Audio problems icbnb/ audiophile redux - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

hey guys just checking if anyone else has had this problem. Received phone about a month ago and quickly flashed the final icbnb and have since flashed audiophile since my first flash I've been getting a skip whenever I play mp3s on my phone. Have reflashed and redid mp3s. Wiped and fix permission but no help. Have tried all players and voodoo settings. Please help!

Well am no savvy here but every time I have weird problems like that I Odin Whitehawks KD1 then EXT4 converter and then flash ROMs. Lately I am only flashing Audiophiles but I think that could work for ROMs that are EXT4/Voodoo friendly. Hope all goes well.
*Not responsible for any bricks. Just trying yo help. Maybe some more experienced user will tell you the fix. But that is what I would do. If you Odin make sure you disable Voodoo or you will brick phone.

what are you using to play the mp3s? try double twist. if that doesnt work and you've odined, it may be a hardware problem

i have been experiencing this same problem. im on the icbinb gb 2.3.4 its like every tenth song will skip for half a second. i just use the stock mp3 player so that could be it but i know its not the songs themselves bc i would replay the same part to see if it would skip again.

Yea tried doubletwist ,modded player in audiophile, mixzing all have same problem. It'll play a whole song no skip then maybe skip twice next song. Haven't Odin but I will try as a last resort before declaring hardware issue. Will try and post results thx. I'm glad I'm not the only one lol

I used to experience this issue before lagfix but ever since we got that its been a thing of the past. Ext4 should fix you right up

Tried other players no luck about to odin my phone to stock. Using [Odin][ROM] Whitehawkx's KC1 with CWM recovery is this an acceptable rom to flash to stock? Disabling voodoo before i do also. Would have tried last nite but had thunderstorms in area and my lights kept going out lol

Grr
Followed all Odin instructions flashed whitehawke kd1 booted and ran fine but the sd card cannot be read show blank memory card in file manager and unavailable in sd card and storage. connected to pc with card reader but cant be read there either any ideas? do i need a new sd card?

mb that was the issue bad card?

YUP
It was totally the sd card. I believe as soon as i odined back after reformatting it it just stopped working and was not recognizable. Snuck my wifes sd and it worked right away. And i gotta say WOW that bad sd card was causing a lot of issues that i never expected with it being about 2 months since getting it.Had noticed it was taking a bit longer to load on my pc when i added files over 30 secs. Audiophile looks amazing now the lock screen was still puzzle pieces before and never had those cool check boxes either great work and thx everyone for their advice!

Help with Gtablet

Okay,
I need some help. My Gtablet last night when I clicked on the wifi I heard a noise and then my screen went completely dead. I have tried going into CWM and reflashing both TNT 4.2 and I even partioned the external sdcard to 2048:0. I also partioned the internal partioned the internal sdcard but then the screen went black.
I can run nvflash but it always fails during this process at the 8th image.
Anymore help would be appreciated or should I see if I can get it
exchanged(hopefully, they will have another one at Office Depot)??

That doesn't sound good to me at all. Just the fact that you stated that it made a noise before going blank makes me suspect that there may be a hardware failure involved and I would take it back for a replacement A.S.A.P.
The noise sounded like it came from the speaker.

SD card unexpectedly removed error.....

Ugh. This is so annoying. I have a HTC inspire all stock. Just the newest update from ATT. Also when I got the phone about 2 months ago I purchased a 16 gig class 2 sandisk SD card and had this error over and over.
So I formatted it in the phone and had zero issues for a month. Now today we went on a trip and I used Google maps with navigation and once I got to my destination and closed out maps and did other things on my phone all of a sudden guess what came back. Yep. SD card removed. This time I received it like 5 times. The last time I pulled both the SD card and battery also I uninstalled the update to Google maps and so far its fine. I just wish they would freaking figure the problem out I'm getting annoyed with it.
Anyone else have this issue yet or a fix for it?

That is pretty dang weird! I have a bone stock Inspire as well. I am using just the 8 gig class 4 SanDisc card that came with the phone and have not had that problem. However, I have not used navigation and only use data when I'm on my home WiFi network. Sorry I can't help you further, maybe one of these other guys on here will be able to help you correct it. I would say try backing up the entire SD card to your computer, to back up all you files on it, and try reformatting from your computer. When I say from your computer, I mean take it out of the phone and get it connected directly to the pc. If that doesn't work, I'm all outta options. Good luck, and let us know if that works or not.

Yeah I will try it when I get home on Sunday. There are a ton of posts on googles site for developers with this same issue across a ton of other phone manuacturers. Some say its 2.2 issue but idk. I am so mad now its doing it again. Now I can lock the screen and 20 minutes later ill unlock and it does the SD card again. I managed to unmount it before it did it again. I wish Google would fix it.
Here is the post I'm talking about. I know it says LG ally but if you see all the posts there are a lot of them different brands.

Hmmm. Let me uninstall weatherbug its worth a shot. I have had it on my phone for a few weeks now without issue tho.

I would wonder if it doesn't have something to do with the slower data transfer speeds of class 2 flash media, but that may only effect the ability to record 720p video.
Hopefully it's a REAL 16 GB card from SanDisk, and not a counterfeit card.
Well I deleted weatherbug app and no SD card inexpecdly removed error. Oh well that's weird. And its a real card I purchased it at Hastings in Richmond ky.
Also slower speed hasn't effected anything. I recorded some videos of my son playing and it was just fine.

I used to have that issue all the time when I was on froyo. I haven't had it at all on gingerbread. I think it is an app2sd problem in froyo.
i saw something similar but with the sim card...
i think it was the door
Well the error is back. God this is annoying as Hell. Once the screen locks when it goes to sleep I guess it comes right back. I tried installing contract killers this morning and it caused it to do this again. So I deleted it and it won't stop....

Do you happen to be running the "Flight Control" game app? It can do strange stuff if you leave it paused for too long (forcing a battery-pullout).
nope no flight control app... well i had to back up my photos and videos online so i can format the card in the phone.... its been about 30 minutes so far so good.. i hope this is fixed... sucks because i lost all my progress on all my angry birds games and everything lol...
Still getting this crap. It's fine unless I access the card on a game. If I play contract killer the first time I open it works fine. But if I close and go back it will say checking integrity of the file it will close out and POP up the sd card error. You guys think heat can do this? It was fine till I drove with maps on and the battery got warm. I just wonder if the card is going bad?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Ok so weird. Now that I am home with a WiFi connection I havent received this error at all in 24 hours..... ugh of course when I was in the woods (literally) this past weekend it flipped out and almost messed up my whole weekend. Now I'm home its fine. FML

Well that's pretty strange..
Do you get the same sort of problem if your phone is in Airplane mode?
Do you have a mini/micro SD card reader for your PC (or another phone) to try the card in? If so, maybe you could try playing a large video file directly from the card, just to see if stays stable.
Yeah I can try that today. That's a good idea never thought to do that. Now airplane mode I never tried but so far its been two days and no sd card error. I do know I am going to start backing that Dang thing up from now on tho after this.

[Q] Camera crashes phone

Droid Charge, rooted, PBJ 7-31 SV Kernel, SD Speed Increase
I've only had this phone a couple weeks, but I think this is a new problem. When I try to take a picture, the phone freezes up. You hear an abbreviated shutter sound, the flash fires, and the screen goes black. None of the vol+ power, vol+ home power, etc; do anything. The only way to get the phone working again is to pull the battery.
In doing some simple testing, it only seems to do it when the flash is enabled. The camcorder works fine also.
Sound familiar to anyone?

its a known issue afaik, probably kernel related but don't quote me on it... haven't heard of a fix aside from maybe reflashing/re-odining your rom
Not happening to me, can we get some other info like your kernel, rom and free space?
Beamed from my Droid Charge using the XDA premium app
I have the same problem. It only seems to happen when the battery gets low, around 30% and the flash on. Pull the battery and restart the phone shows it did not take the picture.
I am running Eclipse 1.31, peanutbutta jelly time kernal, and I have 28.91gb free space.
That is a sign that you are undervolting too aggresively.
Elucid, im not sure thats it either. I've taken hundreds of pics with my phone. This morning while taking pics of my kids for first day of school. The cam crashed my phone. I mean super crashed. Pulled battery and reset, and my acore, swype, and android keyboard were gone. Had to completely ODIN my phone.
I have had mine crash and when I recovered i started getting all kinds of force close errors and had to odin back to stock.
I was running gummycharge with several versions of the peanutbutter jelly. I went totally back to stock and then flashed humble. Humble seems to have this problem less, but I'm not 100% sure.
I have found that the crash usually occurs when the phone is multitasking. Running pandora and taking a picture will ALWAYS crash. Running Barnacle Wifi and taking a picture crashes as well.

That seems plausible. How do I check the voltage? I'm running PBJ 8-7, have not made any changes. Should I install SetCPU?
Bump.
Guys, I really need some help here. Is there another kernel I should try? I'm on the latest PBNJ (not OC). I want to stay rooted but I might have to go back to stock if that fixes the camera problem. I have two little kids and I'm missing out on some great shots of them because of this ridiculous camera problem.

your phone might just not like undervolting... I believe imnuts' PBJ voodoo kernel is set at -50mhz across the board which is really conservative, you could always disable lagfix and use his non-voodoo PBJ kernel

I am running the voodoo flavor of PBJT (0730) without the camera issue. I had a couple of freezes and lost root a couple of times on the 0807 release. Wiping cache from CWM fixed the lost root temporarily and going back to 0730 stabilized everything again.
FWIW, there have been several posts on VZW's forums about the camera
issue on presumably stock phones.

I may have found out what the problem is. I was having the same problem and it seems to be the sd card. It HAS to be the Samsung sd card. When i took my phone back they gave me a new one and it had the Samsung sd card inside when i checked it. It also solves the HD video problem too. Hope this helps.

I think he means when they switched it out, they gave him a Class 4 sd. The original Charges came with a Class 2 card, and at some point they switched to shipping them with a 4.

There is an extensive thread about this on the Verizon forums, with no valid solution being proposed. Some are arguing that its a defective battery, which would make sense.
I'm at the end of my rope with this problem. If this thing locks up one more time when I'm trying to get a shot of my kids, I'm going to be looking at a warranty replacement.

[Q] phone overheats with ROMs

Hi everyone,
I'm having overheating issues with the custom ROMs put up in the forums here. It's really frustrating because I love the interface but I can crashes and overheats pretty often.
I was running a rooted i727r with official ICS, I used ROM manager to flash to paranoid android ICS and JB, I also tried liquified (I think that;s what it's called) and everything runs great except I sometimes get overheating (up to 45 degrees celcius) at which point the phone just shuts itself off. And the worst part is that the battery gets super drained when that happens. I have done nothing to trigger and has happened when it was in my hand as well as in my pockets when in sleep mode.
I don't want to run official ICS, so if there is a solution, I'd be really grateful!
Also on an unrelated note, I can't get swype to work on these custom roms, does anyone have an idea?
Thanks in advance!
Use clockwork mod or twrp to flash and if you haven't yet, try your roms with the stock kernel.
Don't use rom manager and do some reading.

ROM Manager can and will brick your phone if you use it to flash ROMs on a Skyrocket. Read up and learn before doing things like that.
Stay on stock rooted and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, switch to a TW-based ROM and use the stock kernel. If your phone is still cool, then move with caution into AOSP territory (which seems to be where you want to go) and consider UC'ing/UV'ing AFTER you've read up on them and understand the possible side effects.
my phone gets hot sometimes, but usually when i'm browsing for a while. doesn't seem to be overly hot though but definitely hot to the touch

I don't mean to sound defensive, but I've read all the stickies...they tell me how to do things, not WHY to do things (kinda like a recipe book). I might be ignorant in the technicalities, but I know my way around following instructions. Telling me to just READ is not helping me, telling me WHAT to read or WHERE to go is better, and I'll be glad to read.
I took your many advices and flashed back to the semi-official ICS using the CWM recovery. The overheating and crashing problems are no longer happening, at least not during all of today which is a good sign in my eye. I still don't have an indication why it wasn't working when I used to the ROMs provided in the development section. I follow the instructions to the tee and I still had the problem (even when I used the CWM instead of ROM manager pro).
I was having severe heating probs. I never let it get so hot that it autoshutdown but I'd do it manually. I found that there was a serious wakelock happening and even while awake media scanner was going nuts. On it's own it just chewed up the battery but combine a high useage app with media scanner and the phone got hot. I ended up doing a stock rom install via Odin, reformatting my ex sd card. It's been good ever since. You haven't been using Zedge by any chance??

No it wasn't installed because I loved the roms built in ringtones but I did notice that it was taking longer than usual to read the media from the external sd card...do you think it had something to do with that?

Could be. Try pulling everything off your sd card and put on your pc. Format the card and put everything back on.

It is the Media card...a couple of my friends have had the overheating issues on their devices. I would suggest formatting the media card on the PC as previously stated. If that fails then try another SD card since it could just be the SD card.

I will opt to say that it might be more related to how you are using the phone.
I've ran plenty of custom roms even OC to 1.9ghz but the phone will get hot no matter what with heavy wifi usage or talking I must say.
With that said, the custom rom will most likely not help unless you aim for roms that aim for that kind of purpose.
Others may beg to differ but that's my 2centz.
Alright, so I did what some of you said and disabled the media storage at start up. The crashes and overheating are fixed! But, now I can't see my pictures that I stopped in the external sd card when I'm browsing for them through my files or through the gallery. I can, however, see them through third party file browsers. It's there a way that I can at least see them them in my gallery? I tried f5 but it didn't work.
Thanks in advance

[?] Radom Choppiness and Reboots

Ive looked through the threads but none related to my issue.. Ive been in the rooting game for 5 years or so, i know what im doing and whats going on -- This particular issue bugs the crap outta me -- been trying to resolve this issue for a little over a month now.. No solution so far.
-- No matter what Rom i use ICS or JB.. No matter what Kernel i use.. I get random reboots (MAINLY while listening to music).. Actually, come to think of it -- thats the only time i get reboots =/ --
While listening to music, it'll be fine for awhile -- then i think (when the cpu goes into a lower state) the music starts to chop a bit... Then when i try to wake the phone, it takes a pretty long time for the unlock screen to show -- when it finally does, and when i try to unlock it, the screen doesnt register to my touch -- it delays. When i finally get the phone unlocked (music still playing) there is soo much lag and choppiness with the phone..
at this point, i would stop playing the music but the phone would still lag until i reboot the phone. Then everything is normal... (Until i play music again)
Another issue (but on the same topic) -- When i play music for awhile, the phone will just reboot out of no where. (This is the most common issue for me).
Ive tried a lot of different cpu settings-- highs and lows, different I/O's, and different governors.. No avail. .. ive even tried different music apps -- same thing happens
Ive changed out my SD card like 3 times and i do the whole wipe thing when coming from different roms..
* But this is the kicker * -- It only started doing this like a little over a month ago and ive been testing/trying different solutions ever since --- My phone has never done this before -- and i havent changed my *routine* of flashing either -- so idk what it could be.
Any solutions guys..?? I have the lastest firmware and everything -- just throwing that out there as well.
EDIT -- Im leaning towards an early stage of a bad battery perhaps..? I have the stock one.
I know you said you took sd card out, but have you wiped and formatted your sd card on a computer and put back in? My phone has acted up every so often and formatting my sd card has helped.

ill update this, when and or if the phones craps out again.
