaply made and i don't know how long it will last. But seems ok still.

I'm wondering if this is the zerolemon 3000 rebranded to 3500.
I've been using them for a few weeks now, and i've had no issues with them. The charge definitely lasts longer than the stock battery, and its working out good for me. The battery is definately a tad thicker and noticeably heavier, but it all fits within the regular back cover of the phone. And i guess they do have NFC. They just dont say it on the battery, but its advertised with it so i guess it does. I don't use it enough so i havent tried.

You're certain that it does and that it's not simply just buyer's placebo?
Is there anyway you can confirm NFC?
If this is real...damn it just when I got my 3000mah from zerolemon

Many users often charge when the phone open, in fact, this will be very easy to damage your phone and life, because in the process of charging the phone's circuit board may have a fever, this time if there are external phone, you may produce an instant return current, on the phone's internal parts damage.

This guy had free shipping.
price is cheap enough but just not worth the risk to me, I used to buy no name Chinese batteries for my og evo back in the day, but I buy only buy oem batteries and chargers now a days. but I will say if the reviews are good, I'd be willing to try these out, I like the extra capacity, but I just bought a Samsung battery and charger kit so no use for these really.

I know what you're saying.
I am going to try to go waterproof on my phone, so I don't want to change out, but I did get 2 3500 batteries.
I also have the otterbox defender if that knock off lifeproof doesn't pan out.
TEW for the win on this.
Granted, I still have 2 stock batteries + charger, a 5200 onite battery, and ther zero lemon 7500 battery, I am ready for almost any scenario, lol.

Are there any screenshoot with this battery? is the real 3500mah ?

The guy who has it, says they are bigger than stock slightly and weigh more. I agree that they probably aren't 3500, but probably around 3000. If they have nfc and are 3000, then they are better than zerolemon's.

Trying this weird M-COM brand Battery, Claims to have 5000 mAH

So, I just bought this battery
Probably you guys haven't seen brand like this before
M-COM (Claims to be 5000 mAH in capacity)
Surprisingly this battery have temperature sensor.
I see lot of you guys having problem with battery replacement with built in temperature sensor in other thread.
Bought it for IDR 90.000 (6,5 USD) from local online shop.

Well here goes nothing.
I crack open my angler and recognizes that this battery cable is shorter about 1mm, but it's a no problem for me, just pull a little bit force an viola.
(btw metrics are different here)
It booted up so I try downloading Accu Battery app.
Been using this battery for 3 hours for now, I charge this fella up for a little time and got 4% for 140-160 mAH
Here is my rough calculation
Estimated real battery capacity
3800-4300 mAH instead 5000 mAH
I'll keep you guys updated when Accu Battery done it's job
Any update?

I don't think it have one, i looked both battery and package only seeing plain and branding, sorry.
There's barcode actually (8547182249565)
I heard that barcode are unique to a product but, i couldn't find its use (google won't show anything) rather than pointlessly scanning at them.
That's about right. Thanks for looking.

No thickness added, performs good.
No issue at all. except I forgot to mention that the unit is a bit shorter, enough to make a wiggle inside if you don't stick an adhesive in there so i wedge a folded paper at the bottom of battery slot to keep the battery in place.

You swapped the battery out yourself, I'm guessing?
How difficult is it to do yourself? I heard its easy to crack the camera lens and break a few other parts while doing this and not being an expert, would it be impossible for a first timer? Would I need any other special tools besides pry tool? My N6P battery experience has been terrible.

It is pretty easy to crack the camera lens, so it's highly recommended to buy a spare camera lens part in case the old one breaks. I'm going to be replacing both the battery AND the entire back metal frame soon. Here's a video that demonstrates how to replace both: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UetgEdh7mDc

I just replaced my battery and I would recommend getting an X-acto knife and a heat gun. The heat gun helps soften the glue to make it easier to remove everything and the X-acto knife I used to pry everything apart. It took me about 30 minutes to replace the battery.

Yeah a heat gun would make the disassembly much more easier. Luckily I work at this phone booth (for installing screen protectors) and we have a heat gun there. I'm probably gonna do the whole installation at my workplace, we don't get much customers anyways lol.

Hi, BTW this is my 1st post here
Could you please try testing with "Ampere"?
PlayStore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.ampere&hl=en_US
I've used both AccuBattery and Ampere. On my Nexus 6p with original OEM battery it displays:
Max Capaity: 3450 mAh
Estimate Life: 70%
Currently running:
Pixelboot's Lineage 17 with the 4 Core Boot image in hopes that disabling the "4 Big Cores" (ARM Cortex-A57) should help battery life but based on my testing it doesn't help and in fact seems that battery drains faster
TESTING:
Ampere - Power while Idle: min: -220 mA to max: -370 mA
Ampere - Power playing Video: min: -600 mA to max - 910 mA (Only 2 apps open)
Ampere - Power switching Apps: min: -600 mA to max - 1120 mA
To put in perspective,
Battery loss down 1% for every 1 minute
Undoubtedly I need to replace my battery

With all those extra things to buy I'm not sure its worth it at this point as the phone with working parts can be found for $100-150 these days, I'll probably put any cash I've saved twords a future model and leave this as a sort of tablet use with a charge cable handy.

Um well that's basically what my 6P is lol. It's a used 6P that I bought for $90, and am looking to replace its faulty battery and damaged back. In fact, I just did the replacement yesterday. The parts required is not a big deal, it's the disassembly that's a huge pain.
The camera visor and plastic bottom were fairly easy to remove with the heat gun, but the metal cover took a fair bit of struggle to get it off, and in the end it damaged a bit of the display's plastic rim. The hardest part was removing the battery, which was absolutely hell. The battery adhesive is literally glued shut onto the frame, and it takes a lot of force and pressure to get it out. And the dilemma is that if you use too much force, you are risking of puncturing the battery, which I unfortunately did. Waited till next day for the battery to cool down (from the puncture) and I slowly managed to removed it by using plastic gift cards instead of the metal wedge tool that I used before.
Was a tricky experience, but in the end it worked out.
Glad it worked out. I'm terrible with handling these type of tiny electronic components I know I would surely break it heheh.
Be interesting to track your new battery with something like AccuBattery and see if it infact keeps its rated capacity over time. I noticed some bad after market batteries look like there performing well at first and then suddenly the maximum capacity starts dramatically falling after each charge cycle.
