Help with Gtablet - G Tablet General

Okay,
I need some help. My Gtablet last night when I clicked on the wifi I heard a noise and then my screen went completely dead. I have tried going into CWM and reflashing both TNT 4.2 and I even partioned the external sdcard to 2048:0. I also partioned the internal partioned the internal sdcard but then the screen went black.
I can run nvflash but it always fails during this process at the 8th image.
Anymore help would be appreciated or should I see if I can get it
exchanged(hopefully, they will have another one at Office Depot)??

That doesn't sound good to me at all. Just the fact that you stated that it made a noise before going blank makes me suspect that there may be a hardware failure involved and I would take it back for a replacement A.S.A.P.

The noise sounded like it came from the speaker.

I got it fixed by using nvflash..thank you xda and tegratab community.

Oh, speaker pop, OK then, if nvflash fixed it I am glad that it wasn't anything serious. LOL

[Q] All audio speakers not functioning, not even headphone jack

First off id like to say, yes im a noob and yes i researched this. Looked for a good 30 minutes with no luck so I figured id go right for the source and start something new. If im just an idiot who hasn't looked hard enough, point me in the right direction and ill gladly fallow
Ok, so heres my story....
I decided to try and root my Inspire with the mind set of gaining access to Netflix by changing the Manufacturer and model code in the rom, but I never really got that far. I used This program and fallowed the video tutorial to the best of my abilities. I did back up my phone using Wondershare Mobilego, but could only grab contacts, messages and apps. I also copied the entire contents of my SD card into a separate folder before I started the format. Everything was going smooth, I got to the boot menu on the phone, and unpacked/updated the PD98IMG.zip file. I did the reboot and opened the rom editor included, went through the process and it said it was gonna crash but it never did. I waited and waited and it never happend. I pressed the home button and tried to open it again, worked fine. It said it was gonna crash again, never did. At this point I was getting a little mad. Im almost sure I entered everything right. I rebooted the phone and it came up with the boot manager, but guess what It freezes. So I just turned off the phone and booted back up again. It works fine other than the fact that it thinks its a Desire HD and everything went all British on me. Im guessing its stuck on the downgrade. The real problem is that any and all speakers do not work. When people call I cant hear a thing. The rear speaker doesn't work either. The headphone jack doesn't even work! WTF?! Got any suggestions on what to do?
Thanks,
Adam
If you can get into recovery just flash an inspire rom. Or find the stock rooted one that attn1 did. It flashes through hboot and also flashes the newest ATT ota radio.

+1. It also does a full wipe. It should fix you up and you should be good to go to flash a custom rom if you so choose. Just look in the dev forum for attn1's Ace_Cingular_US rom. Be sure to get the one with sideloading enabled.

Sounds like you are stuck with a bad radio combo. Do as suggested above and you, should be fine. Worst case is set aside about an hour and start from stock, then use Ace Hack Kit (just the one I used, not sure about the others) just follow the manual and you will be fine.

I had to do everything twice with the hack kit. Every step. It was rather harried but I think I had similar issues, and I just tried it all again and it worked the second time. The issue does sound recoverable.

[Q] Camera crashes phone

Droid Charge, rooted, PBJ 7-31 SV Kernel, SD Speed Increase
I've only had this phone a couple weeks, but I think this is a new problem. When I try to take a picture, the phone freezes up. You hear an abbreviated shutter sound, the flash fires, and the screen goes black. None of the vol+ power, vol+ home power, etc; do anything. The only way to get the phone working again is to pull the battery.
In doing some simple testing, it only seems to do it when the flash is enabled. The camcorder works fine also.
Sound familiar to anyone?

its a known issue afaik, probably kernel related but don't quote me on it... haven't heard of a fix aside from maybe reflashing/re-odining your rom
Not happening to me, can we get some other info like your kernel, rom and free space?
Beamed from my Droid Charge using the XDA premium app
I have the same problem. It only seems to happen when the battery gets low, around 30% and the flash on. Pull the battery and restart the phone shows it did not take the picture.
I am running Eclipse 1.31, peanutbutta jelly time kernal, and I have 28.91gb free space.
That is a sign that you are undervolting too aggresively.
Elucid, im not sure thats it either. I've taken hundreds of pics with my phone. This morning while taking pics of my kids for first day of school. The cam crashed my phone. I mean super crashed. Pulled battery and reset, and my acore, swype, and android keyboard were gone. Had to completely ODIN my phone.
I have had mine crash and when I recovered i started getting all kinds of force close errors and had to odin back to stock.
I was running gummycharge with several versions of the peanutbutter jelly. I went totally back to stock and then flashed humble. Humble seems to have this problem less, but I'm not 100% sure.
I have found that the crash usually occurs when the phone is multitasking. Running pandora and taking a picture will ALWAYS crash. Running Barnacle Wifi and taking a picture crashes as well.

That seems plausible. How do I check the voltage? I'm running PBJ 8-7, have not made any changes. Should I install SetCPU?
Bump.
Guys, I really need some help here. Is there another kernel I should try? I'm on the latest PBNJ (not OC). I want to stay rooted but I might have to go back to stock if that fixes the camera problem. I have two little kids and I'm missing out on some great shots of them because of this ridiculous camera problem.

your phone might just not like undervolting... I believe imnuts' PBJ voodoo kernel is set at -50mhz across the board which is really conservative, you could always disable lagfix and use his non-voodoo PBJ kernel

I am running the voodoo flavor of PBJT (0730) without the camera issue. I had a couple of freezes and lost root a couple of times on the 0807 release. Wiping cache from CWM fixed the lost root temporarily and going back to 0730 stabilized everything again.
FWIW, there have been several posts on VZW's forums about the camera
issue on presumably stock phones.

I may have found out what the problem is. I was having the same problem and it seems to be the sd card. It HAS to be the Samsung sd card. When i took my phone back they gave me a new one and it had the Samsung sd card inside when i checked it. It also solves the HD video problem too. Hope this helps.

I think he means when they switched it out, they gave him a Class 4 sd. The original Charges came with a Class 2 card, and at some point they switched to shipping them with a 4.

Ah. Well my Charge shipped with a Class 4 Sandisk. So that's not the solution.
My wife just got hers and it's stock and has this issue. Stock card. She hasn't had me root it yet. Would a cache wipe work?

The new phone they gave me had a Samsung SD card in it. The old one had a sandisk class 4. The only one that will work is the Samsung SD card not the sandisk class 2 or 4. Hope this helps.

There is an extensive thread about this on the Verizon forums, with no valid solution being proposed. Some are arguing that its a defective battery, which would make sense.
I'm at the end of my rope with this problem. If this thing locks up one more time when I'm trying to get a shot of my kids, I'm going to be looking at a warranty replacement.

Audio problems icbnb/ audiophile redux

hey guys just checking if anyone else has had this problem. Received phone about a month ago and quickly flashed the final icbnb and have since flashed audiophile since my first flash I've been getting a skip whenever I play mp3s on my phone. Have reflashed and redid mp3s. Wiped and fix permission but no help. Have tried all players and voodoo settings. Please help!

Well am no savvy here but every time I have weird problems like that I Odin Whitehawks KD1 then EXT4 converter and then flash ROMs. Lately I am only flashing Audiophiles but I think that could work for ROMs that are EXT4/Voodoo friendly. Hope all goes well.
*Not responsible for any bricks. Just trying yo help. Maybe some more experienced user will tell you the fix. But that is what I would do. If you Odin make sure you disable Voodoo or you will brick phone.

what are you using to play the mp3s? try double twist. if that doesnt work and you've odined, it may be a hardware problem
i have been experiencing this same problem. im on the icbinb gb 2.3.4 its like every tenth song will skip for half a second. i just use the stock mp3 player so that could be it but i know its not the songs themselves bc i would replay the same part to see if it would skip again.
Yea tried doubletwist ,modded player in audiophile, mixzing all have same problem. It'll play a whole song no skip then maybe skip twice next song. Haven't Odin but I will try as a last resort before declaring hardware issue. Will try and post results thx. I'm glad I'm not the only one lol

Tried other players no luck about to odin my phone to stock. Using [Odin][ROM] Whitehawkx's KC1 with CWM recovery is this an acceptable rom to flash to stock? Disabling voodoo before i do also. Would have tried last nite but had thunderstorms in area and my lights kept going out lol

It was totally the sd card. I believe as soon as i odined back after reformatting it it just stopped working and was not recognizable. Snuck my wifes sd and it worked right away. And i gotta say WOW that bad sd card was causing a lot of issues that i never expected with it being about 2 months since getting it.Had noticed it was taking a bit longer to load on my pc when i added files over 30 secs. Audiophile looks amazing now the lock screen was still puzzle pieces before and never had those cool check boxes either great work and thx everyone for their advice!

[Q] phone overheats with ROMs

Hi everyone,
I'm having overheating issues with the custom ROMs put up in the forums here. It's really frustrating because I love the interface but I can crashes and overheats pretty often.
I was running a rooted i727r with official ICS, I used ROM manager to flash to paranoid android ICS and JB, I also tried liquified (I think that;s what it's called) and everything runs great except I sometimes get overheating (up to 45 degrees celcius) at which point the phone just shuts itself off. And the worst part is that the battery gets super drained when that happens. I have done nothing to trigger and has happened when it was in my hand as well as in my pockets when in sleep mode.
I don't want to run official ICS, so if there is a solution, I'd be really grateful!
Also on an unrelated note, I can't get swype to work on these custom roms, does anyone have an idea?
Thanks in advance!
Use clockwork mod or twrp to flash and if you haven't yet, try your roms with the stock kernel.
Don't use rom manager and do some reading.

ROM Manager can and will brick your phone if you use it to flash ROMs on a Skyrocket. Read up and learn before doing things like that.
Stay on stock rooted and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, switch to a TW-based ROM and use the stock kernel. If your phone is still cool, then move with caution into AOSP territory (which seems to be where you want to go) and consider UC'ing/UV'ing AFTER you've read up on them and understand the possible side effects.
my phone gets hot sometimes, but usually when i'm browsing for a while. doesn't seem to be overly hot though but definitely hot to the touch

I don't mean to sound defensive, but I've read all the stickies...they tell me how to do things, not WHY to do things (kinda like a recipe book). I might be ignorant in the technicalities, but I know my way around following instructions. Telling me to just READ is not helping me, telling me WHAT to read or WHERE to go is better, and I'll be glad to read.
I took your many advices and flashed back to the semi-official ICS using the CWM recovery. The overheating and crashing problems are no longer happening, at least not during all of today which is a good sign in my eye. I still don't have an indication why it wasn't working when I used to the ROMs provided in the development section. I follow the instructions to the tee and I still had the problem (even when I used the CWM instead of ROM manager pro).
I was having severe heating probs. I never let it get so hot that it autoshutdown but I'd do it manually. I found that there was a serious wakelock happening and even while awake media scanner was going nuts. On it's own it just chewed up the battery but combine a high useage app with media scanner and the phone got hot. I ended up doing a stock rom install via Odin, reformatting my ex sd card. It's been good ever since. You haven't been using Zedge by any chance??

No it wasn't installed because I loved the roms built in ringtones but I did notice that it was taking longer than usual to read the media from the external sd card...do you think it had something to do with that?

Could be. Try pulling everything off your sd card and put on your pc. Format the card and put everything back on.

It is the Media card...a couple of my friends have had the overheating issues on their devices. I would suggest formatting the media card on the PC as previously stated. If that fails then try another SD card since it could just be the SD card.
Thank you all, I will give this a try and report back!

I will opt to say that it might be more related to how you are using the phone.
I've ran plenty of custom roms even OC to 1.9ghz but the phone will get hot no matter what with heavy wifi usage or talking I must say.
With that said, the custom rom will most likely not help unless you aim for roms that aim for that kind of purpose.
Others may beg to differ but that's my 2centz.
Alright, so I did what some of you said and disabled the media storage at start up. The crashes and overheating are fixed! But, now I can't see my pictures that I stopped in the external sd card when I'm browsing for them through my files or through the gallery. I can, however, see them through third party file browsers. It's there a way that I can at least see them them in my gallery? I tried f5 but it didn't work.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
New to the S3 and this rom. Root, flash went well, and so far, I'm loving this rom. One problem that is stumping me is this:
Using ADW launcher, have a direct dial short cut to voice mail. The voice mail contact is set up to dial *86 ,,xxxx, so with one tap, I can call vm and access messages.
However, the keyboard then becomes non responsive. I can't delete or save messages, and if I have multiple messages, can't get to the next one.
Any suggestions on how to work around this appreciated.
I'm running the 3.2 beta version of LS, and really only have this, and one other minor issue.
Thank you.
Still haven't solved this, but here's more clarification:
Phone is running LiquidSmooth 4.2.1m v2.1m beta 3.2
1. Using a 'direct dial shortcut. the rom dialer has a contact set up named voicemail, that is programmed: *86;,,XXXX. When I hit the direct dial shortcut, voicemail is dialed, xxxx is sent, and I can hear my first voicemail. The problem is the dialpad is non responsive. So, I can't save or delete the first voicemail, nor can I proceed to listen to the next one.
If I dial *86, and enter the password manually, then the dial pad works.
Even if I dial any contact withGoDialer, then, open keyboard to dial and extension, I get the stock dialer.
I drive a lot, and need as few distractions as possible. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I tried pretty much everything on the internet before posting here.
My stock/no root phone started bootlooping. So I used Odin and root66.tar to get it back. Everything seemed to be good. After I got 3 updates:1) 30mb, 2) 60mb and 3) JB updated OTA. After 60Mb update my phone said Samsung and shows unlocked lock. After JB update my phone bootloops again.
I though it it was a bad update and reflashed stock no root 4.0.4 and OTA did the same thing.
I tried the gs3 tool to flash the recovery and it always fails.
I would appreciate any help.... I have been dealing with this non sense for the past 24h.

I am trying to install the stock systemui.apk file on my phone after I screwed up and flashed the wrong one, but installation always fails. I have moved the .apk to the /system/app folder and have changed the permission of the .apk but the file still won't install. What can I do?
carrier
Since you carrier wont load I believe following this tutorial with help fix your problem but check the conditions. Im not allowed to post links apparently so I attached it. I'll also flash cleanrom 5.6 and find out if its a software thing and get back to you. But it seems to me like its a MEID issue. So check the conditions in the link and if they are true I'd go that way. If not re-flash, clean install would be my suggestion. Yeah I run Cynagenmod 10.1 and it even knows I'm on Verizon. And Scott's roms always have the carrier.

I can't recall when I last had it working but my NFC completely stopped working. I have tried reverting back to absolute stock rooted nandroid. That didn't work so I Odin booted back to the original unrooted firmware. Still same problem. If I try to uncheck NFC from the more options it moves over and is immediately flipped back. I have gone into a Verizon wireless store to seek help but the guy made a sarcastic remark that his iPhone wouldn't have that problem...but I also as a few other notes I have tried hells ROM and also flashing the NFC file with the ROM which also didn't work and have tried the few NFC Google wallet fixes I have seen, also sadly no luck. I'm stubborn and don't want to give up if anyone knows if there is a possible fix, hope you can possibly help!

replacement?
I think you may have a faulty chip. Also is your battery NFC capable? But to be honest Verizon will replace it for free if your under the 1 year warranty and don't have water damage or anything like that. Because if it doesn't work on the stock rom it's most likely a hardware problem in this case. So I would contact your carrier about that.

I have the stock battery and when I did call Verizon the first time they wanted me to contact Samsung first then get back to them so I figured i'd bring it here. It had worked before so I was wondering if maybe it fried somehow? Phone has never been dropped, no water damage, watch because I said that i'll drop it in 5 minutes and shatter my screen I guess I'll just try Samsung tomorrow and see what they have to say.
nfc
Actually I just thought of something else to try. Have you gone in and force quit nfc and cleared the app data? That may resolve the problem. Nfc will be under all apps and it is named nfc service.

Good idea, just tried it and it didn't do anything. Also tried that, rebooted recovery, wiped dalvick and cache fixed permissions then tried again with no luck. =/
nfc
Are you using a non stock kernel? Also when you went back to stock did you erase everything on the phone?
