Poor performance with live wallpapers on the G2X?

Any reason why ALL live wallpapers perform much better on my girlfriends Mytouch 4G? Both phones using Launcher Pro Plus and same live wallpapers. On the MT4G, Launcher Pro is much smoother.

I use the Doom live wallpaper, it is both epic, and smooth.

maybe its specific live wallpapers or launcher pro or launchers. i am using go launcher with the weather live wallpaper from go also and no lag whatsoever.

Like I said, it's all live wallpapers. I'm not getting any lag, everything is still snappy, just switching/scrolling through screens is choppy with live wallpapers. One the reasons I use Launcher Pro is for the super smooth scrolling.

I use zeam launcher. Thats smooth with live wallpaper..

I just tried out Zeam. You're right, live wallpapers does not slow it down. Too bad scrolling isn't as smooth to begin with though. This tells me that Launcher Pro just performs better on the MT4G.

ADW Launcher EX is good here.

It is not happening any more after switching to adw. It was happening on the stock launcher.

I run any of the live wallpapers and use the stock launcher that came with Froyo on the G2x and I have no problems with the live wallpapers. But when I was using Launcher Pro, it was kinda laggy. I think that Launcher Pro is just not for the G2x.

I run a few of the live wallpapers from maxelus.net ... **** is unbelievable causes no noticeable battery drain and runs smooth. And its pretty sick. Some wallpapers are BS and can make your phone run slow access personal info etc. You need to pretend this phone is a PC and all the no-no' s apply... including dl'g aps and or wallpapers

awesome live wallpapers.....ice and inferno galaxy hes got a couple badass ones....vortex galaxy is beast tho

Vortex galaxy makes the stock launcher laggy in my case.

Any of you guys run the beach or windmill live wallpaper ported over from the Samsung galaxy s 2? I've noticed that my g2x lags quite a bit unless I O'CLOCK the CPU for better performance with either of those LWP on...... also if you could let me know if your battery takes a hit when you let the LWP turn on GPS to get current weather info?

Butter smooth with ADW EX...could be your launcher? ADW EX is hardware accelerated now (since May update) Launcher Pro is not.
Just tried Vortex Galaxy...It's sick! Oh, no lag with ADW EX.

Yes it is Launcher Pro + G2x that doesn't like live wallpapers. I just tried ADWEX and it was nice and smooth. I got a refund after 14 minutes, too bad we can't try it out out longer before we decide if we want to keep it or not.

Guys im having trouble with a major lag during the screens when on Live wallpaper on my Infuse any help please?

Im have the captain America one and its fine i get to hit the shield and it all works fine. no lag for me

I have no problems with any of the live wallpapers I've installed (shadow galaxy, beautiful widget weather, nexus honeycomb, I-O hyperspace, Matrix, Asus Water, swirling Galaxy, thunderstorm and a few others as well as the stock). Tey all run very smooth. But I do notice some occasional lag when swiping between screens or with window/app launching animations- i.e some stuttering as an app window maximizes up, when there is a live wallpaper running. I feel like this is more pronounced after the most recent OTA update so I'm wondering if some of the new scrollable widgets are putting strain on the system too.
One thing you can check is whether the particular wallpaper you'e using has a setting to turn up or down the cpu usage. Might help.

[Q] Live wallpaper like Nexus and such causing lag on app drawer

Hi all,
when selecting a live wallpaper such as the Nexus live wallpaper on the G2X it seems like it causes some lag on the app drawer. The scrolling is choppy/laggy where when you have a regular wallpaper set, that is not the case.
I thought with such hardware like tegra2 these things would not happen...
Is there something we can do to fix this issue?!
This same problem/effect appears on Stock Froyo, eViL's GB2x, Xboarder's Stock Tweaked OTA Gingerbread, Gingerbread OTA 2.3.3 Rooted

Ive yet to find a device that with a certain amount of apps the app drawer doesnt lose FPS when a live wallpaper is active.
I too see the slight lag and choppiness and hate it and always wonder why LWP do that.

+1 on this! I have my phone running @1.2GHz and I've tried multiple launchers and multiple Live Wallpapers! Every single one lags!
My brother has a Samsung Galaxy S 4G (Single-core Hummingbird @1GHz - Stock), and it doesn't lag at all when he's running live wallpapers.
I'm on CM7, what's the deal?

I am on the latest CM7 nightly with the CM7 kernel with the Nexus live wallpaper with the ICS 4 Launcher and my phone runs so smooth and I have over 120 apps installed. I don't know why but when I was over clocked at 1.55 ghz I had.the same problem but when I went back to the stock kernel my app drawer and scrolling from screen to screen was smoother.

Performance? Stuttering

Touchwiz launcher stuttering when swiping. Even more stuttering while playing music.

This phone is just laggy period. You can thank the crapdragon processor.

Yeah. I miss the i777 Exynos. Everyday, I find something that used to be perfect on the i777, but choppy on i727. But when LTE hits California 2-8 months from now, it'll make up for it when I tether.

+1 Coming from the I777 where everything was just so smooth I'm still debating whether return it. I'm guessing is a software issue.

Question is will ICS make things better or worse. I'm willing to give up 10-20% in cpu performance for the five times better network performance.

you have an issue. no lag here at all when swiping even when playing music.. don't blame the proc.

So maybe I do have a defective unit. But the thing is I'm not just the only one noticing the lag. I could only get 1 return. Osgs2 or a new skyrocket? Have you notice any lag on the twlauncher with a few Widgets? And worst when playing music. Swipe quickly left and right.

i run several widgets... beweather, taskmanager, traffic monitor, google search, agenda calendar and 6- 8 bookmarks.
without knowing what those with this issue are running it is very hard to say. do not limit your list to just widgets. list all 3rd party apps and stock apps that you have not removed. also include what rom and tweaks you have done...

Music app lags when it's loading album art. Derp.

I have 0 lag. Even with stock rom/kernel I had 0 lag by removing the crapwidgets running and installing spare parts to set Anim to Fast.
TouchWiz is definitely not the fastest of UI's anyway, but it is running mint here.

That might be your perception. Is not smooth PERIOD.
Android PERSE is laggy and choppy.
iPhone is SMOOTH
Launcher pro is nice
Go launcher is a tad laggy.
Maybe ICS.
To all the Android owners that I have talked about that say, their phone is smooth and mint I can tell them look here.... Their reply.. DAMMIT!

At&T SGS2 was running super smooth for me, no matter how many Widgets, live wallpaper or apps running in the background. The only slight stutter I ve seen on the skyrocket is in the launcher and only visible when running a few Widgets. Could be a firmware issue from "Samsung" not stock android. Comparing perfomance iPhone to android is not fair at the time, if anything compare it to WP7 since there's no multitasking, Widgets, background process, live wallpaper,ect on either phones.

Non scrolling wallpaper mod?

Is there such thing as keeping the wallpaper from scrolling mod? I can't stand frame rate loss when scrolling... And I think it's due to the processor processing both things at once. I'm on clean DE, I'm remember this same exact thing on my infuse and a rom came out that didn't have wallpaper scroll and it was a lot more smooth.
Anyways just wondering if there was such thing.

try the ultrasmooth rossie mod. i have heard some crazy smooth results from people who have used it.
edit: you're on DE you say? then there is an option in apex launcher to disable wallpaper scrolling.
