[Q] Important Help please. Nexus One Rebooting - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I'm quite upset and I don't really know what to do. You see, I bought I Nexus One and since I'm a computer tech (Network is my strong point and I also got a Professional diploma of informatics support)I thought I could go and mod my thing out. Thing is everything worked fine until I downloaded Cyanogen with Rom Manager Premium (Crack3d)and tried to install it. At first it simply shut down the screen, rebooted a few times and restarted normally, then I retried downloading and it brought me to the reboot in recovery mode to install cyanogen popup. Clicked ok and then it rebooted another 3-4 times and when it came back, it was cyanogen splash screen bugging and rebooting in the middle of the loading. I have Android SDK if that changes anything, I just really don't even know how to bring any sort of menu from my pc or my phone.
P.S. I didn't cleared cache and didnt do any backup[thats no that important].
Thanks
-Ed

First, please don't double post. You don't need to start two threads for the same problem.
Second, I'd start by searching the nexus one forum, reading through the wiki, then, if you still have questions or need assistance, posting in the nexus one q&a forum.

... No help was given, neither did I found anything about my specific problem. Now I might seem rude but can someones stop making the cop and actually help me?

What's this 'cracked' thing you mention? I truly hope you're not saying it was a warez copy that you downloaded to avoid paying for it? The App developer posts his work on this forum and would just love to meet you!
You started flashing custom ROMs without doing a backup? Bit unusual for a 'computer tech' with a 'professional diploma' to be so reckless.

Threads closed will deal with it personally

[Q] no os installed. are you sure you wish to reboot?

I had installed cm10 on my one x using twrp but then the camera and wifi weren't working so i tried to remove cm10. I wiped the phone then i got this message "no os installed. are you sure you wish to reboot? i rebooted the phone and now every time it reaches the boot up screen(htc quietly brilliant) the phone shuts off and then reboots again and when it reaches the screen it does the same thing over and over and over.
I need some help to get my phone back up and running pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Can you help me??????
The amount of threads and posts I've seen you make about this is pathetic..just give up return to stock..or you can actually do a bit of reading and searching...like what do you think is going to happen if you wipe than reboot...a cm10 Rom will magically come up for you? Come on now
If you not helping that's fine but not everyone knows how to do these things. I've read and i haven't found anything relevant to my at&t one x and what i have found I've done and i still have the problem.
Don't be so angry
just flash a rom not hard dude. vol down + power get into bootloader then go to recovery not that hard either.
There sure has been a rash of people flashing roms without the slightest idea of how to do it. It's scary. I need to go into the unbricking phone business. $50 a phone sound good?

You are 100% in saying not everyone knows how to do things...but that's why we have like 100000 tutorials in the one xl section for people to read and get comfortable with their phones and flashing.. I can tell you're a person who said f reading and went to flashing and now you have no idea what's going on... And it's clear you didn't search for an answer it would have took ten seconds to find it... I'll let you figure this one out on your own by reading

1. You wiped your OS. No OS, no boot.
2. You need to flash a new rom. This list will show you what's out there and how to do it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237

[Completed] Phone inoperable did nothing but followed steps.

Ok so I am unsure if someone is filtering out OLD topics but i keep coming across FORUM posts from people and it seems like they are getting no help or being referred to NON existent topics.
I just recently bought a HTC ONE M8 H/K from sprint. I have had android for a decade and am seriously tired of the ROOT it people. so I figured why not no down falls and everyone says it is easy. Well I am Murphy last name law and you people have not seen or know the things I am about to post
I recently spent over 32 hours watching video and preparing for ROOTING. I unlocked phone got Pilz touch recovery and everything worked fine. I even got CWM and SUPERSU and Busy box. all of which needed OTHER files to work properly. Again a few forced quits everything was fine.
I wanted to Switch to TWRP and the install didnt go through. however now I have BOOTloop. trust me this is the tip of the berg at this point.
Just short of finding NO help after another 24hrs binge session on the CPU and just shy of RUNNING MY PHONE OVER WITH A DAMN CAR>
I get oh so simple easy fix and the only posts I see are FIXED IT!!! so that helps me approximately as much as my phone helps me make phone calls currently.
After the boot loop SEVERAL friends versed in this so called ROOTING (which I still find to be a hoax and not actually possible by any means at this point and time.) and no one has any clue. Tried flashing ROMS RUU's everything comes back to NO will not work.
Then it brings me to the STOCK RUU config for the HK M8 which seemed like it was going to work through ADB flash but guess what. 2 hrs idle NOTHING. after that The recovery program dropped out and boot loader only stated RUU in the menu. (something never before logged in a forum or post as I can tell) after many attempts to do GOD KNOWS WHAT WITHOUT ANSWERS as i was about to smash my beautiful gold phone into a dozen tiny peices and claim accident the Recovery came back to...... You guessed it NOTHING. All directories are UNMOUNTED and cannot be mounted.
I am stuck. Seriously you all fix my phone or help i am willing to send gifts because I am out 700$ now on this nice paperweight but everything and everyone tells me. OH SO SIMPLE you have recovery it aint no thang.
Well guess what it is and I am tired of being so PISSED OFF for something that was so automated.
Again I am Murphy and what you attempt to get me to follow will come up with some REALLY weird repercussions I will post back.
Please oh mighty gods of ruining my life. Spare me this one thing I will never ask for another again.
How do I get my phone to just WORK, Simple. Right?
Hi there! I think I found a thread that can get you back on track. Please read every word carefully and follow every step. If you have further trouble or want to clarify anything, please ask in the thread. They know the device best and can help you I'm sure.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2503646
I'm afraid that is the extent of what we do in the XDA Assist Section. We are guides...pointing people in the right direction when they can't find what they are looking for. Unfortunately we don't do hands on support in this section, so as I said....if you need a further hand, I am sure someone in the thread I linked can help.
And make sure anything you download and flash is for your model. And as always, do a Nandroid backup in recovery... before flashing anything new....it can be a lifesaver to help restore you when you hit trouble.
Good luck!
Details
Let me re iterate.
All guides are demanding S-Off (cannot as I cannot acess phone apps to do so)
All guides need HOME access for apps to modify certain things
I cannot:
Push packet through adb as they are unreadable
Get past boot screen
Recovery is only 40% operational with visibilty of phone only working sometime.
Cannot flash
Cannot push
Cannot fastboot
Cannot see device on CPU as it is stuck in recovery
ALL DIRECTORIES in /SDCARD have been removed
No Firmware
No RUU
No img
As far as I can tell.....Phone is empty and cannot be populated with anythin. I did manage to get SuperSu pushed through and installed. But how do I open it?
No ROOT access as well in the recovery.
I followed ALL STEPS of EASY guides even downloaded one button app that runs it all for me. Can't talk to phone does not see it in ADB.
The other guide I went to was helpful but I have already attempted all of those things.
With an empty phone NO DATA and no ability to get ADB to even run data over cable I am baffled.
I did exactly like the 500 guides i read said.
1) bootlock unlock
2)instal recovery (Philzmod)
3) get CWM (retrieved from playstore) Need a .zip to run in ADB
Phone worked fine until I changed from Philz mod to TWRP which never took place. Philz mod still runs but TWRP said it installed.
Now I have a completely worthless empty phone and I have cried about a tub worth of tears over the 700 i will be dropping over the next year for a piece of metal.
Oh and 99.9% of time if ADB DOES do something either no directory once pushed, cannot read or cannot FIND/Open directory stating BAD installation aborted I NEED a better recovery
I understand your frustration. Not a fun situation at all.
As I said, XDA Assist is here to help navigate the website. Not to troubleshoot I'm afraid.
The purpose of XDA Assist... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764768
The very best place to ask for help in your situation is right here, in the Q&A section for your device... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764768
The people there know your device best. Start a thread that's to the point, polite and accurate....what is exactly wrong, and the exact steps you took to get there. And hopefully help will follow.
Hope it can be solved for you!

[Q] Nvidia Shield black screen on boot

I rooted my Nvidia shield a day or 2 ago and everything was working fine, until i i went to the play store to look for some apps. it wouldn't connect. i tried everything anyone suggested and nothing worked. i tried completely resetting the whole thing. that didn't work. then i found a guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2110225 and at the bottom he explains that if you delete Hosts file under system/etc/ and reboot and Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache. well i ended up deleting the whole system/etc/ folder. i so dumbly deleted the whole thing and now my nvidia shield will not boot. it gets stuck on a black screen during the boot process after the nvidia shield thing comes up. i tried reflashing the root_shield.img, i tried the recovery options and thats not working. please help me
Thank you.

EDIT: I SOLVED THIS PROBLEM BY USING SHIELD RAM, WHICH CAN BE FOUND HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2661067
Man I'm sorry these guys on the forums are ignoring you, try shield ram, restore bone stock, and it should work, I hope you can still boot into boot loader, if I were you I would have gone nuts, especially when you come back emty handed after asking the forums, just wish there was a better averting questions implementation on xda, its like once your question is ignored for a week, its done for good, hope this help tho
WOW, I forgot to read your edit, I'm sorry

[Completed] stupid andriod reset.. im lost

soo i dont even know what todo or even where to ask... everything i search on multiple websites is irrelevant.. im probably looking in the wrong places.. any help or a finger in the right direction would be amazing..
i have a boost branded htc one sv that ive had rooted for over a year. havent done much with my root capabilities other then enable my wifi tether and install useful apps that require root.. havent really messed with to many roms or anything too crazy.
well i soon relized that after i rooted it when i lost battery power the phone would boot into my teamwin recovery mod and freeze... it would still charge however just wouldnt respond. after a bit i would just pull that battery to get out of the frozen screen, boot into the bootloader and select recovery. then the TWRP would actually respond when it booted! just selected reboot system and off i went until the next time i completely wore out the battery. this was annoying but didnt bother me too much because everything still worked fine..
now about month or two ago while trying out some new apps my phone randomly shut off.. then after that everytime it started back up it has about enough time to load everything up and shuts off again.. and again and again stuck in a reboot loop.. ive tried deleteing temp files and checking what logs i can find but nothing helped.. the only way i can get out of this loop is to do a factory restore/wipe using the recovery mod. then the phone works normally again and i still have root.
but now wether or not i install anything after the reset, if i have a power loss i go through the same thing as normal starting it up as i always have done and it goes right back into the reboot loop.. here i go with yet another reset.... ive pushed this issue to the back of my todo list many times due to a very busy schedule recently but its very aggravating and i dont know how to go about fixing..
Hi!
I can't seem to find a specific guide to return to stock for your device, which is what you likely need to do.....but I found a great index thread with all kinds of info and file links....
>*Legacy & Low Activity Devices*>*HTC One SV*>*One SV General*>*[INDEX] Search and find all what belongs to HTC One SV
If you need more help, here is the Q&A section for your device...you can ask for help here...
>*Legacy & Low Activity Devices*>*HTC One SV*>*One SV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
Thanks i couldnt find the forum for my phone... such a huge and awesome place to find info just hard to locate sometimes.. i already had that index thread bookmarked from before but i suppose ill give it another look.
if a admin or mod wants to move this thread to that q&a forum go for it.. not trying to double post but im still looking for a answer..
i would atleast like to know what i did or what went wrong for me to have these issues in the first place.

[Completed] [Q] nexus 5 SoftBricked?

Hi! Was playing around with my phone this morning and decided i would try and get Cyanogen mod on my phone.. It was previously untouched for the past like 6 months but for some reason decided to go for it.. One of my friends who is fairly confident but lives half the province away decided to help me.. I dont know anything about modding first off.. First I started by trying to use the one touch cyanogen mod thing.. Unsuccessful.. He told me to download the Nexus root toolkit so I did.. After awhile and some errors I got a driver and managed to unlock and root my phone.. My friend then had to go to school but said the rest would be easy.. so without his help I continued.. I looked up a video on how to get Cyanogen mod and I got the TWRP on my phone and had Gapps on the phone aswell.. dont know what I did exactly but all I know is my phone is now not working how I want it to..
Problems:
It connects to the laptop but the laptop doesnt show the file folders. (previously had "Stick mount" on my device)
also while the phone is on it keeps popping up tabs saying "unfortunatly "App name" has stopped. The two apps that keep coming up are GooglePlay Services, eu.chainfire.supersu and com.google.process.gapps.
I cant do anything and am super frustrated.
What should I do?
Hi, thank you for using XDA assist. Before you do anything with your phone you should really spend some time learning about it. That way if you mess up you'll know how to fix it. Start here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...urce-guides-info-threads-linked-read-t2784527 Your best bet right now is probably to flash the stock firmware and start the process all over again. Also see this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5 If you have further questions you can ask in the Q&A section of the forum.
