Ask Viewsonic. The current thinking is by the end of the month but this is a development forum not official Viewsonic support so we are not privy to their release cycle.

I talked with VS Tech Support last week and they indicated the next update by the end of January. They could not elaborate on what it would include but that the next one is in the works.
Moved to general
OTA update due to roll out Jan 20. Will resolve some minor bugs and improve performance yet again!

Hi,
Thanks!
It's nice to see that you're still with us... but I guess that now we know we should be careful about what we say about Viewsonic ...

Still no flash huh? Time to light a fire under Adobe, or just ignore them and release anyways... as you're kind of between a rock and a hard place ATM with the product box markings and indications...
...of course I think that all the people that'd be keeping it would already be using something other than the stock fw... but... you're still probably losing some that would've stayed otherwise...
Following the other thread, this build will be numbered 3588 or even a higher number.
It's probably going to be 3588 - I don't see it as an official update OTA (yet), but if the VS contact here says that it's due on the 20th, then it's likely to be 3588.
btw, that will be the basis for TNTL 4.2.0, if it's an official release. Same kernel / different TnT version means a minor revision (but a full update, not a supplement).
I am running the stock enhancement that I downloaded from this forum. It's called TnT_Enhancement_3389_v1.rar Will my GTab accept the Viewsonic update?

I believe the enhancement pack (Rothnic's, correct?) keeps the OTA updater intact tmk. But, if it does, keep in mind that any OTA update will wipe out the enhancement pack.
Thanks; you guys are great!
Viewsonic OTA, Anyone Get this yet?
Has anyone received the OTA for this today?
Any reports on what's in it yet? Flash, Gingerbread, Honeycomb etc?
Thanks for your reply.

I wish someone would post an accurate date to expect the OTA update. The 20th as first stated came and went.
Meanwhile I have been assembling a dock, a case, microSDs and a screen and rear cover. As of today they have all arrived but the promised update.
Time to run my script again - either their UAT is taking longer than expected, or 3588 is not the final.
TNTL 4.2.0 prototype is in the works, but I'm waiting to see what actually gets released.

The new 2.1 update has just come out for my milestone. But if I update will I lose my root. I rooted with easyroot and If I lose my root can I re-root?
Thanks in advance

What exactly is in this update, does anyone know? At 34MB~ it can't be FroYo so I really don't know what to expect but why would they bother with such a small update when FroYo is supposed to be coming this month?
bamp for also broken root needing a solution.
want to keep the enhancements the update delivered.

it supposed to be coming till the end of the year not this month.
its just some enhancements update. nothing special(2.2 is due on the Q4 of this year). if you update it i think you can root it again.
to be on the safe side just do a nandroid backup.
when i updated i could no longer reroot my milestone as i kept getting the "E:EOCD marker occurs after start of EOCD E:signature verification failed" error is someone knows how to fix it that would be great but for now i recommend not update to this update as there seems to be very little difference apart from the fact i have no root now
Why not flashing the vulnerable recovery first via RSD lite Tool? http://android.doshaska.net/rootable

Ugh. Look, I know what the Motorola update page says but that only says planned for Q4. What's to stop it being released sooner? Nothing.
Jesus christ the update that is rolling out consists of bug fixes and a more overall stable 2.1 image.
You probably wont see froyo this year .... got.s page has a internal source that says that they even haven.t started to work on froyo .....
You get the ecd error because your vulnerable recovery isn.t installed and you need to flash a new sbf file.

Do they need to start working on FroYo? Aside from the bootloader and the radio are there any differences that would require a totally new version than the Droid has?

u loose the point...the only reason for all this, is that moto want to sell milestone 2 and xt720 first which both of handsets have froyo out of the box.Thats the reason why they have announce that they ll comlete the update even on q4 for some countries.(i am talking about froyo btw)
For sure dont expect froyo on milestone before december.

Me too! Just seems odd that they would not notify hero customers if there was an update. They texted and emailed everyone when the 2.1 update came out
EDIT:According to HTC this update came out 10/29/10
It is an old update that they produced October 22, 2010 to help with the call performance issue. They posted it on their facebook page. I am not sure if they notified everyone through twitter.

I thought flashing sprint radios were bad. Can you use them? Are there any improvments?
I already installed the ruu and re-rooted. The update was faster than I thought it would be but I had to come back to AOSP. Thanks though.
Is Google working on it or they never ever had planned to do it for 9020A?
btw since the update for 9020T is out, I assume what google need to do is simply replacing radio in the ROM according to 9020A specification.
Is it all that hard?
I think they need to fix the battery bugs first.

This. They've put the brakes on the i9020t update already; one suspects they aren't about to start rolling out an update to the i9020a until they're confident it works right.
Could you please educate me what's the battery bug?

I flashed the ICS 4.0.3 for 9020T (with radio replaced by KF1), what I observed is the battery lasts longer that it did back in 2.3.6 ages.

They only stopped the rollout in a few counties. The US rollout on the i0920t continues.
I hope my 9020a gets it soon. I do have the 9020t's with the right radio in the mean time.
I bought this phone because I looked forward to getting quick updates. I had the captivate on att and went mad waiting for updates. Now there is talk other devices from sony may get it soon. So help me if they get an official ICS before I get mine....

Those of us who had to manually update our Infinity to the latest .26 firmware because the OTA never came through.
What if ASUS releases Jelly Bean (JB) to the Transformer Infinity tablets and no one can see it because it will never show there's an update available.
Expect nothing...hope for something...
I wouldn't hold your breath, I'm certainly not holding mine.
who cares? whats so hard in manually updating? OTA updates are a feature, not the only road to go on.
If you need OTA rootkeeper then yes, it may be a factor.

You obviously don't care. ASUS posting the .26 update on their website was also a feature. Had they not done that many of us would still be on the base firmware.
So if ASUS doesn't post the update on their website this time and announce the JB release to the Infinity via OTA, but only 15% reportedly get the OTA. Would you still not care?
I don't know about you but I haven't seen any OTA update of any kind of on my Infinity since I got it, unlike when I had my Transformer Prime where there were updates coming every 2 weeks.
This should concern anyone who had to manually update their Infinity.

It's all good. This site will be abuzz like a kicked hornets best when it hits. Even IF Asus doesn't post the download, which is HIGHLY unlikely, someone on here will copy it and post for the others.. we're one big, friendly, helpful group here.
I'm fairly sure the OTA issue was fixed a while ago.

Hi all
I have this simple question, on behalf of those that, like me, didn't stay updated with all the developments after leak 1: has the official ICS OTA for AT&T been released?
Thank you!

It has not been released yet.
It depends on which region you live in.
I think besides AT&T ...... everyone got OTA !
correct me if i'm wrong

Well the soak test which was done by Motorola was found to be same as the second leak. It's build date,md5 sums everything is a match.so untill and unless there are some major bugs in the soak test version(which actually is running pretty smooth),there would be no major changes in the final OTA released.so yeah you can assume that the OTA will be same as the second leak.

Well, I am running an ATT Atrix 2 on leak #1 (SCv7), when I go to System - About phone - System updates I get a message that says Update available with a version number of 67.21.125. I did not sign up for the Soak test, so that tells me that there is an update available. Maybe you guys should try checking on your phones to see if there is an update available.

Well that my friend is what leak 2 is.i don't know if you already know this but actually the update u'r talking about has been around for over a month and a half.that update or leak 2 or soak test all are the same 67.21.125 with a build date of Fri Aug 31, 18:50:08 CDT 2012.the only difference between them is the source they were obtained from.leak 2 was pulled from Motorola servers thanks to project cheesecake.while when leak 1 was "leaked" AT&T released an OTA Update to make the leak official and removed a few bugs.so that is what u'r seeing in the system updates right now.and these were matched with the soak test version and were found to be the same.

No, actually alteredlikeness and I are the ones who examined them both and found that the soak/ota is the same as leak 2, and we posted the info the day the soak went out.
Still nothing from moto about an official OTA date...
Contacted motorola yesterday. and i was told that the soak test was started on 25th September and after successful completion of soak test, the OTA will be out in batched in 5 to 7 days. Have a look at the Help application in your mobile phone. it already shows videos and tutorials on Android 4.0. Wake up guys. we are going to hear the good news very soon. Motorola was successful to complete the ICS update in Q3 as promised for all the world except for a delay for ATT who customizes the Rom and apps for it self. but the soak test have started in Q3 for ATT too.. lets hope for the best to happen.
