The Phone in My Dream! Which phone is this? - General Topics

Hello folks,
Here is the phone that I want:
- super-resistant high quality body like HTC devices
- super-amoled 4.0" screen like Samsung devices. Not 3.8" or 4.3"
- super-quality camera like iPhone 4 (not much important)
and it must be an Android device of course ^^
Is there a phone matches with these?

Galaxy S matches.

I think it is the closest one, BUT;
Galaxy S's body is not really qualified like HTC devices.
It also does not have a camera-flash! A really important missing feature.
The other thing that I hate with Galaxy S is that, its look is too much iphoneish.
Look at that :

Keep an eye on MWC news next month. There have been some interesting HTC leaks already, and they look as if they've got quite a lot to unveil!

real men use 4.3"

LOL I hope anyone is not looking in to Samsung device I mean looking at the history of how they have tendency of dropping user base by not providing any type of support, who would pick them? Have you checked their latest fiasco of Vibrant vs Vibrant 4G? LOL so much for that epic new device...
BTW souljaboy I had HD2 months before it came out in USA so I know the whole 4.3" thing but ATM the hardware I want is only in MT4G as its the flagship of HTC and second is DHD which has 4.3" display but lacks 4G much less 3G support in USA but still gets owned by MT4G natively.

I've been using HD2 for 6 months and I'm a bit bored with 4.3" screen.
4.0" is enough and it's gorgeous with super-amoled.
I was also not happy with HD2's CPU. I need a new generation Snapdragon or a Hummingbird CPU.
So I bought Nexus S a few days ago, but its screen is scratched easily because lack of gorilla glass :/
Anyway, it's better to wait for Galaxy S2! Samsung will announce it on February 13.

It's not 4" and super-amoled, also its processor is just .. worthless.
Desire and Nexus One are even better than motorola defy.

I agree, wait for the next round. If nothing tickles your fancy, at least there will be a price drop in older models.

Tegra chipsets are just around the corner.. 2Ghz anyone?

Nexus One, HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy S

I'm looking into getting an Android based handset and can't decide which one from the three to get.
The Nexus One has the advantage of getting Froyo and possibly future updates before any other handset. The htc has sense ui which I like while the Samsung has the best specs and the best battery life from what I hear as well
If you guys were to get a new android device today, which would it be?
Go for the desire, it will get 2.2 eventually
Go for the Nexus with all the great XDA mod's, rom's, fix's and will have FroYo real soon!
If I were going to Android* definitely will choose this one:

*But I´m not
Here are the positives and negatives of each, short of it is that the rest is mostly the same:
Nexus One:
+First in line to get new Android versions from Google
-HTC's remarkably crappy pentile AMOLED screen, crappy color accuracy, crappy effective resolution, and crappy sunlight legibility
Desire:
+576MB RAM
-HTC's remarkably crappy pentile AMOLED screen, crappy color accuracy, crappy effective resolution, and crappy sunlight legibility
Samsung Galaxy S
+AWESOME 4" super AMOLED. Beautiful colors, excellent sunlight legibility -- actually a good AMOLED.
-256MB RAM (less than half of the Desire, and half of the Nexus One's)
-Samsung TouchWiz (sucks)
The screen con for the HTCs and the lack of RAM for the Galaxy S prevent me from recommending any one of them.
Thanks for all the replies. So looks like we still don't have a real good Android phone? Is the new Acer Ferrari any good?
I've been using the iPhone for almost 2 years (first 3G then 3GS) and love it but thought I'd get something different this time around and Android seems to be the way forward. I do like the Blackberry 9800 slider as well and the iPhone 4 looks pretty kick-ass.
I would still recommend NexusOne , for the simple reason that liking/disliking SenseUI is a very personal thing.

Can SenseUI be installed on Nexus One? From what I've read its pretty much the same thing as HTC Desire with a couple of differences, right?

Just a minor correction here
The Ram on Galaxy S is doubled to 512 Now
So i would say Galaxy s
Are you living in the US?
Then i would say: HTC Evo 4G.
Else i would say the Nexus One

In this case, yes, the Galaxy S is the obvious choice.
I am in Dubai, UAE. None of the phones have officially been released yet although Galaxy S is expected within a week or two. Desire and Nexus One both cost the same here (about US$600).
Acer is officially available and a bit cheaper and I'm playing with Liquid-E which is 512MB ROM and RAM but I still find the unit lags on and off. I also used the Motorola Droid which, IMHO, seemed to run quite nicely but I must say that SenseUI definitely adds a lot to Android. Legend is now being released here officially sometime next week- is that worth going for?
Again, apologies for all the questions and appreciate all the answers

I'm actually quite tempted.
I'm one of those oddballs who doesn't mind large devices, and that being the case its mostly positives from where I'm sitting (obviously will be too large for many to use as their day-to-day phone!).
that 7,7 Tab sure is nice but i just bought a GT10 some weeks ago so i wont be able to afford it
Maybe i can sell my tab and sgs2 and use this lol
Iam wondering how the Phone function will be implemented in the tab
I'm really tempted on the Note but what are its full specs? I already know about the screen but what are the rest?

all i've seen is a couple videos, i believe this is true:
dual 1.4 or 1.5Ghz
5.3 or 5.5 samold (Super HD) screen
stylus (wwoooohooooo !)
8MP rear cam
1.4MP front facing cam
2600Mah battery (wooooohoooooooooo!)
gsm and/or lte
it is a little big for a phone, a little small for a tab... but i think it is going to make some huge waves in the market. possibilities with a size like that are awesome.
things to hope for:
DLNA
hdmi-out
1Gb internal memory
microsd
dual sims
noise cancelling mics
GOOD GPS
awesome antenna
awesome battery life
i'm really looking forward to a long lasting device in STOCK FORM without a huge battery hanging off the back. we'll see if this comes through or not. i will be buying as soon as the early adopters confirm the bugs are minimal and livable. hope !
good job samsung

thanks, now I'm even more tempted now. I can't wait until they release this. Is there an estimated release date yet? I would sell my SGS2 for this.
What I discovered:
5.3 HD Superamoled
1.4 Ghz Exynos
1 Gbyte RAM
LTE and HSDPA
16/32 Gbyte versions
8 Mpixel rear / 2 Mpixel front cam
I am more than tempted. I want one now.

I'd LOVE this. Undoubtedly a late US release. Question is when til Espansys etc will have it?
Seems like this is more of a Tablet than a Phone, which kind of defeats the purpose IMHO (if it's actually released like that)
Linux Insider said:
While the Galaxy Note is an unusual size, it packs a strong set of features. As for whether it leans more toward being a phone or a tablet, it seems to favor tablet.
"I'll call it a tablet because it will not be supported for cellular voice," Chris Hazelton, research director for mobile and wireless at the 451 Group, told TechNewsWorld.
"It does support IP communications such as VoIP and Skype," he said. "It has a very good camera, a great processor, and a great screen. But it's hard not to compare it to Dell's (Nasdaq: DELL) 5-inch tablet, which has not gained much traction in the market."

This looks alot like the gnexus. I bet this is the phone motorola submitted to google in the bid to become the 3rd nexus. i dont see capacitive buttons so maybe its a sign of things to come for motorola's 2012 lineup *fingerscrossed*
3300 mAh will handle it, I think!
Update: Seems just a concept
love my atrix, think im going to stick with this line for a while
Even though this most likely is just a concept phone, the whole internet is squirting over this phone, makes you wonder why Moto doesnt take a hint and make this a reality. Instead theyll release something crappy.
Definitely should be the next Nexus.
That would definitely be one sexy looking thing! We will find out soon at the MWC if these specs begin to become standard, especially battery capacity. If motorola can fit such a large capacity into such a thin device like the razr maxx why would the other manufacturers not be able to do it?
I call severe BS!
2GB RAM? 3300mAh battery?
The Atrix 1 & 2 were trash, why would you get excited about 3? Wow, great specs...and a locked bootloader!
whenever the best developers have the phone timeline in their sig i see atrix followed by sgs2, no complaints on the atrix, most find it to be a solid performer and considering it is a year old its still going head to head with other phones, also it had a 1950 ground breaking batt, i think this falls inline, dont ask me about A2 though

Those are some strong words considering it was once the worlds most powerful phone and OC'd today can perform as well(if not outperform) todays new phones....
qhd, dual core, 1gb ram, 1930mah still pretty good for today's spec considering its over a year old.

[Discussion] Looks like Pantech is moving to the big leagues with the Pantech Magnus

Known mostly for budget-friendly phones with not very hot tech specs in the U.S., Pantech might be looking to upgrade its playing league. We haven’t yet heard anything clear about the recently teased Flex, but the Vega S5, Star Q 4G LTE and Marauder looked like much more than the modest gadgets we’ve been used to see from Pantech.
Now a new Pantech-made phone has been leaked, and, although it’s not exactly a contender for the Galaxy S3 or HTC One X, it might come with high-end-ish specs. The Magnus (which is Latin for “great”) seems to be on its way to AT&T and might enjoy a release by the end of September.
First spotted getting FCC approval at the beginning of August under the P9090 codename, the Magnus now stars in a leaked pic that can only mean one thing. Someone is trying to build hype around the handheld, so a launch is imminent.
The photo doesn’t reveal much about the “Great”, aside from the featuring of an 8MP rear-facing camera with flash and the inclusion of a front-facing webcam (most likely a 1.3MP one). Still, we can easily tell that the phone will be running ICS out of the box or maybe even Jelly Bean, having some juicy on-screen navigation buttons.
A few other tech specs have been rumored before, including the featuring of a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 processor, an Adreno 225 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board memory and a 720p HD display. The screen will probably measure around 4.3 inches in diagonal, although it could go up to 4.5.
As for the design, this is actually quite intriguing. The front is not very original or unusual, looking kind of bland even, but the back is a whole different story. There are not only sexy curves there, but also quirky bumps, which makes this look a bit like HTC’s Incredibles. This is clearly one love or hate design point, and, while some will find it innovative, cool and special, others will most likely call it ugly or tacky. I for one kind of like it, because, even if it’s not the absolute most elegant phone ever, it’s not ordinary either.
We of course know nothing about the Magnus’ price or exact release date, but as soon as we’ll find out something we’ll let you know. For now, tell us if you’re at least intrigued about the phone’s design and rumored spec sheet.

I think this is a great phone in todays market even including LTE capability, if price would be around usd. 250,-

The Samsung I9295 Galaxy S4 Active has been in our rumor mill for quite some time. The latest leaked shots reveal that the Active will be a tougher dust and water resistant version of the Galaxy S4 flagship.
The specs are expected to be the same and the live pictures below confirm it - the device is running on a quad-core 1.9GHz processor with Adreno 320 GPU, which most definitely means a Snapdragon 600 chipset. The screen is a 5" 1080p Super AMOLED unit, the same as the one on the original Galaxy S4. There is still no info on the camera, but we expect it to be the same 13MP as on the Galaxy S4.
Despite the similar specs, the Galaxy S4 Active looks nothing like the original. It comes in a metallic shell with bolts on the back, and there are also three hardware buttons below the screen.
There is no official info on the Galaxy S4 Active yet, but as it turns out the handset has been showcased recently in Croatia, so an announcement is imminent.

Looks nice but I like more the clean design of the S4.
This is will probably shut all the people saying cheap plastic about the S4
Also, it looks like it has a 8MP sensor and not 13MP like the S4.
Only dual core seems not very good, but @1.9GHz should be better

Windows Phone phones by Samsung are Ativ, not Active.
The point? To snatch up a part of the market opened by Sony with the Xperia Z. Personally, I'd gladly get one. To be able to use the phone and not worry about it dying in, for instance, rain... priceless

Ok, it looks ugly, more specifically the front button part. Reminds me of my old nokia 5800 hardware buttons.
Love it. Want it. Getting it but wish it was smaller.
A 4.2 inch 720 screen is fine for the mountains.
Although a lot of people are saying that the buttons are ugly...one has to consider the fact that this is a waterproof phone
That being said if you are using your phone in the rain, the sensors probably wouldn't recognize your heat signature as such the buttons may be to ensure that a person can use it in wet conditions...just my opinion
