[Q] direct link/shortcut on homescreen to a video possible? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Is it possible to make a direct link/ shortcut on my homescreen to a video I have on my phone? Like I do for some of my games. Click the game icon and it goes directly to the game and starts it up.
Thanks in Advance

no one ? How about a developer looking for something to do ? J/k
Thanks for looking though. And even if nothing comes of this post i have still picked up a ton of info from this site .
Thanks !

apparently both astro and linda file managers allow this.
download one or the other from the market navigate to the file from the app and long press, there should be a short cut option.

Any way to hide pictures from Gallery?

Okay before you get all up in arms, not for dirty photos. I figure I could download photovault, but I'd really rather not, as it's not too huge of a deal.
Basically, I have a bunch of icons on my phone for use on my desktop, but I don't particularly like when I have to pick a photo for a contact or for a frame, having to scroll through my hundred or so icons.
I guess what I'm asking is has anyone found a way to hide certain folders from the gallery? Or, does anyone know how to make an icon pack, for dxtop, better home?
: )
Thanks
rename the folder to have a . in front of the name. This hides files in linux.

Yea, it should have been "blk". jk, but yea, just add a . the beginning of the folder.
When I tried to rename my folder, Vista wouldn't let me. It said, "must have a valid filename" or something like that...
any help?
Download a file manager off the market, i rpefer astro and just rename it through your phone

LOL! Yeah, most us folks in the south are still a little sensitive about that and with good reason.
Only one issue with the period method. Ironically your phone will be a little *****y. When you do this, existing icons will be hidden from gallery and still work. Just remember to put NEW icons in download or some other folder to set them, then move them to the hidden folder. Icon and other picture selection screens use the gallery program to display that image selection screen. In other words, if you put new pictures directly in a hidden folder, you cant set them as icons.
There are also some apps on the Market that will create a protected area for pictures that can't be seen by the Pictures app. And yeah, I assume this would be used for your porn collection rather than your icons.

CorePlayer problems..

Hi all!
Looking for some one with a little more knowlage
I've bought CorePlayer a while ago. Love it!
However.. Everything I now open eg.pic's opens in CorePlayer.
Any way to keep the vids as native to CorePlayer and pics open automatically in Album viewer?
I hope you understand what I'm trying to get at...
Thanks In advance
U can try Advanced Configuration Tool, it has an option to associate files to programs and applications.
Awsome, I'll give it a try.
Is it paid for or free? (doesnt realy matter, will still buy it)
Thanks buddy
Found it, thanks.
menu - tools - settings - select page and file associations
yopu can then selct which ones open with coreplay and which dont
On this note, does anyone know how to get CorePlayer to play music when the screen is locked? I would use this as my default music player but as soon as the screen goes off, so does the music! have looked through all the settings but cant believe it's not there.

If you meen importing playlists, I'm not sure. no option in settings but there is a on-the-go play list ready to fill up
im sure with a little tinkering you could put a previous play list in.

Use this Cab. It does exactly what you want it to do. Keeps Coreplayer running when you push the power button to turn off screen

.... yes of course, but, the folder icon not reflect the content in the folder. GoLanucher permits to create a "live icons" or a "widget"? that display the contents of folder. I'm looking for an app or widget that do the same thing.
And no, i don't install GoLaucher because is not smoot as ADWex (for me) .

Just get Auto App Organizer, Its [email protected] sweet!
It will automatically organize all your apps into categories, These categories can be placed onto homescreen as folders with your choice of icon

grtz and thanks for the reply
Dude...
Use a file explorer, navigate to your sound files location, long press it and select "use as notification" or something like that. From now on it will be also in your sound list (personalize etc...)

Use file explorer with root and copy the mp3 you want to system/media/audio/notifications reboot the phone and you will see that your copied file is now there to be selected under default notifications/messages .

I only tested on HTC sensation with CM 9.1 ROM, I think there're some bugs on different devce, so If you have some problems or suggests, please reply here, I'll fix it as soon as possible.
If you find some problem, please post here.
A few things after just try the app: the interface is nice,a little too rainbow there, but good looking, so far no problems; the bar in the bottom is taking precious space, could the settings and exit buttons be somewhere else?? Top bar should be less polluted also.
Overall this app was everything we expect from a file manager:thumbup:
I installed the app on CM7.2 on Galaxy Ace I. I really like the app, but i faced some FCs when giving root permission, but still works.
Btw, i really like the UI and it is pretty smooth. My suggestion for the app is to include an option to block the app with a password.
@edit
Never mind, FCs was SuperUser related.

Exactly!
A LAN SMB client and root explorer options (like setting permissions) would be great too (both are presents on ES File Explorer or Root Explorer).
With these suggestions, for sure it would be my default file manager. :good:

Thanks for your suggest. I'll add the password function in v1.1, and root explorer is already support, you can get root permission on setting by touch "Get root access permission", and if you want to modify file on system, you also need touch "Mount system to read/write".
And something like "LAN SMB client" will support on later version.
Thanks.
