I would like to know the benefits of this new radio =)

I wonder if this new radio will magically enable 850/1900Mhz WCDMA...
I am sure this is pure wishful thinking...

Installed it.
Seem to be getting faster mobile data speeds (Vodafone UK), not sure if this is related though.

what happens if you just flash radio.img through adb do you loose root/s-off?

As long as you have RADIO S-Off you do not lose anything...if you have Radio S-On you are screwd and stuck with the radio you flashed it to...
ENG S-Off by itself does not help...

Enjoy!
So the only change is R ---> R2?
Ok, let's open it and see...
System.img is exactly the same. Ufff... I was afraid that I will have to spend another 24h upgrading my ROM
Radio.img is the only difference.
I think this is the RUU to match the OTA, as previously released RUU didn't match OTA when in comes to radio.
Isnt this the same radio though as the one in the other thread?
For the dumb people hereee....
This is the full RUU of the R2 OTA update.
So not the update.... but the full ROM!!
Radio
Could someone rip the radio for flashing please? Or is that the same aswell just renamed due to it being a RUU?

Well, I can't tell you which difference there is, but I have checked something: Both have the same size, but R(1) of the radio has an MD5 checksum of...
d3809958c8fad8211d20f97eeede2a1a
...whereas the radio of R2 has a sum of...
aea59efafc7327000a44ee902046c355
So there is indeed a difference between those radio images. Don't ask me which...

Hmm... I'm on CyanogenMod 7.0.0 RC0, and adb can't see my device, will Fastboot work concidering that?

[Q] Neccessary to upgrade radio?

Hi there!
Have recently installed oxygen with tiamat kernel. (seems to be a nice ROM)
My hboot says:
Saga PVT Ship S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.98.100.2
Radio-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC boot
I was thinking if flashing a new radio may help regarding stability and batterydrain problems? Or should I only flash radio if there is something more seriously wrong with the phone?
In the case its recommended to upgrade the radio, wich one should I use?
its only suggested to flash new radio if you have a real need to. As it flashes a critical part of the phone! I personally have upgraded to latest radio with no problems. If you do go ahead make sure you check the md5 sums match before flashing!
+1 only flash when you need to.
It may be useful though.
I upgraded to the new radio and now I get 3G in my area! Previously on the stock Radio that came with the phone, i only had 2G..

*quote everyone who answer on the "do i need a new radio?" question*
if u don't need it - don't do it!
usually it's not necessary to update your radio.
Thanks guys for the info, I will wait to update that radio!

yes almost everyone would say it's not necessary to flash radio unless there's something wrong with the current one, because there's a risk of bricking your phone!
but still, i did it nevertheless because i could was new to the android community so i tried everything i could get my hands on =D
proceed with caution!!
problem solved.
but how can i return to s-on?!!!
its still s-off...
I would also like to know whether flashing new radio would help me. I recently switched to the new operator and I know have problems during a handover between GSM and UMTS during a call - connection often breaks. Would flashing a new radio? I`m currently using 20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M

Q - Virtuos Saga v1.0

because of some funny forum regulations I have to ask here...
Does
[ROM][May 23]Virtuous Saga v.1.0.0 [3.04.401.1][Sense 3.6 Android 4.0.4]
support 2WCR(two way call recording) as his older brother Virtuos Affinity which I am using since december??
If not then when expected to implement that?
Hope some developers of this ROM will read and answer
No. This is a kernel feature and the source for the 3.0 kernel isn't available so it can't be added to the ROM.

hey,
I don`t want to create new topic just for one question, so I`ll ask here.
I`ve installed this ROM without flashing radio. everything works fine. Do I need to flash radio anyway? Later I`d like to migrate to Primo-S ROM, cause sense 4 I like more than sense 3.6.

If you don't have a problem with your current radio, then it's not necessary to flash the new one. It's really completely up to you.
Edit: I just saw your hboot; if you're S-on, you won't be able to flash a new radio anyway.

Awesome, well, then you can decide whether you want to flash the radio, or not I, personally, have seen a huge improvement with the latest radio, but that could be the total opposite for you. So try the radio out for a day or two, and if you have any problems, you can always just flash your old radio again.

You should compare the basebands not the hboot. Check under settings -> about. You can update your baseband to the latest by flashing the newer radio. But keep your hboots where they are for now, DON'T use a OTA update or RUU.

Why is older hboot better than the new ones? I know you can flash radio, but anything else? Surely there is some benefit to running the full ruu and getting updated system files in addition to updated hboot?

Do not update the hboot unless you want to jump through hoops to flash roms. I have seen many complain of issues with hboot higher than 1.09. Highly recommend leaving it alone. I am on 1.06 and never have problems like the updated ones.

In which country are you living?
If it's somewhere in Europe (sparda?! - maybe Germany ) the latest radio is 1.06s.50.02.27_2_10.08.50.04L.
Anyway you should keep your current hboot so. Just flash the radio. If you want, send me a PM and I'll give you a link to a cwm backup I made right after my RUU Update. It's untouched (no personal settings etc.), only with Super SU in \system, so you will have everything like as you'd run the RUU update and rooted your device.
Please learn more about the 4.04 update here.

I appreciate your advise. I discovered that I am also on 1.06 HBoot and was thinking that I had to do an OTA update to get the latest radio. So now I should be able to find a radio update and flash it in CWM.
-------------
Half an hour of searching later, I've come to conclude that the only way to update the radio is via the RUU update process. I haven't found any newer radio that is flashable. So I don't really think there is any way to keep my 1.06 hboot AND update the radio.
if you are using cwm you need to fastboot it if using twrp recovery you can flash thru recovery
