I've tried a lot of calendar apps from the market, but I can't find any calendar that let's me set reminders the way I want them.
Example: to be on time for a meeting at 9.15 I have to wake up at 7.45, so I want to set a reminder alarm to wake me up 1,5 hours before the meeting.
In my old Symbian calendar I'd simply set the meeting at 9.15 and the alarm at 7.45.
But in Android's calendar I can't enter the reminder time. It only let's me choose between 1 hour before (too late) or 2 hours before (too early).
This seems to be a Google calendar problem. And therefore a general Android calendar problem, because most calendar apps are just frontends for Google's calendar.
This picture summarizes the problem:

Question: is there a calendar app for Android that let's me set an alarm reminder time, so that I can my my calendar ring 1.5 hours before the appointment? Or 1 hour and 15 minutes, or 5h45 min., or whatever time I want instead of being stuck with the inadequate reminder time options of Android's built-in calendar?
Of course I'd also like a widget to show my calendar entries on my home screen. And if the calendar comes with a built-in tasks/to-do list and birthday reminders that would be cool too, but not absolutely required. Syncing is optional, an offline calendar is OK too.
CalenGoo lets me set a reminder with a custom number of minutes. Zero, 75, or 666 minutes, anything goes.
That's small step in the right direction. But only a small one.
Because entering a reminder in CalenGo only works with an annoying scrolling list. There's no method to punch in a reminder time, so if you want a reminder at 8 am for a meeting at 3.45 pm you have to scroll all the way down to 465 minutes. And before you can do that, you have to do the maths yourself, because CalenGoo refuses to calculate that 3.45 pm - 8 am = 465 minutes.
I simply want to type "8.00 am" in the box and let the phone do the maths for me. Any non-Android phone can do that straight out of the box. Is there any Android calendar app that can do the same thing?

The EVO is my first Android phone, coming from a WinMo 6.1 HTC Fuze.
Is there a way to get the calender app or either of the two calender widgets included with the EVO to display your next appointment on the main home screen, like the Fuze did?
I know there is a tiny calender icon at the top of the screen if you have an appointment coming up, but I was hoping for something right on the home screen.
For instance, with the Fuze, if you had an appointment in three days, it would show that as your next upcoming appointment, allowing you to keep it in mind.
Let me take a screen shot and you tell me if its what you are looking for.

I would love to know what that agenda widget you've got there is, as well as the one that shows batt/phone/microSD storage. Please
Agenda Widget and Mini Info. Hope that helps.

I ended up finding the Android Agenda Widget last night on the market. Didn't have any luck with the other though so thanks!

Umm. The stock android calendar widget shows the next entry in your calendar like it sounds the Fuze did/does
I’m not getting any of mine. Is there a setting to add it?
I use smooth calandar
Each and every Android calendar app I tried has the same problem, which is summarized in this picture:

The problem: I can't find any calendar that let's me set reminders the way I want them.

In my old Symbian calendar I'd simply set the meeting at 9.00 and the alarm at 7.45.
But in Android's calendar I can't enter the reminder time. It only lets me choose between 1 hour before (too late) or 2 hours before (too early).
The only app that lets you set a custom reminder time is Pocket Informant. Unfortunately Pocket Informant is an unfinished product, and the betas expire soon after you install them.
What makes the limited number of reminder options in all the calendar apps totally ridiculous is that you can set the exact number of minutes in google's online calendar. Zero minutes, 4 hours, 666 minutes, the calendar on google.com/calendar lets you enter anything you like.
Therefore each and every calendar app based on google could have an option to set a custom number of minutes/hours (like pocket informant). Moreover, all these apps could also offer time entry the symbian way. They only need to calculate the number of minutes between the time you enter and the start time of the appointment so that you don't have to do the maths yourself.
So the problem is not google's calendar. The programs that interact with google's calendar are just incomplete. A few extra lines of code would do the job.
Is there anyone who could make a calendar (or modify one of the existing calendar apps) that will let you set any number of minutes in the reminder field? Even better: just enter a time (like 7.45) and let the app do the maths for you (i.e. 9.00 minus 7.45 is 75 minutes).
When I scroll all the way down for a reminder there is an option for "custom". Maybe this is just for my phone, the Samsung Intercept. I remember reading something somewhere that the calendar they used was modified a bit but I'm not completely sure.
Could you post a copy the .apk of your samsung calendar? Maybe it will work on my Motorola too? Thanx!
I miss that feature so much too!
I've browsed AppBrain site to find something but found absolutely nothing.
This is not the solution but if you have a really important event for which you need a reminder you could add the event as a Task in Gtask. It allows to schedule customized reminders.
TeeVee allows you to track your favorite shows, so you never miss an episode. You can also see the shows and episodes information.

I just discovered this app today, and I'm glad I did. It seems to be the only one that quickly and easily syncs with my Google calendar.
One question: if I install the app on two different devices that are linked to the same Google account, and set both apps to sync with my calendar, would I get double entries on my calendar if I have the same show list on both devices?
Suggestions/errors
It would be nice to be able to mark what episodes I have already watched.
The month is wrong. On the details screen for a show it shows 15/0/2012 instead of 15/1/2012.
The dates should be shown in the local date format.
Would be nice on the calendar page to be able to go back in time, to see which shows were missed.
Onthe "On Air" page, the text doesn't always show completely when there are more than 2 lines. However, it's not consistent. Some shows with 2 or 3 lines fully readable, whereas some only have 1 1/2 line??
An option to only search either US or UK shows?
In the filter option, it should be possible to filter based on words within a title. That way you won't have to remember if there is a "The" as the first word.
It's a good start, and it looks nice.
Hello everybody!
Would you like to use your tablet as a live billboard showing the current time as well as the RSS feed of your choice with large fonts that you could read from across the room ?
It is useful for:
a) Night watch
b) Glance at the screen from across the room when you prepare to leave to work.

One thing the app doesn't try to do is be another application that shows temperature, or integrate with aggregation services.
Features:
You have full control over most of the aspects of the application, here are some of the features:
a) whether to show the hour in bold or not
b) color for hour / minutes and 12/24 hours format
c) color and font size of the headlines
d) fade-in animation for the free version (2 more animations on the PRO version)
e) refresh interval
f) it does not integrate with Google / Facebook etc, you have to type in a valid RSS feed URL.
This uses the Daydream functionality added in Android 4.2 thus will not work if you have an older version of Android.
It does not install an Application icon, you have to go to Settings / Display, activate the Daydream functionality if it is currently disabled, then you will see a new entry - Wakeup Daydream. You can then configure it and set it as default.
I have set the Daydream to start when my tablet is connected to the charger.
Animations are nice to have, but they use a lot of the processor power. Please set the Animation to None if you want to minimize CPU usage.

PS: I have decided to write this app when one morning I had to make a long detour because the park was closed due to bad weather. Had I known this in advance when I left home (it was the first news on the local news website) I would have saved 10-15 minutes of my time. I like to leave my old Huawei tablet on the night stand and use it as a night watch + glance from time to time to it to check the news as I get ready to leave to work.
I hope it will save you some time and keep you more informed
Hi,
I've just purchased an android phone (Note 8) and had a question about google maps travel widgets. In IOS there was a handy widget which gave current travel times to home/work based on traffic conditions. It looked like the below. I'm having trouble locating something similar for Android though. Since it's a google product surely it exists ?

Hi,
I'm looking for that too
Google Now the assistant on your device. Most call it Hey Google, or Google Assistant. In your app drawer open the Google app, then at the bottom it says More. This opens a profile looking page and in the list select Customize and here you can set many custom things based on your preferences including Commute. It will show you Travel time updates, Updates on traffic incidents, Travel times to get home, Travel info for getting to work, Travel times to places you visit and Nearby public transit stops. Then a list of preferences. It works pretty well. I don't know how it knows when there are accidents but it will tell you that, including the expected delay times. One word of caution though, if you change your navigation preferences in Google Maps, for example I often choose to turn on Avoid Highways because the fastest way is not always the most fun or interesting way, and your commute uses interstates it will show you routes and times that don't include the interstate until you turn this option off. So for a few days my normally 35 minute drive showed nearly an hour until it occurred to me that my last navigation was one where I had chosen to avoid highways. I'm assuming the same is true for Avoid Toll Roads and Avoid Ferries.
So that's the Google app>More>Customize>Commute.
You'll get updates in your notifications, it won't actually show as a widget. Sorry I understood what you wanted but didn't notice that you wanted it in a widget form. On a side note you can ask Google to display your Commute time by saying Hey Google or Ok Google and asking for your commute time.
