Samsung Galaxy S Froyo! - General Topics

So i'm thinking since that one guy on here sued tmobile and samsung about the vibrants lack of froyo thats why they rolled out the vibrants froyo. So people need to sue the other carriers along with samsung to get the other froyo updates released for the other phones!

The reason why there was the lawsuit was because Samsung was "holding the ota update to increase profits of the vibrant 4g". So there was the lawsuit for unfair business practices. Some phones are just not capable for the update.

Samsung infuse dead???

Just wondering if the infuse is dead or if Samsung and att are Judy being very very slow about releasing it.
Could it be delayed due to att's lack of true 4g and Samsung wont release it to them under att's false 4g. If i were Samsung I wouldn't let att ruin what had potential to be a great phone. But I would atleast let my customer base know a little about what is going on with it.
This as well as the sgs2 not being released until 3rd quarter or later in the states is starting to make me lose faith in both companies, along with att lying about their 4g and purposfully throttling down speeds on the inspire and atrix.
It might be getting time to try another carrier and just forget about Samsung.

if that were the case, t-mobile wouldnt have been aple to release the galaxy s 4g. and technically there is no true 4G avalible anywhere in america. By that standard LTE doesnt count as 4G 'till you hit the LTE-Advanced mark which wont be for a few years. unfortunatley the big companies are going to decide what '4g is' (even so much that the ITU was going to change the standard) once we hit LTE-Advanced well be crusing at speeds around 800mbps-1gbps
When those days come we won't need laotops any longer. Can't wait.
I was waiting for the infuse out the sgs2 but am impatient. Im like a kid at Christmas with this stuff. Now I have an inspire and have a nexus s with att 3g on its way. Should keep me happy for awhile I hope. If not my wife might kill me.

Meh, I was pretty excited for the screen size and specs, however it's only single core and the Galaxy S 2 should be coming out next month. If ATT sold it for under 200 it would be a great phone to buy and I think a lot of people who don't want an iPhone would pick it up.

Galaxy S II

For all the people that want the GSII as there next phone I think I have some bad news.....BAD

It doesn't mean it is either. Plus Verizon and Sprint really lowers the chance of AT&T getting one.

What are you talking about? The Galaxy S was on nearly all carriers. No reason that Galaxy S II will not be not to mention the rumored name will be AT&T Attain.
IT will be released by at&t as the Samsung Attain:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/16/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-us-carrier-names-revealed-atandt-attain-veri/
Go figure :O
But alas, no 4.5' screen
SGS2 will come to ATT, and most likely about same time.
It already passed FCC with ATT-specific frequencies.
So yeah. VZW news came first, that's all. Actually, second, Sprint SGS2 news came first.
Yeah the attain was announced like wayyyy last month.... ATT is first to the scene... Verizon and sprint is kinda on the coat tails...
Who cares about sgs2, I'm ok with the infuse and I will be eligible for upgrade on June 13 5 days from now and I will use that for the iPhone 5 to sell it for may be $1,500 or more in London. I hope.

actually that was a miscommunication.
they really meant to so Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
I still have upgrade option after i upgraded to the infuse. has been there for a month now.. or so.
Attain or iPhone 5??? hmmm
Where did you buy the infuse?
this is false info...go back to the link read the bottom
UPDATE: False alarm, folks. According to This is my next, a Verizon spokesperson has confirmed that it'll actually be the LTE-enabled Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, not the Galaxy S II, that'll be launching next month

Yes transformer already pointed this out. It will be Q3 for all carriers probably september
I just bought Infuse 4g and love it (after iPhone 4 *sigh*). The only thing is disappointing is single core processor because new phones with dual cpu and decent gpu just started to come out. Samsung Galaxy S II is superior in this sense. The question is will it come out this summer on at&t because, I know from experience, it took a half a year to HTC phones to get to USA.
Should I return Samsung Infuse and wait for Samsung Galaxy S II?
how is it possible that the US will get that phone so ****ing late?! I live in austria and have it since early may. And the plans here are just awesome. 200€ for the phone; 20€ monthly for 1000 min. 1000 texts and 5gb unlimited internet..

According to the rumors, Galaxy S II or Attain will come out late August/early September.
However if Apple's Lawsuit goes through there may be a ban of all sales of Samsung Smartphones in the US

From what I've seen these rumors are pretty accurate perhaps off by a couple months at most. But right now the lawsuit by Apple is quite a problem.
And I go well over 20,000 texts a month. LOL 1000 doesn't cut it. Not since 2005.

Should I buy Unlocked Infuse 4G?

I am currently on Tmobile and can't really wait for their new demi-god version of the Infuse 4G, so I was thinking of buying a unlocked Infuse 4G and popping my Tmobile sim in it...But, I look on here and see that it has had some not so good reviews. Frankly it is this or the G2x, but I am hoping that they are getting Ice Cream Sandwich...
Btw I currently have a Samsung Vibrant...
going from a galaxy s phone to an infuse is not a worthwhile upgrade imo, i would wait for the hercules or sgs 2
I'd wait till sept. tmo is gettibg the best sii phone made so far

Want to talk about bad reviews peek into the g2x channel. I came from a g2x to the infuse and it was the best decision I ever made. The g2x is the biggest pos I ever owned, hands down. Granted the Hercules is the next level of android devices but as of now, in my opinion, the infuse walks all over the g2x.

can you explain/substantiate a little more?
why you think s2 is pos?
Edit:
my bad.
it is g2x not s2
He's referring to the LG G2x not the Galaxy S II.
And if you're on T-Mo, you should definitely wait for the Hercules.
The Infuse is a 2010 phone in nice clothes.
Wait for the Hercules. The two aren't comparable.

The Infuse with a custom ROM is a great device on AT&T.
However it's limited to EDGE on T-Mobile, so I would not purchase it for T-Mobile use. This goes for nearly any AT&T phone by the way - AT&T phones that support the AWS band are the exception and not the norm.

lg or tmobile

Gustavo: For the moment no I am afraid. That would actually be up to the carrier, they call the shows on updates. You see; software comes from Google but it has all carrier specifications and restrictions and service actually come from the carrier. LG’s role was to develop the phone hardware for the carriers to place their software into and offer the service. Basically what I mean to say is that if you would be interested in finding out information related to software, service or even SIM card related question for GSM type phones, I suggest contacting the carrier since they are responsible for that part of the phone and should have more concrete information to be able to help out with this situation in particular.
Gustavo: I am always happy to help out as best I can with situations in general, but I am unfortunately only limited to the information we have for the hardware specifications and what we can find in the Owner’s manual, in our system and from experience. I honestly do apologize for the inconvenience if there is any. Hopefully you now have a better picture of how LG operates regarding the software vs hardware.
copy and paste when i asked through a chat if there is going to be any type of update coming soon
Incoming people who say we will get the update cause the O2X is.
Then the people who say that it's not the same and won't.
Now that T-Mobile has officially declared the G2X EOL (end of life) there will be no more updates for it. They most likely did this because they did not want to pay LG for the ICS update. Major carriers like TMO have to pay per phone for major updates, which is what a jump to ICS would be. TMO most likely decided the millions of dollars they would have to pay LG for ICS was not worth it to them and decided to F..K over their customers. G2X will not be getting official ICS, but the LG unbranded 2X devices will be. It is up to each carrier whether they want to go ahead with an update or not. The Canadian carriers left their customers on Froyo opting to not even pay for the jump to GB.

Rogers will not purchase quad-core phones until Q4

My friend works as a manager for the rogers call center in montreal and he tipped me that an email has been sent from purchasing HO in Toronto that Rogers will not purchase any quad-core phone except the HTC One S until Q4 2012. My friend is very credible and even though we had debated on the fact that this is a ridiculous claim because it would go against the normal evolution of technology, he assured me that the email comes from high up the chain of command. But as he pointed out, the GS2 was released in back in June 2011 and Rogers didnt acquire it until October.
In any case, i believe him because he would lie to me but i'm curious to know why...this would naturally mean that unless a snapdragon S4 variant is released, no GSIII for Rogers Canada until October
I believe they are placing limits on themselves so they have an excuse for releasing the GSIII so late after the international i9100 was released. The AT&T (and I think rogers has an ATTAIN too) wasn't released until well after the i9100 (like 5 months?) And its nearly identical... so I wouldn't expect them to get the GS3 until Q4 anyways
